Dennis no I didn't but thanks anyway. sorry meant to tell you that but I got sniped at the end with a couple of bids I wasn't ready to meet lol.

But did the other night get the Lionel's 11718 N&S DASH 8-40C UNIT TRAIN its from 1992 it has the 5 trailers on flats the trailers are triple crown.

Not a lot else going on here today list a few items on bay of E as just getting rid of items don't need anymore some trains some not lol.

did set up my G gauge train set the other day it's has a oval on the floor in front of the fireplace ( we don't use) waiting for the Christmas tree to jump in the middle of it lol. I guess I will put some buildings in there with it like my dept. 56 buildings and all will look good with it just need to get down and do it. Have a PRR 4-6-0 with a boxcar, a passenger car, and a observation car behind it. need to clean this room up some first lol thats what I'm working on today as wife cooks our turkey.

Probably make some turkey salad out of some of the left overs if I can cut it up small enough suppose to be getting a meat grinder that attachés to my mixer but that probably won't come till after Christmas as it said 6 to 8 weeks. Need to get some 9v batteries for my tender for engine chugging sound and for lights for the passenger cars wish I could hook them up to track voltage some how would need different wheel sets first thou with a isolation in the middle of the axles.

Mornin All.

The scale told the tale of an over-indulgence of sodium on Thanksgiving, stepped on it yesterday morning and it's first comment was "please one at a time". Sigh Between thursday and friday I gained two and a half pounds as well as the BP going up, this morning the BP is back down a bit and the weight is down about three quarter pound. No salt today. With a below normal EF water retention is very bad news.

May go to the museum tomorrow, nobody is signed-up to run. The better half has said it is ok with her, she is my support crew when I go there. If I do I think I'll take the munchkin so he can run some trains there. Since he has done this before he doesn't get quite the charge from his Thomas layout that he used to.

Joe, I used a combination of both styles for my ceiling track, one section that passes in front of an 8ft wide closet with floor to ceiling doors is suspended from the ceiling rafters while the rest is mounted on wall brackets. By the way, what's with all the Ok seismic activity since you guys left? Clown

Supposed to have some gorgeous weather for the next 6 or 7 days. Thumbs Up

Forgot what else I was going to say, later all.

Time for morning pills, Cheerios done.

You nailed it!. I avoid the stores during such sales. If I can't find what I want at a more civilized time I don't need it.

The mini Berkshire will haul all 7 P.E. cars up that grade - but it is working extremely hard to do so.  It seems happier with four.

All for now.

Wonder how difficult it would be to add an ERR Cruise Commander to the PE to aid in going up-n-down those grades.

Aloha from a grey and drizzly Crystal Lake where I'm ready for the college kids to go back to college.... Happy Anniversary, Ray! Fife, W&LE is a great scheme - I like orange -  like used by the Chicago South Shore and South Bend and the Elgin Joliet & Eastern.  Accompanied my wife on a few of her errands today. I had nothing in particular to pick-up but found an inexpensive string of LED lights and a nice ceramic house for the layout at Ace Hardware. Joe, unpacking 600 boxes is quite an achievement... Dennis, glad you and your son had a good outdoors experience. 8n, the layout looks great!

Hope to run trains a bit later when my wife takes the youngest out to a movie.

Ray, Happy Anniversary!  Hope you and the Mrs. have a great day.  Chief, you should have said "Michigan beat THE Ohio State", I was corrected on that a time or two.

Wife has been under the weather all day, so I have had to step up and be Mr. Mom.  Lots of work goes into that, hope she is back to speed soon, I can't keep up for long.

Doug, it is expected that you would have moments of up and down on both weight and BP.  Just don't let the BP get too high, or low!  Sustained high BP can cause a number of issues...none of them good.

DougM., thanks for the kind thoughts, we did have a great time.  Glad we were able to as such moments are real special, and they are only young once.  Trying to shape his life experiences.  If he chooses to hunt in the future, that is his option, but he is learning how...and patience too.

Both kids spent a good bit of the day shooting tin cans with BB guns.  Was fun to watch them.  They play well together...mostly.  Tried to do some layout work, but what I need to do requires power tools and I didn't want to get into the noise till my bride is feeling better.

Joe, sounds like you are getting settled there.  Hope you are able to figure out the layout plan soon.  If a ceiling layout is not possible, what about under the bed?  One  of the mags and also the O-gauge video had some ideas on making one.

God Bless,
Dennis

Ohayō,

We don't have much planned today.  We will go to church and then relax at home.  The two older kids and I have some leaves to rake.  I don't like to work on Sunday, but I ran out of time yesterday.  The base inspects yards every Tuesday morning so it has to be done.  I cannot wait until I get home from work tomorrow because it is pretty dark by 1700.

SJ - Thanks for reply.  I'm glad you learned how to PM on here.

Doug M - Yes, it was quite the feat.  And to think we placed about 2,500 pounds of our stuff into storage.

Dougdagrump - How do you have the track suspended from the ceiling?  Do you have any photos posted?  I will be using FasTrack.

Sayonara,

Joe

Dennis,

I am hoping to make the ceiling layout work.  The bedrooms are small and my older son's bed is a bunk bed with a single-size mattress.  However, he and I have discussed running the train under his bed should the ceiling plan not work.  I don't believe we will be able to do that in the 16-month-old's room.  He likes to play on his floor a lot and he also likes to smash things with his toy hammer.

Hi All,

Rain still and more to come then cold in north central Illinois. About time, it is after all November 26th.

God made sure I had something to do in the basement today. I got my new smoke generator for my USS docksider from Lionel in the mail. That engine is 5# of C&%p in a 2# bag. Laugh

My N&S caboose came FedX from kgtrains and was not as I had thought it would be. Super Angry   So I had to take it apart to do repairs on it...... Burnt out light, bad pick up roller, glued brake wheel and bad dirty. It was advertised as excellent?????? Been runing trainc all night.   Yes

cnwDougM: What about that plain crash ?? Was it by you?? Saw something about it on the news, sounds bad.  Surprise

Night guys!!

Page 41.....NICE!

Been a long weekend thus far, Thanksgiving in VA, rushed and got the train layout up and running just as zero hour loomed, Santa and town lighting went off smoothly.  Unloaded 300 trees for sale as a fund raiser for the FD (Station 41)and we start selling tomorrow!

Went shopping then picked up Princess in Newark (came home from VA via Bolt Bus) and her bus was 1 hour late.  Home now, her new BF showed up for a visit and here we are.

Good to see all had a great Turkey Day, ours was great as my twin nieces and nephew were home from college.  A nice feast.

Missing all the good riding weather 'cuz of the  many responsibilities lately....neon, however is about done in, as the ravages of high mileage and flooding is hurting it.  IF I could get up $3K ( could repair it...or replace it!

RT - Thank you!  You continue to serve!

Should have pictures later...to all a good night....

Hi guys! Had a typical Saturday at work and logged in the normal 9 hours followed by a nice time at HudsonJohns' kids birthday party. Good food and Beer, but no Becks, I guess he didn't read the Pot yesterday. Then to the "Saturday night poker game" at the inlaws, great day.

SPRay - Congrats on the anniversary! Many more!

That's about it,

I don't think it would be that difficult to add an ERR Cruise Commander to the PE.  A couple of years ago I did some research on this installation and learned that the original PE is not the same as the model now being sold.  ERR always can tell you if it will fit if you have basic info on the model.

You can see photos of diesel installations at:

Rainy, windy, and in the 40's today.

Jonadel - The Polar Express layout I'm working on is 6' by 9'.

SPman - happy anniversery.

Ordered some scenery and wiring goodies for the layout today.  Ran it for a while making notes for improvements in the benchwork and getting ideas for speed control on the grades.

A Cruse Commander conversion would help, but it is not in the budget at this time.  Seems like I've read about a TMCC conversion on a Jr. Berkshire sometime, somewhere.

My new CTT arrived today - wet around the edges.

All for now.

Evening all!

Cloudy, some drizzle, and getting colder here. Some areas to freeze tonight.

Wrapped up the visit from the wife's sisters. The whole gang went to a Christmas Tree farm about an hour away, we had a picnic, and then rode a hay wagon out to cut several trees (we watched - we have an artificial tree) for the various families present (about 20 folks, 5 families). Then some of us went to Texas Roadhouse for supper. Had a good time. All the in-laws leave in the morning.

Buckeye - sorry about the kidney stone.

Ray - mega-congrats on the 52nd anniv! Wow! Gift

Joe - glad the move-in is going well!

8ntruck - thanks for the track cutting jig photo. I believe you said you were using a high tooth count carbide blade (80+ teeth?)?

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Mornin' boys.  Partly cloudy and 39 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Have to run middle princess back to college today.  Perhaps do a little Christmas shopping in Chesapeake City along the way.  Strung the icicle lights across the front, then cleaned the fish pump Ick!.  Took the ladies to see the Maxi-puppy.  He and his siblings are 4 wks old, and very cute.  I had to check their pockets and handbags before we left...  Came home and spent some time with grandson.  Need to crackin' with the trains.

Buckeye - the past couple seasons, we've been getting solid strings of W&LE hoppers (carrying ore I believe) through Baltimore and down to Sparrows Point.  Once in awhile, CSX will leave the W&LE diesels tied on for the trip.  I never cared all that much for the D&RGW engines, but the speed lettering looks fabulous on this regional.  Just got to get MTH to crank out more samples...

Good morning everyone.  Wife is still under the weather and not too happy right now.  Have a few things to do to get the kids up and going and then off to church.  I am on camera today, so I will pre-medicate with some ibuprophen.  My back and neck take a beating with camera duty.

Joe, yeah, I guess a toddler could do some real damage to the trains if they were a under the bed type.  Good luck with the ceiling.  I know there is an advertiser in CTT with  this style, but I think they are expensive.

8N, I think that Marty E had posted on installing TMCC or a cruise commander in a PE Berk Jr. some time back.  you may be able to do a search and find it.  A cheaper method may be to isolate that down grade and have it go to a separate transformer (phased) to have a lower voltage/speed.  This way, you could adjust it as needed verses just using diodes and being locked in at the controls of the main transformer.

It is a cloudy day here.  Supposed to have a storm front coming through tonight, into tomorrow with a 20 degree temp drop and rain.  Should be good for the crops as they are getting the fields ready.  Some farms have spread fertilizer and the nose knows which ones.

Hope each of you has a blessed day,
Dennis

Good morning. It's 48° and cloudy. The high will be 52° and it will be partly cloudy. There's a 30% chance of rain this morning. The projected low tonight is 32°.

I may get a couple of small weathering projects done today. Other than that only general maintenance is planned. It's too wet to do anything outside as it rained nearly all day yesterday and into the night. Not heavy but enough to let you know it was there. As my father calls it too little to do much good but enough to make you mad. I didn't sleep well last night so I may grab a nap today.

Konbanwa,

Although I had to rake some leaves today, I was able to relax most of the day.  The leaves chore only took about 45 minutes.  The wife came up with some other honey-dos, but they were easy as well.  I spent time playing the Wii and watching a Star Wars marathon with the boys.  The princess was under house arrest (grounded in her room) so she did not have as much fun.

SP Ray - Happy Anniversary!

Dougdagrump - I sent you a reply.  Thanks for the information.

Dennis - I believe I know which advertiser you are referring to and I sent them an email earlier.  I went to their website but it was not easy to understand.  I'm hoping their products are not too expensive; otherwise, I will have to get creative.

SJ - I was outbid again at the last second (probably a bot).  Oh well, I had placed my max bid so I am not upset.  The search for some Prewar continues.

Joe

Aloha from a wet and cold Crystal Lake where that small plane crashed just a few miles away. So sad about the occupants didn't make it.  Fife, I enjoyed the parade when the UP was absorbing the DRG&W. They based a GP20 in CL for a few months in that scheme with new UPX numbers. My faves were two MP15 in MILW orange flaking that were run by Chicago Terminal and based out of North Ave. Yard - which my commute runs through every day. Gone now - because their customers closed. Go Orange!

Dennis, I build an under-bed layout for a toddler-aged child in our old house. He didn't damage it because I screwed the track in and set up / took away the trains and transformer each time we ran it. It was only 3 x 5 ft.

Thank you for the congas on our 52nd wedding anniversary yesterday.  We feel very fortunate in todays world to have a union which has lasted this long.  Some of my younger relatives have not been so lucky.  I guess when the man said "until death do you part", I meant it.  Its all about faith, hope and love.

Buckeye Riveter

Good morning from Rogers Corners, Ohio.   In a few hours the game begins.

Fighting a kidney stone for the last couple of days.  I wish it would pass.

Have a good day.

No wonder they lost.  Buckeye was in no shape to chear them on.  Crying

Home for a few.  Picking up fresh turkey and ham Wifey just cooked.  Heading back to "baby sit".  Got a lot of leaves up.  Really love the Sthil leaf blower.

Real warm for the last three days.  Actually have glasses down in the stormdoors at the lake house.  Going to change tomorrow night and Tuesday morning with low and cold front passing.

Headed back to VA.
