Afternoon all.  Been busy this day cleaning out shelter and rearranging farm equipment.  Got one more bay to go.  Old wood scraps and scarps from building layout.  Hope to finish tomorrow.  Started raining as we finished emptying the truck at County dumpster site about 3 miles out of Town.

Now getting ready to go to Church for Trick or Treat [in gym].

Sending rain up the coast to melt the snow and flood. Surprise

Good morning all,

Chief, thanks for the additional layout pictures.  Looks like a lot of action going on there with lots of modern equipment.  Glad to see NS and N&W are well represented.  Also glad to see you still have the hunter and beaver thing too.  Roy did a good job on that.

Dennis, congratulations on the good news about a new daughter.  God Bless.

Jeffrey, good to hear that your mom is OK.

Roy, condolences for the Rangers but they put up a good fight.  Came within one strike of winning the whole thing---twice!  Unbelievable!

Read an article in the L.A. Times this morning about how bad business has fallen off at Ontario International Airport about 57 miles West of LAX.  They showed how dead it looked in a picture but that was taken mid day and it always looked like that in the middle of the day.  However, the figures don't lie.  The Airport is controlled along with LAX by the City of Los Angeles.  It sounds like they have been siphoning off flights to from Ontario to L.A. to finance new expansion in L.A.  I would normally use Ontario myself because it is so much closer but I could not get a flight out of there.  Go figure!  Apparently the airport charges the highest rate per passenger to the airlines than any other place in the area.  Of course the economy has something to do with it all but I smell a rat.  The politicians are destroying a great airport location.  When the economy picks up they are going to need all the airports in Southern California.  L.A. can't handle it.SoapBox

later,

Ray

Well, it tweren't pretty, but the RAVENS won.  Fifepup was happy.  Even CSX did their part with a steady parade of freight trains passing the stadium.  Light rail ride was relaxing, after hiking all the way down from the nose bleed section.  Came home and watched the Steelers take down the Pats, then fast forwarded through the Martinsville race to see 14 win.  Heading into work a little early for a Halloween parade.

Good morning. It's 60° and sunny. The high will be 75° and it will be partly cloudy.

Maybe today I'll finally be able to apply the L&A decals to the Front Range hopper. I also have a very glossy Tyco Old Dutch Cleanser reefer that needs dirt, rust and grime added. There's a few hoppers that have the same problem.

Happy Halloween, when our kids were young the streets and candy were still safe, I would leave the house with them carrying a beer mug, they always got home way before I did. No plans for today so stay safe..S.J.

Aloha from a sunny and crisp Halloween in Chicago, one of my favorite days... I will go home early to take the youngster around. Joe, glad you're situated. Hope you get a great house. You should like the Nissan Lots of odd little buttons on the Japanese cars. The department stores are full of N scale. Beautiful trains. The Japanese consulate here has a nice layout. I used to buy Thomas trains from Tomix from a little shop on the Ginza.  Jack, I still have relatives in Conn. who insist our winters are 'harder' than ours. You've unfortunately gotten double the snow, even counting snowmaggedon. Hope it melts soon.

Foot Dr. Apt this morning so not truck driving till this afternoon.  Sigh

Should get better with some sun and get up to around 56.

Chuck,

RI52 Jack, with a dog the size of Maximus you can probably supply yellow snow to us all but I think you are right to send it south.  Mischief

Charlie, Great carving on that pumpkin.  Yes  Was that on the first try? I would of gone through a dozen before I could do something that nice.

Pension payday tomorrow so I guess I will do the bills before I go to the doc.

Happy Halloween,

About 9:30am this morning my time, I was able to watch some of the Cowboys-Eagles game.  The MNF game will also be on about 10:00am my time Tuesday.  That is going to take some getting used to.  This afternoon, my wife went off base to pick up a new mobile phone, and iPhone 4S.  The 3G she brought from the US will not work here.  The new one only costs a little more per month than what we paid in the US.  It has a neat Translator App which should be very beneficial to use over the next three years.  Tomorrow, we are going to look at a base house we may move in to.  It will be nice to have our household goods delivered by the weekend.  We also should be buying a minivan tomorrow - a Nissan Bassera.  The kids had fun trick or treating tonight and they came back with lots of candy.

Charlie - That's a great looking pumpkin.

Jeff - I'm glad your mom is okay.

I'll pray for all those in need tonight.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Morning,

Chief, That must have been an Atomic Snow Cannon. Between the leaves still on the trees, the Northeasterner and snow what a mess. We have more damage now than  when the hurricane hit, less the flooding. I guess the South rose again. I thought I saw some grits mixed in there.

..............RI52, Jack, we need a break from these storms. We have crews from other utilities here to help us now. Usually it is us helping them.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

John

HudsonJohn........Peru Massachusetts just West of Springfield recorded 32 inches with many towns getting over 2 feet!!!!!  You are right on the money.  The heavy snows stuck to the (leaves on the) trees and the sheer weight snapped the limbs right off.  The power lines are always in jeopardy with storms like this one.

From CNN this morning.....

Early Monday morning, the state's largest utility -- Connecticut Light and Power -- reported nearly 757,000 customers were still without electricity.

"It's all hands on deck," said Mitch Gross, a spokesman for the utility. "We have a lot of work to do."

Power crews from across the country are converging on the state to help restore power," according to Gross, who said every town Connecticut Light and Power service was adversely affected in some way by the storm.

Elsewhere, about 236,000 customers were without power early Monday in Pennsylvania; 539,000 in Massachusetts' 383,000 in New Jersey; 280,000 in New York and 228,000 in New Hampshire, according to figures from power companies in those states. Thousands also lost power in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

John......the counts are "customers" which I understand is a hookup, meaning the numbers of people affected are in the millions?  No?  I was proactive on this one and took my customary, once a week shave and a shower before I went to bed Saturday night.......Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Evnin' Ya'll From Cold but Clear Taxachusetts,

Jeff,,,,,,,,,glad to here your Mom is back home and is doing fine.  That was scary!

Roy.......I wish I could send you water.  We have had quite a wet past few months......and it seems a shame so much of it runs off into rivers and streams and out into the ocean.

The news is non-stop storm stories, again.  Some places West of me got over 20" of the white stuff.  Widespread power outages continue statewide..  Folks are taking shelter in shelters because of the conditions.  The big fear for homeowners without power is bursting pipes, though the temps (low 30s) are not quite cold enough for that I would think.

The Trick or Treaters better wear their long underwear tomorrow tonight.  At least it will be dry.  The daytime temp forecast has upped tomorrow's high to the low 50s, it will drop off a tad during the nightime.  Kids are tough and will survive if dressed properly underneath their costumes.  But too many parents overthink this stuff and worry about nothing.   Some cities and towns around the State have cancelled Halloween due to the storm aftermath conditions.......I suppose it is for safety, with the downed trees and the fear of live power lines all over the place.

Later, gang and.............

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack.

Glad your mom is okay, Jeff.  We didn't do much today. My wife went out and got groceries while I shut off outside water, dealt with hoses, and replaced the numbers on the front of the house (finally). We had some pizza for dinner. It was a nice, relaxing day Smile  Oh - my son somehow killed a thumbdrive?  His teacher gave him some work to do on a thumbdrive and now it won't work on either of the two computers we tried.  We had a blank one here at home, so he put his stuff on that and he'll have to turn that in along with the broken one.  It lights up, but Windows doesn't recognize it?

TARDIS is ready, so lets get move guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 60.  Painted the last barn today.  Went to high school music program as well. Saw of some of "my" soccer kids doing something besides playing soccer.  It was a nice performance.  Nephew's high school band won state in their class again.  He is in the percussion section.  Watched "Once Upon a Time" and "Desperate Housewives".  Taking tomorrow off.  Will mow yard and do some minor electrical work before Trick or Treaters arrive.  I had cinnamon rolls on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening. Going to try this again...last post was lost.  Been real busy, I am on call and have done several emergency cases this weekend so far.  On Friday, I helped a female police officer find her family member who was having a test done.  Two hours later, I heard she was killed in a chase trying to get two armed robbers...sad.  When I got home, we got the official word from china, We are approved for the second child, a little girl with albinism.  The paper chase just got bigger!

Joe, glad you got over there o.k.  Sounds like y'all are getting settled.  Thanks Againg for your service.

We are snow free so far, with temps in the 70s.  Of course it looks like snow as cotton is being harvested.  When they take it to the gin mills, there is a fair amount that lines the roadways.  Like snow, it looks pretty at first, but when it has been on the ground awhile, it looks dirty and grey.

Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead,

Dennis

Well my mother is back home and is her usual self. She has some bruises but apart from that she's OK. She was in a borderline comatose state due to low blood sugar. Maybe she'll be more mindful of it now. I am not holding my breath.

Afternoon gang.  Chilly and sunny here.  Got out the long sleves here.  Everything in the greenhouse doing fine.  Got to get a big box for all the green tomatoes.  Also a big bag a ripe ones.  Picked big bags of peppers.  Had second growing season going.  Big frost last night.

Rumor has it that the "box" [where SIL and then her daughter lived in FIL's back yard] may move into my back yard.  The box is a three room mobile home [not including bath and utility nutch].  If so, the Roseyville Section of the NS may move to the box.  In other words, a train house.  Has new heat pump for heating and air.  I would not hook up the bath nor utility and they would become train storage and maybe train launch room.  Main room is a great room [kitchen living combined] and a larger bedroom and a small bedroom.  Wifey offering to buy so she can recoup another upstairs bedroom and storage [where trains are now].  Working on the details.  We'll see.

Off to the pond for a "look see".  So far beaver gave up.

[CTT Gang's beaver getting even with the Chief]

Yes Ray.  Trains go into what was a walkin closet storage room.  They come out on the other side.  Visa Versa.

The walk thru closet where you see coats is now shelves of train engines.

Backroom is mainly train storage and double [72"] mainline with a reversing loop.

Afternoon all!

Sunny and 70 here. No SNOHIZO here. Drought hitting the really serious stage here. Pundits said we would need 15-18 inches of rain in next 30 days to refill the lakes (50% depleted) and the waetherman says that ain't happining anytime soon. Water restrictions headed towards severe. There goes the house foundation again.

SJ - that is great news about Granny.

Had a really hard week last week with meetings all day and then evening events due to main board meeting of the parent business being held in our office. So no time to read the pot and post.

NASCAR today. Rangers blew the series - pitchers and bats all worn out - congrats to Cards.

anjdevil - sorry - we gotta win sumptin....we watched game from local bar last night while dining at the bar. The advantage of dining at the bar is the bartender is always very very close by! BeerDrinks

Prayers for those that need them - Angel

Have a great day all!
