Good evening everyone.  Another late night.  Jack, thanks for the all-inclusive posts you make so I can be sure to catch up on all the other posts when I reply.  Short of a split screen, I find it hard to recall all the goings on of our friends here.  That is a great story of the little boy on his way to conquering his fear of dogs.  Let's hope the results continue.
Brent, still keeping you and Susie Q in prayer.  Also saying a prayer for the birth mother and that all goes well.  Found out that the girl we were looking to adopt from had a roll-over accident.  She is OK, but a bit bloody and battered.  She wants to keep the baby, I just hope she has turned her life around enough to be a good mother.
SJ, sorry to hear about your grandson.  Glad that it wasn't any worse.
Well, today wasn't too bad.  Did run into the son of one of the patients we did as an emergency.  He and his family are very appreciative.  I was whooped later in the afternoon and while I was semi-conscious in the surgeon's lounge, Cool Hand Luke was on ION channel.  Watched about the whole movie...a classic.  As other guys would walk in, they would pick right up with the lines to follow.  I finally got home with a possible call back hanging over my head.  Had some late dinner and then I installed a new Epson printer.  Was very easy as it is wireless and will work with all the computers we have.  I can imagine that we will find our daughter and son printing out any little thing that they come across and we will have reams of paper used along with the ink...Hmm perhaps I should put a password on the printer????

Chief, I used to be a Yankee fan way back.  That was until they all went out on strike.  Now I will watch college or minor leagues, rarely a MLB.  My mother used to work on a childhood cancer board along with Mr. Michaels and other Yankees players/mgt.  We got to go to several games and sat right behind the dugout.  We also got to hang out with some of the New York Giants football players, but then my mom retired from the board.

Well, the rest of the family is down for the night...time for me to head that way too.  Hope each of you have a great night and rest of the week.  I will mention all Y'all in prayer tonight.
God Bless,
Dennis

PS: Jim, I will get that address to you.

Cooler and cloudy today with some thunder showers this morining.

The UP must be having some flooding problems somewhere.  They are routing east bound freight trains through town.  Normally, the only eastbound trains are Amtrack.

I was casting about on the International Model Powerboat Association web site recently and noticed that one of my old model boat racing buddies is now president.  Sent him an congratulatory e-mail.

I went and spectated at the dirt track last Saturday.  With my friend not racing his car this year, I find myself missing the weekly outing and pit work there.  I seem to be getting an itch to be involved in racing something.

Picked up my goodies from the LHS Tuesday - a 4 pack of Lionel automobiles.

Prayers for those in need.

All for now.

Good morning all,

Hi GUYZ,

Not to bad here today to get to 80 with t storms.  No GOLF last nite had a few big storms that dumped some rain so just went down WAYNEs for chicken wrap and a few YUENGs.  Ran a nice easy 2.5 miler this morning.

CHUCK & BUCKEYE TGIF!!!!

JACK nice story on the boy and the dogs.

YANKERS got beat by my buddies team, da RAYS.  JOE MADDON their manager and I played HS football together, he was our quarterback.  In the late 70s, before traincamps opened, we worked togther in a juvenile detention center.  I used to give him rides home after work cause he didn't have a car.  Over Christmas met up and talked with him for ten minutes, he remembers all those times.  Hope he continues to beat those YANKERs.

Stay frosty and watch your topknot,

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Cloudy and 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Lightning rocked some parts of our region last night.  Looks like more unhappiness heading in from the SNOHIZO valley for later today...and I'll be working on the water, so better grab my foulies.

Mornin' fellas and gals:     Sunny and warm here.  SP man; For summer reading i recommend " My Wicked Wicked Ways"; an autobiograify by Erroll Flynn, one of my favorites. His life is more astounding than any picture he ever made. Check it out. Most enjoyable read.  Thumbs Up   Sir James; hope the boy is doing better, broke my arm on the last day of school, took the cast off the day before i went back! No fun, that's fer sure; that's fer dang sure!   Sad   Chief; Now that you came out of the "closet" and fessed up to your dark side i can no longer vote for you; besides only a Bronx bum fan would give out rubber checks!  What an emotional roller coaster you must be on!  A true southern gentleman ( not ) rootin' for the epicenter of nawthern arrogance!  I could take a lot, but now my stomach is churning with bile!   Bang Head   I am totally crushed; and here i am asking for donations for your re-election! Just have to put in the poor box on Sunday.  Angry   Jack;  Computer glitch is my fault; see, this is what happens when you don't get out of the third grade!   Dunce   Jim;  Be careful, seen this before; you might be swimming with sharks!  Surprise   Doug;   Chi town ain't got nothing on Joisey, i read somewhere that Joisey has the most incarcerated politically convicted felons in the U.S.  Take that!   See, Joisey is #1 not only in super fund sites but in political corruption as well!     Laugh      later.

Good morning all,

Watched last space shuttle depart this AM from the cape.  Seems like a sad day for America.  I hope there is something in the works to keep us in space.  I'm not crazy about depending on our Russian counterparts for rides to the space station.  Anyway, I saw the first and the last and a lot of launches in between.

I have a choice this weekend of either attending Sunday brunch with friends after church or go to a train meet.  Kind of leaning toward the brunch.  Summer train meets are not always well attended and merchandise is less than cooler months.

Dennis, sorry that your prospective adoption is not working out.  More will be revealed down the road I'm sure.

No Thursday night get together for trains last night.  Too hot!

Had dinner out with #2 son last night.  Great meal with pork chop, mashed sweet potato and baked apple slices preceeded by a nice salad and desert was peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

My son is off on another trip this weekend to Northern California to see car race and do some railfanning on Donner Pass with overnight in Reno.  Back next Tuesday.  Wife and I can be lazy and not cook much this weekend.

later,

Ray

Hello all,

Finally got some rain here 0.4 inch on Wednesday and 0.5 inch today. Not much but very welcome. It was the first measurable rain here since first week of  June. Storms passed less than 1/4 mile away and we got no rain. Crops, Garden & Yard (weeds Included) grew noticeably today.

Mom passed a cardiac stress test today and was given green light for radiation treatment. First one scheduled for July 19.

Looks like Mrs & I will have to postpone our trip to the Beach as Mom is scheduled for two treatments that week. I am going to see if I can get a camp site now.

Good Evening

79 now, sun all day.

Grandson is having surgery on his arm in the morning. They can't get one of the bones to align so they are going to put pins in both of them. They are also adding a long rod that I assume will keep the bone straight. He'll be 9 this month so a kid that age will probably heal fast. I ran 1 train today just so I could tell you guys I did something.lol  Banilla is ready...S.J.

         How so?

DougM,

Regarding that chance to shine, we had a power outage for at least an hour today, and one of the higher ups congratulated us for getting things back to normal in a timely manner.

Banks,

Good luck trying to get a site.  That can be a challenge.  I'll be on my way there Sunday, and I hope to get into Berlin on Tuesday for the first pass.Smile, Wink & Grin

Hi GUYZ,

Nice and cool today.  Ran an easy 2miler this morning in the fog.  Maybe trout fishing later today?  Hope to get to 100 trout for the season for  me and BRO if we go.  Needed a train fix so ran trains last nite for a hour and a half, NO PILE UPs.

BANKS yes we got that same rain today about a half inch, garden liked it so did the weeds.

SIR JAMES get that kid drinking more milk.  Build up those bones with those dairy products, he won't need pins.

A Late Good Morning

Good news for little Jesse, they got him in OR,,Doc looked some more,, broke and reset the problem bone, it line up and so no surgery. Thanks to all for the kind words and prayers. Now for my morning lol. 3 new shades, 6 brackets, 12 screws. Sounds simple enough if the house is new. Ah, but, a not new house has old holes in the walls. Charlie and I flew the Tardis alone again last night, the crew seems to have gone AWOL..S.J.

Mornin' fellas and gals:     Warm and sunny here.   Granddaughter #2 is twelve today. Gonna celebrate with them later in the pm, might even get in the some pool time!    Yes      Hey Jim;   It has been my experience when young blood joins the cadre, there is always a sense of apprehension on the part of the people that have been there a while.  Maybe the fella felt threatened by your ability or he might have seen the writing on the wall; given a slight nudge by the upper mgt.  Whatever the reason, your ability i'm sure is noticed because talented people are always in demand regardless of current economic conditions. Being at the right place at the right time doesn't hurt either.  Just be yourself and have big ears and a small mouth; unlike me that has a BIG MOUTH!    Laugh   The cream always rises to the top. I'm sure you will do well in whatever you decide to do.   From the little i have read in your posts, if half of what you say is true, you'll be just fine.         later.

Afternoon all . took wife to flea market and a few thrift stores as she wanted to find some chairs for the kitchen table didn't like the ones we had. ( they didn't match) Well we don't use them either I normally eat at desk and she eats in living room in front of TV.

Well got the rest of my parts in to convert my PB-1 over to tmcc ( lights & couplers ) at this point. found great place for the switch even thou I could of gone to what they call a soft command I rather have the switch and its barely noticeable Will post pics later when I get some I like took some a few ago but didn't like them kinda fuzzy but the switch is blended in good unless your acually looking for it. I'm getting good at doing this. Smile I know brag and see what happens not really trying to brag just making a comment. I'm getting where I enjoy doing them.

Not much else going on will talk to you all later

SJ was there on the thingy night before last saw you cutting out just as I was getting on so we missed by about 10 seconds lol

Afternoon all.  Hot and humid.  May not get more rain today.  Went to pond and shot turtles this AM.  There are so many no one can fish.  Going to pick garden and then pack up for a coyote shoot.  Going to neighbor's back fields and woods.  They have been seen there a lot.  Need to find where the guy who is shooting deer for him [with permit, eating his soybeans] has just shot one.  As fast as he shoots them, the coyotes drag them off.

Chief,  I didn't know they had coyotes back there.  I just thought they were out West.  They must have migrated to your neck of the woods since I left.  Too bad all that venison is feeding coyotes instead of people..

Maybe you can start a turtle round up like they do with rattle snakes.  How big are these turtles?  Are they the kind that they make terapin soup out of?  I never had any but hear it's a delicacy.

Finally made up my mind to go to the brunch tomorrow and skip the train meet this time.  Next month is our annual picnic at the train club.  Maybe I will go to that.  The place where they hold it (L.A. Live Steamers) in Griffith Park also has a barn that once belonged to Walt Disney that was the shop for his outdoor railroad at home.  I would like to see that.  Walt ran a 1 l/2 inch scale steam locomotive around his home in Homby Hills, California.  He called it the Carolwood Pacific after the street he lived on.

Have a good weekend all,

Ray

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 90.  Chief, shooting turtles???  Oh, man, I would have thought I died and gone to heaven if I had one in my back yard.   Different areas, different pests.  Rousted a nest of rabbits while mowing today.  The mower got one by accident and I could not catch the other two.  Maybe tomorrow.  Huge shocker in World Cup today.  Japan defeated Germany in extra time 1-0.  If, and that is a big IF, the US can get past Brazil tomorrow, they could have a relatively easy path to another championship.  Team Red swept the top 3 spots in qualifying for tomorrow's race.  Vitor is starting 14th for AJ.  Swiss Miss is gridded ahead of Princess..  Spent whole day doing yard work.  Younger daughter and grandson came up for a visit as well.  It was a good day.  I had a bran muffin on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  Don't want people to feel lonely on the trip.  No loopdeloops, though.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening everyone.  Had gotten called in again last night.  Finished up about midnight.  This has certainly been one of those weeks you would rather not have.  Looking forward to Monday morning when I hand off to the next guy for call.  Slept a little late this morning and then got some things done.  Had to replace the headlight in my car and then run the truck for a little bit as it has sat for several months.  I will be dropping the car off Monday afternoon for type A service and a few odds and ends, so I need the truck to be running well.

Also got some photos I took at the Grand Canyon loaded on disk as I need to do some tweaking and make them "publishable".  Will be working with a professional photographer.

Regarding coyotes, they brought them back east to use for fox hunting, but they missed a few and now we deal with the consequences.  We used to have a lot more quail and bobcats here, but the coyotes have done a number on them.  With regard to the venison, a farm-hunting permit allows for year round dispatching of deer, but you can only harvest them for meat during regular hunting season.  With all the parasites, you wouldn't want the meat now anyway.

Have to run.  Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday and week ahead.
Dennis
