RI Jack your photo story describes my daughter-in law almost down to the last pic. She takes pictures for every family event BUT I've never seen one printed except when she made family blankets for the 2 granny's. Having a roll of film developed just kinda kept things under control.

Good morning all, had a big breakfast today with home fries, left over pork chop, eggs, coffee and toast.  Probably should skip lunch!

Chief, hope you get the heat pump going today.  I think I need to buy a new one myself.  The old one still works on cooling but not on heat.  Also the handheld controller does not work either even after changing batteries.  Dealer has been trying to find me one but unit is obsolete and not made anymore.  He says the law only requires that they keep parts for 10 years.  After that you're on your own.  If the unit did not work at all, I wouldn't hesitate to get a new one but I hate to throw it out when the air conditioning part still works.  We use our heat pump in an add on room but the main house is OK with forced air heat.

Jeffrey, sounds like you are doing better or maybe just ignoring your aches and pains.  Anyway, glad to see you are active and doing things.

Jack, bless you for taking care of your buddy.  Good on you! as they say down under.

Rain gone and sunshine back.  Going up to 80 by midweek.  This is why I live in California in spite of negative things.

Prayers for those in need of themAngel

later,

Ray

Howdy All.

Hudson John, A package is on it's way, Priority Mail so it should be at your place Thursday/friday time frame. They really came thru, think they felt a tad guilty for being a bit slow.

Jack, If somebody came into our house that didn't know my "better Half" they'd think we had 20 or 30 grandsons instead of just one. There is virtually no vacant wall space, and I don't mean just the puny 5x7 or 8x10 photos, she goes for the really big photos. With so many digital photos ever thought of setting up a photo slide show during family events, theme based of course.

Some of the photographers that do weddings are now doing this at the reception. They will set-up a laptop slide show of the wedding so the reception guests can view them at their leisure during the festivities.

Later All

Trying to catch up!!!!!!!!! Bang Head

It was 50 this morning when I got up at the crack of dawn to let the pup out.  Crystal clear and sunny on tap for today or tomorrow.  The 40s temps and the rain the past two days eliminated what little snow we had.  At this rate, we may sail through the 2011-2012 Winter with a near record low snowfall.......which I think was 14 inches a few years back.  I have not even fired up the snowblower in earnest yet!!!! Thumbs Up

Re the Giants versus the Patriots in the Super Bowl.......I need to know how many points you faithful Giants blowhards die-hards are going to spot me for our bet. Whistling

Was working through the honey do list. Used some "Stainless Steel Magic" on the refrigerator to eradicate spillage, drips, dog slobber, and kiddie fingerprints.  It did a remakable and fast job!!!  What does my wife notice?  "Hey Jack......where did this dent in the door come from?" Bang Head  I also wasn't fond of the cost of the water filter cartridge which came to $48 and came with installation intructions that were incorrect on the deinstallation of the old one.  In the old days we didn't need no stinking water filters, and there were no ill effects. Bang Head

Also on the wifey front......her car is sitting safe and sound in the garage.  Told me she was taking my car this AM.  I incorrectly assumed it was because my car was blocking hers.  Nope.  The gas gauge on her car is pegged on "E."  Bang Head

8N........prayers for your Mom's continued recovery. Angel  And Bow for your recent road trip for a visit.  I hear you about the distance issue.  For the wife and I, it's nearly 1,100 miles each way by car, or a Fort Knox expenditure if we fly/rent car.  Pick your poison. Bang Head

HudsonJohn........prayers continue for brave little Kyle. Angel   Puts an eye-opening, attitude correctiion on the small issues we face each day.

Brutus.......hope all of Char's test results are solid.  Hang in there, buddy.  Prayers continue for more good news. Angel

KEV.......you had better lock up your Deere or you might find it missing should Roseyville's mayor have trouble finding one just like it.  His complimentary comments on yours was disturbing.  He has tow vehicles and trailers at the ready. Wink

Rich........I hope you take the time and have the space to prominently display your award rather than placing it in a drawer somewhere.

Jeffrey........is there anything you can't fix?  Thought of you yesterday when both of my knees were barking at me all day long, and I don't even know what I did to them.

Charlie........great shots of the family, taking in the wonders of a Michigan Winter.  Chief is jealous.  Whistling  I would like to see photos of SJ, his dog sled, and his team up there to join you. Whistling

JoeyD.......it doesn't matter the sport.  You always get that type of response from some parents overly worried about injury to their child.  Silence was certainly golden in this instance or you might have found yourself out scrubbing birdie doo doo of of runways. Smile, Wink & Grin

LAZ.......exactly how many minutes OTJ until retirement? Laugh

JimmyT........if you someday care for a wife the way you care for your ProbeGT, you will have her for a very very long time.  That could be a good thing, maybe not.  WhistlingDevil

COLIN........where have you been?  It was good to hear from you again.  In a conversation I once had with my Dad, I compared going to school like serving out a prison sentence with no opportunity for parole.  He was not amused.  Stick out tongue

Dennis........I still have not read the instruction manual for my new camera.  Frustration is a huge motivator!

Later, gang.

I stand by what I posted. I was NOT the one who posted about it originally and what was posted couldn't be further from the truth. Anyone who knows anything about Joe Paterno would not have posted what was posted, because Paterno has never stood for anything other than what was right and just.

What has been broadcast in the media is nothing more than a witch hunt and slanderous campaign in an attempt to smear Joe Paterno's name and reputation. The media, specifically sports media, has been looking for any reason to bring him down for the past 40 years. Paterno won college football games with STUDENTathletes, he preached the need for a quality education and higher GPA standards, and academic program standards, than what the NCAA required and people HATED him for it.

That's all the more I'll say and I'm done.

Shot a big red squirrel for the neighbor to bate the coyotes with. Devil

RI Jack, same here but not near so many pictures in our collection. I just let the kids do the taking. Not a day goes by that the daughter is not e-mailing us another picture of the granddaughter. Sigh

JohnF Sounds like fun having someplace you can go to keep busy and be around trains.  Thumbs Up

Chief, Thanks for sending the package. I got your e-mail and replied.  Yes

RT, I would like a laptop next time too. The house is wireless because when I was working they paid to get it set up so I could have my privacy invaded at anytime they wanted to do it. Tongue Tied

The PC I have is from about 2003 I had got it for the daughter then she blew its hard drive up with the SIMS game so I had a new hard drive installed and have been using it ever since. Confused

SPRay dose not sound like you need heat that often anyway. Paradise

Jeffrey........is there anything you can't fix?  Thought of you yesterday when both of my knees were barking at me all day long, and I don't even know what I did to them.

Not much, as long as I can get the parts or have parts made or adapted. I used to be a pretty fair mechanic and one of my hobbies was rebuilding cars and building hot rods. I had to drop that due to health reasons. Yeah, yesterday I was feeling pains too and I'm still feeling it today.

Well I finally got the Peerless tractor back together. Had to go back twice because of one small part. It's a small snap ring that holds the left front strut/spindle assembly in place. The first one was a hair too big and didn't fit properly. Got the right one the second time around. It's simple to put in. Just start it on then knock it into place with a hammer. That's after you're already using two hands to hold the strut/spindle in place and hold the ring so it can be hit. I put the wheel on the spindle with no bearings then put my foot under the tire to hold the assembly in place so I could use my free hand to swing the hammer. After that greasing the spindle and putting on the bearings and wheel was a cake walk. The tie rod went back on without a problem. So, my beast is ready for the mowing season. Problem now is I'm so tired I don't want to work on the Athearn F7. Guess it'll have to wait a while.

It was my intention to let the JoeP subject drop. However there is someone who won't let it go. He has to answer for his own actions.

Evenin' fellas and gals:   Swell day here, warm and mild.  Hands are on the mend after a small infection that the doc treated with wood rasp and a ball pein hammer!  Ouch!  Feel much better now.  Been layin' low and gettin' fat. Watchin' plenty of t.v. I never knew i was missing so much terrible programs. Ugh!  Did enjoy the playoff football games.  Since i'll admit to being a Giants fan, it was swell seeing 'em play so well. If i was the Pat's, the last team i would want to play was the Giants.  They are on a roll, team of destiny. Should be a great contest, as long as Steve Tyler doesn't sing again!  Whew! Please, somebody tell this guy. Give our collective ears a break!          later.

Laz, We are in the San Diego Model RR Museum in Balboa Park. The biggest layout is the "HO"  but there are also "N", 2r "O" and the most popular "The Toy Train Gallery"(3r). Smile, Wink & Grin

Went by a new Hobby Lobby in Temecula, ain't got squat as far as trains are concerned. Maybe a half dozen HO sets and nothing else, no scenry items  or anything else. Maybe it's just a Christmas item for them.

Oh well, the Better Half treated me to lunch for taking her there, some really good Mexican food, best I've had in a long time, now I feel a bit like a piggy. Oink, oink ! Zzz  Probably had enuff salt for the next three days. Ashamed

Lost another drive gear on one of my Lionel FT's, worst part is that there are no replacements available. Will have to have it replaced with a non-flywheel can motor.  Bang Head

Thunderstorms are past for now and we're getting a long slow rain. The radar picture is improving but the weather guesser is promising more doom and gloom. I'm glad I got the tractor back together before the storm busted loose. I hate working in the rain. Weather guesser says tomorrow there will be 70% or better chance of showers and severe thunderstorms with heavy rain. I may get to work on the Athearn after all. The rest of this evening, tonight and early tomorrow morning are looking ugly. Hope I don't lose power. That would majorly suck. Well, it's time to get back to the bed and rest my weary body.

Ohayō (O-hi-o for Chuck),

I just wanted to quickly check in and apologize for my initial comment about JoePa.  I did not intend to start any heated discussions, I only wanted to comment about his passing and make a quick comment alluding to the different ways his career may be viewed.  We all have different opinions on this subject and many other subjects as well, and I wasn't trying to stir up anything in the Pot.  I'm sorry.  I'll stick to harassing the old guys and the Rebs. Evenin' all! Not much going on just the same old, same old.  This past weekends games turned out to be great games. Sometimes when you watch a game without a favorite playing you can find yourself rooting for one as the game goes on. Thats how I was with the Ravens. I felt for the kicker. He missed an easy one, sorry fifedog.

Charlie - Nice pics of you and the kids. Looks like it was a real good time.

HudsonJohn - Getting this issue ironed out with my AF prewar 561 will be real nice and thanks for your help. It will run on your loop within 10 days (I hope).

Jack - NONONONO! You've got it all wrong! You have one of the all-time greats throwing that ball! We get the points.

Brent - I can't say I agree with SJ entirely but I can't fully disagree either. I admit that I don't know all the details. But one thing is true. It happened under his watch. Sadly we may never find out the whole truth and for all the good he did, and there was alot of good, his reputation is somewhat tarnished.

traindood - yyyyyyyour back? NICE!

John, thanks for your good work at the museum. Glad you're on the mend, Traindood. Kev, that's my youngest a few years back - he's nine now Smile.  I was just looking for a shot of the layout before I set it up. Jack, my wife has been pretty good at making albums over the years though she still has a closet full of old photos to do someday. I think I have everything digital now and save them all to multiple places in the cloud. Finally converted all the old VHS and mini-disk videos to DVDs. Isn't it interesting how these things change? SJ gave me some great ideas for fastening track together. Off to the basement!

Good evening everyone.  Was a good, but long day.  Did an early case this morning, but everything went very well and that is always a good thing.  There was a big medical staff meeting tonight as a consulting firm has made some suggestions to cut costs and to manage the schedule a little better.  Our biggest issue is the number of emergent cases we do.  You can't schedule emergencies, if you could, they wouldn't be emergent.

One of the ortho surgeons who lives around the corner from me had significant damage to his house, built in pool, and car from the storm that came through.  I did a secondary search around our house and vehicles to make sure of things.  Only problems are some trees that were knocked down and plenty of pine straw and mulch all piled up.  There were some flyers on the door and mailbox for tree removal.  I have a chainsaw and matches, I will take cars of it myself.

Regarding Joe P., I don't know what he knew, but I do know a pro football player who had gone up to a training camp for boys in high school and when he got there, he was warned to stay away from Sandusky.  So, some folks knew and this went back awhile.  Can't mention the name of the player as he was a patient, but I would say he is credible.  I personally believe the only real way to move forward is to forgive.  Even for the poor kids who endured the abuse.  Sandusky will be punished, but to hold bitterness in your heart does more to hurt you than the person you are mad at.  Joe P. was well loved and respected by many.  He will be missed.

Joe, yeah, mocking the 6's kid is poor form if they outrank you.  Silence was certainly the best method.  I have scolded kids in front of their parents (only if it affected my child) but sometimes, a child need discipline, even if their parent doesn't know better.  In your 6's case, she is going to raise a child who is afraid to compete.  Probably will hide from a baseball too.

Chief, was good to talk the other night.  Hope you are able to find the remote.  Sounds like the box is coming along.  You may want to get aome Halon fire extinguishers that have the heat release just in case.  Your trains need protecting.

RT, we have several computers, including two laptops.  Our latest laptop is a Toshiba satellite.  You can get one for about $350.00.  In our experience, it was money well spent.  it has plenty of memory and has lasted being used by two small children for some time now.

Time for bed.  Hope each of you has a blessed night.

Dennis

Greetings from the secret bomb shelter (National Conference Center - a giant concrete BUNKER with cold floors, tiny rooms, but good food).  Training is going okay, can't wait to get back home of course.  Char did fine with the test and apparently they got a good sample of bone marrow and lots of blood, which are great signs.  Last time she really suffered as she had a clot in somewhere down in the muscle tissue, but this time she is doing fine - new intern.  She can still feel it a bit, but not the really painful event of last time.  Her mom already went back to KC today as STL is due to freezing rain tomorrow or something.  Trying to get used to the 1 hour time change and get some sleep in a strange room etc.  I'll probably be fine about the time I can go home Laugh  I caught up on the pot and glad to see all are doing pretty well.  Jack - glad your friend is doing so well.  8NT - ditto for your Mom.  John Hudson, continued prayers for your co-workers and the young man.  Nice to see Colin again!  Chief - I have passed the word Smile  Great stuff guys, just can't comment on it all and I'm falling asleep now!!!

SJ - you let MIKE drive tonight and come pick me up - no loop d loops for me please!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

The last I'm saying about the subject is I really think I have a bit deeper knowledge of the intricicies of this topic.

The information that has been posted is ONLY what the major media outlets have fed you. There is a LOT more to this case than you obviously have researched/read. I urge you to do so, educate yourselves. I can gaurantee you had Joe known his superiors would drop the ball so utterly misserably he WOULD have done more. There was no love lost between Paterno and Sandusky after Paterno told Sandusky he would NEVER be head coach at PSU because of the time he was devoting to The Second Mile... Paterno has said on numerous occasions that he RARELY spoke to Sandusky after he resigned.

I need to cool off about this... so it will be a long time before I return.

Evening everyone,

Another late night here, and not because of law classes. Being 21 and returning from a month long college break has enabled me to stay up until all hours of the night. I didn't mind it over break or during the weekends but it's pretty annoying during the week!

Chief: All is well here. My parents and I are all sick right now, but we're getting better everyday. Hopefully it'll be over soon because I'm headed to the mountains for a weekend, followed by a week in Key West for spring break with a few friends.

Demay: I wish I had the time I used to. But, and education is priceless! I love what I'm studying, so it isn't too bad. I do, luckily, have the time to go out and railfan occasionally which is definitely good for relaxation.

RockIsland52: Been busy with seeing as many friends as I could before they all left for school again as well as a ton of school work from last semester! Finished with a 3.5 GPA, so it was well worth it! I'm aiming for a 4.0 this semester, so I definitely have to keep up with the work!

I stopped into my local gun store the other day for a look around. I was reading 'Special Weapons' earlier in the day and saw the Sig Sauer 716, so I wanted to see if they had any that I could take a look at. It's a 7.62x51 (.308) and it's nice, but it's around $1700 and they have none available. I'm not immediately ready to buy, but I have my eye on one of those, or a Stag Arms AR15.

I was supposed to catch the last Conrail painted SD60I (6718) on the NS roster tonight, but my contact backed out at the last minute so I don't know of its whereabouts. I'm gonna try and glass it on one of the Westbounds tomorrow, and I'm hoping it'll leave in the daylight.

I'm gonna try and get some sleep, night all!

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Partly sunny and in the 40's today.

Most of my projects at work that I set up to run on remote control before I left last week did what they were supposed to, so the amount of catch up at work today was minimal.

Got home and found that the March issue of CTT had arrived today.  Interesting, large layouts in this one.

All for now.
