Afternoon all.  BEAVER and Town kept me busy this AM.  OH, back at home.  Took kids to groomer first.  Then big sticks [some as big as arm] and mud built under the bridge over the spillway.  Made it very hard to pitchfork out.  The lady wanting to meet me away from Town Hall to discuss rude Rec Director [temp].  One good thing.  No fire ants.

Promised the wifey I would get the landscaping done today.  So I went out to cut the grass and to pick up the leaves.  The master plan was to beat the rains later in the week and to stay on top of the leaves which are really starting to fall now.  The throttle cable snapped off inside the throttle box when I went to start the mower.  So it is "off to the repair shop time" and pray they have a replacement cable assembly in stock for my particular make and model of mower.  Bang Head

Jack.

Get a John Deere.

Pretty day here.  Warming each day until Saturday.  Greenhouse to get ready for plants.

Later.

Good morning all,

Roy, glad you made it to York and back without a lot of pain.  Hope PT brings good results.

Jeffrey, Trains are trains.  I started in HO myself years ago.  Used to belong to a big club with a layout that had over 2000 feet of mainline.  Got into O gauge when I bought my son his first Lionel and caught the bug again.  Now I buy mostly modern O gauge trains with more prototypical look.  I finally graduated to the 4 ft 8 1/2 inch gauge when I went to work for Southern Pacific.  Retired now and back to running just O gauge again.

Brutus, nice that you and 8N could get together.

Had pancakes for dinner last night at local place.

#2 Son due home today from trip to Oregon.

later,

Ray

Promised the wifey I would get the landscaping done today.  So I went out to cut the grass and to pick up the leaves.  My master plan was to beat the rains later in the week and to stay on top of the leaves which are really starting to fall now.  Wife's master plan........make our place look as nice as all of the neighbors with landscaping crews.

Take out mower.  Check oil level.  Fill gas tank.  Attach grass catcher.  Take out trash barrels. Take out edger.  Take out leaf blower.  Take out extension cords for leaf blower and edger.  Untangle cords.  Plug in and run cords to far reaches.  Edge, weedwack, and blow all debris and leaves onto lawn for pickup with the mower.

Murphy's Law. The throttle cable snapped off inside the throttle box when I went to start the mower.  So it is "off to the repair shop time" and pray they have a replacement cable assembly in stock for my particular make and model of mower.  Now the appearance of the place landscaping-wise reminds one of the Grapes of Wrath.  Bang Head

Good morning. It's 61° with some clouds. The high will be 82° and it will be mostly cloudy.

Nothing on the agenda today accept getting the rest of the mess cleared off the layout. Of course a new batch of stuff will arrive and I will once again be working on projects. I have three more covered hoppers, a reefer and two trailers (mobile home and airstream) on the way. They should start arriving within a few days from now.

Aloha from a sunny and pleasant Chicago where it is a happy Monday.  Brutus and 8ntruck, nice you could get together.  Chief, prayers for your friend Bill. Roy, glad you got some rain with your hail. It must've looked like snow. Jeffrey, you're more than welcome here. John Baker, good luck moving.  I'll be doing some of that next weekend - for a few friends suffering foreclosures. Hope to get some train time in this week too.

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana, but it is supposed to clear off.   Watched "Once Upon a Time" and "Desperate Housewives"  last night.  I can see why DH will be ending at the end of this season.  Definitely losing some interest.  Verdict is still out on other show.  Busy highway on drive in this morning.  Regular fare on the dining car.  TBIL after game tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 55 degrees. Looks like rain today. High around 62.

Today is a busy day. I have exercises and a few chores to do. Paperwork is heavy. Getting caught up is a job. Relax later, with a nap.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Well a couple of tantalum capacitors later and we are back in business. The big trick of course is finding them in the first place. I guess that's why they pay the engineers the big bucks.

Chief - thoughts and prayers for your friend.

Jeffrey - nice to have you here. I started dabbling in N-Scale and they haven't kicked me out:) Like the Old Dutch Cleanser hopper.

SPRay - thanks for the heads up on the #844. Looks like she will be in Tucson for Veteran's Day.

Guess it's time to find something to eat.

Chief........you have my prayers for your neighbor Bill while he fights this thing.  The family will never be able to thank you enough for stepping up with a helping hand when it matters most, but you know how much they appreciate it.

RaySP.......it is hard when you see your long time friend struggling with his health as he is.  Skip the formalities and go visit him.  He needs the boost.  He is in my prayers as well.

Brutus and 8N........was that photo taken before you two were taken to jail or after the wives bailed you out?   Whistling

JoeyD........congratulations on your finishing strong and on your graduation.  And a new adventure for you and your family lies ahead, memories for life.  Thumbs Up

JohnBaker..........good luck on your move.  Will you have space in your new digs for a layout?

Time to hit the sack!

Back from the dinasour races last week.  Went to the Buick GS Nationals in Bowling Green, Ky.  My favorite car this year was a 1973 Buick LeSaber wagon that made a couple of 12 second passes - this is one of those whale sized clamshell tailgate wagons!  This one was on street tires and a full exhaust system too.

My wife and I enjoyed our  visit with Brutus & Mrs. Brutus as we passed through St. Louis on the way home today.

Got a few interesting pictures to get off of my camera and post.  I'll try to get to that tomorrow.

Chief - prayers for your neighbor.

Back to work tomorrow - SS checks for some of y'all are coming due.

Good evening all,

It's been a few days since my last post.  I graduated (Distinguished nonetheless - I really fooled them Smile, Wink & Grin) on Wednesday and flew back to OK on Thursday.  Tomorrow morning we fly to Seattle.  We will spend one night there and then fly to Japan.  I skimmed through all the posts but I did not have time to read them very deeply.  It looks like we have some new Potters and it appears everyone is doing well.  I'll try to post again tomorrow from Seattle; otherwise, my next post will come from Japan, but I promise it will be in English.

Good night,

Joe

Today I met up with 8nTruck. He and his wife were passing through Saint Louis, so my wife and I met them for a soda and some cheesecake at the Chesterfield Mall on their way through here. Nice chat and lots of good fellowship. There was a little train talk, but mostly it was all getting to know you stuff.

Had a nice day - just took it easy.  Now I'm having a nice chat with SJ about the ball game and Lionel 520 locomotives Thumbs Up

Chief - prayers for your friend and for all our intentions.  Rich - good luck on the job man.

Jeff - we are cool with all Toy Trains here Smile  Even those S gauge guys with the broken track!

TARDIS is ready, let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all!

Back from trip last week and trying to recover. Neck is better - the exercises the PT gave me seem to help and I go in for PT tomorrow afternoon. Pain is much less and I have been able to get around without the arm sling the last week.

Chief - prayers for your friend Bill. V8 - so sad about the H-D riders Angel

Jeffrey - nice to see you here.

Texas Rangers took it in the shorts last night. Tonight seems to be going better - hopefully Cards used up all their bats last night. You gotta admire Pujol though - only 3 hitters in history with 3 homers in one WS game - Ruth, Jackson, & Pujol's - thats good company I think.

Rained a real frog floater here last night at 1:40 am (noise woke me up) - nearly 1.5 inches and a hail of a hail storm. Hail was 6 inches deep against my garage door and a lot was still there this morning at 10 am. Fence looks like it was sandblasted in a few areas from the hail stones. Will have to check the roof for damage this week. Good news is no dents in the 3 vehicles parked outside.

Busy week this week.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Found three more covered hoppers, different makers and one reefer that I liked.

The covered hoppers are:

Model Power Granite Rock #1001, Campbell's Beans, Great Northern 173906 (shorty).

The reefer is an 'Old Dutch Cleanser' Tyco model.

Evening, Guys!

Angel - for Bill and our intentions...

My Stratosphere is still doing well....liking it a lot..

Long day today, Princess worked yesterday until 1245 AM and was up again and at work by 9 today.  She worked until 230 I fed her and back to work again at 4.  Geez, she works harder than her old man.....Laugh.

Jeff - nice work, like the engine.  I'll have to agree, there is little separation from our G , HO & N scale breathern.  There is a lot to be learned on all fronts.

Chuck, I agree, no a fan of the 2 car draft.

Hudson John - I get updates every day, still waiting....no problem.

Enjoying my seasonal favorite Caramel apple with peanuts!

Off for a quick nap, Pick up tonight at 1030PM.  Side job 0600...cash job!

Good morning all,

Chief, prayers sent for your friend Bill.

Doug Da, hope you find the gremlins in your choo choos.

I think Fall has finally arrived here.  Warm days and cool, almost cold nights predicted for the next few days.  Makes for good comfort in the trainroom/garage.

Homemade spaghetti last night with hot french rolls.  Yum yum!

Had a pretty good operating session in train room yesterday with no pile ups.  Ran for about an hour with favorite music CD's playing in the background on my $3.00 CD player from a garage sale.  It has been working fine now for over 6 months.  Best buy I ever found.

Union Pacific 4-8-4 #844 is suppose to come through Southern California next month enroute back to its home in Cheyenne.  Should be good for photography in San Timeto Canyon entering L.A. Basin.  It is coming from Arizona over the former SP line from Yuma to West Colton (Bloomington) California.  It will be on display there for one day and then will continue over Cajon Pass enroute to Las Vegas.  I might go out and watch it if I feel up to it.  Wouldn't cross the street to see a diesel though.

Got to get ready for church.

Later, Ray

Mornin' Y'all.

Friday was not a good day at the museum, think my Atlas SD-35 may have fried it's TMCC board(s). Crying Got to much on my plate for the next few weeks so it will have to sit in the maintenance yard for awhile. A few DCS gremlins as well were active which created some headaches most all day long. Sad

Still trying to get the halloween garage layout together but it seems like I keep second guessing and making changes. The "Hallow's Eve 4-6-0" was shipped friday from TrainStation, hopefully it will be here in time.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Partly Sunny Taxachusetts,

It was down in the high 30s last night and low 60s on tap for today.  No rain!!!!!

We are supposed to go out and get our pumpkins today with the grandkiddies and, I suspect, along with most of  the rest of the planet.  I am not feeling too good about the prospects......pumpkin shortage here, and we waited too long, should have gone out sooner this season.  I like the BIG ones.

This morning I wanted to go early to beat the crush.  But we can't reach the daughter and son-in-law by phone or email.  Lucky thing that modern devices have improved communications so much.  We tried two cell phone numbers, their home number, and email.  I'd try smoke signals, but there is a ban on burning here.  Bang Head

Later, gangsters.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Good morning. It's 63 and cloudy. The high should be 80 with a 50% chance of thunderstorms. It's possible we'll have a couple of storms this morning.

Tabasco lemonade please.

More layout clearing on the schedule. Yesterday I went and voted in the state elections. I was a bit miffed because the voting machine wouldn't allow me to vote for the police juror for my district. Several other people were getting a bit ugly about it as well. As I was leaving a couple of the people who had finished voting cut the turn out of the parking lot and their right front wheel missed the culvert resulting in being stuck there. I told them if they had a rope or chain I could pull them out of there. About that time a couple of big cornbread and beans guys turn up and grabbed the front of the car and lifted it up like 'OK, where do you want it'. Upon getting home I discovered that the cable was out (that meant no internet) so I set to work on a Tyco 'Old Dutch Cleanser' hopper I got in the mail yesterday. It was just the body. It wasn't long before I came up with trucks and wheels for it. I added an ounce of weight to it then body mounted a pair of Kadee #242 coupler boxes. Kadee #5 couplers were next and it was done. Maybe later today I'll file the round hatches off the top and replace them with oval hatches I have that were left over from a kit.
