Aloha. Sending rain and cold your way SJ. You can thank me later. Ran the trains last night. Thomas has started noisily 'slipping' - sounds horrible when it happens like all his gears just stripped - I think it's a combination of the elevation changes on the layout and pulling too heavy a train - I'm not going to ask him to pull more than Annie and Clarabell for the time being.

Good mornin' ya'll from sunny Taxachusetts. The rain and clouds have moved off the coast, and we are temporarily experiencing beautiful weather with temps in the high 60s for the day.
Laz......do you have to have a license of some sort to be an engineer on these tours? I have the theme song of Gilligan's Island filling my head.
Brutus......that was great news on Char. Yes, she is aggravated. But aggravated wives are determined wives.
JimmyT.......I agree with all of the advice that has been posted here. Another thing that dovetails off of what Dennis recommended......some car washes recycle their water which means that in the Winter your car is getting washed with water contaminated by all the corrosion-causing road chemicals used to treat ice and snow. Ask the ones you frequent. Also, if you can keep the Mustang GT garaged when not in use, that would be great, protecting it from the elements like sun, tree sap, and bird droppings. Short of a garage or a carport, a quality car cover is a must.
MikeC.......you must be so happy that you get to play alongside your son. How many of us can say we ever got to do that?
Chief......the reason that McDonald's does not serve grits is because they are concerned their establishments will be overrun each morning with masons, pavers, and dry wall contractors looking for some raw materials on their way to work.
HudsonJohn, RT, DougM, Dennis, and all..........depending upon whose news account you read about the crash, the Liberty Foundation (FL.) B17 had been recently serviced for a fuel leak. A spotter plane and the pilot noted an engine fire (pilot's side). The pilot turned around but decided the plane could not safely make it back to the Aurora IL airport, and he set it down in a field. All 7 people on board made it out safely with one bumping his head on the way off the downed aircraft.
On a related note, the Collings Foundation out of Ohio (?) has a website and brings a B17 Flying fortress and a B24 Liberator to my hometown airport every September, along with other vintage WWII aircraft. Last year a P51 Mustang joined their ranks. Many moons ago when I took my son to see them we got to meet a WWII Air Corp veteran who had crewed on a European theater B17. We and so many others got to shake his hand and thank him for his service. He was in tears, memories I suppose. And he didn't have the $ to go for a tour ride. The Collings Foundation folks put him on the B17 for the next flight tour.

Chuck, SJ, and Laz.........re the Tribe and the Tigers, being on top of the division or close to it 40% + through the season is a good thing. Better yet, if the Yankees don't qualify for the AL Wild card for the playoffs.
8N........I read somewhere that walking is good PT for knee replacement patients. If you truly loved your wife you would let her do the lawn mowing.
Game 7 for the Stanley Cup and all of the marbles on tap for tonight. The Boston Bruins CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!
Later, gang.

traindood Mornin': Swell day here today...... Got heating oil today 3.50 a gal. Says i got a good price! Going up 17 cents a gal. next week! YIKES! Glad i resisted buying a second car. Can't imagaine how the young parents make ends meet. I tell my own kids to stop spending so much money, you're goona need it. But, what do I know? later.
Amen, traindood. My heating fuel oil company is very large, full service, but yet is not anywhere near the lowest priced company around. They show up very quickly in the Winter if I have a boiler issue. I got a quote of $4.05 per gallon this morning, down from $4.20 in April. But my oil company won't speculate where the fuel oil price is going over the summer months. They do have a 12 month price cap plan where you are guaranteed a ceiling price for a year, provided you PAY for an additional insurance fee to cover their costs should their acquisition price exceed the guaranteed cap price. Like DougM......weather-wise I am in that precious period during the year when no heat (heating oil) is needed and the daytime high temperatures do not require air conditioning (electricity), yet.
Gasoline prices locally here have flattened out at an available $3.59/gallon for regular 87 unleaded. That is a far cry from where they were a year ago at this time when the prices were $1.06 a gallon lower. JimmyT will have to keep his new (thirstier in a good way) 2007 Mustang GT garaged a bit this Summer. That, or hitch rides with 96PGT.
I have no more wiggle room for reducing our gasoline consumption and the associated expense.
I am employing every fuel saving tip I can, including using the car in the fleet with the best fuel mileage when I can and cutting down/consolidating trips out and about. Filling up in the early morning, tire pressure (up 4 psi), driving the speed limits and coasting into off ramps, driving/anticipating the traffic lights, clean air intake filter, no excess weight in the car, no excessive idling time, etc. My wife thinks I am an anal retentive moron.
I am exceeding the EPA estimated mileage figures for both my vehicles (city, highway, combined). But the fact of the matter is that, short of eventually getting rid of the cars we are driving in exchange for something more economical, I am stuck.
Jack
Morning all,
Another nice day on tap. Might just put some new trains on the layout. Not new, but new to the layout for a while.
Also do have to get back to work on doll house for GD #5.
A nice crowd at the RR Museum of PA yesterday. Next week should be a wild one as Thomas will be at the Strasburg RR across the street for 9 days starting on the 18th. I will be volunteering at the Museum on the 21st & 22nd so there will be lots of kids there those days.
traindood, I tell my kids the same, but to no avail.
Take care,
JACK,
No I do notm need a license to run this engine it is a narrow gauge anthracite fired steam engine that goes out about a mile then back. Here is a you tube video of one of our engineers (not me).

A beautiful fire breathing dragon, I love it.
A beautiful day in Michigan today. Just happens to be my anniversary, 9 years today. 9 years seems like a long time on a calendar, however when you consider everything that has happened in those 9 years it seems short to me.
Have a nice day guys.

Howdy All.
Beauty of a day today, trying to recover from the runnin' around.
Congrats to Charlie & Toni, may you many many more.
Spent yesterday at the county fair, unfortunately we sat in the truck stuck in traffic, entering & leaving(), than we did at the fair. Worst I ever saw. However Laz would have been proud of the high school woodworking display, I saw some extremely intricate and detailed furniture that would have made a custom shop proud to put their logo on. That was one of the few things worth visiting, everything else was pretty much the "Same Old Stuff". Think this was my last visit.
Brutus/Char, Better a small bump in recovery than a big bump although no bumps at all are in everyone's prayers.
RT, The "Gold Rush Set" is not the battery powered one, thank goodness. Still can't believe how pristeen this set was for $25, entry level but will earn it's keep when the kids run it.
Pickedup an engine on evilbay, looking forward to it's arrival. After a little bit of testing/breakin I think it will be the main motive power on my 4th of July Train.

ChiefEagles We do not go to McDonalds anymore because they threw us out for behaving badly and not wearing shoes. They offer great Northern oatmeal. We now only go to BoJangles because they have tastelss food and they offer SOUTHERN style grits in 55 gallon drums we use to repair the Interstate. Have a great day while I swat mosquitoes in the unbearable heat. Chiefie

I have been proof reading all day so I just continued when I hit the forum.
Laz......Mmmm, the train is running this year and I'm looking for a place to vaction in the North where the air is cool and clean.
Chuck....Have you been falling asleep in your coache's chair during the Indian's games?
TrainDude....I have some bad news for you. Please sit down. Baby Buckeye, SIL and Bouncing Baby Boy Buckeye are moving to your town. After looking at several places to live in NJ they picked your town because it was like Westerville, Ohio. Baby Buckeye has her own Polar Express Train Set and BBBB has a huge set of wooden Thomas.

Doug M,
Check Thomas's siderods. Lionel seemed to make them all pretty loosey-goosey on the Thomas & Friends locos. Sometimes ours will clatter so loud you'd think they were about to jam.
Buckeye..... I dozed off and suddenly woke up in my coaching chair. The Indians are leading 4 to 3.
Happy Anniversary..Charlie & Toni.
Jack,
I actually get better mileage with the Mustang than I did with the Sunfire. Right now, I am getting 16.4 MPG, and the Sunfire could only do 10-15 MPG at best (yes, you read that right). Ford also calls for 87 octane, so that is a plus. The only small downside is that I have to drive the Probe everyday, but it gets 30 MPG on a bad day. 35-40 isn't uncommon, and it is running the best it ever has for me at 189,897.
Ken,
I was going to try my steel toe boots thinking that my regular shoes were the problem, but it turns out that I was taking my foot off the clutch at the friction point. Tonight, I let the clutch out slowly and evenly until it was all the way out, and I did much better. Only stalled it once accidentally.
Good Evening
72 kind of overcast, but no rain yet.
We spent a few hours this morning shopping for things. On this trip I got some things for a change. A fresh supply of banilla is waiting for the thingy crew...S.J.
Good evening everyone. Been another long day and schedule calls for another tomorrow. While I am on call, they have a special request for me on the first case out of the door, so that means that I will be up and going at 0430. Due to the number of cases and the limited resources, it will make for a big day.
Traindood, have a great time at The Train-Station. I am friends with one of the owners. They certainly know their stuff and have plenty of it. They have a Father's Day special going on right now. Not sure if the warehouse is open, but on those days, you need lots of extra time to look around.
Well, after 105 degree temps today, we have a thunderstorm coming through and a good amount of much needed rain. Hope it lasts for a few hours. Also hope that I don't get called out in it. When I first logged on tonight, I checked out Bob's Train Box and WOW am I impressed by that new Lionel Vision Hudson. I may have to drop some serious coins down on one of those!
Time for bed. On a sad note, one of the guys I used to work with at the Fire Department died today. He was a great guy and will be missed. I last saw him at Mom's funeral. He was always there for folks.
God Bless,Dennis

Sunny and mid 80's today.
Chief - Shake & Bake got my back today, arranging for the wind to come out of the west, keeping those nasty old grits fumes east of the Mississippi, and south of the Ohio.
RI52 - I'll pass your therapy tip on to my wife - from a healthy (safe) distance.
Probe - you've got to add a touch of throttle when you reach the friction point on the clutch - a heavy touch if you want tire smoke!
Brutus - good news about Char.
All for now.
Happy Anniversary, Charlie and Toni! Nothing much going on here today. Had some computer updates and killed some zombies after work on xbox. Mike's driving tonight, I think I'll go to bed. Ciao!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
No time for too much tonight. Will catch up tomorrow. Just saw about "Happy Anniversay Charlie and Toni"
NICE!

Congrats Charlie and Toni [notice I toasted you more than Buckeye]
Worked in train room this afternoon and tonight [after returning from a meeting]. Got shelves up so I can store extra cars, engines and my new Amtrack set. Ran trains for three hours with no problems. Did notice a MTH thingy. Was close to my lashup of Legacy engines and remote kept saying check track, engine not on track but the engine responded to commands anyway. Once it backed about 4 feet away, all was fine. First time I've had that happen. Was also in back room as far away from TIU as could be.
Got early haircut and then A/C guy coming to service unit and see about an upstairs unit or a Honeywell duct control system.
Off to bed. [think I will ship 8N a train car, some know what I mean after car exchange ]

Evening,
Congrats Charlie and Toni !!!
June is my Dr month here, had a root canal on Monday, went to Neurologist Tuesday, to the Lab on Thursday for Bloodwork, then next week back to the Dentist, Primary Physcian, and Dermotologist. Glad when this is all over!
Tuesday, worked on the Dr's layout, disconnected all wiring and coiled it up at the item it controlled. Took 5 hours, hopefully it will go back together well. Will move the layout Thursday and Friday. Then start reconnecting everything next week, (between Dr appts.)
Did manage to get to the train club today. As I walked in a one guy was in the staging area trying to get a TMCC engine running. Problem was that the engine would just take off when power was applied. He and another guy was trying everything, reprogramming switching tracks, cycling power, to no avail. I asked if the engine had been involved in a collision, sure enough it had. And, the last time the engine was run was a week ago. I tried to get it going, no luck. Then suggested possibly a board may have come loose. So he started taking the cab off, to check. He had worked on it for a half hour trying to get it open. In the meantime I was putting my DCS on the track and it worked fine. About that time another guy came in and was having a similar problem. They thought maybe it wasn't the engine, and pulled a club owned engine out and it wouldn't work either. Seemed a little to strange to me, thought maybe the ground wire may have come loose off the Command Base, or Legacy Base. Went over to check, the Legacy remote couldn't find the base. Looking further found that the Power Strip that the Command Base and Legacy unit was plugged into had been turned off! Turned it on, had them try the engines again, and of course they all ran fine. Took the first guy an hour to get his engine put back together. Lots of frustration by everyone! Advantages of a club environment. Everything ran great for the rest of the day.
8ntruck, Glad I could be of some help!! Cooler weather is headed toward Bob and yourself. However, the jet-stream is carrying all the grits dust up to Michcigan, as I understand it from the Chief it will be welcome. Seems SJ has this secret clandestine attraction to the stuff, I was informed that he really liked them and they were part of his daily diet, but didn't want anyone to know. So need to keep it a secret, OK?
Looks like Buckey is extending his area of influence to include NJ. Or, maybe this maybe a flanking move, all I know is he runs a tight ship, and Chiefie may be in danger.
Hope everyone has a great day, be safe and healthy!
Don
Good morning all,
It may be rainy in SE Indiana today. Too much rain sogged the fields for last night's game. I guess they were afraid we would tear the fields up too much. Rested and did financial stuff. Good day at work. Good night driving the Tardis. I had the regular fare for breakfast on the dining before sending it to "Points East". TBIL after soccer scrimmage tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning,
Brutus, I wish Char the best with the rash.
RI Jack, Nice info on the B17. Thanks for sharing.
Charlie: Happy anniversary.
Jack / Traindood: Between the boat and the truck I do not know what is worse on gas.
Dennis: Condolences on the death of your friend.
Prayers for all in need.

HI GUYZ,
60 and nice here only ran a 2 miler this morning, now weights and then pull weeds. Later is GOLF that is why light workout, can't get stiff. Spend 4 hrs in dentest chair yesterday getting bridge, not a RR bridge either. WOW that was bad, I had to ask to get up and do a few laps in office to strech out. Came home and took dog for a 1.5 mile walk. I needed that.
BUCKEYE, on the Mt. across from the tracks are 125 wind mills, that is our breeze up there and sometimes when its hot they turn them on for us. So it will keep you nice and cool.
CHUCK, please take another nap tonite.
CHARLIE, CONGA!!!!! on Aniversery.
Stay frosty and watch your topknot,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

LAZ..Today the Indians play an afternoon game @ 1pm. It is not televised on the regular channel. You'll have to look for the right one. I hope they win again.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
