Thanks guys, was hoping to be home, but now I am stuck doing a late case and will miss the time home with my family.  We will make the time up after I come off call on Monday.  Glad georgia is not one of the first states for primaries.  The commercials are quite tiresome even when watching the national news.

Laz, the deer are plentiful here, and we have a long season.  May have to get you in the woods down here.

On a good note, we got an update on our son in China.  He has completed his recovery from surgery and has been transferred to foster care until we are able to get there.  No updates on our daughter, but we probably will not get an update until we get the travel approval from the Chinese government.  One thing about the updates and photos, it makes us that much more anxious to get them home.

Better check on the cases to see if I am needed soon.

God bless,

Dennis

Time for me to call it a night. I went to the fire dept meeting tonight to learn about the new brush truck that's being bought. It's a 2012 Ford F350 and is currently being fitted out with some of the things the dept needs put on it. Too bad I won't be there to see it completed. Tonight the chief informed me he doesn't want me working on the trucks any longer because of the risk of injury. Next week I'm making my retirement from the dept official. I'll not be there as some useless relic. If I can't work as part of the dept I don't need to be there. Tomorrow I'll be getting my gear together for turn-in. Badge #3 will no longer be on the roster.

Got a little more done on the layout but not enough to make any difference in appearance.

See y'all tomorrow.

Jeff - not going to get into it... not worth the time if your system is that old.

Got down to the trainroom tonight and found that one of my abutements for the girder bridge was done wrong as it sticks out to far on one side so it interferes with the abutement for the twin arch under bridges... Bang Head and I don't have the proper wood stock to build a new one... Bang Head so a trip to Lowes tomorrow is in order.

Probably my last night in the trainroom for at least a week due to work commitments and an NFL playoff game on Sunday.

Found an SD card that I thought I had lost! Glad I found it because it contained pictures from a family visit... memories I didn't want to lose. Time to go through the cards and get the pictures off them and onto the external drive.

Sunny and in the 50's today.  Temperature is falling, wind is blowing, and snow is on the way tonight.

Happy birthday Dennis!  Good news on the kids, too - it sure is moving fast!

Charlene has a doctor appointment to measure her eyes for her upcoming cataract surgeries.  Now they say it will snow and we'll have ice tonight.  I hope they close school so the kids are just at home, otherwise things could get complicated fast.

TARDIS is ready I guess.

Evenin' All.

Kind of a quiet day today, laundry Grumpy.

Will be at the museum on friday and trying to work the Kid's Club on monday since we will be open for MLK Holiday. Will see how it goes, this will be the first Kid's Club for me since heart attack. If I get to tired, the kiddos keep ya' hoppin', I'll just have to depart early.

Since just before Thanksgiving there has been a Lego set-up at the museum. Unfortunately the better half took some photos and let's just say that photography is not her strong point. Evening All....

Dennis Happy Birthday !! Cake Beer

Finally got the flagpole and eagle all cleaned and painted.  Going to replace the pulley and rope and stand it back up tomorrow.  (Ran out of daylight)

Then take down Christmas Layout, and work in train room.  Yahoo!!

Will post some pictures of the buildings when I get them positioned and connected.

Glad to hear the "Frank" is doing better.   Just need for Dennis (V8), and Doug (dg) to get better as well.

Kev,   All the North/South stuff, and the REBs vs Yanks is tradition on this thread, we couldn't change that.  There wouldn't be near the stuff to tease about.  Even the title of the thread carries the theme.  It's all in fun.  Enjoy.

Think I will go check out a couple of old westerns on Encore.

BTW, I put a thread on the "REAL TRAINS" section of the other forum, entitled "Suggestions Needed" regarding the job change I have upcoming.  Some of it is interesting, impressed with the replies.

Take Care and God Bless..

Aloha Paradise. Looks like our nice weather disappears today. Had a rough day of work yesterday. Those happen, but Hopefully today will be better/. Brent, sounds like you're really making progress with that part of the layout. Dennis, hope you get to celebrate today instead. I like the 'ol EJ&E. They painted a tower out by me in their orange and greenish colors.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a nasty 43 degrees. Light rain. Turning to snow and getting colder. High 44 degrees.

Today is an easy day. I have a small project to work on and the usual chores. I plan on taking it easy. A nap later, for sure.

Dining car is here with an omlet for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Kev - the whole North/South thing is just good fun ribbing... we all know The North is where it is at (They even hold THE GREATEST train meet in The North)!

8N - Murphy is not permitted any where near this project! And yes the plumbing will be a cake walk. I have to cut the cold water supply to the hot water heater and make the run straight, same with the hot water return. The current run is about 10 feet for each and the new runs will be about 5 feet. All the plumbing in the house is PVC so it makes it 1,000x easier than sweating copper! The problem is going to be determining how wide to make the pocket door (really considering 2 convergant 30inch panels) and how wide to make the under-the-stairs-closet door (was leaning toward 36inch door, but I have a 32inch door that I will be removing and could just reuse so leaning more that way at this moment) and then determining how wide to make the passage between the existing finished basement and the new area (36inches is code, but I'm considering 40inches because the closet and furnace room will be across from each other and I think the additional 4inches would be welcome when trying to get things into and out of the closet and when replacing the hot water heater or furnace).

Doug - I was making GREAT progress till the abutement debacle last night! I have to get this side done before I can get the other side finished, so hopefully I'll get it all figured out soon! I also cut the abutements too short, so I'll have to cut new ones (but I already have enough 1x3 stock to make that happen).

Konbanwa,

Thursday came and went quickly.  Work was fine but a few of us went out for sushi and it was delicious.  The restaurant had a sushi conveyor belt going around it.  All we had to do was simply take what we thought looked good.  I probably ate about 15 pieces of sushi and had some soup as well, and it only cost about $15.  One of the guys with us reads and speaks Japanese so for the most part we knew what we were eating.  I had some very tasty salmon and tuna.  Not to mention scallops; those were actually seared first.  However, I did back down from trying the "baby anchovies."  I like anchovies and actually use them in sauces but this stuff looked like creamy entrails.  I did not want to try it today because everything else was so good and I did not want to risk ruining the experience.  I will try it in the future.

I'll pray for 8N's mom's rehab; Char's appointment; and Frank; as well as general intentions.

Sayonara,

Joe

Kev, its always been a joke along with the grits and sweet ice tea thing.  If you feel offended, I apologize.  Its like me ribbiing Sir James about the snow and MI.  Then he gets me right back.  All in fun.

Back from meeting.  Box mover is coming by to see if too wet.  He is 3 hours late getting started.  Since I have done most of his work getting ready. he still could get it here today if not too wet.

Going into the 60's today.  Cooler tomorrow.
