Busy day.  For all inquiring minds: Southern master baths [actually all Southern bathrooms] have a toilet to pee in.  I guess, unlike those up Nawth and in CA. Whistling

Good Evening All !!! a great day walking around the Rose Bowl today.  It was really huge!  Didn't buy much, but did find a lot of information, that may be very beneficial.

The way LA is dropping Pro Sports franchises, we may also be having swap meets at Dodger Stadium, and The Staples Center as well.   Can't believe the situation here it is utterly embarrassing!!!!!  And who said you shouldn't build a team around 1 player?

Did end up with a great dinner, ate a Steak House in LaVerne, called the Tenderloin.  Was really great!  (This place is near where Ray lives, thought about him, but didn't want to interfere with family.

While at the swap meet, saw a 2035 boiler, milk car without doors or trucks, a tender with one missing truck, and a small whole in the top corner, a caboose, and could get all this for only $175, since it was so rare and such an old antique!!!  I had to pass.

I wonder IF we could find some AAA teams or maybe even just AA??  Wait, we still have the Clippers,

Take Care

Well got boards carpeted starting to put track in place and rut rho something wasn't working on the wall closest to the house the track fit perfect ( the den her was added on to the house befor I bought it) but got to the opposite wall and it was too long so Out comes measuring tape yep the wall far side of room was 4" shorter than the wall next to the house so yep she had a real good contractor on this job. So thats something to consider when i build my O gauge layout as I was going to go wall to wall and 8' wide so that means a special cut for the one wall lol. one wall is exactly 16' the other is 16' 4" lol guess I should measure the side walls an see how they are in length lol. oh well so need to cut a little about 4" off of the one track to connect the curve where I want them and also need to add bout 3" each side to make it connect and track where I want it. Glad i have a couple of extra sections as I need the pins from them with having to add pieces lol and it gives me a section to cut

Now where did I put that dremel oh yeah I remember now.

Good evening guys.  Had a great morning at church, but my back is still hurting from handling camera duties.  Wife made lunch at the house, which was good.  Asked her where she would like to go for dinner, but she wants to go out for ice cream instead.

Mike, Yeah, I don't remember her name, she had long blond hair and a pretty smile and could certainly out drive me.  This was also when I didn't carry a camera, so I don't have anything but the memories of myself and the friends who saw me doing it.

Joe, So Folkson was worth it?  Sounds great.  If you want to head to Savannah for a great time, take in the Roundhouse Museum.  Also, there is a good pub style place on the Riverwalk.  I don't recall the name of the place, but you can see that the floor is down a ramp and they have a "Sports Bar" atmosphere.  My wife loves the seafood chowder there.  It is just down from the candy store.  If you want to visit "Bull Street Station", that mostly HO store I told you about, down the street is a British Pub called Six Pence Pub and they have a good bit of menu selections from "across the pond".

Hope each of you has a great week ahead and that everyone who is married with children remembered to take care of SWMBO.  When I gave my wife her presents, her first reaction was "You must be buying another train..."

God Bless,
Dennis

Happy Mother's Day to all,

Went to early mass today hoping to see and hear music associated with the May Crowning, laying a crown of flowers on the statue of Mary.  Did not know that this was the same mass for children making first communion and what seemed like a dozen other things on the agenda.  Service lasted 30 minutes overtime but it was nice.

Have not definetly decided exactly where to eat for Mother's Day but hopefully we can find a place.  Figured it would not be too bad between brunch and dinner somewhere.

Good luck to D.Baker at the swap meet.

Weather here is cloudy with drizzle early but not bad this afternoon.

later,

Ray

Strange that this post from earlier pasted again when I logged back on. So I am editing it out.

Just finished repainting the alcove the toilet sits in. While I had it out I repainted since I could easily access all the walls.

In between watching the Maverics attempt to shut out the Lakers. Halftime and a comfortable lead - but never count the Lakers out of anything. Wife is happy. She is reclining with a book and watching the game.

Sounds great Joe. been putting carpet on my shelf Layout. hey question if my shelf layout has carpet on it is it considered a Carpet central layout?Whistling

well got a phone call a bit ago and it said on the caller ID unavailable so that tells me solicitor so I answered "Nut House" the caller "Hello" I responded "nut house can I help you" he hung up Laugh told wife he hung up she laughed said well that works.

Of coarse in middle of doing the carpet on the boards the wife finally decides to empty hutch and move hutch to living room so guess who has to move hutch Whistling

Will talk to you all later hope to post some pics later in SPF of shelf layout. well figured I will need a 3" piece of track on both short sections of my loop to make it work which really isn't bad at all.

decided not to go with second loop but on the long sections raise a 1x4 about 3" and put a long train on it behind where the standard will go that way not have to worry about trying to run 2 trains around 7.25" of boards on curves (yes I would have to build and still do support for the standard gauge to go around the corners )

Good afternoon all,

It is a beautiful day today.  I went to the Folkston Funnel today.  I was able to spend about two hours there and during that time about six trains rolled through.  All were CSX freight trains transporting many different goods.  I shot some videos with my Flip Vid but I will not be able to upload them until I get back home to OK.  The Folkston Funnel is a great place to view trains and there were quite a few Railfans there today sharing the fun.  I may try to go again before I leave GA; I would like to go in the evening and see some passenger trains.  It may be difficult with the work schedule and Folkston is about an hour away.

That's all for now.

Happy Mothers Day to All.

My mom & dad, as well as bro, and sister & BIL with 4 yo nephew are headed here for dinner. Know I will have some train time with the little guy.  Hope the grilling goes OK, making grilled chicken with a vinegar based mopping sauce, potato salad, green beans, salad and rolls. Mint brownie pie and brownies with ice cream for dessert.

Still did not find a recliner.  Thought we found one and then it was $59 to deliver and $20 just to bring it to the store from the warehouse for pickup. All of a sudden the recliner that was a great bargain is not such a bargain.  Hope to find something soon.    Probably going to order one from a local furniture store.

Happy Mothers Day all!

All is well here. Cards and flowers are in place. Kids even came through without 15 reminders! Dinner tonight with the family. Seafood!

Just back from church. Sunny and very warm. Might hit 92-95 today? Humid. Rain predicted later this week. South of here the drought is badly affecting the farms.

Brutus - hope Char feels better soon! Hope she enjoys here camera.

Been working last 2 days fixing a toilet  in the master bath that came loose from base. Luckily the closet flange was not the problem. It is brass and leaded into the waste pipe. Took it all apart and cleaning everything up. Hope to get it back together today. This is one thing the wife will be happy to have as a Mothers Day present!

LAZ - sounds like good fun you guys had.

Have a great day all!

Got done with half a big truck load of mulch.  Got all the flower beds weeded and cut the grass.  Did the mulch in front of house now gotta wait for tulips to die for back of house.  Gotta hook up pumps for ponds today before going up to see MOM for MOTHERS DAY.

Went Trout fishing last nite from 530 to 8 and caught and released 10 mostly rainbows.  BRO did the same.  We had a blast then had fire and ate dogs and burgers and Ol Mils.  Slept well.

Worked 4 hours OT and then met wife and kids for lunch.  We went to a local camera store and she looked at some cameras for a while.  She finally picked a small Canon Elph 300 HS, which seems like an easy to use camera with some nice features.  We also got her an extended warranty, case, and memory card.  Tonight she has been sick, think it's something she ate.  Hope she feels better tomorrow.

Okay - we will have some banilla later.  Tardis is ready, so let's go.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hey you all !

Yea, I'm still around.  Been messing around not really getting much done on many things.  But, will continue trying.  DCS system at Glen's place has been driving me nuts.  Sending one TIU unit back to MTH, hopefully they will find something wrong with it.  Havn't seen much of Glen recently he has been busy and then not feeling real well also.

Did notice where Chief has put up a post with something about "Peeing in the Shower", I don't think I will even say anything about that..................!!

A friend introduced me to a new online Train shop that really looked good, called Grahams.  Bookmarked that one!

Not going to work tomorrow, (Mother's Day), so guess what we're doing........?  Right.. going to take MIL, FIL and Kay to a Swap Meet.   Going to go to the Swap Meet at the Rose Bowl.  It is primarily a antique show and completely encompasses the Rose Bowl.  Now if the weather holds it should be a good day.  (Chris is going also, then coming home and BBQ'ing.

Dont want to take up too much space.......

Happy Birthday for those that are near (past or future).

Prayers for ALL of Us!  (Hope health and weather stays favorable.)

Best Regards

Good evening all,

It was mostly dry in SE Indiana, but rainy now.  We did get the soccer games in today and I mowed dad's yard.  The high school show was notable in the attempt.  The execution was...., well, it was nice to see the plotline of the show.  I had the regular fare on the dining car.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

To comment on the pace car observations.  The pace car this year is a Camaro.  A J Foyt will be the replacement driver for Trump.  He was the first four time winner and it is the 50th anniversary of his first win.  It would be so appropriate if one of his cars won the race.  Dennis, that is pretty cool that you got to ride in the pace car.  I wonder if the driver was Ellen Mellencamp, the now ex-wife of John Mellencamp.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening all,

I haven't posted in a few days due the busy schedule out here in GA.  So far I have been able to stay out of trouble - I know these Rebs see me as a fast talking Yankee.  Laugh

I spent some time today doing laundry in the hotel and then watched the Kentucky Derby.  I may go have a beer at the pub across the street, but it is getting late.  I will try to find a church to attend tomorrow morning.

Good night,

Tired!!!!!!!  Painted master bath all day.  The little linen closet is narrow but deep with a space below for dirty clothes basket and then above are 4 shelves.  Long reaches and especially so when it got to ladder time.  All painted and ready to use.  Did take a break and mow my yard and the widow lady's down the street.  Good night.

Good evening everyone.  Currently watching some Disney videos with the kids and MIL.  Daughter had her ballet recital dress rehearsal today, so we all went.  She did great and I video taped it on my DSLR...Jack, I have a Nikon D90 which was the first DSLR to be able to do video.  It is able to do so as it has "Live View".  While I love this camera, it does have some limitations on the video end.  Once you focus, if your subject moves, the focus doesn't track.  You have to manually focus, or stop video and re-focus.  Since video is not too important to me, this camera is all I need.  Brutus, Jack mentioned about how easy these DSLRs are.  It is true, but they also allow you to grow with your camera skills.  The ability to add lenses to your repertoire allows for expanded ability.  The "Kit Lens" that comes with the camera is a "Vibration Reduction" lens which means that you can hand hold it with great results.  Also, it is 18-105mm, meaning that it is quite adaptable.  You can focus close, or take medium distance shots.  If video is important, I would not get the D90 for the reason's above, but I would certainly go for one of the newer models that have addressed those issues.  Also, the newer video modes allow for 1080, so you can have great quality HD video.

Wife is making brownies....YUM!  A little more family time and then its bed.  While I am not on camera (scheduled), I am sure they will need me somewhere.  Looking forward to services.  Recharge the old batteries.

Hope to check in at some point tomorrow.
God Bless,
Dennis

Well decieded to hold off on trimming till monday as off thru wednesday after ot tonight hope to get back to putting the carpet on the boards. for my shelf/ceiling layout now covering with green indoor/outdoor carpet I had gotten up at the auction house free about 2 years ago. The boards (all except one 12' piece which I bought about a month ago) are ones I used for shelves back about 3 years ago when first moved here and some actually came from TN with me where I was using them for a shelf layout there so all the material are recycled material even the brackets and some of the screw even lol the bracket screws that go into the boards are new bought them about 6 months But ones going into wall are from about 5 years ago and some are being recycled for about the 3rd time but 90% of the items here are all recycled lol

Good Mornin Ya'll From Sunny Taxachusetts,

A seasonal 62 right now with rain on tap for the rest of the weekend.  Spent a good six hours doing yardwork yesterday and the place is starting to look quite good, relatively speaking.  Thankfully, the rains have held off but will move in soon and put a damper on Mothers' Day.  I used a liquid Ortho weed control product with the garden hose yesterday, and I may squeak in under the "no rain or watering for the first 24 hours" instructions.  I abut wetlands, and the weed infestations are constant.  Got in some mulching and raking (dead spots) as well, and am now contemplating reseeding some dead spots spots, compliments of the dog.

Brutus........I have been looking at an SLR Nikon that does both still and video well.  Simplicity of use is important to me too, even if the camera is larger.  Don't forget to check out those camera menus and their ease of use to get to the important stuff.  My current 6 year old Sony still camera is fully automatic or manual......works great but is not so user friendly.  In my mind for the average user anything over 12 megapixels is a waste.  Don't forget to price out larger memory cards while you are at it, easpecially if you select a camera that shoots the longer video (not just clips) as well as stills.

Later, gang.
