HAPPY BIRTHDAY SJ
John
Good morning all (at least for 10 more minutes),
Last night's farewell dinner lasted way too long - over three hours. I was completely bushed afterwards so I came home and went directly to bed. Today I attended a Change of Command ceremony; thankfully it was only 45 minutes long. Now I will be chained to my desk to complete a countless number of tasks before starting the weekend.
Traindood/Dennis - Yes, I am completely off my rocker with my financial guidelines. However, I do know one day I will not be a burden to my kids or society. Yes, the younger generations are very smart and have so many ways to become smarter. We older folks need to properly teach and encourage them. I make way too much sense to ever be a politician, plus I don't send out....never mind, I won't go there.
Traindood/AF Ray - When the Yankees with the pennant this year AF Ray and I are going to send Traindood a Yankees shirt.
Happy Birthday SJ!
Good day,
Joe
Good morning all,
Happy birthday S.J. from another over 70 formumite.
Train buddies were no shows last night but did entertain neighbors yesterday afternoon with trains. Only one crash which was a sideswipe with two trains trying to enter one switch from a siding while trying to run 4 trains on two tracks.
Doug, don't forget, there are two more old codgers in So. Cal. besides you.
Getting ready for late breakfast account slept late. Might try oatmeal and soft boiled eggs, sorry Chief no grits today. It just seemed like an oatmeal morning with a little drizzle outside.
#1 son due home today from Dallas business trip.
#2 son departs tomorrow for railfanning the midwest. Have to take him to the airport.
later,

Afternoon all. Early morning light down the throat IG exam. Sure was a pretty nurse that put me under [better looking than Dennis W.]. Told me not to drive, sign documents nor work for 24. Told me to rest. After taking wifey out for a brunch, go to Lowes and buy plants and go to Kroger in WF [that is closing] and buying Father's Day cook'n's, I am now home. Doesn't sound like rest to me.
Got a Facebook [who I do not pay much attention too] message that SJ has a birthday today. [now that the CTT server has melted]
No rain [but was forecasted] so starting soaker hoses.
Steel scope mount came for M1A [M14] today. Will get it mounted and ready to zero.
Later.

HudsonJohn - When the Electric Company loses power......Who do they call????? Also I think Cathy would give up her car, but that would be VERY expensive!!
SJ - Happy Birthday!! [bday!!!!
DougM - Round one to the Cubbies. I always thought Wrigley was a nice place for a game. When did they turn on the lights 1985 or so. I remember watching that game. Quite a unique place.
Traindood - Ah yes... but would you be bold enough to wear the Yankee shirt JoeD and I send you?

Good evening everyone. Another long day, and hopefully it is at an end. So far, everyone is doing well, but an emergency could be right around the corner. I think that will be what I look forward to retirement for...the day I am no longer on call!
Chief, Hope the EGD came out well. Best sleep I ever got was while having the scope. The free meals aren't getting to you, are they? Regarding the person putting you to sleep, I am sure she was much prettier than I...I ain't one for looks, I just married one who has them!
Doug, we had a friend who had both sides of their car dented...my dad asked if the drove by Braille? At least no one was hurt. Another one of those lessons that cost some, but could have been a lot worse.
Happy Birthday, Sir James! Hope it is a good one for you.
Well, we had lots of rain over the last couple of days. It is much needed. They have had some forest fires around here. Last Sunday, we had a good size one down the road, but they were able to contain it fast.
I had better get to sleep as I have to do rounds early. With any luck, it will be a quick in and then home. Wife is bringing the kids to her Dad's house for celebration of Father's Day. Then, they will come home so we can do the same.
God Bless,Dennis

It was a very nice day, Thanks to all for the birthday wish's. All of our little family were here for burnt offerings from the grill. I've had my banilla and 1 Krispy Kreme with candle. No I didn't eat the candle. I had a date with my grandsons GF but the deal fell through when she found out 11 pm was my bed time. Fire up the thingy and come on by Banilla and root beer are on me tonight...S.J.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Partly sunny and low 90's today.
Happy birthday, SJ.
One of the 'futuristic' items in The Queen of Outer Space were the Venuition video screens - they looked like the modern flat screen TV's. Another case of science fiction predicting the future.
All for now.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Overcast and 69 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Fifelings are finished school, middle princess is back from senior week at Ocean, fifepup starts his new job (Starbucks/Safeway) on Monday, and I did another shift at the Marine Unit. All is well.
SirJames - Wow! With all those candles we could have played a night game. Come to think of it, didn't see any bugs yesterday evening either....
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 82 today with a chance of rain.
Today is a busy day. I have chores to do and a project to finish. Nascar race today. Baseball game tonite.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Good morning everyone. Back from doing rounds already. Now to just stay away from the hospital. Got back in time to visit with the family before they head out. Passed by the NS yard here on the way to and from the hospital...no activity, in fact, no trains at all. Yesterday, I saw a very long grain train with new NS hoppers, it was a nice site.
If things are quiet today, I hope to do a little scenery on the layout and then head to the sports park in preparation for the wedding this evening. I will need some bug repellent to keep the gnats away.
Hope everyone has a great day.Dennis
Morning all. Going to Miss Edna's [Todd's Train Depot] with squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. Then big Fathers' Day bash here. Chicken, ham, shrimp, mussels, corn on the cob, new potatoes, deserts and more. FIL, wife's family [the herd], Frankie, his GF and son and Cathy [oldest] will be here. Later.
Good morning
sun going to low 80s.
Brutus no train gifts, old james buys enough. Got summer clothes as requested. A graduation party this afternoon, tis the season for handing out envelopes. Have a great Saturday...S.J.
With all those candles burning, I'll get blamed for global warming.
Traindood - Ahhhh, but that picture would be priceless!!
Afternoon all!
103 here. Constantly windy (25-30) which is getting a bit boring since it has been going nearly non-stop for weeks with only a slight break last weekend.
Was out of town for the week - got in very late Thursday night (actually very early Friday morning), so have been in a daze for last day or so.
Chief and Traindood - not sure what to tell you with the buzzing. The buzzing itself is caused by the chopped sine wave from the modern ZW controller (same for a CW-80). At lower voltages the chopping is very pronounced and as you go to max voltage - very little chop remains in the sine wave so the buzzing ceases. When you removed the light bulbs you broke the circuit in the passenger cars so the buzzing stopped. I am not familiar with those cars and even though they had 14 volt bulbs (vs 18), I am assuming there is no other circuitry between the wheels and rollers and the bulbs so there is no electronic circuit to create the buzzing. I have had instances where poor electrical contact can cause a noise such as this. The close gaps of the axles in the wheels can create a spark gap. At low voltage the pronounced chopped since wave is a pulsed voltage and can create buzzing noises when placed across such a gap. I would try some Labelle 108 or Wahl clipper oil. Both are conductive. The conductive oil on the bearings of the passenger car axles, wheels, and rollers will improve the electrical conductivity. It would be interesting to hear if that resolves the issue.
SJ -
Going to dinner with some friends tonight. Fathers day lunch tomorrow. Asked the clan to keep it low key so I think we are going to one of my favorite burger joints. Doing lunch as daughter has to work.
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy
Good Evening
Sun and 80s today, graduation party was the usual food stuff. I have Banilla and root beer for the Tardis crew so come on by.
S.J.
Good evening all,
Lousy day. Mowed both yards and found out my three favorite teams all created a vacuum in qualifying for Milwaukee. I hope every one has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Sunny and about 90 today.
Attended an automotive swap meet at the fairgrounds today. Didn't find anything I needed, though there were some tempting projects - a 1963 Studebaker pickup, a 1957 Chevy wagon, a 1951 four door Chevy. There was a1967 Mustang convertable there that had a factory bench seat. I didn't know that bench seats were ever offered in Mustangs, though being built on the same platform as the Falcon, I guess it would be possible.
Evenin All.
Veg-out day today, yesterday was runnnnnn from pre-dawn til well past sunset. It was pretty much a packed house all day, schools out.
A bit late as usual but SJ, and many more to come cheers.

Howdy guys - nice chat with SJ, Doug and Charlie tonight. We did the Father's Day celebration today to beat the rush. Checked out a new train store here in Saint Louis. They had a lot of prewar Lionel and some MPC and a little modern stuff. Went out for an early dinner and got a steak and baked potato, which were both very good.
Q of OS is a great old movie - love the eggs at the end I watched Monsters on netflix tonight. It was a low budget sci fi movie about extra-terestrial creatures infesting South America after a space probe crash. I recommend it very much!
TARDIS is warmed up and loaded with goodies, so let's get a move on
It's about 1am here and had a long day. Went to work and came home to cut the grass but on the way home stopped off to buy stuff for dinner for today and BBQ for tomorrow. Watched the Yanks take game #2 from the Cubbies. Will spend the day tomorrow at the inlaws for the BBQ.
Just heard about Clarence Clemons passing today after a stroke earlier this week. For those who might not know of him he was a member of the E Street Band that played for Bruce Springsteen for decades. I was lucky enough to see them a couple of years ago, what a show! 3 Hours long!
Well thats about it, so everyone enjoy the day on Sunday.
Happy Fathers Day!
Happy Father's day to All...........
It's a foggy 72 degrees. Rained last night. Going up to 84 today with more rain.
Today is an easy day. I plan on watching the Nascar race and ballgame this afternoon. That should be fun.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
