Well, didn't die. Town retreat is always a good test of resistance. Only good part was the lunch [fried shrimp, fried fish, fried chicken, pork bar-be-que, potato salad, cole slaw and good ole nanna pudding].
Another bad thing was it was 65 degrees and sunny with no wind outside. Couped up in a room of politicians and staff.

Now that is right up my line. Love spicy chilli.
David, great defense. Still does not work for a Yankee below the M&D.
Headed home.

Sunny and spring-like, high 40s, waiting for the other shoe to drop here Saturday night in the NE USA.
Chief.........you have me worried about you. Think I might skip a day on the teasing or until you are feeling better.
KEV........thanks for the compliment. I updated my avatar because the Doberman that made the finals at Westminister, though a female, looks a lot like my dog in stature, size, and in the face. Can just imagine what a pup from her litter will cost.
DougM........Star Wars in 3D, must have been exceptional. I wonder if anyone on the POT has sprung for a 3D TV, and what you think of it. BTW.........how is your niece doing now that she is home?
Colin.......you are wearing us out JUST READING about your schedule. You are busy!!!!
Banks........glad to hear the little guy is home. I have grandchildren and find myself putting myself in other parents' and grandparents' shoes when something like this goes South with the little ones.
LAZ.........I suppose by now your wifey has begun her "LAZ LONG TERM POST RETIREMENT" honey do list to fill in all of your time voids. Care to share your forthcoming strategy for ducking them?
Jeffrey........does the sun ever shine where you live?!?. Sounds like you should mount pontoons on your van.
HudsonJohn.......what a bad influence you are at work, but I bet you get a lot of free coffee for R&Ring that Hudson. Regarding the bad news on your friend, you have my prayers. That's a tough one. Since my buddy's brush with death, I find I don't have it in me to share the bad news elsewhere in my world. That one kinocked the snot out of me, need to move on and regroup.
Buckeye.......my Dad's family had to sell off all of his AF trains during the Depression just to help put food on the table. So I hear you when you speak of your grandfather and his tough times.
V8..........poor planning by the CA. druggies!!!! They are so busy they can't do a little pre-smuggle planning?
Later, gang!!!!!!!
Jack.

I set up a 685 Hudson, tender and caboose on the shelf behind me in my office. I did not realize what a conversation piece it would turned into. Guys walk in see it and start reminicing of their childhood and remark on how they wish they never got rid of their trains. I think that I will bring in a few more sections of track and expand with some cars. a couple of the female clerks told me stories and one got back into it and started collecting when her daughter was small, because she really liked watching and running her Grandfather's trains and how and why she stopped after her husband died. She came back and asked me to clean and lube an engine for her. My engine inspired her to pull them out and set them up. Wow the engine is a Hudson 2055. It is in great shape. A nice project for tonight.

Lunch Time,
48 and sunny in Central Jersey.
Not much new on the train front for me.
We received bad news here. A good friend of mine who retired a couple of years ago was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Richie was a great mechanic and always a lot of fun to work with.
Colin: I can not wait to see the NS heritage engines either.
RI Jack: The first thing that came to me when you mentioned Daschhounds was the Disney Movie back in the mid 60's. My kids enjoyed it when they saw it on tv a number of years ago.
Chuck and Jack: I love the haz mat scenario.
Buckeye: My Dad told the same story about coal during the depression. So did my Uncles on my Mom's side of the family. A tough time.
Banks: Good news on the Boy.
Traindood: Ken, too bad that I am going to be retired when they update the transmission lines thru your neck of the woods. I was looking forward for lunch at the Chatterbox Drive In on 206. if I recall thre is a model train museum around there. It has been a while since I was out that way. Do I hear road trip?
Chief: Get well.
TGIF, and I am off all weekend and Monday.
Prayers for all in need.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Good Day CTTFans!

Chief: Take care of yourself. You need your rest.
Good morning. It's 52° and cloudy. Expecting a high of 60°. Showers likely this morning then showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Chance of rain is 60% today increasing to 90% tonight.A flood watch is in effect until 6 pm Saturday. Today I'll attempt to weather a couple more cars. I'll see about changing the numbers first. Humidity here is high and may be too high for the weathering powder to work properly. Too much moisture in the air makes it clump. It also has an unfortunate tendency to make sealer spray (Matte Finish) cloud up. Unlike Dull-Cote just spraying over it won't clear it. It just becomes more cloudy. Well, that's all for now.
Buckeye Riveter David......Thank you very much for that sterling defense. Where were you when I really needed you several weeks ago with the Roseyville Police on my tail in North Carolina per direction of the Chief? TGIF.... What a week! Party time!!!

Take care Chief. Pneumonia is nothing to play with.
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Good morning, Bright sun and the frost is melting off of the shed roof in a hurry. Going to hit 50 again today here in North Central Illinois. Nice day to be sitting in the dentist chair. Chief: You had better take care of that pneumonia. Have you ever got the shots for it? As I understand once you get it is much easier to get again and again. Germs in the south never die. Y’all need a good –10 snap of Yankee weather to clean that air up. Jeffery: It wasn’t a big deal I am sure Seaykbill got the information someplace else just like Colin did. BTW How is your foot doing? My new foot medicine is actually working and I may not have to live like a shut-in soon. David. Nice rebuke on the law according to the Chief. Buckeye is safe for now. Can I get hold of you next time I cross the line with the Chief and his home brewed laws?? Sounds like you have your work cut out for you in the new work adventure. Good luck. Colin: We used to hop the trains to when I was a kid to cross town in the 60s because we knew they would not speed up till they got out of town. It was fun, but looking back it was stupid. Roy: Are the lakes filled back up yet? RIJack: I like you updated Avatar

Well Off to the dentist chair. Maybe I will take a nap like Chuck when I get back. These new pills make me sleepy.

Aloha . The sun is shining and it might get up to 50 today. TGIF. Yippee! Took the youngest to see the Star Wars 3D movie yesterday. he bought his light saber and we had the theater to ourselves. I also go a check from the Union Pacific! They run my commute line on behalf of Metra, and I had to turn in a ticket about the expire. I get a kick that they still have a Passenger Line Accounting Department.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s after the fog leaves. Took it easy again last night. Will be a busy weekend. I heard the Lionel RTR catalog was making the rounds at the Toy Fair. Any rumors floating around it? TMCC man good to see you posting frequently again. Your enthusiasm for life is most welcome here. Not much else to report. Will be a busy weekend on the home front. I had the regular fare for breakfast. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Konbanwa,
I attended the base's annual awards show tonight. A few of my folks were up for awards but unfortunately they did not win. On the way home it was flurrying a little, but Chuck needs to turn up the snow cannon. I am looking forward to this three-day weekend.
David - Congratulations on starting the career.
Colin - I am excited about the LV and RDG versions as well.
Banks - That's great news on the boy.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a frosty 34 degrees. Going up to 48 today.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and an errand to run. I will take a nap after lunch. Not much else new.
Buckeye & LAZ....... TGIF
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Friday.

Hello all,
TGIF!!!!!!!!!
Been a long week.
Chief, take care of yourself.
Mrs & I had a late Valentine's date last evening to avoid the crowd. Took in the 4:30 showing of The Vow. Then a nice dinner.
The boy I mentioned last weekend is home from the hospital and doing fine. Thanks again for your prayers.
Not much planned for the weekend. Hope to get the Oliver put back together.
SS fund calls. Maybe I'll get back over the weekend.
Prayers for those in need.

Partly sunny and in the 40's today.
Long day at the plant today. Productive though. Looks like I got my new product samples run in time to keep me out of the plant this weekend.
I sniped a Burro crane on e-bay the other night. Reasonable price. Is one of the re-releases from a few years ago.
All for now.
P.S. Chief - Yankees like me, who grew up in Michigan, can tell the difference between snow and grits. While you will fool some folks in these parts, I'll be able to set them straight and help orgainize the retaliation return for of the mess goods to their point of origin. Remember, we've got the B2's at Whiteman near by. You'll never see it coming.........
David.........the Chief makes up the rules as he goes along. It's a Southern thing.
Chief.........lay low. for your recovery. Jeffrey did not take all of your stash for UltraLite fuel and refreshments on his return flight to Sundown. He left you a couple of jugs. They were sitting right next to the still on top of a wooden box marked "Fresh Road Kill" and were marked "Eagles Nest Vintage December 2011."

Good night. Dr. called. Its pneumonia. Stayed in starting at noon as the rain moved in. Good showers all afternoon. Warm and foggy now.
Buckeye Riveter tmcc man: Oh and for anyone who interested in this too... NORFOLK, Va. — To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Norfolk & Western/Southern merger in 1982, Norfolk Southern plans to honor many of the railroads that make up the present day NS system. As Union Pacific did a half-decade ago, NS plans to create a fleet of heritage locomotives, though NS’s plans are bigger: 18 units honoring a wide variety of predecessor roads. I can't wait to see those Wabash units. Do you think the railroad remembers when my grandfather stole coal from the Wabash to heat his house during the depression and hold that against me? During the depression when the trains slowed down, they would jump on the hopper cars carrying coal and throw it off on to the ground. Later they would pick the coal up with gunny sacks and use it in the stove to heat the house.

Sleep tight.
Evening all!
Long day today. Cooler today (50's) but nice. More rain on the way. Bring it on.
Cabella's in Buckeye Corners - OMG
Hope all are well and have a great day tomorrow!

Evening all,
Everyone, I got my information from an email that was sent to me from a friend. It's my understanding that the information was first reported by TRAINS magazine. If I offended the magazine, I am sorry for that.
Buckeye: it's funny you mention that. My neighbor, while he didn't steal coal, used to hop on flatcars when he was a kid (He's 40 something now) and used it to go to school in the mornings. I thought that was kinda funny, but then again I'm not really surprised he had done that before.
I'm on my 2nd Redbull today so I can knock out a few papers that are due next week. I'm painting all day tomorrow and I won't be home for most of the weekend, so I want to get the assignments completed tonight.
Talk to you guys later!

It got pretty warm in STL today - I think it was in the 50s? All the snow is gone, but with all the rain and melt it is pretty muddy/wet out. I stopped at LaZBoy today, but they don't have parts in the store. I called the repair people and they are sending me a replacement part, including the arm and the little end piece that I actually need. I also found out that the only way to get rid of this repeating error message on my phone was to reset it. I updated the operating system and ever since I kept getting some kind of tether error message? I reset and it restored my phone contacts twice? Anyway, I reset again and I think I have a handle on it, but I will have to reload some apps I had. Oh well, just another day in paradise.
TARDIS will be ready in a while, just waiting for some beacons on the scope!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Make that two. That's the last for today.
37 now, 43 was the hi today. not normal February weather at all but I'll take it. Didn't do much after shopping this morning...S.J.
Good evening everyone. Checking in from a cv surgery meeting at Sanibel Island, Florida. Temps have been in low 80s and it is beautiful! First time here, but it is a nice place. Haven't found any train stores to visit, but I have been busy with meetings while family takes in the beach.
Chief, can't believe you would make such nasty statements! Glad they were able to block the page!
Gotta get to sleep, long day of meetings tomorrow.
God bless,
Dennis
