Good Morning,
Nothing like working on a scheduled day off. A lot of activity here today. Many problems with the new Freightliner Trucks. We bought a few 20 years ago and history is repeating itself. I am just glad that Ford is building a med-heavy truck again. I am just glad that I am retiring in 19 mo. and 29 days and I will not have to deal with the Freightshakers.
On the train front. I recently purchased a black Lionel 221 to compliment my grey one. I got a good deal and it operates flawlessly.
JEFelectric: John, I am off next week and I may be heading out to the museum. I will drop you a line if I can get away.
Prayers and Thoughts for all in need.
John
OOPS was on the wrong pot...
Hi GUYZ, High 50s right now but gonna hit 90 today. Gotta cut grass and move a ton o bricks. Later today cookout and then watch fireworks on the river at dusk. Got my workout in already, MINNIE got me up at 0500. GOLFed yesterday, really stunk up the course. Couldn't do anything right. I did par the last hole so I guess I'll be back next week to punish myself some more. BEER and chicken wrap was great last nite. Stay frosty boyz, laz57

Mornin' Fellas.Have a few minutes while a process runs so I figured I could post. JT - He kept his distance because he was thinking 'just like a typical FORD driver!' Not much going on around here. Prepping for family next weekend, getting things in order for the pending arrival, trying to relax a little, trying to get ahead at work so it isn't so hectic while I'm working remotely, etc, etc, etc.Took the Beemer in for service. Needed brake fluid flush, engine scope, and new front brakes, sensors, and rotors. They also did the 'Summer Inspection' not sure what that is... I read it as 'we looked at everything to see if we could bleed you for more money' but nothing else needed to be done. Will need an oil change in 7,000 miles. Have 40,000 more miles on the warranty that runs out in January 2012, not sure if I'll be able to get the rear brakes replaced - but really hoping because that is an $850 job (at the dealer).Really liking this car. Much more reliable and stable than the previous one I had. Hope I can streatch her out for another 4 years, but at 30,000 miles per year it could be close. If I can get 4 more out of her then I'll probably get the truck and a convertible...
Aloha. Glad for some company since I seem to be the only person working in Chicago today. 8n, thanks for the definition of Creeping Charlie... I think I'd be happy if anything grew in my lawn BTW, Charlie, welcome back. Taking the youngest to DW in the fall. Your 'creeping comment' made me laugh. Happy belated anniversary, RT. Laz, I'm glad you're resuming your summer workouts. I'm feeling rusty. Praying for Doug. Joe, my friends at the base are IT geeks. Come to think of it, I don't think I'm supposed to know what they do. I'll give them a heads-up about you. What an adventure in car shopping. We got a made in Georgia Kia and the bride's happy since she'll be driving it. I basically followed your lead, Jack. Although I'm making a few follow-up phone calls today about their last minute jerking us around. Ah well. May you have a safe weekend.

Good morning all,
The baby woke up early so I took him with me for a three-mile run. Then we walked about two miles to pick up the newspaper. I already mowed and trimmed the yard so my chores for the day are already finished. We have a busy day planned today for our now 8y/o son. I am not working today so I am able to enjoy a four-day weekend and have plenty of fun with the family.
Doug M - Not many people know what I do either so it will work out well.
RT - Thanks for putting on the fresh pot.
88 - I'm sure everyone is very excited about the new arrival.
Good day,
Joe
Good afternoon guys, and happy Friday. Early start to the day and since tomorrow is my son's birthday, we are getting together with friends and going out to dinner, followed by some cards. While this is a great time in our house, I take pause to remember some friends who died in the line of duty on this date in 1988.
This is a memorial constructed to their memory. It is good that we celebrate them and remember the good times. Hope each of you takes time throughout the year to remember those who have gone on before, and remember them well.
God Bless,Dennis

Dennis tell your son from me and the Mrs.
Doug M thanks for the wishes
Not a lot going on tonight just relaxing and posting some items we got at the auction house the other night on craigslist. I do that once in a while sometimes I get my money plus back sometimes I break even some times it goes back to auction house and we see how we do then lol as you never know one week something won't sell the next it sells like hotcakes lol.
Demay was glad to get a new pot of coffee going.
Brent,
4 years would only be 120K, which isn't even broken in yet in my mind. Is there a limitation due to a lease, or do you just get rid of a vehicle at that mileage?
Doug,
I forgot to mention to you to look into a Murano. I came past the dealer where I got the Mustang, and they still had the Murano that was next to the Mustang when I bought it. Even though I am strictly a Ford guy, Muranos look like they are very nice. It'd be a tough call between that or an Escape.
JT - I get rid of them when the repairs per month are greater than monthly payments on a 'new' car. :) I would have 175,000 on it by then.
WOO HOO. Page 1!
TGIF And it is another hot one - 90/90 type temp/humidity.
CNW1995 - want me to sent you a couple of 'Charlie plants? I'm sure they will take root and have your entire lawn greened up in no time. When that is done, they will start on your neighbor's lawn !
Will have to visit the LHS tomorrow. Some sort of goodie that I had on order was supposet to have arrived this week.
All for now.
First time for me on the pot in months.
Train news: I received my Lionel 5344 NYC Hudson on Tuesday. Had a chance to stretch its legs a bit today. It is a SWEEEET model.
Was in China for 11 days in late October and early November. Saw a few trains including the MagLev but no time to ride. Came home in time to see my urologist, have a biopsy procedure and the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went. Had 66 radioactive seeds implanted on March 4th. Finished 25 days of supplemental radiation two weeks ago.
Doctor told me they have done follow up studies and have only had one patient out of 305 need any further treatment! Pretty good odds in my book.
Have followed the postings all these months and hope to be more of a contributor in the weeks to come.

RRcharlie wow! is all I can say hope you get some straighter rails from here on out. glad to have you back. take care and keep us informed on how your doing.
Hello all,
Back from Pittsburgh, the Docs have recommended a series of 5 radiation treatments for Mom. A 75% chance for complete cure. A definite slowdown of her grade 1 cancer. Her local doc's must certify she is strong enough to withstand the treatments. Thanks for your Prayers.
RR Charlie welcome back. Sounds as if you have dodged a bullet as well.
RI Jack time to relax and do nothing comes all to infrequently. My time with the Pot and trains are most savored.
I'm not sure of who but I think I missed a Birthday and RT's Anniversary. Bubkeye's anniversary too. Is it the first one this year?? How many years?
Off to bed
Prayers for those in need

Good Evening
81 right now. Spent the evening on the the front porch just enjoying summer. Banilla is ready but I'm not sure who has the thingy keys...S.J.
in my case me and the misses has been 27 years
Good evening. Kids are working on going to sleep....it's a slow process. Had a good night with cards...guys beat gals....we will pay for it later. RR Charlie, sounds like you have had quite the adventure lately. China is great! I only have a few photos of trains as we passed, but never got to ride one there. As to the seeds, they have had great success. Trick is to catch it early and to keep up with your follow up appointments.
Well, I am one tired puppy. Hope everyone has a blessed night.Dennis
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s and lots of humidity. Mowed our yard and then did dad's yard for the final time. Made one last sweep of the house and will turn the keys over tomorrow. Had a few moments while doing the yard for the last time. Hard to accept somehow that this page of my life is over. I think the off switch that was set for the past six months was turned on today. Also took care of several financial matters today as well. Long day. Hot day. Sad day. Took wife out to dinner tonight and came home and watched "Mystery Men" again. No matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old. If you want to know anything about me, watch that movie. I had cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
It is a cloudy 68 degrees. Looks like rain any minute. Going up up 78 today.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of paperwork to do and the usual chores. No plans for the weekend. Staying at home. No company. Nascar race tonite and ballgame.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Good Morning !
Happy 4th Weekend, and a belated Happy Birthday and Anniversary to those I've missed.
Been a busy few weeks with Dr and Dentist visits! (So many appointments, I had to give up my routine stop at the donut shop after the appointment, too many.) Good news is everything is OK, even the root canal.
Been working on relocating the Dr's layout. Finally got it moved, reassembled, and wired, that was a job! Over 500 wires. And of course some had to be lengthened, soldered 5-10 additional inches on probably close to 200 wires. It was worse re-wiring than just wiring it up the first time.
Got to work this weekend, looking forward to a layed back day on Monday, maybe START work on my G scale plan for the backyard, providing it isn't too hot.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, just be safe.
Don
Aloha and Happy 2nd! Nice to hear from RRCharlie. Good news about your med issue and yours too, Don! Thanks for the offer of greenery, 8n, it would probably displace the clover and dandelions I am proud to share with my neighbors. That reminds me I probably need to put down the next color of Scotts Weed and Feed - was it the orange bag or is it by number? Jim, the Murano was nice but a little small - we were kind of between the small SUVs and the huge ones. The Sorento was medium sized and still (barely) fit in the garage. Mike C, I know what you mean. Praying for your next chapter. Dennis and RRCharlie, I loved the trains in China, though we never made it out of Hong Kong
77/90s today..maybe storms later because of the heat. We have no special plans for the weekend, the kid's live nearby so if we do anything it's still close to home. No crew for the Tardis last night so I got to bed earlier than usual...S.J.
Nice here today gonna get hot tomorrow. Went to fireworks display at the river it was nice. Had a nice cookout with wife and brother last nite. Gonna clean up some boards of nails from last years demolision. Then get ready for some trout fishing with BRO. Took MINNIE to the creek yesterday to play. We had a ball for 1.5 hours of play fetch with sticks and ball. She swims real good and then slept like a baby last nite.
MEL WELCOME BACK. Glad to hear from you.
Stay frosty,
Good morning all!
At work now starting a new project. If only the rules wouldn't change after I give them to the other workers things would progress faster Daughter number 1 informed me yesterday by texting to all family members "that a BBQ was to held at dad's house on Monday and to let her know if you can come so she knows how much food we need". I didn't know about these plans and, of course, replied I can't make it! Always the last to know things and love to bust chops!
Mel - Good to hear from you and glad for you results. Come by more often.
MikeC - I also know what you mean. When we went through for the final time the house I grew up in, we really took our time. My parents built it and my mother was in it for about 35 years. It really does feel like a chapter is over. How long was your father in it?
Well, back to work!

Had to go to funeral for old neighbor yesterday and it was way too hot. Service was OK at the chapel but graveside service was very uncomfortable. We had an umbrella for shade but it didn't help much. Official service by the church was concluded but the family wanted to do extra stuff with more talks etc. so we slipped away before my wife passed out. The reception was outdoors at a church with shade but no air. We hated to not attend that but we are getting too old to take the heat. Temp at the cemetery was near 100 yesterday with funeral at high noon and interment following about 1:00.P.M. I guess the only good thing you could say was that it was not raining.
We are invited to a cook out near home today around 6:30PM. Hope it cools down a little by then.
Bought a new gas bar-b-que on Thursday but haven't fired it up yet. Got the gas hooked up though. I'm looking forward to doing something with it. I was thinking of saving my old cast iron gas bar b que and make a charcoal grill out of it but don't think I will bother. Anyway it has holes in the bottom for gas burners etc.
Wanted to get together with train buddies Thursday night but two out of four were MIA so we called it off. Hot weather is here to stay for a while now. Time for the beach.
Happy 4th and if you have a 5th, don't drive.
Today is the anniversary of the second days batttle at Gettysburg 1863 with action at Little Round Top and Culps Hill. Tomorrow will be Pickett's charge. General Lee's biggest mistake IMHO.
later,
SPMan
Hey guys, I survived Chuck-E-Cheese! Oh the things we endure for our kids. We had the sleep over and then the kids stayed till just a few minutes ago. Not a whole lot of sleep was had and so we are going to get to bed early tonight.
Doug we are planning a future trip to China for the aforementioned adoption, but may plan to get some visiting in and a nice train ride. With any luck, they may still have some steam around!
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, and by all means, honor those who pay the price for our freedom.
