Good afternoon all,

Good to see Lucy is on the job.  Being the second poster on this thread is about as near the top as one can get.  For those who did not see the end of the march thread, congrats are in order to Sarah Fisher and her husband on the impending birth announcement in September.

Keep on training,

Lunch Time, It started snowing here about a 1/2 hr ago. pretty wet and not sticking yet.

Thank you Lucy for resetting the pot.

About the seller with the junk, misrepresented items, I purchased a 6464 boxcar that had overspray on 1 side from a different seller. Before I bid I checked out his feed back. It was not that good and anybody that had anything negative he would flip out on them. The price seemed reasonable, it looked good in the picture, but it was a picture of one side. I won it. When I received it it had spray paint all over the opposite side of the picture. I gave him a so-so rating and stated taht it was misrepresented and the paint problem. I e mailed him first and I had no reply. He flipped out  and said that it must be really minute and he did not see it and I am a complainer. I just shrugged it off and never bought from him again.

Be careful out in this crazy weather.

Happy April Fool's day all, Had friends over last night for operating trains.  Watched  a train video on the Durango and Silverton (Rio Grande narrow gauge) when it was still a real railroad from Durango to Alamosa.  My friend picked up the tape for one buck at a sale.  Local railroad society is putting all their archive tapes on DVD and selling off the old tapes.

Last night another friend returned my MTH proto 1 F3 which I had converted to conventional by a dealer.

It had a headlight out after the conversion.  He got the light on again by piggybacking the headlight wire onto another connection for the marker lights.  Funny, my local MTH authorized repair station was unable to fix this (or made no attempt) but one of us regualar operators did.  So much for repair station!

Now for my next project.  Need to put some Bullfrog Snot on a wheel  of my MTH E6 unit.  The front truck is a bear to take off for replacing rubber tire so the Snot  is a good alternative.

Have a good day all and watch out for April fool jokes.

Ray

Our meteorologists should take up another profession or change the descrption of their duties to "blown forecast master."  Wife and I dove home from NH last night in blizzard whiteout conditions @ 40mph in a 65 zone, and that was pushing it.  Wound up with about 5" here at home while friends of ours an hour's drive North in Maine got over a foot of the white stuff.  Interspersed rain and 32 degree temperatures held the totals down..  Using science and physics this morning, I determined that letting Mother Nature handle the accumulation requires less force, uses less energy, and contributes less pollution to the planet than than a shovel and a snowblower.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Good afternoon all,

It's been a busy Friday, but I'm leaving work soon.  The weather today was great; it hit 75 or so.  This weekend should be very nice as well.  Sunday's high is 90.  I think some of our regulars still posted on the March pot; I guess that happens when you get old RT Laugh.

The family and I are heading to my wife's parents house tonight after our son finishes baseball practice.  We will spend the night at their house and then tomorrow the FIL, son, and I will attend the train show in Bixby.  I'll be on the lookout for some buildings and Fastrack turnouts.  I hope I don't get distracted with any other great deals since I spotted a few items of interest in the new Lionel catalog.

Ray and John – It was just another day of winning for the Yankees.

I'll be back tomorrow night to post.

RT and John,

I tried to leave a negative yesterday, but ebay wouldn't let me do it.SoapBox  I don't care if I get blocked or not.  I won't buy from them any longer because there are too many others out there that are great people to deal with that deserve our business.  That's why I am such a supporter of Toy Town.  Nice, honest folks win every time in my book, and I am more than happy to support them.

Charlie,

Love that post.  I am going to try and save it.

Brent,

The rodent is gone.  My bad, you meant the weather one.Oops - Sign

I was relieved to see that our avatars are intact today.Wink  Got in ten 260 bumpers today.  Couldn't pass up the deal.  I'll probably keep what I want and turn the others out.

The 624 was stripped by the time I got home today, so it'll get painted asap.

Joe  & John - You're so right!!

RT - The worst purchase I've had with ebay was something won and was not properly described. The item was a two piece set and one was broke (the other was fine). So I emailed the seller and waited a week without a response. I contacted him twice. I then opened a case with ebay. They granted me a full refund (it wasn't much more than $30). The very next day the seller, who was contacted buy ebay about their decision to refund me, contacted me! He said that I should return the items back because ebay took money from his account for the refund and how is it fair that I get to keep it and get a refund "that's stealing". I emailed ebay, asking if this was true. They said the seller was wrong that they never take money from a seller. So much for comunication. I've had another seller offering me a partial refund on something but it was insignificant and I thanked him for the offer and still left a good rating.

But with that particular seller, I just don't like buying things sold as is.

Buyer beware!

Evening all

Pretty good CTT this month.  Neat articles.  Makes me wish I had the layout back!  Someday.

I have been fortunate in that I have only had one less than positive experience on ebay, and that onedid finally work out.  I will be glad when Lent is over as I am giving up looking at much less buying anything train related on ebay

My worst experience was years ago guess when ebay may of been about 2 or 3 years old it was one of my first experiences and back then ebay didn't back up the buyer any. the guy had a Orange 200 series loco and showed only the one side and bidding was ending so didn't have time to send email well I won it and the other side had like burns from an old wood burning set /soldering iron complained to seller he retorted you should of asked questions instead of trying to just win it at a low price at the end.

TGIF.

The sun made an appearance today.  Got into the mid 60's.

Jim - what are you using to strip the paint from your 624(?) switcher?

Crazy hours at work must be epidemiclately - we've had them too.  Got enough work done this week that hours might ease for a while.

'As is' or 'not tested' items on e-bay?  Bid accordingly, and if somebody else wins, the headaches are theirs.

Dug out my 4 motor 200 series Alco project again last night.  Discovered that some of the connectors I had planned on using will not fit the way I wanted.  Went back into the DigiKey catalog and found something else that should work.  Should get here sometime next week.

Supposed to be nice this weekend.  No OT scheduled at the plant either.  Planning on doing yard work.

All for now.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 36 degrees. Going up to 42 today with cloudy skies.

Today is a busy day. Chores and a project to work on. The Indians almost pulled out the mess they made of their Opener. What a team.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Mornin' boys.  Better weather ahead.  Taking youngest princess pants shopping in a little while.  Fortunately, Sears is still "good enough."  Boy might want to go up to Ripken Stadium for a Japan relief drive, as some Ravens will be signing autographs.

Brutus/laz - People used to walk right up to me and say "you cops don't get paid enough"...  Don't hear that anymore...

Sunny and 42 at exit 77 on the GSP going up to the mid 50's. Nice!

Laz, Brutus, Fife - I'm with ya! (I just deleted a whole paragraph of what I wanted to say but no soapbox today).

About ebay - It's been my experience that 99% of it has been real good. Just that every now and then you get a seller that's a bit off on thier description of the item. Just be careful. And it's about the only way, besides a couple of other places, for me to get American Flyer items.

Chuck - I'll never forget nor forgive Alomar for what happened in '97.

John - Probably not going to the show on Sunday as I have to much work planned. Have a good time and don't spend too much on me this time!!!!

Don - My son's girlfriend in visiting family in Arizona and yesterday she said it was 98 degrees! That was easily doubled what we had here with the sleet and rain from yesterday. Maybe you can bring some with you???

Joe - Great game tonight, Kentucky v UConn. I'll be at my daughters party for this one. Looks like I'll see Ivan Nova v Scott Baker on Monday, could be interesting??

Enjoying the warmth,

Ray

8n,

I let it soak in Super Clean at full strength.  When I pulled the pieces out at 20 hours, all the paint was off.  If I would have read the bottle, I would've seen that it doesn't paly nice with aluminum.  The horn is corroded, but I needed to remove it anyway.

Mornin' All.

Great run at the museum yesterday, no April Fools Pranks by visitors or electronics. Had MTH RI E-6's w/passenger consist and an Atlas B&O GP-9 w/4bay coal hoppers running on the upper mains. Made Pepper Jack Cheeseburgers w/grilled onions for lunch, oink oink, hopefully the onions didn't chase away to many visitors. Smile, Wink & Grin

The munchkin spent the nite w/grandma & grampa, of course he took great delight in nailing us both with some April Fools pranks. Thumbs Up Da Boyz, grampa & the munchkin, went to the cruise last nite. Before parking & walking we drove down Grand to check out some of the cars, I have never heard the words "Awesome" and "Cool" so many times in such a relatively short period of time. Likes the Hot Rods just like grampa.
