Evening All,

Spent a couple of hours trying to resurrect a G-Scale, self propelled '31 Ford pickup.  Wasn't successful, the gear on the drive axle is stripped and the worm gear wont reach it.  The motor is great, and the condition is good, but the gear is really in a tough spot to get too.  Will have to investigate other alternatives.

Then had an interesting situation develop.  I had applied for a temporary position working at Knott's Berry Farm, for the annual Halloween Haunt in the traffic department.  Was told I was hired, and did the drug tests, then they would notify me.  Haven't heard a thing since.  Tried calling a couple of times, and was told that they would get a hold of me when they were ready, and they were processing a lot of people.  So OK will wait.  Today I called and actually talked detail with a person, and they said they tried calling me on Sept 16., but just got a busy signal.  Ironically, Verizon had our phones all messed for 2 days at that time.  Can't say they were very vigilante on the follow-up.  So they told me to come in today for processing.  Ended up getting a uniform issued, (tan pants, iridescent yellow shirt, bright competition orange wind-breaker, and blue cap.)  Don't know when I start or how much I will work, find that out tomorrow.

Did rain some today, but not measurable, suppose to be up to a 1" tomorrow.  (Probably end up starting the job tomorrow working in the rain. lol)

Busy day tomorrow, Dr appt in am, some product deliveries to be made, find details out on job, and attend train club  meeting, ALL in the rain of course.

Jim(probe) - Most of these other guys probably wouldn't give you the straight scoop, but from a reliable source (me) you owe it to yourself to get to York at your earliest opportunity.  You wont be disappointed.  As a matter of fact you will THEN want to go frequently.

Good night and God Bless !

Don

RT - no jumping jacks!

No York this Fall.  I'm waiting for Spring and will finally meet SJ and Charlie face to face Thumbs Up  Hope to meet all of you guys Smile

Doc increased Char's vitamin D and cut Prednisone.  Told her to get a flu shot - specific one.

I had Kev pull the old WH up the hill on my two wheeler and we put it at the curb.  I picked up all the trash from the box and some drywall mess too.  Other than that - worked today, but took off early to avoid the traffic problems with the game and the President in town at the same time.

Tardis is ready and the guys had to wake me up earlier, but we are good to go - launch!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

I had another busy day today.  I only have two more weeks of training left.  I can't wait to get back to the wife and kids and make our move to Japan.  The Yankee bats came alive tonight and the series is now on its way back to NY.  I hope they bring the bats again Thursday night.

I'll say prayers for all those in need.

Good night,

Joe

Back at work for a few days. Rain and wind all day long on the mountain. Chance of Snohio(?!) tonight. Chuck and Buckeye got the cannon pointed the wrong way (or a MAJOR overshootSurprise) . Down 500 clicks....

Very busy weekend but a good one. Car has new oil (for the first time), the motorcycle is officially mine, and yes, I now have a cell phone. Will port the home phone # over shortly.

Anj - nice looking Roadrunner!

Brutus - good news about Char!

Well, back to painting.

Sunny, 70's today.

Stopped by the LHS and picked up my Texas Special SD70 today.  On the quick test run I did with it tonight, it seems to be a smooth runner, is well detailed, and has a nice sound package.

I have not found the right combination on the smoke unit though.  I fed it about 20 drops, it started smoking, then quit.   A puff of air down the stack did not really help.  I think it is either too dry, too wet or air locked.  I'll let it set overnight and have at it again tomorrow.

Good news from Chuck, Char, and Mrs. SJ.

All for now.

Aloha from another beautiful fall day in Chicago.Hope you're getting this weather, Fife. Sunny, 70s, sigh!  Ran trains last night and had a blast. Although I've run a few loops during the past few months, this was different - set up and ran everything. Starting to clean up the layout after its nice weather lay-off. Found a few issues to fix that seemed to come from a caroming hockey puck. (I'll have to chat with the boys about that Smile) Glad you didn't lug that water heater up by yourself, BrutusDonB, my daughter continues to work 'traffic' and parking at Cedar Point (in OH) on weekends. She enjoys the work - and the paycheck.

Probe goto York they have a table outside that you can get signed up and pay admission this late in the game about the best way to do it. you couldn't get it signed turned in and back in time for next Thursday. I'm sure if you contacted john who lives near by he would vouch for you and then one of the others at the sign in table would be your second signature or 2 of them at the table would. ( just don't tell them you know the chief )

Morning all hows it going. Quiet last day of vacation feels good to have ceiling fan back in the den. For time being just going to leave the long shaft on it. Will change it down the road if it gets in the was or decide don't like it.

Well hope all having a good day. Talk to you all later

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI wtih temps in the 70s.  Still beaming from Sunday despite "my" soccer girls losing last night.  To respond to an earlier post, yes, they do drive that close on the ovals most of the time.  Watch them in Vegas on Oct. 16 on ABC with 34 cars entered (all will race).  It is the last hurrah for the old chassis and engine combination, and anybody who has a roller will be running.  It wiil be wild.  "My" soccer boys play tonight and have a good shot at winning the sectional.  Could be an interesting month.  Bran muffins on the dining car all week this week.  TBIL and I can drive after the game.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Fife and Brent,

Thanks for that.  I am going to get this application asap.

Really liking the 783.  I haven't tried the SoS yet because the foam rubber it is mounted on is shot, but I did put a 2426RS tender from 1997 behind it instead.Thumbs Up  I also ordered a set of Williams Luxury Lines Madisons for it to pull from Marty B. online around 2AM this morning.

Good morning all,  Rain! in Southern California.  It's a big deal here.  Hillsides will get plenty of water and fire danger will be over for this season I hope.

All this talk about York is making me jealous.  I used to go twice a year but haven't been for the last 10 years.  I always liked the Fall York best because the weather was usually warmer and the Fall colors were present.  Most of the incliment weather I experienced was in April but it is unpredictable.

D.Baker, you sure come up with interesting jobs.  Knotts sounds like a good gig.  Maybe they will let you ride the train and give you a free chicken dinner.

I pulled a dumb stunt yesterday.  I was moving some things out of the yard before the rain came.  I had a sandbag holding down an umbrella stand near the pool.  I tried loading it on a handtruck but it wouldn.t stay on so I just picked it up and hauled it where I wanted to put it.  My back was complaining afterward and I am hoping I didn't reinjure myself.  Feels a little better today but I am back on the straight and narrow.  Doubling up on the Aleve again.

Got my dental problems fixed yesterday and that problem is solved thankfully.

Just plan to take it easy today and enjoy the rain.

Talked to my sis in North Carolina last night about our upcoming visit next month.  We both agreed on Carolina Bar B Que while I'm there cause we don't get any here.  Maybe some seafood too.

later, Ray

Good evening guys.  Had a rough night of sleep followed by a dark early case.  All went well and I got home early to take bride out to lunch.
DougM., thanks again on the information.  I had sent a email to Amazon folks and they pretty much confirmed what your thoughts were, but in a more corporate sounding response.  (they were sending my thoughts onto product developement).  Now I think the clear choice is either an iPad2, or a netbook/ibook.  On that note, I see where Steve Jobs died.  Sad, he was very innovative and has done much for the world.
Chief, I have said it before and it bears repeating....you are a very generous soul.  Keep up the good works.
Spanky/Rich, I agree about Christie changing a lot of the way things have been done in the past and he is very outspoken.  Not sure I would have liked him for president due to his social issues, but he does bring a fresh way of thinking to the political class.
Well, we are still keeping busy with our adoption paper work.  It seems like a never ending battle of what form needs to be sent where, and who needs what notorized, etc.  I am glad my bride is so good at handling most of this type work as it makes my head hurt.

Joe, still hoping to head out that way, but as mentioned above, been real busy with work. family, and adoption.  May still make it though.  Have MIL coming here this weekend.  Next weekend, our case worker for the home study will be coming here....just one thing after another.

I had better get going.  Hope each of you has a blessed night,
Dennis

Hello all,

Been following without taking time to post. Busy as He** at work and at home.

Talk of York makes me want to go.  I went once about twenty couple years ago. Was signed in as a guest by a friend. It was amazing. Next week is out but I'm going to start planning for April. Look forward to meeting some of you in person. I never even managed to make it there while my daughter spent two years in York at Bradley Academy.

Off to bed

Prayers for those in need

Evening all!

Been really busy at work this week trying to clear things for the trip to York next week.

Tired. Although better the pain in the shoulder and neck really wears one out.

Ray - I can only imagine the same ting with the back. Please take care and let that heal up!

John - I will be at York. Looking forward to it.

Chuck - it is a joy to read your posts each day!

Brutus - sounds like Char keeps getting better each day and dropping the level of Prednisone is a good thing.

Dennis - the good news about all that adoption paperwork is the prize at the end!

Don - no therapy yet as we are still trying to figure out the problem and what to do about it.

Probe - show up at York and introduce yourself and there will be people that will co-sign the form right there. I think I read in the last TCA news that they finally voted to eliminate the 2 signature rule. Not sure when it goes into effect.

SJ - great to hear that Granny is motoring around on her own.

So sad about Steve Jobs passing. Seems he had no time to relax and enjoy his last years. Will be interesting to see how Apple fares moving forward. There are a lot of companies that go into a dive mode when the original innovator no longer is active in the business.

Have a great evening all and a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Wow, I cannot believe I am still awake!  My classmates and I went out to dinner together this evening.  We went to a local catfish place.  I had a seafood sampler consisting of catfish, scallops, shrimp, oysters, and stuffed crab - it was all fried.  And since I was on a roll I capped the meal off with some fried blackberry pie and banilla.  I just finished some schoolwork and now I need to get some sleep.

Dennis - I understand about being busy.  The 15th and 16th is my last weekend here.  I will graduate on the 19th and fly out on the 20th.

Good night,

Joe

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 58 degrees. Suppose to be sunny and warm today. Hope so.

Today is an easy day. The exercises and a few little chores to do. Watched the baseball playoffs last night. Tonite should be a good game from NYC.

Nothing new on the train subject. I should be able to get down to the train room in a couple of weeks. I sure hope so, getting the itch to run trains.

Dining car has rolled in and I see an omlet for breakfast today. Cheerios tomorrow.

Y'all have a great Thursday.
