Afternoon All.

What a difference a day makes, sat & sun 90* +/- a bit depending on source but today it's only 65 with heavy overcast. Sigh

Still can't believe the weather the past week, Angel for those having to live with the results of natures wrath.

Sounds as if some made good buys. Thumbs Up

Demay

Good morning all,

I am back to work after enjoying a week off.  I have plenty of emails to sort through and a few things to catch up on.  It's going to very warm today with the high hitting 89.  I ran this morning and had oatmeal for breakfast.  I had a dental exam today as well; I have a cavity which will be filled next week.  I need to floss more often; it's my first cavity in about 16 years.

RT - We all have those kinds of weeks sometimes.

Laz - Does this Barry guy have a website?  I hear such great things about him I would be interested in buying from him.

88 - I'm glad you guys are aright and did not have any damage.

Good day,

Joe

JOE,

BARRY doesn't have a web site but does sell stuff on e bay under ( l1onel).  He is based out of Elizabethtown, Pa. and his number is 717 367-4745 if you need anything.  He will ship stuff to you.  Just tell him George from Millersburg sent you, and he or MIKE will take care of you.

Good evening everyone.  Well, I am finally off call!  Was a relatively quiet day, so I left the hospital early and was able to pick up the kids after school.  Had a fun afternoon with them.  They are now watching "Veggie Tales".  Good shows that you don't have to worry about the content...in fact, they teach life lessons.

Picked up some Red Velvet doughnuts....YUM!

Word has it, we are supposed to have some storms come through Thursday.

Roy, glad you had a good time and got some nice deals up there in York.

Yes SJ site very sloooowwwwwww .

Well today was a good/bad day had to cut about a 2"x3" hole in paneling to access where the cable wire was running thru. It would go into the wall fine and the hole on the outside ( the brick area ) was definitely big enough but it wouldn't go thru. well after tearing open wall fine a piece of what looks like plywood against the brick and its hole is just big enough for the wire so took a 3/4" flat drill bit and drilled right next to it and then cut the other 1/8" between the 2 holes with my knife and slid it over and out. now need to patch. well then I unscrewed all 25 clamps holding wire to outside the house so I could reroute it to under the house to our bedroom. Drilling hole in closet floor and just as I break thru I pull drill back and no drill bit yep it fell thru to the soft sand under the house ( yes the 3/4" flat drill bit.) . Well craw under house find hole from closet ( used Yankee knowhow stuck a opened hanger down the hole) and then located drill bit. run cable up thru hole. Go into house and start using clamps I saved from removing cable and get the last one in and I hear a grinding noise yep killed drill oh well its about 7 years old and have used it quite a bit so will put it and its double charging unit and two batteries, trim saw and flashlight in box and take up to auction house with a bunch of other stuff. ( sears 19.2 volt set) see Home depot has a nice set on sale for like ( 80.00) might buy it, its a ryobi 18 volt 4 piece set but only one battery but for $80.00 and its not like I use it every day. So it would do me.

Partly sunny and high 60's today.  Rain on the way.

RT - as you are shopping for a new drill, see if you can find one that has been manufactured in the U.S.  Last time I looked, all of the products for the traditional U.S. brands were manufactured offshore.

My wife found out at the therapist that she had lost some flex motion in her knee since last Friday.  Call to the doctor resulted in megaton size pain pills.  Pain management and agressive therapy are the orders.  She is strapped into the knee flexing machine as I write this.  This machine is making groaning sounds at the extend end of the motion.  Guess I'll have to make a call on it tomorrow.

My MKT boxcar I got on e-bay arrived today.  Clean, low miles, sprung diecast trucks, well detailed.  Nice piece overall - even without the box.

I just had the thought that I seem to have gotten some pretty good e-bay buys around the major York meets over the last couple of years.  Suppose it is correlation or coincidence?

All for now.

Man - so slow!

Brent - thanks man!  You guys are all the greatest and especially thanks to you for all the running around and contacts with that other store.  Geez!

Shenanigans continue at work - talked to my boss about it.  Nothing that won't go away eventually, but why sweat this stuff, it's already work - why do people make it harder than it has to be?

Sounds like you guys all made some great buys!

Prayers for us all and for our friends and families.  Have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow so friends can drop off their kids.  We'll take their kids to school while they go to the hospital for some minor surgery.  Hope it works out for them - sure it will.

TARDIS is ready and we have Chunky Monkey or Famous Banilla, so let's hit it guys :)

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Morning to All,

Busy day at work as usual. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff that happens.  Forgot to mention that the Mrs, my bro, SIL and niece and I went on a bus trip to NYC. We met up with nephew that just moved to Brooklyn in January. Had a good lunch and then visited his new apartment, went to his office which was very close to WTC and saw the new towers going up.  The ride home was in the midst of monsoon type rains and winds on Saturday night. Our area near school was hit by high winds, trees down, some of the kids were still without power yesterday AM.

Tried to set up the AF All Aboard set but I need to find track clips and rail joiners.  Tried to fax an order to Triple S but to no avail. Does anyone know if they are still in business? Do any of you American Flyer guys have a good parts supplier?

Spent Sunday cleaning out old entertainment center and last night I put together a credenza in preparation of delivery on Wednesday of new HD TV. When it got to the point that we could no longer read the ticker at the bottom of the screen, we decided a new TV was in order.  The one we have is a SONY, but we got it just before the HD craze and screens started getting huge.  Got the credenza all assembled and realized that one inside panel was in upside down and had to disassemble to turn panels around.  Directions were pitiful  with no written directions at all and the diagrams were way to small to see details. Finally got it together.  Tonight I will have to connect components like surround sound, DVD, and DVR to be ready for the delivery of the TV.  Have to stop by Wally World to get a new power strip/surge protector.

Another busy day at work. The issues never end, and the continuing budget woes continue. Latest funding proposal from local government put us at least 1.5 million short, even after losing 40+ classroom teachers and 10-12 administrative type support positions in the last two years.

Well I better get moving.

Take care,

Mitch

<--- Holy Cow!  Did this sneak up on me...

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Grey and 57 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Cut grass for first time yesterday.  B&D Grass-hog battery seems to be giving up the ghost.  I drained it all the way down for a full recharge.

Wifey doesn't like how the new garage sale looks in its current position on my layout.  Meyersdale may be in for a slight remodeling.

Good Morning,

Quiet here so far. Son is making progress with the thumb and he is happy because he was approved by the town council to be a Vol. Firefighter at the last meeting.

Nothing new for me this week on the train front. Spending time and money on the wife's aquarium.

Everyone, have a great day,

John

Hi GUYZ,

Not too bad here but gonna get some rain later today.  Ran the CSX SD40 Husky Stack train set last nite again, all is good with this set.  The only thing the SD40 doesn't have compaired to my NS Sd40 is ditch lites.  On box it states it has ditch lites but on Lionels Web site and in catalog it doesn't have them listed.  So don't know if it has them or not?

Stay frosty,

It is a rain soaked 48 degrees. Rained all nite and still going strong. Going up to 60 today with rain.

Today is an easy day. I have some chores to do and a project to work on. Can't go outside, so I will take a nap this afternoon.

Indians won another game. Look good.

Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Fife,

As long as you are in the grass cutting mode, you could come and cut mine too....that is if you could find it under the 5-8 inches of wet slushy heavy snow that are predicted to fall here today. I haven't even gotten the snow blower ready for storage yet.. good thing.

I really like the garage sale you picked up.  I'd be tempted to add it to the Blueboard Central if they had such things in the pre war era.

Northwoods - It's way-way too big for S.  Bordering on too big for O.  But, the busier I can make the area around it, the more it can blend in.  May have to turn the MTH FD a 1/4 turn clock-wise (can't see the fireman sliding down pole), and reconfigure the "south" end of town.  Needs a little sprucin' up anyhow.  I'll keep my eyes open for you, just the same.  Have to check some old LEMAX offerings. Idea

Thanks Fife,

Is it Dept 56 or Lemax?  I already have an antique store on the Blueboard Central.  I purchased a bunch of approximately O gauge doll house furniture to set around on the side walk and outside the building.  So far the building is in place but the furniture is still not out. I'll have to work on that for this week's SPF

I am not too worried about keeping things exactly in scale.  The Flyer Pre War O gauge trains are really what I am about showing off.  The town is just for atmosphere.  Hmmm  seems the atmosphere is getting more crowded all the time.

In any case, I look forward to seeing the final positioning on your layout.

Thanks again,

Good morning

34 now with temps rising through the day bringing storms tonight. My layout is just that, not a model RR. I run what I like and I use Plasticville and love it. However with more space the scale building's would be great. Doctor appoint. at 10:30 for regular check up. S.J.

Aloha. Another wet, cold day. Class tonight. Glad your son is mending, John. Boy, there were some nice pick-ups at York. That wagon-top boxcar looks nifty, Brent.  Starting to dream about what I might buy myself for my birthday next month. Maybe a snowplow or one of those butterdish milk cars... or pre-order a McKeen interurban Big Smile, Looked for the Tardis last night but it must've missed my beacon in the clouds. Gladly avoided my siblings who conference-called to argue about my mom's finances. Like SJ and Northwoods, I like to look for interesting things for the layout - not scale - that just look like they'd fit in. Kinda. Smile. Then I get to move everything around.

Mitch - Here are some links for just one of many AF suppliers. Ive used them both. For some reason and I'm not sure if others have had the same results but RFGCO was very slow with my order. I've called Marty's Trains (the second link) at night and got my products within a week. Again, my order might have been the exception and I don't want to scare anyone any from anyone, just letting you know.

Good luck and keep us posted on your All Aboard set. I believe Jim Sturgeon- Phish has one as well.

Lunch Time,

Northwoods Flyer, I would trade the lawnmower for the snowblower anytime.

Fife: My wife wants for Mother's Day a 110 (I think that was the size) gal. tank. She has a 55 gal. now with 4 turtles in it. The dog is their watch dog and best friend. When he comes into the room they swim to the front of the tank. I removed them Sunday to clean the tank, put them in a box and he stood guard over them. He checks on them every morning before he goes out and then again when he comes in.

I like to mix Plasticville with Dept 56 and Lemax along with K line, Lionel and MTH to get the look that I like. As long as it looks good I really do not care about exact scale.

Back to work,

John

Doug saw you come on last night but then when I went to go get you you were invisible that must of been around 9 or so as I was talking to john at that time and when he left Brutus came on. and then SJ

Well went with another drill set as the one I was looking at was mail order only so beside paying there shipping I would have to wait about a week to get it. and I can just go get this set. So thats where I'm heading in a few.

Got a request to fill out a survey about the last mag today in my email did that so thats done.

Wife wants me to take back off of dryer and vacume extra lint so thats a project this afternoon after I come back and charge batteries. Smile

Not much else going on will talk to you all later

Good morning all, drizzle for the last two mornings.  Even had a little rain yesterday morning.

John, glad your son is doing OK.  I agree about burning a church.  One of the most despicable things I can think of.  Special place in hell for those folks but they can be thankful I'm not the judge.

Stayed in all day yesterday with cloudy weather.  Did not even venture out to train room.  Started off with blood test today for Dr. appt. next week.  Dinner out with church group tomorrow night then a different Dr. appt. on Thursday.  I think I'm keeping all those guys in business.

Unloaded new MTH catalog yesterday off the net.  However, nothing I need in it.  I already have a SR PS4.  Like the SR F7 units but would prefer green and white instead of black and white.  Already have SR B&W F3's on order from WBB.

Neighbor next door (with collie dogs) did a lot of work on weekend tearing out large trellis over his driveway and chopped a tree in half that was overhanging same.  Looks like heck from our side but he needs clearance to get a 27 foot boat in driveway.  He offered to take me fishing in the boat sometime but he is about 10 years too late.  Thanked him anyway.

later, Ray

Good afternoon all,

It's warm outside but very windy again.  My son's first regular season baseball game is tonight so I'm hoping the winds die down before it starts.  I don't have much going on at work today but I am about to step out of the office for a little while which will be nice.  The in-laws come in tonight to watch the son's game.  They will spend the night and then tomorrow while I'm at work, my wife and her mother will surely rearrange our furniture.

Laz - Thanks for the information on Barry's shop.  I will hopefully call them tomorrow at lunchtime.  I want to see what buildings they have in stock.

AF53 Ray - A win is always a win.  The Red Sox are starting to play better which does not sit well with me.

Good day,

Joe
