Jeff will not be with us today unless the cable gets fixed. The whole area is out. I could not get out on my satellite hookup until the clouds cleared enough. The problem with the cable is that a line of bad thunderstorms came through early in the morning and tore up things pretty bad. The power and cable were knocked out a little past 8 . The power came back a little while later. The cable has been out all day and by my tv is still out. Jeff's internet is by cable so if something does not change he will not be back on. To those who are of a praying disposition and even if you ware not, he is not doing well in spite of what he says. He has trouble standing and he cannot keep his balance well. I hope he gets better soon so he can get back back to work on his trains, Some  might not like the pics he posts but I think they are great.

Back home till Thanksgiving evening.  Lots of leaves gotten up.  The Sthil backpack blower was a life saver.  Neighbor brought up his commercial zero turn mower and a big motor driven bagging unit.  It attaches to the back of the mower with a big bin on the top.  Extra 10 hp motor sucks and grinds the leaves.  Then he just goes to "where-ever" and dumps the bin without getting off mower.  So I blew the leaves out onto the grass areas, he came and "sucked" them up.  Life saver.  When I left, ground and etc covered again.  We had our frist real freeze Friday and Saturday.  Ground covered here as pecan trees' leaves frinally froze too.  Then temps jumped up.  Slept the last two night with stormdoor glass down and window open.  Suppose to cool for a day and then jump back up.

Town Board tonight, Dr. tomorrow [fighting over statins] and Thanksgiving Thursday.  Back up north Thursday night.  There for a long stay.  Bill Davies is doing well but is having to stay in Duke Appartments.  Hope he can make it home soon.

Don, great job on bridges.  If my drop down was not in a curve, I could do the same.  Got two large Lionel bridges like that.  Hope to get the "box" done in Jan or Feb.  If so, will use it for some areas in new layout to gain access to "out of reach" areas.

Later.

Just a quick splash and go from cold, soon-to-be monsooning Taxachusetts,

Dropped to 28 last night, 40 was the high today, 2" of rain expected tonight, dry and warmer by Thanksgiving, and back to the 60's by the weekend.  If you don't like New England weather, be patient for a day.  Like Chief, one more pass with the leaf blower and the mower are in order here to get the balance of the 2011 leaves picked up before the snow flies.  I like to wait until around Thanksgiving for the last cleanup, until after the neighbors have picked up theirs.

Rich.......prayers continue that your job search is successful.  I know you are disappointed that 130% was not enough.  While you were trying to do it right the first time, they had other ideas.  They should have just given you the answer up front and turned you loose.

Chief......you are a good friend to your buddy. Thumbs Up  Prayers he keeps making progress. Angel  Isn't it strange how someone comes to your rescue with picking up leaves just when you get done helping someone else?  Coincidence or something else?

Train Master........thanks for the update on Jeffrey.  I am certain I speak for all of us here extending prayers that he takes it easy and that he is feeling better.  His power outage should either give him the opportunity to rest, or conversely have his adrenalin pumping.  Angel

DonB.........that bridge of yours is a masterpiece!  Laugh regarding LAZ' Minnie being a member of PETA.  I think she is just yanking LAZ' chain so he doesn't bag a buck this year.  Re Cal Stewart......it is nice to have something like that local to you guys.

Somehow I can't picture V8 Dennis, RaySP, and DonB behaving themselves at Cal Stewart.  Too much mischievousness in those three. Whistling

Chuck......your muscles and joints are sore because you are USING them!!!!  And getting stronger.  Keep at it, you keep the rest of us inspired.  Thumbs Up  Just 90 days ago......you get the drift.

8n..........you could have gotten a lot of new saw blades for free from 88/Brent. Whistling

LAZ......ya gotta teach Minnie to flush dem bucks toward you, not away from you. Laugh  My problem is that my dog is smarter than I am. Bang Head

Later gang.  I have to rustle up some grub for our dinner. Dinner  Like SJ, I am not exactly a gourmet chef in the kitchen.  Can't believe my wife eats what I cook.

Hi Guys,

SJ,

Sounds like Granny is doing a lot better,

David P.

All of us are praying for Jeffery. Thanks for the update.

Doug M.

Got to love this weather.

I got called off work last night for today because they can do Lime in light rain. So I was going to sleep in then work on the water leak in the basement. Got up at 8:00 AM and am glad I managed to get some sleep.

Started on my on the water like thingy.

Water leak???????? Like all of my projects. Should of been no problem but turned into 2 trips to Menards in Morris and 6 hours later I think I am good.

Seems to be okay now, hope it stays that way.

You all have a good night.

Good evening all,

It is a soggy day in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  Work has gone surprisingly well the past two days.  If tomorrow goes as well, it will be a good week.  Not much else going on.  I see where a Hoosier won the NASCAR title.  He has only two more races to win, Indy and Daytona.  Probably should win Daytona some day, Indy not so sure.  He paid a nice tip of the hat to AJ during his interviews.  I see where AJ is doing some promos for a local Houston hospital.  I also see where the women's Olympic qualifying games may be on antenna TV in January.  That would be cool.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  Been missing some rotations so I need to get back in the grove some.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all!

Just a quick hello. Tired after a very long day.

We got an inch of needed rain at our house last night, but the official rainfall was only o.5 inch.

Nice weather predicted for Thursday - low 70's.

Have a great evening all!

Rich,

Sorry to hear about the job not working out for you too.  We are in the same boat about 130% not being enough, although in my case, I think one of them set me up.  I won't go into detail here though, because it could get messy.  It would have been nice to know sooner than half a year into the job, but it is what it is.

Jack,

Are you still in the market for 2343s?  I haven't looked at the pair that I bought at Toy Town back in July since Debbie wrapped them.  I might be looking to sell.

I got the Flyer 660 series aluminum passenger cars and gray roadbed in today.  Both are really nice.  I will try to get pics posted asap.

Has anyone heard from Brent?  Hope everything is ok.

Hi guys! Been away for awhile. Been real busy a work, Last week though my computer was infected with a worm! So I had my computer guy fix it, he also reformated it and upgraded it. Maybe I can get some more years out of this dell.

Jack - I've had two leaf cleanings already this year and usually within a few days it looks like nothing was done. Too many trees around here with all the woods around my house and some nieghbors do nothing to help. I usually do it two times in Dec to finish it up.

NJDevil - Sad news. But don't loose hope as hard working people a hard to find and often excel elsewhere when other don't.

DougM - Nice work! I seem to remember my father and I putting together a balsa wood and tissue airplane back in the 1960's. Being about 10 years old I'm sure he did most of the work.

Chuck - Believe it or not your recovery over the past months has been a real inspiration me and probably to all of us on this POT! Keep it up!

SJ - Like a good team, I believe Granny is good therapy for you as you are for her. You two keep each other going.

That's about it for now, good night all!

Ray

Rainy and cold in Saint Louis today.  Can't wait for our little vacation that's coming up - we'll be in Florida for a few days of fun in the sun and all that Disney stuff we can take.  It's our gift to Charlene to celebrate her recovery.

Mike - i thought you were driving?  Hmmmm - might explain the loop-de-loops!  SJ!?!?!  You got some 'splaining to do!

Prayers for recovery and good health, for adoptions, babies, knees, shoulders, backs, friends, loved ones, and jobs.

Chewy is doing well without the cone and not bothering her healed/healing incisions.  She is on a special diet for life now though.

OKAY - Tardis is ready, so Mike, take it away!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold and damp 36 degrees. Going up to 48 today with no rain. I saw a few snow flurries this morning.

Today is a busy day. Wife has an errand to run and I have a few chores to do. Maybe a nap this afternoon. A couple more weeks before I tackle the steps to the train room.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning. It's 52° and cloudy. The high will be 68° and it will be partly cloudy.

The morning storm yesterday dropped two and three quarter inches of rain on us in just a couple of hours. The winds were significant. I wouldn't have liked to be out on the roads at the time. Lightning and thunder weren't too bad. I've seen much worse but it hit in the wrong places yesterday and took out the power and cable during the first few minutes of the storms crossing of this area. The power was back on after only a couple of minutes but the cable was out until very late in the day. well, enough about that. David was right in what he said about me not doing as well as I let on. I just look at it in the sense that if the docs can't do anything about it there's little reason to make a hash of it.

Hi GUYZ,

Another rainy day here today.  Ran trains last nite, NO PILE UPs, all ran gooood!  I needed that train fix.  No school til next tuesday.

JACK, did my final leaf collecting last Saturday.  All done and don't forget to add some Stabil to the gas tank.  I usually add about 2 onces to  be on the safe side.

CHUCK, keep up the work on the exercises.  The trains are a calling.

Stay frosty,

Aloha from a sunny and cold -- and quiet Chicago - where I'm the one turning on the lights today. Sent rain off to points east. Daughter and NotBoyfriend arrived late last night. Just gave me enough time to clean the kids' bathroom. Happy Pre-Thanksgiving and safe travels!

Good morning all,

Had a not so peaceful sleep last night.  Woke up around 2:30 with slight chest pain.  Went away after a while but worrisome.  Probably something I ate.  We went out and I had a small sirloin steak with home fried potatoes with oinions and peppers.  Maybe that was talking back to me.

Doug in Sandy Eggo, looking forward to pictures of your lift up bridge.  The more ideas, the better.

Chuck, you were right about getting old not being for sissys.  However, you seem to be doing great considering how far you have come back from your low point.  Keep up the good recovery.

Chief, glad to hear that your friend is doing better.

Getting ready for turkey day tomorrow.  My frozen bird is thawing nicely and should be ready on time.

Jeffrey in La. Glad to see you back on line after power failure.  Sorry to hear that doctors haven't been able to help you enough.  Hope you find the right one.  Weathering is not my thing with model trains.  However, I appreciate the fact that it pleases you.  You know what they say.  Whatever floats your boat or different strokes for different folks. Doing what makes you happy is the main thing.

I did the vinegar treatment on my toy stationary live steam engine yesterday and it worked.  Cleared up the water deposits in the sight glass so I can read it now.  Fired it up and ran for a while.  It has a little peep whistle.  Wish that was better but it is what it is.  Anyway, had fun with it.

later,

Ray

Afternoon.  After Dr's visit, I win.  On Lipitor.  $4 per month.  Fair and real windy ~~~~~~.  All the leaves are off of the trees here.  Last night's rain and now the high winds are getting it done.  That means one more clean up and its over.  Pecan leaves are late as late freeze.

Got to call Wells Fargo [remember the time I had with them earlier.  Now they havenot paid the increase in my home owners due to remodeling and etc. Angry

Going to measure "the box" [my new train layout house].  Trying to get that going.  Wifey's family is messy.  She evens admitts it.

Hey Guys!

Happy Thanksgiving....early!

Just got back form fire call #400...a first for this dept.  Never had 400 in a year, and only 5 of us were there.  I was one of 3 that made the truck (Ladder 41).

Jeff...Angel for your recovery...saw a fire house you posted....liked that.  If you have more on that, I'd like to see 'em...Smile, Wink & Grin.

Haven't gotten all my stuff together for the train layout just yet.  Squabbles about location of the event etc., but I'll get on it today for sure

Rain..3 inches the last 2 days.  No local flooding (yet), and don't need anymore of that.

Thanks for the prayers, guys....something will break soon.  I have no problems just yet.  I'm only upset it will delay my home purchase another 3 months.Sigh

yesterday got the first suposely 0100 Lionel Transformer this one in box well it was a box for a 0100 transformer HO by Lionel but it had a 1033 transformer in it. Bang Head how hard is it to read whats on the transformer when you have it out for picBang Head and yes the pic was blurry so I really couldn't tell for sure but it looked like a 0100 as had one when I was a kid with the HO's we had.

Today got second HO 0100 transformer in but don't think its giving the full 14 volts its supose to as it will run my G gauge by Bachmann train but at full throttle is a low medium speed which is fine actually for what I want as I want it just to run around the christmas tree so that should be good.

Not alot happening today have to work tomorrow but thats fine you all have a good Thanksgiving

I would never put money in that bank!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have a small mortgage with them that they bought several years ago from a great company.  Everyone I talked to today said, "Thank you Mr. Eagles for being such a valued customer."  Well, treat me like that.  I went in circles over and over until finally I told a guy, this is the third time I have been transferred back to your department.  Now I am going to cuss.  He finally got some lady on the phone who appologized.  She called my agent and a check will be cut Friday.  Now get this.  The "upgrade" to my policy was dated 8-18-11.  This is November. Angry I will send an email to customer service and tell them about this but also how nice the lady was [got her full name].

Measured "the box".  Outside is 14 feet by 30 feet.  This would make a nice "train house".  Has new heat pump [little "joker" but not a lot to heat or cool].

Good Evening

43 now 52 with sun today.

RT: Most G scale motors need a larger DC transformer than the usual HO ones. That's why Lionel made one the same size as their AC set transformers. There are DC transformers made especially for G Gauge. I had a quiet day with granny gone so had a nice couch nap this afternoon. Banilla is ready...S.J.

Good evening everyone.  Sorry Rich, didn't see your leaving your old job.  Glad you left on good terms and hope another is around the corner soon.

Had a interesting evening.  After violin practice with the kids, we went to our local zoo that has a train.  They have a special tonight in which they have a Festival of Lights along with Santa and the train all for free.  Well, the train derailed twice, so we decided to do that on another day.  Then we went to our local Chinese food place for a traditional pre-Thanksgiving meal.

Found a nice article on some scenic train rides, thought I would share:

I hope each of you has a great Thanksgiving and enjoy a wonderful time with family and friends.

God Bless,

Happy Thanksgiving Eve all!

Cool day today. Had meetings all morning and then worked until about 3 and knocked off as I worked last night until midnight preping for the morning meetings.

This year for Thanksgiving we are going to myy wife's sister's house so we do not have full cooking duties. Wife made a broccoli casserole and I made  a chocolate pie. My wife has 3 sisters and the other two (and husbands) are coming in this year from Alaska and Arizona. My son and daughter will have their respective girl and boy friends, so with all the other family it is going to be a big turnout.

My wife and kids have iPhones and they started crashing today after an Apple software upgrade. My wife was able to get Apple on the phone (about 2 hours to resolve), my son got an appointment at the local Apple store at 6 (have not seen him back yet), and my daughter is avoiding the upgrade. The Apple tech apologized to my wife and said it was Apple's fault (nice - just before a big holiday - that should sell some product this weekend). After the upgrades the phones lost everything and it requires a complete restore to bring it back. Luckily everyone here has been backing their iPhones up on their PCs.

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend and some turkey, dressing, and pie tomorrow Dinner

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy
