Evening all

Thanks for the kind words about the housing.  We are really blessed.  I figure there is someone who needs a like new house at a great price and we'll meet up.  As far as wether to add on or buy bigger that is up in the air.  I have never lived anywhere else.  I grew up in the house where I now live.  I would like to havethe kids grow up in a nicer neighborhood.  It has changed so much since I was a kid.

Dennis - Conrats

Time for some reading

May God bless

Good Evening

45 and well the suns going down.

Back from Logans, service kinda slow as there were 15 of us and another party of 30 plus the other customers.  won't eat their steaks so I had a giant hamburger instead. It was enough for me. Banilla is waiting and the beacon is humming..S.J.

Good point Pat.  I read TRAINDOODS postings and find them interesting.  Of course after six years of reading stale old posts of the Chiefs about blah, blah, blah, blah from Roseyville, NC it isn't too hard to be entertained on the pot.

Dennis saw you had high bid on it so I watched it as wanted to congrats you when you won. You got a nice engine there for a great price. Congrats there guy.

Not a lot going on today. did find out what caused all my temps at the end of this past week and it is i have an infection in my right leg I think the doc said in the veins so gave me some antibiotics to take for it. anyway that was good news actually as I was afraid I might have a blood clot but he said ( after I went to vascular and they checked out my leg) That actually because of all the walking I do everyday pushing those carts its a good thing as its probably very unlikely I would get a blood clot because of the walking I do all day but not impossible as it can happen just very unlikely.Big Smile

not much else going on

Good evening everyone.  Jack, sorry to hear of your misadventure.  Glad you are OK.  Bob, way back in the day, I stayed at my aunt's ranch in Tennessee for the summer.  On the way to take me to the bus station to head back to Jersey, we were in my grandfather's hard top willy's jeep.  The brakes went out and my aunt had to drive those hair-pin turns using the clutch to slow down.  My personal driving story with a '48 willy's army jeep...we were hunting in Colorado and she stalled on a very steep incline up the side of a mountain.  I had to let her roll backwards and pop the clutch to start it.  Lots of prayer that when I did that, we wouldn't flip over.

Well, life has been on the crazy side.  We had planned on taking the family up to visit my grandmother who would be turning 99 in September.  She is in the mountains of east Tennessee.  Made hotel arrangements and plans to visit Gatlinburg, TN afterwards.  Called grandma on Saturday to make sure it would be OK.  Get a call from aunt on Tuesday that grandma died.  So, we went up anyway this past Friday to bury grandma.  Caught up with family and then went to Gatlinburg.  Had a great time and came home last night.  Early this morning, we had a tornado come through and do a little tree removal.  They say we lost 6 people in the area and about 32 million in damage for the state.  Then, today, I read a story about how a water treatment plant next to the hotel we stayed at in Gatlinburg had some kind of explosion and millions of gallons of raw sewage entered the river that our hotel room overlooked.  That killed two workers at the plant.  While I am certainly thankful for the fact that we avoided all the issues between the storm and the other incident, it is a reminder that trouble can be right around the corner.  Hope the week ahead is a bit more tame.

I did get some good news.  I won a auction for a Susquehanna RS-1 Atlas with TMCC and all the bells and whistles.

Hope everyone is having a good week and know we are all blessed.

Good morning all,

It's still windy but it's going to warm up to about 75 today.  I’m feeling a little under the weather today; I’m not sure what crud some of you guys had, but I believe it made its way to OK.  I probably will not work a full day today.  My wife made me a frittata this morning for breakfast.

steveo – I’m glad you enjoyed the show.  The show had more O gauge/scale items than I expected which was great.  I may miss the Enid show due to may son having a baseball tournament on Saturday.  Did you buy your Plasticville building from the folks with the matching yellow polo shirts?  They are nice people.

Jim Probe – I did not get the matching passenger cars, the vendor did not have them.  I will start looking for them this week and I hope to find them.  Right now those Alcos are pulling a hodgepodge of cars: extra PRR passenger cars, Annie, and a television car.

On Coney Island: I haven’t been there since I was a kid in the 80s.  Other than going to see the Yankees, Coney Island was the best part of our trips to NYC.  I heard it is not that fun anymore.  I hope that’s not the case because I would love to take my wife and kids there sometime.

Good day,

Joe

Good morning all, quiet day yesterday.  Did not even go out of the house or run trains.  Got an E mail about an old head engineer I knew who just passed away at 93.  He was one of the first guys to let me take a train over the road when I was a fireman/engineer trainee.

Jack, sorry about your deductible on the car damage but glad no one was hurt.  Collie dogs next door still bark all the time but neighbor has moved them to the back of the property so I don't hear them as much.  He still has all five of them.  He is supposed to get rid of three of them but hasn't so far.  They are not mean dogs.  They just haven't had any training or TLC or at least not enough.

Went to a TTOS meeting on Sunday and got there late.  Lots of stuff but did not need to buy anything.  I would like to concentrate my train time on fixing up some problems.  Need more wiring and also need to fix headlight out on one engine with DCS.   I'm pretty sure it needs a new lighting board but don't want to go there.  Been thinking about just adding an LED with bridge rectifier for constant voltage available from Evan Designs.

Fish, prayers for your need for more room.

later,

Ray

Lunch time,

Rainy day and very busy morning.

Buckeye, Sounds like you had a great time in Brooklyn. Coney Island: When I was small my parents and I used to go there all of the time with my Godfather and his wife Sophie. I was the only kid at the time and my Mom and Aunt Sophie would take me on the kiddie rides and my Dad and my Godfather would go on the parachute jump, the steeplechase, etc. The last time that we went was in 1956 and the reason why we did not go back is a tale in itself. Pretty funny. It involved the midget barker and an electric shock stick.

88: I know all about following dump trucks.

SJ: That is great having the same birthday years apart. At 8 last night I was still working.

Everyone, have a great day.

Joe,

Did you get the matching passenger cars for the Reading Alcos?

Not much going on this morning.  I did some parts swapping on the 3562s.  The orange one had a nice original (but incorrect) gray ramp in it, and the gray one had a repainted gray ramp.  I also have a 3562 in a junk box that I removed the ramp from and sprayed black.  That ramp went into the orange car while the original gray ramp went into the nice gray 3562.

Just a quick spash and go.

High 50s now and into the 60s later, PLUS RAIN.  FOR SURE THIS WILL SPELL THE END OF SNOW IN MY YARD FOR THE 2010-2011 WINTER!!!!!!

Thanks to all for your well wishes over Sunday night's driving adventure.  As angry as I was over the incident which was due to one person's pure negligence and could have cost someone's life, I am thankful we were not hurt, or worse.  The steam is still rising from my head because the car repair of the front fascia will come out of my pocket, my deductible, since the offending motorist just kept on going and will remain forever anonymous.

Welcome home Buckeye.  A vacation in Brooklyn?  Now THAT is different.  Smile, Wink & Grin

MikeC.....cheer up, have faith, but know in your heart that some unhealthy wrangling could go on.  As executor to my Mom and Dad's estate, I was responsible for orchestrating the equitable division of liquid assets (easy), property (less easy), keepsakes (WW III), and pure unadulterated junk and trash.  I was never unable to get concensus from either of my sisters no matter what I tried.  Rationality and equity seemed to mean absolutely nothing to them because sibling rivalry and emotion kept getting in the way.  13 years later, they each privately still grouse to me  about who got what, though those complaints now come farther and farther apart. Bang Head  My condolences on the Butler defeat last night.

Mitch......hope you are feeling better. Sad  RT, glad to hear you are. Big Smile  Brent.....your train layout reminds me of Sisyphus trying to roll that rock up the hill.  And re your house project agenda, hope there is no electricity or stairs involved......you can't be too careful.  Laugh

Car maintenance, a toilet repair, and a haircut are on the docket.

Later, gang!

It started out at 33 deg. this morning but should get in the 70's today, I'm sure glad the winter is about gone.

Joe, I did like the Bixby show and thought it was bigger than the last two I attended. Picked up a plasticville two story house with garage and patio for $7.50, and it was already put together. Saw a metal light bridge with two sets of lights faceing each direction for $30.00 that would look real nice on my layout but will have to wait awhile before I get one.

Wont make the Enid show but probably will get to OKC and Dewey.

Have a great day all..

Good Morning

30/50 today, cloudy.

Lots of chatter this morning, it's good to see everyone's out today. What's with this web site at night? I still think they roll up the sidewalk at 8. It's the entire site not just the pot. Well I ran some trains yesterday and everything is working till I have company again. No breakfast yet, might go easy as we have a son and daughter with birthdays today, I think we are all going to Logans, not my favorite place but not my turn to choose..

Returned home from seeing the daughter and her family in Brooklyn, NY.  Had a grand time riding the trains, eating hot dogs at Coney Island, visiting Trainworld (see ad to the right), walking the Brooklyn Bridge (my legs are still tired), visiting the NY Transit Museum and of course watching train videos with the Grandson.

Good Morning, 61 and getting ready for RAIN. It is April and I am glad that it is not snow.

RT, I was thinking about the road name that we were taking about the other night. Is it Lanes Mill Road? That intersection, is it with Sally Ike Road?

Brutus, Nice deal on the oil change, rotation, detail.

Chief, I get requests for jobs all of the time. A few years ago we had a hard time getting good mechanincs. We are in need of a few (14 to be exact) but when you tell people that we are not hiring they think you are just blowing them off.

SubmmBob: Memories, Willys Wagon, I had a 1959 Willys Rack Bodied truck. Great plow truck but slow.

Mike C, Just try to cope with the drama.

Mitch, I have been trying to shake the "crud" myself.

I got home late from school last night and missed the Tardis. I had to stop at the firehouse and take care of something. Home after 11.

Have a great day,

Morning to All,

Still fighting the crud.  Not sick enough to stay home, but not felling great.  The joys of allergy season.  Actually came home yesterday on time and then slept for a few minutes before dinner.

Only have one late night this week. Hopefully I'll be feeling better by Wednesday night.  Couple of long days full of meetings, some of the contentious variety.  It gets old after a while.

Better get moving. First meeting starts promptly at 8:00 AM.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning all,

It is a cloudy day in SE Indiana with the weather as cold as Butler's shooting last night.  Ouch, that was painful.  Fortunately, Norte Dame has an opportunity to salvage some dignity for Indiana tonight.  Finally got dad's truck sold last night.  Some more drama with sister and wife over "stuff".  This gets old. Good day at work as got way more done than I thought I would.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Well we are back to regular observations. The switchover went fairly smooth. Nice to get back to a less hectic schedule though.

Jack - glad to hear everyone is ok and that the damage wasn't too bad. The craziest thing I heard like that was I once got a call from my insurance that my truck had been involved in an accident when it was being stored for the summer by some friends. The vehicle involved turned out to be one I had recently sold. Apparently the title was never changed over. Well I guess a couch had fallen out of the vehicle and caused a multi-car accident on I-8 and the vehicle left the scene! I thought that the AZ and CA national guard should meet at the border and hunt that vehicle down and destroy it. It had caused way to much grief in a year or so's time. Lesson: strap everything in well and do a walk around (and never buy a Willy's wagon).

Jim T - enjoying sseing the progress on the 624!

Time to find some breakfast

Jack, glad all are OK.  BTW: got an email from some guy in your state complaining about the cost there.  Looking to move to Rolesville.  Wanted some info and a JOB. Sigh

The new connectors arrived from DigiKey today.  Worked on my 4 motor 200 series A-B-A Alco set for a bit tonight.  Not tested yet, but I should have an A-A set up controlled by one e-unit.  Two motored B unit still in the works.

DougDG - we have a motorola cable modem now and really like it.  Replaced our old modem, that was 10 years old and did not match the speed of our cable, which we have been paying for of course.  To activate, I called the company and they took care of staging it from their end.  Then I ran an ethernet cable to the laptop and went into the router firmware (after rebooting the router so it would ask for a new IP address) and it quickly found that new modem.  After that, all our network is fine - most of the time was waiting for the cable company to get through their voice menus to a real person.  We already had a router that is b/g/n so did not get a the modem/router combo.  To tell you how old our old one was, the cable company didn't want it back!

Nice chats with SJ and Charlie tonight.  Son cut his finger on a kitchen knife - it was a little deep, but not a long cut.  I think it will heal nicely, so just put some antibiotic ointment on it to start and then a big knuckle bandaid.

I dropped the truck off for an oil/filter/lube/rotation job and complete detailing - all free, which was a price I could not turn down.

Probe - I keep thinking that things are going to turn around for you, man.  Hang in there - that good job is out there.  I trained to be an English Lit teacher and now write legal decisions for a living - who would have thunk it?  I'm sure I've done more good to help more people in this job that I would have ever done teaching kids about iambic pentameter Laugh
