Good morning all,

thanks for the good wishes for my sister in N.C.

Chief, that's a bummer getting delayed like that at RDU.  At least you got a first class upgrade.   We had a delay when I was there because of weather in Chicago on my trip West.  It wasn't bad though and we made up the time enroute.

Buckeye, Man! you must have some industrial strength kidney stones.  I have had a lot of them but nothing like yours.  Good luck on your procedure and hope this takes care of it.

Jeffrey, never heard that expression before about Gen. Sherman's breakfast.  It sounds like what I would call a Mulligan stew.  I did the same sort of thing with some canned beef soup.  The soup was mostly water so I added everything you can think of including some more meat from a left over pot roast along with lots of vegetables.  It was real good.

My grandson is having a good time this week at our State Capitol in Sacramento with his High School ochestra.  They were to play two concerts up there and have some free time to site see as well.  I think they went to see the California State Railroad Museum among other things.  This is his first trip by himself away from home.  He'll be a big shot now.

My oldest sister is moving to a new assisted living place in Florida this week.  Got to give her a call.  The price on the old place went though the roof, so she voted with her feet.  I hear that the new place is nice though and is just down the road from the old one.

My youngest sister called this week.  She has been staying with my ailing sister in North Carolina for the last month and a half.  She lives in Connecticut but is staying in the South until the weather improves up North.  Those two sisters went to see another sister in Virginia whom they had not seen in a long time.  She has arthritis real bad in her hands and can't do much.   They had a nice visit.  We have a big family.  There were eight of us with seven still living.  Most of them are scattered over the East Coast now.  I'm the only one in California.

Well that's enough family history.  Have a good week end all,

Ray

It's pretty much the same thing. It had three kinds of meat, potatoes, cabbage, celery, corn, okra, carrots and some things I didn't bother to remember. It had tomato also but only a small one as my parents know tomatoes and I don't get along.

Chief:  Yep..I've had things like that happen. Once while travelling to my aunt's home near LA we got stuck at St. Louis airport because of poor weather..took about 12 hours before the dang weather would let us go...Grumpy

Howdy All !

Think the new meds are helping, the crud seems to be slowly, ever so slowly, retreating. Yeah

Fife, Thank goodness that Pillow Pal was a Ladybug and not a Unicorn. Blindfold

No museum today, but may go for a walk in a bit after it warms up some. As Dennis and Ray said it is supposed to warm up nicely but high wind warnings are going up as well from about noon today thru tomorrow, 25~45mph with gusts in the 60's+. Hopefully they won't take down any power lines and cause any brush fires.

Prayers going out for all these folks in the storm areas, when you look at the warning areas it would be easier to just show the non-warning areas. Y'all are in for a rough afternoon & evening.

Later All.

Liver -- have not eaten it since 1963 when I left home for college and career, really disliked it but I always ate a very small portion -- no choice.

When we came home last Wed. afternoon from Galena/Dubuque we drove straight into 40-60 MPH winds and then it started spitting snow for about 70 miles, that was not so much fun.  We are off again to take care of grand kids up north, big jazz festival AND Caboose Stop Hobbies Thumbs Up  My two little buddies are always ready to go with me to that store, it's usually a race to see who can get their shoes on first Laugh

Temps next week forecasted for the 60's & 70's, spring is almost here.

DougDG -- the boss is headed your way again in April for business but I'm staying here, still saving for the Alaska trip.  Not sure if I'll ever get back there again as this will be her last "paid for" trip, I would truly enjoy taking a month next winter to just enjoy the CA warmth, we'll see.  New grand baby is scheduled to make a debut in Sept., at that point my travel's will be over for quite a while.

My Boss came to me and said I looked dead tired and wondered why I was at work.  I told him I needed to be here in oder for the Chief to get his SS.  He told me to go home and said, "The Chief will not miss the  $100,000 shortage this month."  Doing the math, if I work 1/2 day the Chief gets $100K so that means he gets a $1,000, 000 week.  Needless to say it seems like he would send me a better Christmas present than a lump of coal.Bang Head

Ohayō (O-hi-o for Chuck),

It is a very bright and clear Saturday morning here.  Today's high will be in the low-50s and it is supposed to be very sunny all day.  We will probably take the kids to a very large park today.  It is only about 20 minutes away and it is supposed to have many fun things within it.  We do have some cleaning chores to take care of but they will not take much time to complete.  My wife downloaded the Tokyo photos yesterday so now I just need to upload some of them to Photobucket so I can post some here.

As for taxes: Before I joined the Air Force and for the first few years of my Air Force career, my oldest brother did my taxes.  He was an accountant major and is also a CPA who does taxes for a small group of select clients for some side income.  A few years ago I discovered Turbo Tax partnered with a military-friendly organization to provide its basic program to military members for free.  This has worked great for us since our taxes are simple to complete: we don't own a home and we are only making contributions to our Roth IRA and mutual funds, not withdrawing.  I file the taxes electronically once I receive my W-2; I'm with Doug M as to providing the interest free loan to the government.  I have my withholdings set up to pay the bare minimum every month with the goal of breaking even at the end of the year but I haven't had that happen yet.

Laz - We’re not glad the snow melted we love it.  Chuck needs to hit us at least one more time.

SJ - We were able to have a nice snowball fight Thursday afternoon.  My older sun pelted me with some nice shots – it was great.

Chief - I hope your travels take a turn for the better.

Sayonara,

Joe

Getting lots of rain here. I thought I was hearing thunder. Turns out it was a massive amount of rain hitting the roof. Never seen it rain that hard before. Rain chance went from 40% to 70% and we're under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 pm. I have to shut the computer down shortly.

Good evening guys.  Somehow, the web ate my elaborate, well thought out, completely grammatically correct post, so your stuck with this condensed, less than perfect post.  See if I can recall.  Yeah, the Raceway Park commercial brought back memories.  I remember Bob Motts and his jet powered Kenworth truck, and lots of drag racing.  Regarding taxes, the same firm my mother worked with does my taxes, still don't charge me.  They do a great job and with the adoptions, it is best to have competent financial folks between my finances and the IRS.  I have been audited, as mentioned, with full tithes, perhaps it does draw some attention.

Take care,

Dennis

Howdy from Charlotte. Flight was short and good. Plane was full of college kids. They are now "hogging" all the outlets with their I Pods, I Pads and etc. They need to buy extended batteries: would go to laptop but preserving battery. Why did Bass Pro pick College Break weekend for a FL event. They will not go to the store. 2 hours and 45 minutes here. Well, got first class to FL. Seems storms weakening as they top the NC mountains.

Good afternoon from the Ol' Pueblo

Nice out today but a little windy.

Kev - got the smoke unit. Now, for Mad Science!!

Just kidding, shouldn't take that many pieces of test equipmentGeeked

Fife - good to see you back. Hope all is well.

DougDG - the unicorn joke got me chuckling

Buckeye - take it easy buddy

Got a few bay items today. Like the boiler kit for the snowplow. The Lionel rule book was not exactly what I expected, but it is original. Milk car is in good shape, platform just needs paint. Lots of parts from Brasseur's too for the signals and a cool little bell for the 1664.

Gotta run. Meeting @ 6PM at the university hospital. May grab dinner there. Actually have pretty good pizza.

Good evening all,

Stormy weather in SE Indiana.  Spent day at home.  Intestinal issues again.  Never been this sick this long.  Getting tired of it.  Bank called and said they had new 1099 for me to pick up but wanted to talk to me about it.  Not sure why.  Will deal with it next week.  Too much stress.  Did look at Lionel RTR catalog.  Another new Alaska car to get.  No new Scout type cars.  Kind of disappointing.  NYC Lightning stripe train looks almost like ones that used to go thru my town.  Would be tempted but awfully pricey.  Stick with Alaska markings for now.  Posted on the first page yesterday and now up to 6 pages.  All you NASCAR fans, welcome to Danica-Land, where nobody else, not even 5 time champions, will get half the air time she does.  I see where Indycar has landed Reubens Barrichello from F-1, who has three times the Twitter followers as Princess Sparkle Pony.  That is a fair trade.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Plane has arrived. Lady just made face as she looked back at departure time(backed up 20 minutes :-() . Might be one of those landing here, rrefueled, cleaned, restocked and then continue on to Ft L. Flights been leaving Charolette early. One flight closed early and plane backed out 10 minutes early. Man came running up with 8 minutes to spare on posted departure time. Told him sorry and go to customer service to rebook. Not good. It has happened to me before.

Kev - that smoke unit should do the trick. Was looking at the boiler kit today. Came w/ a lot of little white metal details. Going to have to learn what they all areTongue Tied

Was fiddling w/ the bell for the 1664 tonight. Brasseur's was out of the bracket so I'll have to work w/ the one I have. Planning on trying her out on the Hardwood Floor Central tonight.

Buckeye and Chuck really fixed me this time.  Got to Ft. Lauderdale after 1 AM.  Then had to ride shuttle to rental car.  Only one desk guy working so lots of folks like me delayed.  Drove to hotel.  Got to room at 3 AM.  Sleeping late, eating late breakfast and then go to the store.  Don't like it, send someone else next time.

BTW: flight attendant called in sick.  Plane late from NY was not used.  We were moved to another wing of the airport.  seems FAA will not let them fly with out a certain number of attendants to the plane's size.  Down sized the plane and left the back 10 rows without a flight.  I still got my first class on row 1.

 Sleep tight.

Morning all. Survived night.  Had some big storms come through, but looking lighter now. Went to bed with a migraine last night. Some good medicine and I feel mostly better now.

Chief, glad you made it.  I too have been stuck and bumped.  No fun, especially when you get in so late.  I would rather leave the next morning, but sometimes it doesn't work out.

There is a marathon race through town today, so we will be staying home and out of the way.  Son's friend is still here.  We may meet his parents for dinner later to make the swap.  With any luck, I can get some scenery done.

Well, gotta run.  Pray that each of you has a safe, blessed weekend.
