Good Morning from Central Jersey,
Fife, My wife and niece ate at the Rusty Scupper last night. They said it was great. I talk to my wife at 9:45 last night and the 2 of them were going out. they seem to be having a good time. Thanks.
Pat, It was a tandem axle digger/derrick. they were in a switch station and ran into live 69kv. They blew out 7 of the 10 tires and the unit has to be totally disassembled and checked for damage as per the manufacturer.
Time to get ready for the safey huddle. I wonder what the topic is for today?
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Good morning all,
It is rainy in SE Indiana with temps near 60 today. Appraisals are done on dad's house. Kids will be here this weekend to go thru "stuff". Could be interesting. Hudson#685, do not worry about me overdoing it with soccer. I play about 75-80% speed as I do not want to get hurt or hurt any of the kids. Any collision between them and me is not going to hurt me. I always tell them it is not personal, it is just physics. However, there have been some times when a well placed (or perhaps misplaced) ball has done some serious damage as well as some occasional foot stompings. Now when my summer season starts with the league, that is another matter. Then it is full tilt. Worked on various items last night. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime and I can definitely drive. Hang to your hats though as the loop-de-loops and barrel rolls will be out in full force. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Aloha all. TGIF! Got up at 4 am to fix a leaking gutter that sounded like an echo chamber right next to the bedroom - but I'll take it over snow! Still suffering from the consequences of upgrading to Windows 7 at work. Jack, the CPD chief was not loved. Resigned on the very day his contract was up. Wasn't going to be kept. I liked him but he was ever the outsider (ex FBI) to the troops. Fife, are you sure you don't live in Illinois? Pat, glad you're keeping the martini hand warm. John, glad those workers were OK. Lost a friend who was training with ComEd three years ago today who made a mistake with high voltage.
Doug, thanks!

Mornin' boys. Very chilly 34 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Last night of 3rd trick.
Hudson - Glad I could help.

Lawson - Boat stays where it's at in the Bay. However, have entertained trailering a daysailer to some of the deep water lakes. We'll see.
Good Morning
32 and cloudy
A tiny bit of freezing rain just at rush hour turned the freeways into bumper car paradise. I stayed snuggled in bed with coffee, the TV news and the paper. Charlies picking up my scale Berk to run on Sunday at our last big train show of the season.....S.J.

traindood Good evening fellas and gals: Been away for awhile but her goes; Jr. calls me up friday last and says, "My sewer pipe is leaking! now what"? So I goes over and sure enough it's leaking like a sieve! On a late friday nite just try to get a plumber. I did the only thing a red blooded American could do; I swallowed hard and said: "Jr., get me the saran wrap"! Well let me tell you, it was touch and go for a bit, then suddenly the waste water(P U) stopped. Gloating with my success, i just beamed with pride: just then the oil burner crapped out! Holy moly gondoly!! Now what? Dug in again. This garl durned burner aint'a gonna git me! I exclaimed with renewed fury! Checked it out and yes you guessed it, the nozzel was clogged. Cleaned it out with a dress pin and presto were in business! Ever the resourceful and wise father, secretly patting myself on the back, i said "You still got it, you old dog"! Upon leaving #1 son asked me if i parked in the hole the township was fixing before the snow came, car looks kinda lopsided? YIKES! Sure enough, the front tire was flatter than a june bug on a wind shield! Only proves one thing, no good deed goes unpunished! Humbled once again! later.
Bundle up, fix an adult drink and get in some deck time. it works!

Obviously staged for the safety huddle!
Morning all!
Working from home today so Mrs and I can go to lunch together. I have a business trip that will take me out of town all next week - ugh!
Cloudy here and maybe some showers tomorrow. We need the rain. At least we are not having to wear any heavy coats now.
Been pretty tired lately. Still suffering from being ill last week.
Fife - just counting the days to boating weather here. I hear it is great sailing in the NC and Ohizo areas due to lot's of wind!
Have a great day all!

Don - I liked the fishing video. I especially liked the scene w/ the trolling motor.
Hope everyone has a good Friday!

Lunch time,
Quiet Morning. I am lucky that I missed getting on the accident investigation committee for the digger incident. It is being treated as a near fatality eventhough no one was injured. It all comes down to not being focused on the task at hand. It could have been a fatality.
Doug, thanks for sharing about the Great Grits Caper.

Good afternoon all,
I'm just about finished my lunch break. The day started of warm and the high was supposed to be in the mid-60s; however, the winds have picked up and shifted and it does feel a bit nippy out there. I am hoping to leave work early today so my 7y/o son can accomplish some hitting practice. He has his first machine-pitch baseball tournament this weekend. He is excited, but he has never faced a machine in a real game.
We have plans for a family game night tonight. I will grill Turkish-style chicken skewers for dinner tonight, and the wife will make couscous. I had some train time with the baby last night and I'm hoping for more tonight.
Traindood - I enjoyed your adventures in plumbing and heating story. My wife would have demanded I find a plumber once I mentioned saran wrap.
Question for all: What can I use to keep people in place on the layout, but not permanently? I will want to move them. Is there a putty or wax substance that will work well?
Good day,
Joe
Good TGIF Afternoon To Ya'll,
RaySP.......thanks for the compliment, but I find the more I learn about dogs and training my own pup the less I seem to know. I feel bad for your next door neighbor and I don't even know him. He is between a rock and a hard place with his dogs. I don't know how I could handle losing three of them. It is sad.
DonB......that fishing video was a hoot! Thanks for the link.
Traindood.......I simply could not stop laughing and shaking my head at your plumbing and heating plant escapades. One certainly has to be a McGyver in a pinch when owning a home. I remember one of my kids stripping the hot water handle in the first floor bathroom, about an hour before the entire fam damily showed up for Christmas dinner. Had to turn off the water using vice grips. No matter how tight I tried to tighten the set screw on the handle, the serrations on the stem were stripped and the handle would just spin. The wife was hysterical. But you should have seen the look on her face when she came back into the bathroom 15 minutes later and saw me wrapping the stem with masking tape, covering it with super glue, and finally jamming the handle back down on the stem. That sucker worked perfectly that evening and until we moved out several years later, but I'll bet the subsequent owners had quite the time getting that handle off!
SubmmBob.........I can recall yesteryear when amongst my friends the British sports cars were the rage, and the local mechanics were fat and happy with business. Austin Healy Sprites and 3000s, the Triumph TRs and Spitfires, and the MG Midgets and Bs. I learned to drive a stick on a buddy's Sprite.
JimSP......we miss you, buddy. Hope all is well with you on the home and train fronts.
HudsonJohn........with MA. drivers on the streets, I would never get into one of those service buckets. Those guys are brave! Need to wear a parachute.
SJ..........you are going to trust Charlie to bring back your scale Berk?
MikeC.....good luck with the sifting of the keepsakes with family this weekend. Keep a cool head and do your best. Emotions may be flying high and rationale thought may be missing.
Later, gang.
Jack

Well spoiled the misses today had appointment at V.A. at 9 am. and told her I wanted to be there by 8 am so I could find a parking spot. well what I really wanted was to goto the canteen cafeteria and have breakfast. she really liked that then this afternoon ( about 12:30 ) just before we went grocery shopping ( did some running around) we went into RYAN'S for lunch now she was really in good mood so I enjoyed the day and so did she I know I should of hit her up for some big train item about then but just let it pass figured it was a good day lets keep it that way
Did run trains some this am before she got ready to go and will run some more tonight. Waiting for someone to come and look at gas range I have up for sale.

traindood Hey Pat: Just a P.S. to my adventures in plumbing and heating: Licensed pro's came during the week and took one look at my saran wrap and howled with laughter. They also said it would never pass code! Jr's all fixed up and the world (my world) can turn again. Been taking your advice and spending some time on my covered porch with the doggies and alcholic beverages. Ain't so bad after all; especially when I am "comfortably numb". later.
Traindood missed this before some how
But just for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWnapx502uQ
Good Evening
43 tonight, expecting rain up to 1 inch by this time tomorrow. Charlie just left with my C & O Berk, I wonder if I will ever see him again....Banilla is waiting....S.J.
Don - That was a GREAT video, you made my night! My 23 y/o son loves to fish and when he gets back home tonight I'm sure he'll be on the floor like I was. I had to stop it 3 times, my eyes were watering from laughing, thanks!
Rt - you beat me to the punch with that youtube, it was the first thing I thought of posting tonight, but after reading through.......
John - I guess you don't have enough safety meetings????? Might I recommend 2 a day????? I'll be over this weekend to help you clean up some boxes from your house. I'm sure you have some you don't want!
Buckeye - Remember to build it 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high!
Have a good weekend all!

Hello all,
I've been like a long tailled cat in a room full of rockers. Not even time to lurk this week.
One of the guyz in the office fell on the ice last Friday and got a severe concussion. (there are only three of us) Saturday I found out one of our projects is in trouble and guess who was told to drop every thing and see what was going on. (I spent the weekend there) To top it off on Wednesday I was told by the customer to remove the Foreman.(from bad to worse)
I've got 60 hours in this week so far and at least 10 to go tomorrow. Sunday Mrs and I are hosting an open house for my folks 65th anniversary. (Guess how she feels about me working so much this week) I won't be working Sunday. Mrs bought most of the supplies this evening after work.
I'll try to catch up on the Pot when I get time. Sorry if I've missed any thing important. I'm off to join my lovely Mrs. in bed
Prayers for those in need.

Good evening everyone, was a long day as I had to cover for someone who took vacation, didn't work too hard, just a long day. Made some vittles for dinner and getting ready for bed.
With regard to the Great Grits Caper....that was fun to hear about. There has also been a follow up, but I guess there will always be more shenanigans. It was also a good with the Chief's avatar. glad the CTT folks let us get away with that one.
John, one of my best friend's father was killed while working for PSE&G. He was making a last pole run of the day and didn't put the outriggers out when going up in the bucket. Truck turned over and killed him. Happened in Little Ferry back in the 70's. The work you guys do is very dangerous and one small moment of a lapse in judgement can have dire consequences....be careful out there!
If we don't have rain in the morning, I am going to take the kids to a park and take some photos. More than likely, it will rain, so it might be a good day to work on the railroad upstairs.
I hope to check in later this weekend. May each of you see the blessings around you and be grateful.Dennis
PS: RT, we all try to get back to work before we should...it comes from the old work ethic that many these days seem to have not learned. We are providers for our families and the thought of taking a day off when not on our death bed just doesn't come to our minds. I do it too, but I also can medicate with some non drowsy meds and I wear a mask. Just remember to always wash your hands, keeps from spreading germs and from getting them. Also, keep your hands away from your face. A good practice for you would be to keep one of the non-water hand sanitizer bottles in your pocket. Anytime you have to touch another person at work, or even door knobs, elevator buttons, etc., you should just rub the sanitizer into your hands.
TCA#09-63805
AF53 Ray I'm big Floyd fan. I listen to Floyd quite often as I'm on the Putor.
Dennis we have bottles with plungers in them all over the hospital including in every room and just as you go into every space in the main building
Not much going on tonight talking to Brutus on messenger.
Hope all doing well today. well it was TGIF but its almost Saturday now lol.
been running the trains and all is well there.
Talk to you all later
Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,
The girls made it back safe from Baltimore and they had a great time.
Traindood, I just love plumbing. A friend of mine told me a funny story today. He fixed a leak from the tank to the bowl in his toilet. After he installed it, it would not fill. He thought that maybe he messed up the fill valve in the tank because it was old and he laid it on the side to clean it. He figured that he would clean his hands and then procede. No water came out of the sink. None of the plumbing worked in the house. He ran around trying to figure out what happened. He looked out the front and they turned the water off in the street for about 5 minutes. He could not stop laughing.
Doug, I remember reading at a safety huddle about that accident.
Dweimer, I remember that accident too well. It was a real shame. A lot of the guys used to do that to save time. Because of that accident, we retro fitted all of our aerial lifts with an outrigger interlock system.
RI Jack, We get hit often in work zones with police and attenuator protection.
AF53, Ray, I did you a favor and I got you $3.55 cents for all of that old train stuff on ebay.
Howdy guys - big storms in Saint Louis tonight! Found out I will probably be considered "essential" when/if they "shut down" the government for budget shenanigans, so I would be required to work for no pay until budget would pass and just pray they eventually decide to pay us. Oh well, I guess if it was up to me I would close the office and kick the plug out on the auto-payment computers and see how long those guys thought it was a good idea to close the government. I guess if it was their pay, things would already be balanced and done
Nice chat with RT, SJ, and Charlie - as usual. Read the new issue of Trains - some neat stuff about fast trains.
Traindood - ingenius solution and I think you should be proud of your stop-gap plumbing skills! Have a couple on me - in fact, Sam Adams for all. Or we have Ole Mills, Blue Moons, and Fat Tires. Turn on your beacons boys, gotta get out from under this storm and Mike is driving so it will be a bumpy ride!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
