Evening all!

Have been really busy the last few days so no time to catch up on posts.

Weather here has ben great. 75 today and sunny.

Hope all are well. Prayers for those that need them.

Now that he has a real job. Whistling

Sunny but chilly.  Cold front came through after the rain.  Warming back up.

Off to my anual prayer breakfast.  Today is the National Day of Prayer.  Can't make the anual prayer in the Main Street Park at noon.  Town Atty. is getting an award that I nominated her for.  Have to attend the luncheon for her award.

PAINTING new bath.  Almost finished. Big Smile  About time.

Been telling gun dealer buddy that there was a form for me to order M14 accessories at a discount in my M14 box.  He could not find it until yesterday.  Ordering mysteel gen 4 scope mount.  When I get it, will mount new scope and off to the range.  Finally brought the rifle home.  Field stripped it and cleaned it last night.  Brings back the memories.  Should be very accurate as it has a "national match" barrel.

Have a good one.

Good morning all,

May be dry in SE Indiana today.  Did a lot of honey-do last night.  No soccer.  Work went well.  Mitch, I hope you do get to Indy sometime.  The sight of the fastest 33 men and women in the world down the front stretch is a thrill one never forgets.  Dennis, an amen to your thoughts on driving.  All this talk of food on here just makes me hungry.  Regular fare on dining car.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello to all,

Just a quick check in.  Not much going on here. My meeting scheduled for last night was canceled so I got home a bit earlier.  Hectic days at work and no real slow down until the kiddos are gone June 17.

Need to get out and get to work in the yard but it was raining yesterday. Supposed to be drier today. IF the sun comes out and dries things up I will try to mow and trim tonight so I don't have to mess with it this weekend.

Better get moving, another exciting day ahead.

Jim - that's okay, I had my son block him/your acct and told him I was sure this is what happened. As I said, he got nervous when the guy said his name was X and I said your name was Y and ETC. Glad it was nothing, just a misunderstanding. Good luck on that interview - hope this is it for you!!!

Nothing much going on here - work is hectic and just glad to be employed I guess. No love there lately, but that is coming down from the top it seems.

I have to agree with you, Doug D G, except my gateman came a lot later than yours I think. I got a set of catalogs from Charlie Ro, so I'll order my halloween cars from him with my gift certs. Thanks a lot guys, you really were way too kind to me and my family. We sure appreciate it!

More rain and storms coming. I sprayed my front and side yard with mole repellent today after work, and all along the long hill in back. I have more, but you are supposed to do it in sections, working out from the house.

I need to get a few outdoors projects done asap while the ground is soft from the spring rains. I have some drain line to bury and a little retaining wall to build. I'll need some more bricks, but I already have like 20 of those 1 ft by 4 inch wall bricks from the last project I did. That should let me do the base layer and can then figure out what more I need. Oh - I'll need paver sand first too!

Nice chats with John and SJ and Charlie and Bill in the past 2 days.  Anybody interested in beaming up, just shoot me a PM with your yahoo messenger username any time!

TARDIS is ready so let's hit it guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

SJ,

I paid $3.99 for 87 today.  I didn't want to look at how much 93 was.

Brutus,

I will take care of that XBL situation.  Sorry if he offended you or your son.  I am very offended that he did that, and he will hear about it.

Hello everyone! Fill er up as gas prices approach $3.85. Ouch! I think we should raise the price per bushel of grain we export to those who sell us oil to match the price per barrel we buy from them!

Ray (SP) - Good luck tomorrow and hope this answers any questions they have about your knee.

Dennis - That's a real hard lesson which will follow those who survived forever! You can never expect any driver of doing what you think they should do, real sad.

Jack - I've never been to Margate but I did know someone who lived there and it sounds real nice. Good luck to your wife and son!

Joe - I'm booking my flight right now for tomorrows afternoon game. I think they need me!

John - I have some nice blue cars with a loco that came in the other day and soon the green ones will be here, maybe Thur or Fri.

Good Night!

Good evening everyone.  Bit out of it as I got called in last night and didn't get back till early AM and then back up and at it at 05:30.  Did get to take kids to school and then wife and I went to IHOP for breakfast before I had to head back in.  Did a fair amount of running around this afternoon with a number of patients to see.  I also got a call from a group in Tennessee that I will do some work for on occasion.  May shoot up there next week, if things are quiet down here.

Regarding burgers, one of my favorite things to do is to mix some BBQ sauce in with some graham cracker crumbs with the meat.  Then, I cook them with some extra BBQ sauce while on the grill.  Wife loves them that way and if Momma is happy, the rest of the family is allowed to be happy!

Bob, great to hear from you.  Sounds like you are keeping busy on your end.  You really do have an interesting job.  We still keep you in our prayers.

Guys, the other day I mentioned a 17 yo girl who was killed in a car accident up the road from me.  Little more back ground, she was pregnant (and very far along).  Her boyfriend was in the car and her mother was the driver.  It was on a 4-lane highway with a center turn lane at the light.  Her mother was making a left hand turn and when the light had turned Yellow, she tried to quickly zip across before the Red.  At the same time, a tractor trailer was coming from the opposite direction and he wanted to beat the red too.  Ended up with the tractor trailer driving right over the car.  Daughter was unrestrained in back seat...she was ejected out of the car.  Boyfriend who was wearing his seat belt was severely injured, and mother had a scratch.  Now mother is making funeral arrangements for her daughter who she bears a bit of responsibility for her death.  While I know most here are "seasoned drivers", a lesson is that you never make a move where you count on someone else doing what you expect.  I am sure the mother expected the truck to be stopping for the red light.

OK, off my soap box, but if one reader heeds the warning and doesn't get hurt, I will be grateful.  Regarding Mother's Day, that is all taken care of from my end, but I was asked by my daughter if I could take her and her brother out to get something for mommy.

One last note of humor, my daughter was singing "Sweet Home Alabama" on the way to school today with a very distinct southern drawl....the funny part is that she is native Chinese, so the visual is quite interesting.

Hope each of you is blessed and may God protect you and your families this day.
Dennis

Jack -- forget about "recommended" tire pressures, they are only concerned about a comfy ride, frustrating to say the least.  1)  ALWAYS  check tires cold;  2) rotate more often; 3) find an independent shop owner who has the best alignment machine in town.

Chief--no need to hunt raccoons any more, I have visitors every night -- what I need are Seals Team 6 to come in and cull the herd of raccoons and deer Thumbs Up

Good Evening

59 sunny

Well we both got a" see you in a year" from the eye doctor, so thats good. but either there before we left or after we got home, I lost a blank unsigned check. The office was closed when I tried to call about it. In the real old days someone at the bank would actually check the signature, today you could probably sign Mickey Mouse and it would clear. Man always something huh. We have enough banilla for tonite then I will need to restock...S.J.

Well just for the heck of it I decided to check my halloween pre-orders. Looks as though Big L mite do it again., my last pre-order was for the halloween gateman. When did it arrive on my doorstep, November. The halloween 4-6-0 has been pushed back to Oct delivery. What is up, it's not like it's new tooling. It's the same loco they have been making for several years, essentially just different paint. Bang Head

If it doesn't arrive til November, as the gateman did, I'll be GrumpyGrumpy (double grumpy).

Good afternoon all,

Jack, we might waive the requirement for grits provided you can handle at least cream of rice which looks like grits.  However the Pat and Ray show prefer grits as one of our staples.  Pat can handle the money negotiation.

Chief is out looking for opossum and raccoon for The Jon and Buckeye Bar-B-Que and Grilling show..  Might have to change their name to the "Road Kill Cafe".  Their motto is, "good food from your grill to ours",

Finally got all my WBB NS F3 A-B-A units today and gave them a test run.  They look and run very well with a Norfolk and Western passenger train in tow.

Watched "Only in America" last night with Larry the Cable guy. "Git er done".  He was learning how to gather oysters in South Carolina.  What a wimp!  He would not eat any, especially on the half shell.  In fairness to Larry, they should be served ice cold on the half shell on a bed of ice with dipping sauce of some kind.  I have eaten Chesapeake Bay oysters raw, fried stewed or whatever in the past but I guess it's not safe any longer with pollution nowadays.  I have not eaten any South Carolina oysters.  In fact, I did'nt know they had any.  On the Chesapeake Bay they would harvest them from boats dragging for them or using tongs on the ends of long poles.  On the show about South Carolina, they were just wading in the mud and picking them up at low tide.  Seems like a tough way to do it IMHO.  The locals did not seem to have any trouble negotiating the mud  but Larry and all the Yankees he brought with him on the film crew were up to their waist in mud.

Hot weather is with us now this week in the 90's.  Going to town meeting at Library tonight to hear about plans for extending the Gold Line light rail to our town, hopefully before I die.

MRI tomorrow morning at 8:15AM.  Ouch!  Have to get up early to get ready.

later,

Ray

What's new on the BBQ/ Grilling show with Jon & Buckeye?

They have me out hunting opossum and raccoon for their show. Whistling

Skipped out on the big meeting in Raleigh with the Legislature.  My Lesgislative folks and I talk all the time so I don't have jump on the League's team.  Was going to paint in the new bath but the "grouters" came to do the shower.  Rained .55 inches so they could not work on another project here in Rolesville [it was an outdoor project].  Kind of goofing off which is strange for me.

Everyone bought their Mother's Day presents?  Finn, Burg, Lucy and Nelly [the cat] have.

Good afternoon ya'll from now-raining Taxachusetts.  Two plus days of the wet stuff on tap.  Just got in from raking, mowing, edging, liming, and fertilizing the entire lawn.  Put down the fertilizer with crabgrass preventer where I don't plan on doing any reseeding this year.  Looks like a bumper crop of weeds is emerging this year, but I will address that with chemical warfare.  Didn't get a chance to re-mulch the gardens with some of that cedar stuff I bought before the rains set in.....a project for the weekend.  The wife just doesn't understand that having dogs and a picture perfect lawn don't exactly go together like bread and butter.  Plus, I had asked her to train the dog in the back yard while changing locations every session so she doesn't wear out the lawn in one area  right down to the nub, but she just doesn't listen.  Bang Head  Her solution?  Rip it out and start over.  Bang Head  I think I will  have to fence off the 30' x 30' area she has decimated and reseed, then police her activities and make her move around the yard a bit more.

Our son who moved out of the house (again) about a year ago has decided to pick up stakes and join another buddy down in Margate NJ, just south of Atlantic City.  Has secured employment in office reconstruction and network rewiring!!!!  It's about 385 miles and an 8 hour drive South of here.  Wife not happy about this physical "separation."   There goes the neighborhood, NJ boys!!!!

Anybody know why just the 1.75 inches on the outer edge on both front tires would wear too quickly realative to the rest of the tires?  I have them set at the factory-recommended 30 psi, recheck them ebery three weeks or so, the front end was realigned by the dealer a year and about 22K miles ago, and the car runs smooth as silk at all speeds.  Rears are set to the factory recommended 32psi and are not wearing in a similar fashion.  Tires are Michelin MXVs, the high priced spread.  My common sense tells me that the factory recommends a lower tire pressure so the vehicle rides softer, and also tells me that 30psi is too low and is causing the tire wear problem problem.  So I bumped the fronts to 32psi and the rears to 34psi.  Any advice or observations?

Go get 'em JimmyT.  Good to hear from you, SubmmBob and Johnny 'Across the Pond' Baker.  Stay out of trouble down South, JoeyD, because those Southern sheriffs like to pick us Northerners' pockets clean at every opportunity.  8N......sounds like your wifey has decided her social activities will not be curtailed with that knee!!!!  RaySP......hope your balky knee turns out to be as simple as the cartilage, probably is.

Gotta run.  Later, guyz.

Afternoon fellas and gals:     Hey Pat; the reason our gov't says inflation is low is because the eggheads runnin' the numbers there don't include food or fuel!!   Talk about cookin' the books!  Since we are on my favorite subject, cookin', eatin' and er, drinkin'; due to damp, chilly weather here, wifey has made fresh pot of lentil soup with plenty of veggies.   Dinner    Some italian bread, a bottle of vino, who knows, maybe i'll get lucky?   Not likely  though since my house is like Grand Central Station.  I should put in a turnstile and make a few bucks!    Laugh     later.

And now we have the Pat and Ray's Jacked Up Cooking Show Laugh

What's new on the BBQ/ Grilling show with Jon & Buckeye? Rummer has it that Jack's Grilled Hamburgers are joining the show! Pat and Ray's Cooking Show may try to out bid you for Jack's Grilled Hamburgers.

Chief - Did you find the wheelbarrow in the tall grass (Remember, you may be a redneck gardener is you mow your grass and find a wheelbarrow)?

LAZ , Chuck and Others - Anyone need an explanation for gas, Cheerios, coffee, Etc. going up in leaps and bounds? If needed, I will try to explain without getting political (may not be possible).

Mornin' All.

Gonna be another hot-one today, 95* yesterday but at least we didn't have the horrendous winds like monday.

Ray, It's my understanding that the 18' walls created airflow issues and the rotors lost their lift. Result, things that go bump in the night.

RT, "Bill's Bodacious Bakery".

Phish, Circus Train sounds good, wonder what the protosounds are on the MTH E3 Circus train. Regarding all the rain you've been getting, my sister still lives out by the Cinncy Airport and she has been trying for over two months to get a sewer line replaced. The ground just hasn't had a chance to dry enuff for backhoe work.

8n, Proverbial 10#'s in a 5# bag, S.O.P. Hmm, water therapy. If that includes scotch count me in. Embarrassed

Mike C, As well as others, keep close tabs on the phonebill. Watch for "secondary billings" for some scammers in Fl. Tried to ding us for some phoney "Fax Security Crap", call your provider and have your account set to where you "Do Not Accept Secondary Charges" .

Mitch, Your father sounds like me. Grumpy

Sir J, Sounds like your road crews have taken lessons from CalTrans, hope their spending habits aren't the same. I'll have to take a picture and post it of our $10M "footbridge" sometime, plus the fact that within one year it required some major rework. Apparently the soil tests on one end weren't correct and it started to lean into the lake. Whistling

Doug M, Speed limit is one thing but the so called "quiet zones" are nuts, must'nt disturb the tourists or residents. Hope the sirens don't wake them when someone has to come out and scrape up the drunks & druggies that end up geting run down.

Procrastinated enuff, gotta get moving.

Lunch Time,

Rainy, Cold Day.

Back from my trip to Irvington. Nice safe trip.

Doug, I cringe when I get called out with the Fire Dept at 2:30am for a MVA. It is not good. Do not feel bad, I can not figure out the photo settings either.

Have a great day,

Aloha. Cold and grey. Feels more like March. Lotsa meetings today. Bride and youngest both home sick.
Mitch, Trainz has a 'free' sim version for the iPad too now - go get it! I've been running commuter trains - all diesels or electrics in the BR era... Big Smile
Jim, that was a bad accident - the SUV was full of folks returning from the bars - it was 230 am. Sad Another accident put a cab through my favorite Dunkin Donuts in the Loop yesterday.
8n
, I must partake of this social therapy. Does it include drinks? Smile
Jim, I think a Circus Train makes an outstanding Mother's Day gift. What are you then going to get your wife?
Bob, that particular Metra scoot used to be double-headed.  Did you see the old cars?  The speed limit was 79 mph until a bus crash a few towns down-line. Then the pols lowered it to 55 mph to make themselves feel better. As if being hit by a train at either speed made a difference. Tongue Tied  I'm just glad I could post something. Can't figure out photo postings...

Good Morning

41/50s today

I had a real short visit with the guys last night, tired, just wanted to go to bed. We have our annual eye checkups this afternoon and the 2 main roads between us and them are completely closed for construction. It takes a college education to do things that way. One of the two was closed all summer last year in a different spot, wow they couldn't figure out how to do both projects at the same time I guess...S.J.
