My father and I went on some errands today. First to Lowe's so he could get some paint for my mothers boat. It's suddenly become very important to get it done. Then to Wal-Mart so we could get some supplies we each needed. In my case that was two 25 count boxes of 4x4 gauze pads, two rolls of .94" masking tape, a pack of 'Stic Mount' double sided adhesive strips, a bottle of Super Glue Gel, a box of fly paper strips and a pack of toilet paper. Never can have enough of that last item. We stopped at Burger King for a late lunch. He had a double Whopper with sweet potato fries and a drink. I had the same. The sweet potato fries are quite good. On the way home I saw an open hopper with 'BNBX' on it. Never seen that one before so I looked it up. Greenbrier Management Services, LLC. This one looked to be blue in color but it could be some shade of gray or green as my color reception has been known to give me fits on some colors.

sir james I

It's 71 and was nice all day. I feel tired tonight but the trip was worth it.

Green-Jim, the Woodward cruise eh, you were just a few miles from my house and about  30 minutes from Charlies. I usually go but as you know we were just getting home. No banilla tonight for me I got 3 pounds to lose. I will see if the thingy shows up though...S.J.

SJ,

I didn't get to go to Woodward.  If I could've made it up to MI, Ford opened the Flat Rock, MI plant up for tours.  Would've enjoyed that.

Brent,

Good to see you back.  I was wondering if you were busy remodeling the house again.Wink  I can understand needing to take a break from forums.  Killed off my "project", and that created a mess with a partout on a forum.

Good afternoon all,

Doug Murphy, hard to imagine that that is Dearborn.  Went through there once in 1962 or thereabout.  Had to transfer to La Salle I think.  We took the NYC James Whitcomb Riley from Chicago to Cincinnati on the way to Norfolk, Va.

Laz, nice video of 765 and NS executive F units.  Nice to see the Nickle plate diesel with the steamer.

Chief, bridges look tall enough now to accomodate double stacks.  thanks for posting.

Got my permanent crown today at the dentist but had to leave my partial until Wednesday or Thursday to make changes to go with new crown.  Then I'm all done, I hope.

Wifey on clear liquid diet today preping for colonoscopy tomorrow.  Starts on saniflush at 5:00PM.  I feel for her doing the prep.  That's the worst part.

Ran trains a little bit this morning before it got hot but had to quit for dentist appointment.

Just looked at some pictures of TTOS convention in Santa Clara, Calif.  I'm so out of touch that I didn't even know they were having one.

later,

Ray

It's 69 now, getting dark earlier,Sad

The grass was so tall and thick I did the front twice. One way then across it. The back settled for one cut. Lots of tomatoes, some were spoiled, daughter was suppose to pick and give away. I don't know why she didn't. Probably checked the house on her lunch hour.

Probe I guess I skimmed the past weeks pages too fast, thought you had come for the cruise. If you ever can, DO IT. Lemon ice cream tonight but got banilla at the ready so belly up to the thingy bar..S.J.

Hiya guys - everything is going pretty well here!  Looks like Mom might go home on wednesday.  Also, Char had a doc appointment and they said that she is now considered cured of myelofibrosis (pending a 5 year watching period), so we are all pretty happy here!

Happy Birthday Mrs. Chief!

TARDIS is ready - let's go!

Sunny, dry, and mid 80's today.

Brutus - that is great news on the health front.

Playing catch up at wok today.  I'd have gotten more catch up done if I didn't have so many meetings......

All for now.

Aloha. Sunny again! Fife, that steam tractor Does look like Trevor! (it has a whopping 16 HP). Ray, that part of the city is very different now. All the huge printers buildings are condos, the trackwork behind Dearborn is all gone. LaSalle is just a trainshed for Metra trains. But Dearborn is still there at the bottom of the street! Looks like a nice day.

Sunny and 60 degrees now in North Central IL above Marseilles. Will hit 80 by end of day. Rain, What is Rain?? We just don't get that here.

Nice chat last night on the Tardis. Great news of Brutus and clan on the medical front and about time for some good news for him. Yes

Good to hear Brent is still kicking.

Here is something Chief will have to have.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Train-Checkbook-Covers-13-Norfolk-Southern-Engines-lionel-mth-NEW-/110874034593?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19d09b81a1

I got my K-Line boy flying an airplane installed and wired up yesterday and may work on the Lionel transfer station today. I need to change it so I can turn on the lights without the man movement so I will re-wire it to work off two switches. I also want to change the roof color and signage from Lionlevill to anything else.

Well have a great day all and God bless.

Good morning all,

Jim, great news about Char and your mom.

Banks, prayers for your momAngel  I had AAA surgery myself about 7 years ago.

Phyllis Diller passed away.  Didn't realize she was 95.  Funny lady!

Wife is doing good on her prep work for procedure this morning at hospital.  Will take her over there about 10:30 and have them call me when she is ready to come home.  She can't drive because of sedative they give you.

Heard offshore sportfishing here is suppose to be real good this year because of the warmer water.  They are starting to catch yellowtail and Durado normally more common in Mexican waters further South.  I would like to go but can't deal with those cattle boats anymore.  My next door neighbor has a nice boat but it hasn't been in the water for two years or more.  Just sits in the driveway for decoration I guess.

Have a good day,

Ray

Mornin' Fellas

Not sure if many of you have heard, but TheQ and I have started the process to adopt another baby. We are in the infancy stage right now (paperwork is done, first home vist is done, second is this weekend) we then have to update our profile (about 80% complete) and contact the lawfirm (we are going with the same lawfirm as we had a great experience with them the last time and we are familiar with their process). This was the biggest time sucker for me as we wanted to get the paperwork updated and completed as quickly as possible.

Went and picked up Christina's 1yr pictures last night. I'll try and post a couple soon. They give you 1 hour for the sitting and we were done in about 15 minutes because Christina loves to get her picture taken! Hardest part was changing her outfit!

Brutus - great news on the health front!

Laz - I saw that steam engine was in Pittsburgh yesterday. Also found out that none of my familiy members thought it important enough to go take some photos for me! Sad Have to call my buddy to see if he got some.

Jim - which 'project' car? The Sunfire or one of your myriad of Probes?

RI Jack - My sister FINALLY has taken her dog to get some help with his 'issues'. I'll let you know how he is doing in a couple weeks when we go back to Pittsburgh for our punishment visit.

Banks,

             Angel

Dennis,

It was a tough call for me to make, but I feel it was the right thing to do.  There was no stopping the massive amount of rust, which had already compromised the structural integrity.Sad  It is at a yard in a small town laying by a 93 base model Probe.  It'll likely be there for a while before the inevitable happens.

Brent,

I came to my senses and junked the 91 Probe.  Had over $3K in it, but the rust was everywhere and I didn't have much choice.  Had a jackstand punch through the rear crossmember due to rust.Indifferent  At that point, it needed the entire rear suspension, tops of the rear strut towers patched, all brake and fuel lines, and gas tank and filler neck for a start.  Fixed it all in one shot by calling Sinay's Auto Salvage in West Newton and stripped it while I waited for them.

Good Luck to you and The Q on the adoption.

Hi Guys.  Beautiful day in Michigan today.  We have had a very nice stretch of weather once the heat moved out.  Best weather for the Woodward Dream Cruise in years.

My Dad is headed to a regular room today from ICU.  Hopefully life can return to something more normal.  Appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.  They worked!!

Charlie: I hope your father continues to improve and can get back to a normal life.

Good morning, afternoon whatever. It's 84, humid, partly cloudy and sticky here. The high will be 90 with a heat index of 94.

Been working on the Peerless tractor all morning in preparation for removing the tranny. I was supposed to have help from my nephew on this but he evidently has better things to do as he never showed. I did as much as I could alone then packed up my tools. It's gotten to the heavy lifting stage and very few parts on that thing are light. If I can get his help I'll go back and work on it some more.

Got an Athearn 50' double door boxcar in the mail today. It looks nice except that the doors are glued in the open position. Looks like a setup for the great Waldo Pepper to fly his plane through. Right now it's 'parked' on the track at the engine house with a cargo of double sided adhesive strips in it.

Nice video Kev. I had one of those line controlled planes when I was a kid. Cox .049 PT19 Trainer I think it was.

It's going to mostly cloudy here but the weather guesser says no rain. Maybe I'll be able to work on the tractor again tomorrow. I'm still hurting from slaving on this morning. Those nuts and bolts have been on it for over fifteen years and a bunch of them didn't want to come off. I'd go to pulling on one and it wouldn't budge then when it did it came loose like POW! I wouldn't know if I'd loosened it or snapped it off until I lifted the wrench out of the way. A lot are 1/2", 9/16" and 3/4" but some require a wrench bigger than one inch. I'll be glad when I finish with that! Of course the real fun is going to be putting it back together!

Got the doors on that boxcar loosened so they can be closed now.

Nice video Kev. I had one of those line controlled planes when I was a kid. Cox .049 PT19 Trainer I think it was. We never had the $$$$$$ for one but one of our neighbors had a bunch ot them and would fly them at the ball field. great times long gone.

Thanks Jeffery and the rest of ya,!!!!  At this point for me the layout it is all about motion to keep the kidies into it. The almost 2 years old granddaughter is in love with the trains.

That is why I always use heat Jeff. takes a little longer but you save what you have.

I showed the wife the Lionel Operating Track Maintenance Car tonight and I am still alive. Angel

 Have a nice night guys!
