V8Vega, are you referring to the Nethercut auto museum in Sylmar? I have been there twice. It is a great place and is free with just a reservation required. Hope you see the private rail car once owned by Lucky Baldwin's daughter they keep out back along with a Canadian Pacific steam engine. Huel Howser did a program once about that rail car. It is a beaufiful rail car.
Regarding the freeway closure, my son works on the West Side but is not too worried about it. On the news they are calling it carmagedon.
I pulled a dumb stunt this morning and had a fall while trying to sit down in my chair at the computer. Some how the chair on rollers got pushed back so when I sat down nothing was there. I fell on the floor on my right side but nothing is broken as far as I can tell and nothing hurts. I went for a 30 minute walk later so I guess I'm OK.
Temp going up for the next week to the mid 80's they say but it might be in the 90's here in the San Gabriel Valley.
Just saw some photos of all the activities at the TCA National Convention in Sacramento. Looks like it was a good one. Lots of side trips were part of the deal, including trips to Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Yosemite National Park, two railroad museums among other things and lots of layout tours.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again. Friday was a good day, a very good day. I had mentioned earlier that we thought Lucas had lost some scholarship money due to his grades. I kept after him to double-check for a variety of reasons, one of which entailed going back two years to a year where he was entitled to one but no funding was available. He kept putting it off and making excuses for reasons that elude me. Finally Friday I contacted them and they said he was eligible for thre first semester only, but that if he improved his grades he could get it for the entire year. That was fabulous news!!! Perhaps I should not have done so, but I cannot see letting all that money go away just due to some unexplained issues. Only catch is that I will not tell him about the money until it shows up on his school statement....heh-heh-heh. Also, state employees got a little bonus due to the good balance sheet with the finances. Today Lucas mowed and I trimmed trees and washed two of the vehicles. Still no CTT yet. Biggest game of the year is tomorrow as US takes on Japan on ESPN and ESPN3.com. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Nephew's birthday party still going on. We had beef tenderloin and ribs. Outstanding. Plop Plop, Fiz Fiz and off to bed.

We had a pretty uneventful Saturday. The 1y/o son and I were up early and went for a walk to pick up the paper. We spent the morning lazing around but then knocked out a bunch of errands and chores in the afternoon. I smoked some wild salmon for dinner and we finished the night with a game of Bananagrams which is like Scrabble. The Yankees won tonight.
San Fernando Valley Dennis - As previously mentioned, you may post photos of your layout updates and any other train-related topics. If you search the forum for "How to post photos?" you should find some help on how to post your photos. If you are not successful send me a PM (start a conversation) and I will help you.
Dennis - The one set our Hobby Lobby has is a Santa Fe set.
Charlie - How many days are you going to stretch out this birthday thing?
Good night,
Joe
Hey guys. Ran around last night until late, but did get to sleep in a bt this morning. Today, I finished a little plumbing and insulation in the basement bathroom and put up a little drywall. I still have a bit to do, along with some wiring for the fan. Maybe I'll do some tomorrow afternoon? Char is going to check out a new church tomorrow as we are between churches at the moment. Our old one had some problems when the prior pastor retired and they sold the building etc. Hopefully this one will turn out to be a good fit.
Catching up on our Only in America episodes on the DVR - Larry is hilarious!
TARDIS is ready and we have famous Banilla plus Hudson promised us Lemon and Oreo Icecream. Let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 72 degrees. Going up to 84 today with a chance of rain.
Today is an easy day. The usual chores and then relax. Nascar race and ballgame. Maybe I'll run trains later.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Good morning from Roger's Corners, OHIO.
A few isolated thunderstorms developing this afternoon. Hot. High 91F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Ran trains this am with smoke turned on. The whole house smells like good old fashioned train smoke. Minor repair to the old Marx 400 locomotive. It is only 55 years old, so one repair isn't bad, but if I have to repair it again, I'm taking it back!!!
Heading to Walmart today.
Going to Panera's for breakfast and a newspaper.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. Bad day for the USA in World Cup. Plenty of chances to win in regulation and in overtime, and should have won in PKs, but they did not take advantage of the opportunities presented to them. The Japanese did and they won. Officiating was a non factor and the one bad call helped the US so it will be four more years until the US can win again. Took it easy today. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast. A busy week ahead. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

Un-American game. American = Baseball, Baseball, Chevy, Apple Pie and your Mother.
Good Evening
Was 94, it's 88 right now. So it was an indoor day. Watch part of soccer, part of Tigers baseball ( they won), and part of 2 golf games. Daughter stopped by with the boys and some tater salad left from yesterday. Banilla is waiting..S.J.
Good evening everyone. Getting ready for bed. Two great services today at church. Watched the final of the World Cup in the media room before start of the evening service. Didn't like the outcome, but to be honest, the interviews between the players and the news folks seem to make like it was a given that the US was going to win. A bit of humility would go a long way.
Joe, I guess someone got to our Hobby Lobby...they have no "O" gauge at all. Perhaps it will be something they will have around Christmas. Even the HO items were scarce. I may get some of those items for "forced perspective" on the layout.
Well, hope the week ahead is a great one for each of you and your families.God Bless,Dennis

Dennis W., I did not see any of the interviews either before or after the game. One of the attractions of soccer is there are no "givens". Truly almost any team can beat any other team, especially at this level. Soccer, by its very nature, is a very humbling sport. I have seen games where one team has clearly outplayed the other and lose by a large margin. Sometimes it only takes one play to define a game. Today there were several. My team has not lost a game all season and yet I worry about even our first game in the tourney against a team that has only one win.
It was a very relaxing Sunday for us: Church, games, and relaxing. I grilled some rib eye steaks for dinner and made a chimichurri sauce to go with them. We had baked potatoes and spinach salad on the side. It was a delicious meal followed up with a root beer float. The Yankees won again; the Sox were in extra innings.
SP Ray - I received it and replied.
Dennis - Our Hobby Lobby's train items are limited now as well. There are only a few sets left. They still have plenty of scenery items Woodland Scenics. The 40% off coupon makes them good deals.
Good night all,
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s again. Went for a nice walk with the wife last night after it cooled down some. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day and I that finally get the CTT. Despite the loss, soccer still rules in my heart. Only Indycar comes before that in the sporting world.
Off to work so Chief can have a nice retirement income and it is going to be HOT!
It is very humid. 74 degrees. Looks like rain any minute. Going up to 90 today.
Today is a very busy day. I have several errands to run and the usual chores. Then, a project to work on this afternoon. Maybe I can sneak a nap in there someplace.
Dining car arrived from "Points West". Cheerios on the menu for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Hi GUYZ,
Up at 0500 and took dog for a mile walk then did a nice 6 miler in pretty good time. Gotta get the run in before this heat comes this afternoon. To get to mid 90s all week long. Gonna be hot in the LOKIE tomorrow. Hope it fires ok, or else its gonna be a long hot day on the engine.
BUCKEYE! I didn't say that in a few weeks.
Stay frosty bouz,
laz57
Morning all. Waiting while bride makes the morning breakfast. Just catching up on the news and finishing my homework for bible study tomorrow morning. limited schedule, so I will be heading in a little later.
Mike, I agree about any given team can beat any other. I just think that like many other things, people can go into it with too much pride, be it derived on their own, or from folks telling them they are "unbeatable". I also know that one has to watch interviews as there are ways to edit sound bites to say things you may not have intended.
Well, breakfast is here. Hope it is a good day for each of you.Dennis
Good morning
HOT, it was 81 when I opened the door at 7:30 to get the paper. Yes I still read the newspaper. No real plans for the day so I'll just go with it. 2 eggs, home fried taters w/onion, 1 toast. I will skip lunch. Have a great day...S.J.
