Mornin' Fellas.Been thinking alot about the car wreck... what I came up with is this.No one understands why these things happen. No one knows what took place in the boy's life prior to that fateful evening. His father probably felt that he raised his son well enough to know not to do something like that. No on knows what was going on inside the car either. Were the others prodding him on? Were they telling him to slow down? We'll never know. We stand on the sidelines making assumptions based on our upbringing, our past experiences, etc, we we simply don't know what really happened. Is the father to blame for purchasing the car? No. Is the Law to blame for allowing young drivers to haul young passengers without someone over the age of 21 in the car? No. A poor decision was made and that is all that needs to be said. No matter what we show our kids, tell our kids, it is up to them to make the wise decisions in their lives, some learn, some don't, it is how it has always been and will continue to be till end of our race.Going to be a scorcher in the Mid-Atlantic today!JT - congrats on the job! Having a job that you look forward to going to everyday is a gem in-and-of itself!
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

Aloha. Rainy stormy overnight. Everything sent off to SJ and Mike C. Finally think got the a/c working and the temp drops to low 70s. LOL. Took the engine out and refilled an oil reservior (dry). Now it at least cycles the fan. Geez, did i mention it's practically brand-new yet out of warranty. Ah well. The bride is cool and that's all that matters. Ran trains in the cool basement - the MTH coal elevator is so cool - especially with the black shiny aquarium gravel. Thanks for the ideas about using that! Remembering those families at the funerals today.

Hi everyone! Been away from reading the pot for a bit but not from thinking about it.
Wow! Alot has happened, as it took pages and pages to catch up. Took today off from my main job as I hadn't taken a vacation day yet this year.
My bit on kids and cars if I may. More often than not kids and speed don't mix. My first was a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. It was a v8 running on about 5 1/2 cylinders. What a tank! To cross the highway from a start I put it in first gear (it had an automatic transmission). Never got a speeding ticket with it. One of my friends had a FAST Dodge Charger. He loved speed. One day he took it out alone on an open road and as he crossed the railroad tracks he bottomed out and the car exploded. He never made it, died instantly.
I realize we raise them the best we can but sometimes we need to guide them and help with their decisions .
Chief - I've read all the responses to what happened and I couldn't have said it any better. It's nice to see how the town has responded. Great community!
Jack - You were lucky to have the father you did! And by the way...Get out of the Bronx!!!!
Joe - I was at Monday nights game. It's hard to enjoy yourself when we're down by so much after the first inning and it doesn't get better real soon. We have another game this Sunday against Chuck's Indians and then on Tuesday also against that team from Texas! We are by far from playing up to our capabilities.
Chuck - Sorry to see your team comming back to earth. But you're still in first place. You had it nice for awhile and maybe they can get back to playing good ball soon.
Roy - Great news to hear about your anniversary! Marriage and raising children are the hardest and most rewarding things we do in life!
Laz - I don't recall ever getting out from school this early. Am I missing something here?
HudsonJohn - Nice job you and my sis did with my nephew. Congratulations on his graduation!

Good morning all,
Traindood - You're wife is right about the oil breaking apart and not tasting good if it gets too hot. We don't let it get too hot and as you said, it is a very quick fry - just enough to get the browned crust. My wife does most of the cooking so I do as you do too: I eat what's on the plate.
Jack/AF Ray - The Yankees obviously did not get my memo about beating those Sox. They are scoring runs, but unfortunately the pitching stinks.
SJ - Only a sneaky Reb would do that.
Good day,
Joe
Lunch Time,
A real scorcher today, the temps may hit 101.
AF53, Ray, Central had it's last day yesterday. Michele says that they are finishing about the same next year. they shortened up the "Time off" during the year.
My son graduated High school last night. Nice short ceremony. It was done within an hour. It was so hot that the Yankee Mayor just congratulated them and wished them luck.
SJ: Nice sneaky Reb attack.
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need. Special concern for the accident victims and their families and friends.
John
On lunch break - looks and feels like it's going to rain here. We've been dry for a few days, so okay. Doug - that's always the way it turns out, fix something and you don't need it (as much) as when it was broken! Fran has gallstones and a hiatal hernia. Talking to surgeon today - glad it's something they can fix easily. Wife had dermatology appointment yesterday and they did a biopsy on her forehead. SJ - I guess your wife had to leave the house after she tried to feed you GRITS!!! Let her back in when it's time to cook dinner, okay? Chuck - There is no U in BTTS! U are in OTTS! Laz - good luck with double secret probation
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Chief, prayers for the community through the funerals.
That clip of Mr. Grizzard sounded like Ted Turner a little. Sonny Bubba, although I understood him, would be a stretch for some folks in the North.
Another PT session today. Got to tell them to take it easy. I can't take another beating today.
Traindood, Canola oil is best. I tried cooking some of that eggplant yesterday with breadcrumbs in eggwash. Turned out nice but DIL and I ate em all before I went any further with the receipe. Still have it though. Good luck with your plumbing. I just passed a kidney stone recently. That was a relief.

Ray...Half the fun of PT is the pain. I used to love to scream outloud. It's a good thing I had a lovely therapist....
Hey Chuck! I think you found your thrill "not" on blueberry hill!!!
Afternoon All.
June gloom hanging tuff again today, no sunshine yet.
Need some ideas here. The munchkin will be here this weekend and we were going to make some "old school" trees using pine cones. Trouble is the old geezer here can't remember how and what we used as kids. The munchkin is only 5+ so we can't use rattle cans or an airbrush so what would be the best paint and type of brushes to use?
I thought a BTTS was a bacon, double tomatoe and hold the lettuce sandwich.
RT & Chief, Loved the clip.
Later all.

But came across that last night as was listening to Jerry Clower on you tube always did love his tales they were great.

Brent,
Thanks. I really lucked out on this one. Also have a new level of respect for IT people after what we've been going through fighting a virus since last Thursday.
On this whole car discussion, I think that a trip through a salvage yard should be a mandatory part of driver's ed. Seeing mangled cars with bloody interiors is something that stays with you and makes you think twice while on the road.
Some of the videos I've seen on YouTube made me almost want to not drive as well. Form a nice 90-92 Probe GT one second to a car that is unrecognizable from the rear quarters forward the next second or the GM J Body crash test that shows the driver's floorpan going upward into the lower dash left me uneasy.

Same thing from the interior of runs 1&3: This is slighly less painful since it doesn't have Kasey Chambers' Barricades & Brickwalls audio that the previous version did.

Chuck, you were lucky, my thearpist don't look like that but they are nice people.
Buckeye, I have had quite a few kidney stones but not so many in one year. Maybe we could start a new kidney stone club but don't think anybody would join.
Therapy was not as bad today as last time. Sparkletts water guy left me two big 5 gal bottles right by my front door even though they have standing instructions to leave them in the rear at a designated place. This is not the first time this has happened. I can't move them in my present condition and will have to get my son to do it. Water man did not pick up Mtys either. I called the office for the second time and they assured me that they have the standing instructions for delivery. Guess the guy can't read or is brain dead. OK, I just looked outside and the guy must have come back. He did move them to the back of the house but did not put them where they go and did not pick up Mtys and did not knock on door per written instructions. Strike three! I give up.
SPMan.......Two years ago I rushed to the hospital in a lot of pain from a stone. They hooked me up to the plastic bags and later I felt the need to approach the throne. The stone passed and I caught it in the strainer. I gave it to the nurse who held it up to the light and said, "I'm impressed!"

Temp dropped this afternoon, turned off the AC and opened the windows. Banilla is ready, youz guyz in Ohio keep that reb out, he's sneekin through the lines..S.J.
Good evening all,
I don't have much to report tonight. The wife made another outstanding meal: lemon chicken skewers, couscous, and spinach salad with feta and fresh berries. Some thunderstorms briefly rolled in – of course I just watered the flowerbeds and lawn 30 minutes prior. I read with the kids for a little while before putting them to bed, but didn't do anything else exciting or run any trains.
The Yankees are up 2-0 on the Sox after three innings. I hope they win this game so it is not a sweep.
