Good afternoon all,  had dentist appointment early this morning and another one tomorrow.  Getting yard ready for possible rain on Wednesday and Thursday.  Cleaned out gutters today.  Actually my son did.

Chief, hope your elbow lump is better now.  That sounds like a nasty spill.  I don't go anywhere near roofs or ladders anymore.  As for riding around to doctors like old folks, I'm already there.  Got my reservations made to go see my sister in Jacksonville, N.C. on November 5th.  Hope you can keep the snohio people out of North Carolina until my trip is over.

Missed last two train meets account conflicts with other duties and it looks like I will miss another one next month.  Hope to be able to go to Cal Stewart though in November.

Chuck, glad to see you're still reporting in every day.  Best wishes for more recovery.

later,

Ray

Just got back from the college....Princess is abed early, which means early class tomorrow.  Also means early start on the ol' roadrunner Thumbs Up

Spanky...thanks!  You should post your Camaro....Between you, me and Probe, we got the big 3 covered, muscle car wise...Smile, Wink & Grin

Probe: They are glass, fortunately, but I think the Halogen bulbs may be getting weak.  I thought about the SilverStars and @ $40 for the pair, really aren't that bad.

Yanks are tied with the Tigers....might run upstairs and lounge for a bit.

Yeah...you OLD guys...lol!!!  I hear that alot at the fire house, it's nice to hear someone else get that!

As far as Chris Christie, yeah the unions are very angry with him, but I would GLADLY pay 30% of the $800 per month I had to pay for my healthcare....$200/week is a LOT!  That would be like $275/month.  But the Democratic legions here handed out the store to everyone that cried (for YEARS!) and he is trying to fix it.  The bank is empty and still the hands are out.  Go figure.  Millionaires Tax?I NEVER got a job from a poor person.  IF we tax the "wealthy", there are NO jobs to be created.

ok off the SoapBox.....Bang Head

Thanks for the information Doug!  I thought that would be the way to go...but now about the iBook, Hmmm.  I was also looking at the new Kindle Fire, but Apple clearly has the dominance in Apps.

We got the official count on Courageous.  It was the fourth best movie, but the first for new releases and had a lot higher per screen count.  Should be in theaters for several weeks and as of Sunday night, had grossed over 9 Million.  We are already hearing stories from folks who have seen it.  Hope it has a huge impact.

Gotta get some sleep.

Evenin' All.

Did the same as Ray, except I had to go up on the roof myself much to the disagreement of SWMBO. Gutters were completely dry so all the debris came out real easy with the leaf blower, no scooping required. With that said now it probably won't rain. Clown

Sure miss my 65 Goat when I catch the Barrett-Jackson auctions on tv. Don't know which I went thru faster gas or rear tires. Embarrassed

Rich, Here in lalaland it's just as bad if not worse. Super Angry

Quick question for you MTH guys. Are the diesel traction tires the same one for all models ?

Another nice fall day here today.

My 'hide in the train room' tactic didn't work tonight.  My wife's group of friends was one short tonight - I got drafted to fill in.

All for now.

Just passing through - I'll catch up tomorrow.  Wife had doc appointment and all numbers were BETTER.  They reduced her prednisone again and also gave her the okay for our vacation.  Mike is driving, let's light this candle :)

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold and damp morning. I miss the warm sunshine in the morning.

Today is an easy day. I have some paperwork to do and a book to read. I am just taking it easy.

Leg muscles are starting to ache form exercises. This is the part that I don't like.

Dining car is here with an omlet for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Hi GUYZ,

Last day o rain here seems like it will never end?  Gotta cut grass sometime?

CHUCK, soreness is a good thing.  It means your using muscles you didn't know were there.  Getting stronger everyday.  Keep up the good work.  You'll be like ARNOLD in no time.

Morning all.  Pretty day and still cool but warming back into the high 70's.  Meeting this AM and then mow grass and maybe go check fire ants at lease.

LawsonFarmsRR

Chief - Bent the ladder? Diet time!!

Pat

Ladder bent at the top section due to being suddenly jammed between the house and the bottom 2X4 on the deck railing.  RT, no one there to hold the ladder.  Actually I had done this several times before treating the decking with preservative.  Went to Sherwin Williams paint store [get discount].  Guy there [parttime preacher] buddy recommended I use an oil base to last longer.  Well, it is great for covering.  Water beads up great.  Slick as oil [especially if wet].  We have actually put an outdoor rug on the deck due to it being slick when wet.  Even with the ladder almost stright up, the rubber feet slid backward as I was going to step on the roof.  I actually did good on riding it down until it hit the 2X4.  Jamed the top between the house and the railing.  Top section bent and I hit the deck and was partially on top of the ladder.  All happened with in one second.  Very fast fall.  Right elbow hit hard.  If ladder had not jammed, I could have ridden it down and probably landed feet first.  Moral of the story: don't use Sherwin Williams oil base deck preservative.  Slick.

Off to a meeting.

Aloha from another beautiful fall day in Chicago. Bride is going out so hope to have train time tonight - especially as it's now dark when I get home. Dennis, the Kindle Fire is a nice Amazon-buying tool and nothing else. The browser doesn't even work in 3G. Glad you're OK, Chief. That could've been worse. Pat, I'd love to see my neighbors if I could borrow a grass-eating cow. Though the town wouldn't be pleased, friends just lost a knock-down fight about backyard chickens. Now banned... Great news about Granny and Char!  Don't see a virtual train controller on the new iPhone 4S http://tnw.co/nZCiAU

Good Morning

54 with bright sun, 70 later, maybe.

Looks like a nice warm week, a good time to do the put away stuff routine. Most of it is already done so I might just ignore the rest for now. No big plans for the day...S.J.

Morning all!

Been AWOL. Had a very busy weekend and so no time to check the POT. Went to HS band competition all day Saturday. They sort of choked a bit but made it into finals. Rescued themselves and salvaged a 6th place out of 35 bands. Spent Sunday morning recovering from Sat and then went to the State Fair Sun afternoon and stayed until 9 pm. The weather was great and so were the corndogs!

Yesterday was busy - worked until 10:30 pm as I am off next week for York so I have to get things ahead so when I return it is not too big of a pile.

Have doc appt today and MRI on Friday. Neck is definitely better but I have to manage it carefully or the pain starts up again.

Chief - Hope you are OK after the fall. Sounds like it but hope no lingering issue comes up.

DJ - take care of your eyes. I hate the googles but they are really useful. My table saw throws a lot of chips forward, esp on plywood.

Have a great day all! Off to the doc!

Regards, Roy

Good Morning,

Got through the wedding on Sunday.  It was very nice, done outside with perfect weather.Seems that some of the traditions have changed a bit.

- Wasn't a toast to the Bride and Groom, from anyone.  Seemed odd.

- No Best Man, 2 Groomsmen, (brothers), OK I guess, maybe that is why no toast.

- No Bride's money dance.

The other thing that seemed odd to me, was that everyone in attendance lives within 10 miles of my location, yet the wedding was held 95 miles away.  Thought it must be a very special place, but not really.  Plenty of similiar places around here or even nicer.  Not my choice, but Im just getting older, and it must be showing.

But, overall it was well done.

As always, envious of all you guys headed to York.  (No surprise attendees this time, that I'm aware of.  Hope you all have a great time!)

Roy, You better wear a neck brace, all that violent twisting looking at both sides of an aisle at York could be dangerous.  Or maybe plan on looking at ONLY one side of the aisle at a time.  Then you could also have John concentrate on one side also, he doesn't need any more equipment anyway.

Chief, are you sure you didn't have the wrong end of the ladder on the deck, you know the end with the rubber feet should be down.  Glad you didn't get hurt any worse.  Next time you should call Brent and see if he has any suggestions or advice.

Doug(DG), sent you an email with a tire chart for MTH, I had found on the web somewhere a few years ago.  Hope it helps. (File is in pdf format, don't know how to get it in the forum, or attach it.  Will email it to anyone who wants it.)

Ray,  sounds like you will have a great trip planned.  When was the last time you were back there?

Was GREAT to hear that Amanda Knox was released!  I'm sure there was consideration of the potential embarrassment by the Italian government.  Got to give them credit for NOT turning it into a political situation.

Looking forward to the rain the next couple of days, it actually is sprinkling this morning.  Think I better check the gutters as well, doubt if there is very much if any accumulation, but need to check just the same.

AGHR train club has a meeting tomorrow night, pre-meeting announcement is emphasizing dues increase.  I hope the rumors are incorrect, found out there are only 17 members in good standing, and a significant dues increase ($350-$400) annually, could really cause that number to decrease.  Don't see a lot of opportunity for fund raising. And new member campaigns don't look real promising.  Could be a major concern for the longevity of the club!

Hope everyone has a great day!

(Ray, Dennis and Doug enjoy the weather.)

LOL PAT, it would be nice but they' would put too many hoof prints all over my lawn and I can't erase them.  Plus dog would be rolling in all those pies.  Milk would be good though hope you have some of those chocolate cows?

Good morning all,  dropped off my partial at dentist this morning for reline.  Will pick it up at 4:00PM today so I will be toothless for a while.

Doug (DG), I don't know what Don's chart says, but I have always used the same size tires on all diesels.  I believe the prototype wheels are all the same size too.

Don, I haven't been to the East coast since about 2001.  Unfortunately, my trip will be a short one.  I would like to stay longer but my son who is going with me can't miss that much work.  I hope enough of your club members will remain at AGHR to save it if the rent goes up.

Chuck, what? No Cheerios today?  Just kidding.  Omlets are needed once in a while so you won't get bored.

Might run some trains today since it is cool.  I need to put some waterproofing on entrance door to train room/garage.  It is not a solid door and the veneer on the weather side is suffering.  I have a security door in front of that but it is open to the air with just iron bars.

Roy, have a nice time at York.  Wish I could be there but other priorities.  Be careful with your neck.  Saw an article in the paper today about how dry some Texas HS footfball field is.  They are watering twice a day but it is still dying.  They say football is a religion in that town so field is very important.  Hope it cools off in your neck of the woods soon.

later,

Ray

Afternoon all,

I only got one response to my York post. Guess no one else is coming?

Chief, When your wife said you look like old people, she was half right, YOU ARE OLD!  Time to let a young guy do the climbing for you.

Sun was out and I thought the rain was over, wrong.  It was drizzling a few minutes ago.  Now I think sun is coming out again.

All this talk of York in the spring is motivating me.  I've always wanted to go, and I think it is time to just do it.  What do I have to do to get into the TCA?

Got the 783 in this afternoon.  I read mixed reviews on 783s, but I am glad I bought it.  It runs every bit as well as PW Lionel, and that's saying something based on how I feel towards MPC era production. I am going to tear it down and go through it on Friday just to be sure it gets a cleaning and fresh grease.  I was going to get the Madisons out of the CC GG1 set out to run behind it, but I am thinking of getting a set of the Williams Luxury Lines Madisons instead of putting the wear og the CC Madisons.

Took wife shopping today and spent more than wanted to. :) needed new ceiling fan for den but told wife I would just get a light for the winter and then in the spring i would look at maybe getting a new ceiling fan well we went into Lowe's and she pointed out a $49 dollar light fixture and there wasn't really anything special about it I saw the price and said hell if I'm going to spend $50 on a light I'll just add $10 and get a ceiling fan. Well as we went down the aisle a little was there was a Hunter Breeze ceiling fan discontinued reg $89.99 on sale $42.00 told them bring it down heck they never even completely hooked it up all they did was hook it up so the light shown so you could see what it would look like. the only draw back is it has about 30" drop pole hooked to it but I can change that later. ( glad I have 10" ceiling in this room.  :lolol: ) the chains are just about a inch above my head when I walk under it and I'm 5'9"

not to much else going on today talk to you all later
