Lunch Time,

Dining car came and I had the soup. It was delicious.

Ray good luck with the staple removal. You can vouch how picky my wife can be when it comes to choosing.

Brent, Good luck on the adoption. We considered it before my son was born. As you know it is not as easy as you may think.

Chief, Wish Pam congrats on her retirement. Put a block on the home improvement channels.

Charlie, congrats on the ZW. Ray and I have had good luck purchasing them used also.

Don, I think that they are being a little harsh on you, I would have kept out the 2 extra days. The TCA Museum is a favorite stop for me also.

Time to go back to work,

John

Good morning all, that sounds like a lot of explaining you were doing Don.  Must have been something going on back there.  Still feeling kind of bummed out this morning.  Bronchitis or whatever it is seems like it is breaking up a little.  Been taking tylenol  but that's all.  Stomach hurt a little this morning before breakfast but blamed it on all my other medications and the crud I have.

I'm still trying to get adjusted to life with the new neighbor.  New 27 foot boat moved in on Tuesday which looks like the Queen Mary compared to the size of our back driveways.  He decided to wash it yesterday and all the drain water comes over to my side and behind my garage.  I'm used to rain water doing that because of the lay of the land but am concerned about soapy water coming on our property.  I will let him know if this continues and will suggest environmentally friendly soap.  I will give him a pass on this one since he just got it out of dry land storage and had to get the dust off of it.  My brother always washed his boat when he pulls it up the ramp after use.  Don't want to be an old grouch but I have been used to living next to an older couple with no kids, boats or dogs for the last 30 plus years and we never got in each other's hair.  My old neighbor passed away and the house was sold.  Now it's a whole new ballgame.  I guess we are spoiled.  At least there are no drug problems over there.  I'm grateful for that.  Things could be a lot worse.

Hope I get well enough to make it to church on Easter.  We picked up a ham yesterday for Easter and our kids and grandson are coming over for dinner.

Chief, congratulations to your wife on retirement.  Be careful, she will have more time to work on overhauling you now.

Dennis, hope things work out for the best with the baby.

Have a good week,

Ray

Good Afternoon from Blueberryhill....

Buckeye is on another scouting assignment to the deep South to prepare for the ultimate undertaking in January 2012. He is driving a junk car with a hound dog in the back seat, just like Chief drives, so he will blend in with the locals.

As some of you know The Q and I have been on a quest to adopt a child. We've had some promising leads, but they have all fallen through for one reason or another. We had all but given up and started moving exercise equipment and other stuff into what was supposed to be the nursery, and even started remodelling the spare bathroom last weekend. Well Tuesday afternoon we were matched with a birth mother in FL who is due to deliver a baby girl on 8/12!!!!!! Keep your fingers, toes, eyes, and ears crossed!

OUTSTANDING!!!!! Thumbs Up Big Smile  Better news than Pam's retirement. [BTW: she will be working a new job Monday thru Friday]

Cloudy and warm.  Had a few showers.  Tile going up in bath.  Getting granite counter tops for kitchen and bath.  Measurer came today and price is half what was quoted by the "big" guy in town.  Mexican guy bought out a business in neighboring small town.   Plumber is finishing the replumbing except connecting new "stuff" in bath.

Off to the lake house for a night.  Coming back tomorrow.  I'm going back Monday and do siding on storage shed.  Plans got changed due to new granite counter top guys.

Bob Keller says they are aware of slow times.  They are working on it.

As mentioned I have been working to reconfigure the Town side of the layout. It used to look like this:

You can see it taking shape in these pictures.

In this picture you can see the new transition track alignment, the Y eliminates the need for a reversing loop on the upper level, and will allow me to 'step' the mountain from the first level, to the transition track, to the upper level. You can also see the 27" addition to the layout in the rear of the image.

Here you can see where the transition track starts on the lower level.

In this shot you see the new Atlas through girder bridge in place. There is a new support structure on the left side and the old tunnel portal will remain to provide support for the upper level sub base. The support on the right is temporary till I build a new abutement structure and tunnel portal. This is a bit tricky because of the switch. The Atlas Truss Bridge will extend to the right from the girder bridge.

Good Morning and Happy Good Friday!

I have not been on the pot for several days.  I took vacation this past week and it has been busy.  Monday did yard work, Tuesday went to Cincinnati to visit with youngest daughter and the kids stayed with her and we went to Columbus for the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral.  Really neat service.  Wednesday went to the Cincinnati Zoo, and then yesterday got the churches ready for Holy Thursday Services.  It will be non-stop from here till Sunday afternoon but fantastic in the same way.

While in Cincy went to a diner and had something like scrapple called Gaeta.  It was pretty good.

Jim F – Prayers for Char

Brent – Prayers for your adoption process and your layout is looking great.

Chief – Now that Pam is retired does this mean more trips to the cabin?

May God bless

Aloha. The bride and I celebrate 22 years today. I had a few things for her to unwrap this morning, even though we had agreed to no gifts. I know after 22 years that no gifts agreements aren't meant to be followed... Wink

Don, maybe that baseball team for sale should move back to Brooklyn. Big Smile

Brent, thanks for sharing your layout progress. It looks great. Hope things work out on the adoption side. Our three were all adopted - and there's always ups-and-downs in the processes.  Our third was a bit of a surprise to me, but 'worth' it. Dennis, prayers for you and Kim's considerations...

Big night for watching Chicago sports last eve - Bulls win, Hawks win and Sox win (the latter a rare thing lately). Ray, I like Ozzie as Sox manager. He runs his mouth off but gets the Sox attention in what still seems to be a Cubs town...

With the price of gas at $4.20, the bride wants to go to a Good Friday service that is quite a ways away. Then another one with the boys tonight. A small price to pay.

Good morning all,

We had some much needed rain yesterday and last night, but so far today it is sunny.  It will be a mild day with the high around 69.  There is a slight possibility for more rain, but I doubt anyone minds since it has been very dry.  TGIF - This week seemed to go by slow which was probably due to me not working last week.  Either way, I am ready to enjoy Easter weekend.

I forgot to post this sooner, but here is a link for all the Civil War buffs: http://www.history.army.mil/files/commemorations/civil_war/index.html

Brent - Thanks for sharing the photos, the layout is looking great.

Doug - Congratulations on the anniversary!

Hi Fifedog,

I've spotted a partial garage sale on eBay. Is it the building or the items in the garage sale that seem eversized to you?  I 'm considering a bid on it. I can probably come up with enough items on my own to be merchandise.

Doug, Congratulations on 22 big ones.  Hope you make 50 of them or more.

Dodger baseball is up for grabs I think.  I have not gone since they uped the parking to $15.  That's like a slap in the face by those money grupping, lavish living owners who didn't even have a security chief before that fan got beaten up on opening day by some thugs.

Train meet tomorrow but don't feel in the mood.  Poor time to have a train meet on Easter week.  I'm still trying to get over my cold/bronchitis or whatever it is anyway.  Dr. gave me some anti biotics yesterday and hope that will do it.

All is quiet on the boat side of the house today so far.  Not complaining.

Have a good day all,

Ray

Good day to all,

Hope everyone has a blessed Good Friday.

Been working on honey-do's most of the day, rearranging furniture, cleaning out closets after the delivery of the new TV.  Bought a new recliner and brought it home yesterday but I can't get the back to slide down and lock.  Worked on it for over an hour last night and again today, something is misaligned. Called and they are sending a furniture technician to look at it. I guess that's the first step in getting a replacement or repair.

Order track pins for the All Aboard set from Triple "S" Supplies, quick courteous service.  He was out of the clips that hold the panels together, but hopes to get them in soon.

Better get back to work or the Mrs. might fire me.

Take care,

Mitch

Good evening everyone.  Early day at work with a lot of paperwork and phone calls to get out of the way.  Finished in time to take rest of family and some friends of ours with their kids out for lunch and a fun afternoon at a park.  We had the place to ourselves for quite some time.  Kids decorated eggs tonight and are out having a egg hunt with plastic eggs (they hide and find them for quite some time).

Doug, happy anniversary!  Hope you have a great day with the bride.

I have a list of honey dos to get to this weekend.  Hope to get most of it done tomorrow.  Bride will be going out with one of her friends to a movie...and I will have the kids too.  Can't complain as she does so much of the work around here.

Hope everyone has a great Easter.  We are expecting a lot of extra folks for church, so we may have to move to the over-flow in the chapel.  Funny how some folks come twice a year....but we are glad they know where they are supposed to be.

God Bless,
Dennis
