Good afternoon everyone.  Been a long week with lots of big cases.  I am tired!  Had a dinner engagement last night and so it was late night and early morning.  Waiting till time to pick up the kids.  SWMBO has a list for me to get to also.  We are awaiting the mail delivery as my wife has a new phone coming in, and I have that security system that is supposed to arrive.

Hope folks are doing well and that Chuch is mending.  Will keep them and others in my prayers.
God Bless,
Dennis

V8 Dennis it was Charlie who wanted the Allegheny, I agreed to go in half with him. I did have some issues about the shop selling them and the fact that K-Line was gone. He wisely decided to wait for a Lionmaster or scale one to come along some day.

Afternoon Gents and Happy Labor Day weekend!

I have had one of the 10" Remington Pole Saws for years and I will comment that is is handy but it is also top end heavy.  It is too heavy to hold out to one's side. Thus (at my age anyway) I am only able to use it when on a ladder holding it nearly straight up to maintain balance - so one can only cleanly cut limbs that stick out to the side. I also tend to scar up the bark around the cut area if not real careful. I use the saw more off the pole than on.

If I need to trim branches (but I contract this out now since my trees are rather large) again - I would get the chain saw attachment for my Craftsman weed wacker (that has changeable shafts). The chain saw assembly is much lighter and one has the motor to balance the saw head. Just my My 2 Cents.

Another hot one here (100+). Supposed to start cooling down this weekend if one calls mid/hi 90's cooler. The bad news is as it cools down the humidity goes up so it is just as bad.

Continued prayers for Chuck, Char, and others in need.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

It has been another slow day here.  I finally got out to do some grocery shopping for dinner tonight.   I had a hard time walking around the super market.  My back is only good for about 10 minutes of that and then it starts hurting.  Still on the muscle relaxers  which is OK if I don't do much.

More prayers for Chuck and his wife.  Hope that  him making it this far is a good omen.

I did run some trains this morning and that felt good.  Operated the layout and listened to CD's for about 2 hours.  I probably over did it.  Lately I have been running four trains at one time with two on each of my double track main.  Keeps you on your toes to avoid rear in collisions.

Haven't heard much from Chief this year about his tomato crop.  Must be doing poorly without enough rain.  Of course the hurricane probably dumped too much water all at once.

Cooking up some snap beans and red potatoes tonight to go with some Coho Salmon I picked up at the market today.  Having lemon meringue pie for desert.

Have a good labor day week end,

Ray

Another late night tonight and back to work in 9 hours.

Brutus - Like you we almost never loose power, just when someone down line takes out a pole.

DougM - Our casual dress Friday runs year round. It is nice.

RaySP - Don't over do it with your back. The downside is far worse and long lasting, but you know that already. Try and do the things you enjoy most, like runnin' the trains!

Jack - Nice to leave Fenway in one piece. It's been a scary place for years. Now you have to tangle with Texas while we're playing the BlueJays. Just love the sight in my rear view mirror (Just stay there now, OK?)

Where's Traindood??

Have a nice and quiet Labor Day weekend whilst I labor away!

Good evening all,

I'm still in Broken Arrow at the in-laws house.  Today was the wife's birthday.  We ate at The Cheesecake Factory for lunch and a local Mexican place for dinner.  I bought her a ruby ring she picked out.  Ruby is our kids' birthstone; all of them were born in July.  She already has enough jewelry in her birthstone.

Jack - The family will stay here in Broken Arrow while I'm in AL.  The wife might come down for my graduation.  I'm glad the Yankees won that series in Boston.  The Yankees won tonight and your Sox lost so we are back on top.

Good night,

Joe

Chuck Angel

Howdy guys - well, I got off early and put the family on the train to KC.  They get off at Lee's Summit and my in-laws pick them up there.  They had a pretty good ride, except my daughter had a bad headache and stomach issues.  I guess she got motion sickness on top of everything Sad

Roy - the one I was looking at was electric, which I think would make it lighter?  I'll check it out one of these days.  I don't need it now, so it can wait.

Nice chats with SJ and RT on the phone and then SJ on messenger.  I somehow changed my user account files on my laptop to hidden?  I managed to undo it, but that's a first Laugh

Got a package from Charlie Ro - the two Halloween cars I had ordered.  Very neat Thumbs Up  I like that Jack-o-Lantern car a lot.

TARDIS is ready and Mike can drive!  We've got Chex Mix, Banilla, and rootbeer, as well as Old Mills, Miller Lites, and a few Sam Adams.  So let's hit it boys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and sticky here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Still dealing with my infection, which will keep me from driving to Richmond for my cousin's wedding...which may cause a stink...which will add to my misery...Sigh

cheapclassics - I am a racing fan.  The course they have laid out is not viewer/traffic/business friendly.  I may cruise up the Patapsco on the yatchet to check out the big money boats that will be there.  It would have been cool to moor out and watch the race along Light St, but the barriers are too high, and the cars sit too low...

RockIsland - The way I understand it, the remnants of TS Lee should help thwart off Kat around Thursday.  Still can't get over the situation in Vermont.  Haven't seen any footage of police officers looting televisions like after Katrina...

jonadel - Kudos on your layout pic. YesCool I look forward to reading your upcoming article.

Time to wash fifey's whities.

Good Morning

79 and 90 today, stuffy, a hard to breath day.

Fife police officers looting in the USA, no couldn't be. Oh yeah it could, now they can take your hard earned stuff without even having a search warrant. Yep land of the free. I better shut up before I get booted. No plans for the day, waffle with homemade applesauce for breakfast...S.J.

Good Morning,

Drying out here at Exit 8....looks like the Feds have denied our county of FEMA funds....go figure.  We opened the main road through town Thursday and had a work detail last night. The firehouse needs to be redone due to the water/flooding. I was MIA last night, I took a nap @ 7 PM and got up at 10 AM....

Have a impromptu party later today at my friends house, of course the whole family will be there...

Hudson/John...Thanks for keeping the lights on...

Prayers for Blueberry & Paula, Char and those in harms way both here and abroad.

8 days till 9/11.....

Afternoon all!

Kind of a lazy day today. Wind is picking up in advance of the cool front coming tomorrow. Today may be our last 100 degree day this year. If so we will not break the all time record of 1980 - will be one day short.

Brutus - the Remington I have is electric (10 ").

LAZ sounds like a nice evening to start your fall season.

Continued prayers for Chuck, Char, our east coasters, and now the Gulf Coast..

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

Good afternoon all,
I woke up early this morning and picked up two dozen Krispy Kreme donuts for everyone.  I probably have eaten about eight already myself.  The princess and I had a lunch date at Olive Garden, and sometime this afternoon I will take all the kids to the Tulsa aquarium.  I just finished watching Utah St. blow the game against Auburn; that would have been a huge upset.  The Yankees are leading the Blue Jays right now.  PSU smoked Indiana St. so today is going well sports wise.  The FIL is smoking some ribs for dinner tonight.

Prayers for Chuck and his family.
Good day,
Joe

Good afternoon Y'all!  Running a bit slow today...been one of those weeks.  Joe, I got in touch with Dr. John to get his OK to share information, I will pass that along to you.  You will like him...real down to earth kinda preacher.
Laz, congratulations on breaking in the new pit and also the start of your final year.  I am sure it will be a good one for you.  Just watch that all the admin folks don't try to hit you up for free labor to do projects around their houses this year....wait till next year and charge them!
Rich, perhaps if your Governor had a different letter after his name, NJ might have gotten more assistance?  Just Say'in :-)
Roy, caught your picture in the "other mag" that I got recently.  Congratulations on being held in such high regard.  They wouldn't let an amature be on such a project, or be filmed as part of such a team!  Good luck with those low temps.  Perhaps the AC will only run 23 hours of the day now!

Well, I was finally able to figure out the video security system for the house.  Will install in the next few days.  Most of the cameras will be easy, one will be a bit more difficult.  This may be a good time to make a storage closet out of a "hidden space" in one of the guest rooms.  I have to gain access to this area by cutting the wall anyway, so perhaps I need to chat with the wife.

God Bless,
Dennis

Back at work for a few days. Have Monday off due to the holiday. Rained pretty good up here today.

Running the Hardwood Floor Central on a regular basis now.

Think I saw the UP's SP Daylight locomotive on the end of a train yesterday. Like that paint scheme.

Thoughts and prayers for Chuck and those back east.

Good evening all,

IIASBSDISEI with temps at 100.  Reffed two games this morning.  Very hot.  Had water breaks at the 15 minuter mark.  First game was a blowout 11-0.  Second game was more interesting.  Local team was tied 1-1 at half, fell behind early in the second  2-1, rattled off 4 straights to make 5-2 and held on to a 5-3 win.  Wild and wooly.  Came home and collapsed in chair.  Got up to do sweeping for wife, and went to 4:30 Mass.  Going  down to Bloomington to watch IU soccer and visit with kids.  Some good news in Indy car.  AJ's team rallied from a first day 21st quick time to grid 14th and Swiss Miss is starting 12th.  Will Power (who else) is on pole.   Princess is 25th (she can't leave soon enough).  Watched "Nine" last night.  Interesting movie.  I hope everone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening

82 now, high 90s this afternoon.

Clusters of storms all over the place since early evening. It stopped the Tigers game for awhile but glad they got to finish. They were down 8-6 bottom of the 9th. With a  triple and 2 homers  they walked away with a win. Banilla is ready..S.J.

Good evening all! Very productive day today at work and it looks as though the weather will be good for work the next couple of days.

First and foremost Angel for Chuck.

JoeD - Sounds like you're having a good time at the inlaws. Krispy Kreme tried to establish itself here in Ocean County a few years ago but I believe Dunkin Donuts was just too much for them.

Roy - I heard about the weather breaking for you on the radio this morning but I had no idea it was close to a record. What say yee boy's? Let's go for the record! Who's with me?

SJ - Knock wood but it looks as though your Tigers are locking up the division soon.

Nite all!

Prayers for Chuck and for us all and our intentions.

Ray - Personally, I prefer Dunkin Donuts, but they mostly disappeared here before Krispy Kreme showed up.  Now they have been making a come back and I have heard that Krispy is in a bad way financially?

Today I slept late, killed zombies, checked out my new Lionel Halloween Cars (KUDDOS BIG L FOR GETTING THESE OUT IN TIME FOR SHOPPERS!!!), and did some work on the front of the house.  Char wants the bushes I killed myself planting 12 years ago to be gone now (gasp!), so I took out one big section of them and bagged them up today.  This is the section where I needed to get at the drain, too.  I got out the pressure washer, but then it started to drizzle rain, so I put it away and called it a day.  Some more zombies, a big roast beef sandwich for me and a small one for Chewy, and then chatted with SJ, John, and RT for a while.  Apparently, I let a "hoppy bug" into the house, and Chewy is stalking it under and around the furniture Smile  I hope she gets it, before Char gets home again!

Last night I watched Dylan Dog (B+) and The Hills have Eyes (A).  Tonight I have watched Poltergiest, and I'm going to watch another movie before I hit the hay - maybe a comedy?

TTFN - TARDIS is ready and we have leftovers plus John brought another big tub of Banilla Smile

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Evening!

Long time no post, (sorry about that!)

Most important concern is of course Chuck, sure hope things are OK for him.  Although I am concerned.  I know Buckeye has been doing everything he can do, but situation seems a little peculiar.  So hopefully some good news maybe coming soon, I hope so.

I have noticed lots of other things have occurred as well.  Big Congrats to Brent and Susie Q !

Glad to see everyone survived the earthquakes, storms, hurricanes and all the other stuff that has been going on.  Hopefully the hurricane season will end soon, and the fire season will be lite or moderate.

On our front.....

- Havn't made any progress on the outside G-Scale train track yet, just a lot of other "stuff" gotten in the way.

- Wife, broke her foot, just before she took her parents back to Wis for a family reunion.  She was gone for 3 weeks.  Chris flew back to join them for a week.  Fortunately they had a great time, and ALL got home safely.  So all is well.  While they were gone I primarily worked on a number of different projects around the house.

- Chris transferred to Cal State Fullerton as a Junior in the Geology Dept.  And his entire world has changed!  He has joined the national professional organization, attended a couple of meetings and becoming very involved with them.  At school he is so excited regarding the classes, he ends up spending extra time in the various labs.  Between the two activities.he has weekend field trips scheduled every weekend (except 2) from now through end of October.  He resigned from his job, just prior to the trip to Wis., which was fine.  As we had previously discussed his focus need to be on his classes this semester.  So what happens.... the university (in particular the school of Science and Math), have various positions available to students.  And they schedule the work hours around the students classes.  He ended up with an administrative assistant position in the Physics department upon the recommendation of the Geology dept chairman.  Will be working 10 hrs a week.  What is good is that he has a couple of days with 5 hr breaks between classes, so it will work out well.

- As for me, just regular routine stiff.  I start Jury Duty this next week.  The way it is handled here, is I'm on "call" for 7 days.  I need to call in the prior day, and they tell me whether I need to report to the court house or not.  So as of now I have to go in on Tuesday.  So that will be the activity this week.  Then Friday, Chris is going on the first field trip.  However, he doesn't get out of class until 4, and most everyone else is leaving at noon.  His instructor doesn't want him to miss class, and its about 350 miles away.  So I am going to drive up to the area (Mammouth Lake), and then continue on to Reno and visit my brother.  Chris will come home with all the others and I will come back probably Monday.  Think I will take the El Camino its been a long time since its been on the road.

Then when I get back, I start a new job!  Its most likely temporary, but what the heck.  Knotts Berry Farm has a huge event here every year, called the Haunted Haunt.  They take the entire amusement park and redecorate it all for Halloween.  It is opened around 4 everyday and closes about 1, for 6 weeks prior to Halloween.  I will be working the parking lots directing traffic.  (Just like running trains only a lot of switching going on.)  Who knows may end up with some extra train $$$ or just ending up paying more bills.

- The guys at the train club are really doing well with the Ross Turntable.  Its taken a couple of years but its working rather well.

Don't want to take up more time, so stay well everyone!!

And prayers out for Chuck !!!

SJ,

Hold that snow until at least Nov.  Better yet, just keep it.Smile

Don,

           Welcome

Haven't had a chance to post since starting shifts.  This week I had to get up at 3:45am to be in a meeting for 5:30, then not getting home until around 6:30pm.  I am at a crossroads about the whole thing.

I was told that I'd be working on printers and computers, but I find myself on ladders on the roof of the plant and working on float switches in a sewage pit.Ick!  Also had to fish a co-worker's dropped screwdriver from said pit.  I'd say more about how I feel about being a salary employee in a union run plant, but I'll follow SJ's example and Zip it!

I need to get back to the layout.  Would probably take the edge off.

Mornin' All.

Prayers continue for Chuck & Paula.

Last sunday was first planned med adjustment and it went great. Was able to make it thru the entire day at the museum friday. Thumbs Up However when we got home I crashed on the couch for several hours. Second adjustment starts today, hope it goes as well as the first.

Krispy Kreme, if memory serves correctly, was busted by the SEC for "some" bookkeeping irregularities. They were sprouting up out here like dandelions then they just disappeared. I only know of one still open in Sandy Eggo, not sure if it is company owned or franchised. Think it does both retail and wholesale to other types of outlets.

Later all.

D. Baker, welcome back to the pot.  Missed your input while you were gone.  Sounds like a fun gig at Knotts.  Hope you are getting paid for being a traffic cop.  I did that a couple of times at the old location of Cal Stewart in Pasadena.  I was really tired after a day doing that.

Yesterday I spent about an hour in my train room and I think I overdid it.  My back was complaining for the rest of the day.  I feel some better today but I have to take it easy.

Got to get ready for church now.  Have a good labor day all

Ray
