Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny and clear 33 degrees. We had a frost last night. Going up to 50 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I plan on watching the Nascar race from Talladega. I don't like the way they race there with 2 cars but it is a fast track. The ballgame should be good.
Dining car was here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Prayers Ray and for all our intentions.
RIJack and PAT - [:))] Yep, Char figured out how much I spent on trains one year and the next year my budget was cut in HALF! I only got that much, because she didn't keep track as well as she thought
Slept late this morning, until 8 AM. Goofed off on Xbox with some buddies for a couple hours - fun to play games live with people from Texas, Canada and SnOhio, all chatting and having a good time together Found another "train" game on their marketplace, but need to check out some reviews before I buy it.
My plumbing job in the wall was good and still dry after a week, so I insulated the pipe, insulated the wall, and put in a new piece of drywall. There is no longer an access panel in the wall, since the actual shut-off is now in the ceiling. One of the shut-offs for the bathroom was leaking like 1 drip every 10 minutes at the packing nut. I'll have to move some stuff and check it out, but SJ thinks it will just quit after a while. If the packing is dry, I guess it will. OTOH, I might give the packing nut a little snug tomorrow. I tried to finish scrubbing the front siding, only have a little section left to do, but it was a FAIL. The new brush we got was way way too stiff for our vinyl siding and the whole thing was just a mess I'll get a new brush and hope to find more Simple Green or a reasonable copy. We have a couple more warm days on schedule, so I need to get moving on that.
That new cheeseburger from Wendys is really good - highly recommended!
TARDIS is ready, so let's get a move on!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Quiet evening here on the mountain. Fairly productive last night w/ testing and all. Then today we lost one of the encoders, or at least the power supply. 'Scope was German built, and everything electrical they brought was 220V, even though it was designed for here. This is one of the last items to plug into 110V, get stepped up to 220V, to promptly be reduced to no more than 15V DC. Nothing like a government job w/ two different governments...
RIJack - border is about 50 - 60 miles away. And that hat has become a bit of a signature item for me. It's a Stetson that Chief may be amused to know is called the "Gun Club".
HudosnJohn - We just bought a new harness and lanyards for the work this year. We will probably replace the older harnesses with the new model. Much easier to work with.
Jeffery - liking the photos of the layout. Still need to put together those N Scale trailer kits we talked briefly about on the diner.
Time to read up on the encoders so I can help the engineer who comes up on Monday.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Had a nice visit in Bloomington today with daughter and son. Good to see them both again. Tried to find the Showroom Layout book at Barnes and Noble without any luck, but did have new CTT waiting for me at home. Work was quiet yesterday. Burial for Dan Wheldon was today and memorial service in Indy is tomorrow. Will be carried on Versus. "Saucy Wench" took a break this AM and went to MickeyD's to bring home one of my favorite meals, hotcakes and sausage. Yum! TBIL if it is not too late. Jeffrey, enjoying all the HO scenes and weathering techniques. Can't quite figure out why there is so little crossover among CTT, MR, and GR. I know one time CTT, MR and Trains combined to do three separate articles on different aspects of one shortline and how it was modeled, but would it totally drive MR or CTT into the ground if they did an article on HO Plasticville, Lionel, or American Flyer, or GR if they used standard gauge outdoors? We are all not that different in our hobby, just points of emphasis. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Hudson#685 Jeffrey, Nice weathering and scenery. You are an artist.

Beautiful day here - prayers for your friend Ray! Spent too much time running over leaves with the mower until it ran out of juice and balancing high in the treetops on my neighbors super-tall ladder cutting back branches from the house. Looks like the water pump on the washer just died. Looks like an easy swap but it's still full of water. Oh well.

RockIsland52 SJ........after your post it ocurred to me that a wife might create more problems "helping" and might start asking uncomfortable questions. "'When did you get this? I don't remember you getting that! And this other one, how much did you pay for it. I never saw the three over there, did I? Do you realize how much money you have spent on this stuff? Why do you need more? Look over here at the empty box that looks new.....by the date on the box, isn't that the one the UPS guy delivered last month that you said was furnace filters? Unless the filters were folded in half, Isn't the box too small for furnace filters? Furnace filters weigh 8 pounds? What is a GP9 that it says on this receipt costs $289.95. Isn't that receipt from your train shop? The receipt is from October of 2010, but you didn't buy any trains last October, did you? " Yup, better off she stays out of your man cave. Jack

Jack, it would be interesting to know how many of us have been interrogated with those questions. I know I have. Learned early on to pick the time I transfer train goodies from the truck to the train room.
My train room is a separate bldg off the drive, so when UPS or FedEx delivers I can stash it right into the train room.

So THIS is the RAPTURE? What a letdown.
The end of the world? Guess I missed it.
Brutus, sorry Chewy is still having problems. Good luck!
Went out to eat last night at local restaurant. Had turkey dinner which was pretty good although a little pricey I thought. Place seemed to be pushing wine and booze more than food. Not my thing.
Got call from old friend yesterday that he was in ICU in hospital for 5 days. I didn't know but he said he could have no visitors there anyway. He is home now. He has pretty severe COPD and is on oxygen 24/7. He has had several of these life threatening episodes over time. He must have 9 lives. Don't know how long he can keep this up. Will visit him when he wants visitors. He and I have been best friends for over 40 years and he introduced me to three rail trains back then. He stays pretty much house bound these days and acts like he doesn't want company much. I visit him once in a while but it's kind of a one sided conversation. Sad.
My friend, the drummer in a Traditional (Dixieland) jazz band reported that the jazz festivals around the country are on borrowed time. A lot of them are being discontinued. The followers of the music are mostly older people and we are dying off. I'm sure the music will come back if it fades out. Don't know if I will be around then though. I doubt it. However, some local bands will continue playing one at a time in smaller venues I hope. Don't know what this has to do with trains except a lot of the jazz musicians I like are also model train fans.

Lunch Time,
Pretty quiet day here which is good because we can actually get something done.
RIJack, I agree with Banks on burning wood. I have done it in my present house for the last 24 years, burning the stove hot in the open mode and I have not had an incident. I check and clean the chimney reguarly and I am very picky what I burn. Stay away from pine.
SudmmBob: I see you are OSHA compliant with the harness and tied off. You might be able to see Mexico, but where we are, we see NYC when up in a bucket. I like your view better.
Kev, I share your pain with the leaves. Nice property.
Rich, Check the Company website weekly. We are putting pressure on our VP to hire.
FIFE, Nice day to be out on the Yachet.
Chuck, Glad that you are getting better.
Jon, enjoy your next trip. There is plenty to see on the "Right Coast". Spring York may be a good start.
Laz, Good progress with Minnie. Our Mack thinks deer are playing with him and he has to chase them. He is improving with listening outside. He is excellent indoors.
Chief, I wish your wife good luck with the job.
SJ, I am being relentless with the lemon ice cream. It will give me an excuse to go to Michigan.
Brutus, Good luck with Chewy.
Prayers for all in need,
John
Aloha from a sunny, cool day in Crystal Lake- a perfect day to work outside on tall ladders and mulching leaves - nice solid frost last night should take care of the allergies. Nice date night with the bride - drove to Woodstock - the town in Groundhog Day - for a drink. Might get pumpkins today.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
A small scene from my layout. Ezra Johnson's gas station, garage and home.
According to postal tracking I should be getting a package today. It's not much. Just two Tyco boxcars and a Tyco Dutch Cleanser hopper in various states of disrepair. They will give me something to work on, kitbash, whatever. Considering I only paid $7 including shipping it seemed a good price for project material.
Good Morning
37 and sun at last. I think I saw frost on top of my P/U this morning. Granny's doing well, she's starting to clean things again. I like a clean house nothing wrong with that but she is obsessed about it. RI-Jack we reached an agreement long ago that the basement was mine and all the dust that might be in it. She did help me twice in our 32 years here when the sump pump failed. A birthday party this PM for a gr.son is going to be our day. Oh the laundry is already started...S.J.
Brutus: Good luck with Chewy.
Good morning. It's 57° and partly cloudy. The high will be 87° and it will remain partly cloudy.Nothing much planned for today except getting the junk cleared off the layout. It built up pretty thick during all the project work that was going on. When it got to the point that I was having trouble keeping track of tools I knew something had to be done. I got a good start on the clearing last night and I could actually see the track. The mess is down to 1/10th of what is was. I'm going to have to make some kind of shelf to put the tools on.
Hi GUYZ,
Took MINNIE for a hour and a half walk in the woods yesterday. We put up a grouse and put out a deer. MINNIE ran after deer for about 20 seconds then came back. GOOD GIRL!!! Wife and I had a nice outside fire last nite. Boy when you walked away from the flames and coal a bit chilly. Had a nice time for 2hrs. then came in and ran trains for 2 more hrs. Started to fall asleep in my chair on the layout. said better go to bed before we have a PILE UP. Alas NO PILE UPs!!!
Today gotta suck up leaves.
CHUCK slow and steady in the rehab. How bout a pic of that PT?
Stay frosty,
laz57
It is a cold and foggy 38 degrees. Going up to 52 today with some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have some paperwork to do and the exercises. Legs are slowly getting stronger. Aleve helps with the aches and pains. This is going to take some time to get back to normal. ( Whatever that is ).
Dining car is here with Cheerios and a small omlet for breakfast. My appetite is improving.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Sun came up. Guess I'll start the laundry. Youngest princess (and biggest helper on the layout) . Middle princess came home to share in the festivities.
Good Morning,
42 and clear so far in NJ. Went to bed early last night and I must have missed the Rapture. Nice early start this morning.
Time for the Safety Tailboard.
Well Jackson, as Blondie once said:
Rapture, be pure Take a tour, through the sewer Don't strain your brain, paint a train You'll be singin' in the rain I said don't stop, do punk rock!
Guess it works to post, Rich! Hey, she gave you a beautiful daughter, right?
Jeffrey - always liked those photo backdrops and fool the eyes stuff you did, nice pic. CYA - come on the TARDIS some time, we miss you bro.
Chewy still has her infection and it got worse??? They changed meds and put her on a strict diet. If it doesn't work, they will do an ultrasound. Repeat x-ray was negative. The diagnosis is still bacterial cystitis (bacterial infection of the urinary bladder). Poor baby doesn't understand why she gets no treats from daddy now Funny how sad it is making me feel.
TARDIS is ready Freddy, let's go!
See y'all tomorrow.
howdy sports fans....first post via stratosphere. again with the end of the world? Another day another nut case. go figure. oh well....ive done my time in h*ll anyhow....

The worlds ending? I thought that wasn't due until December 21st 2012. Evangelists, prophets, maniacs and refugees from the booby hatch have been saying for centuries that the world is going to end soon and it ain't happened yet.
Good Evening
46 damp degrees
Worlds ending, no problem we'll jump in the Tardis and go back a ways. We got banilla and root beer, we can can do it..S.J.
RockIsland52 Kevin..........my forum name is RockIsland52 to reflect the first Lionel train I received. It was Christmas 1955 and I was a 4 year old boy. Postwar Lionel 2031 Rock Island AA FA1 ALCos, produced in 1952. My Dad had purchased them and stashed them away until either I was old enough or his thumb wore out and fell off winding up the wind up trains, whichever came first. Guess he wanted a road name indigenous to Illinois. Jack.

I think it was the line that came through Marseilles that is now CSX and I remember it in Joliet when I was a kid. I think a little bit of everyone got their rails. I was 3 in at Christmass1955 did not have any trains till I was 5.
Thanks for the explanation
Just got good news from the Dr. on my ultrasound. I am good if I just take a little better care of myself. Guess he wants me to back off of the throttle some........ about time can't run wide open forever.
Thanks to all for the Prayers.
