Evening all had typed this all out once but deleted it by mistake lol. Well took wife out to Ryan's for her Valentine diner ( big spender here ) hit it at 1P.M. so I got the senior special for $5.49 including free drink. and $4.99 for mine ( no drink) as I just drink Water. Total bill $13.32 including tip.
Then we went to Micheal's ( for you that don't have one its a craft store) and she got a few things she likes and I picked up some ribbon ( floors for my Rail King Passenger cars that have seats) and some paint to paint the Walls/Ceilings/interior of same. Got the idea a couple of months ago from CTT article plan to follow some of his ideas and then some of my own. Plan to take pics each step along the way doing dinning car right now but hope to do all 6 1 by one till there all done with people and all. Will then publish on my shutterfly account.
think when I get to painting the maroon on the seats and all I'm going to have to mix and make my own as didn't see maroon at local Michaels and wal-mart and all don't really carry morel paint anymore.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Evenin' boys. Sunny & 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region ---> TGIF and it's 5 o'clock somewhere . Already have wifey's valentine present (so there won't be any fightin' over the last light-up rose at the CITGO come Monday) .
Aloha. A balmy 14 degrees.
Praying for you, Mike C. Yep, Jack, it was -27 in the city back in '85 - of course, it was colder out here away from the lake. I remember wondering if my car would start after celebrating the Bears Super Bowl win a little later. Roy, at least she had her priorities right. Don, Wow! DougDG, an owl picked up a chihuahua near here a few weeks ago. The owner scared the bird off. Got to drive into the city's worst neighborhood tonight for a fundraiser at my brother-in-law's school. I'm taking the old car. Hope everyone is prepared for Valentine's Day with something their bride likes rather than something you like

Good morning all, started the day with big breakfast. Had grits and eggs plus pancakes. Usually just have cherrios but needed a change.
Don, thanks for the photos of the store layout. That's about the best I have seen in a store.
No get together yesterday for Thursday group. Thought we might do lunch again yesterday like last week but did not hear from anyone. I called around but only got one guy and he already had plans. Finally heard from another guy last night but all we did was argue about politics. Bad mistake! Should no better. Trains are more fun to talk about.
Train meet at TTOS Southwestern Div. this coming Sunday. Table rentals are only $5 for a limited time but somehow I can't get motivated to sell anything. I have too much stuff for my space but everytime I think of selling something I get nostalgic over the item and chicken out. My collection is like a diary to me. Each item reminds me of some time in the past surrounding the aquisition of that item. I guess I have become a pack rat. I need to work up the nerve to get rid of all my old railroad related magazines too. I'm drowning in them.
Guess the Chief has just about finished housing his arsenal in the new walk in closet. Nice work Chief. If anything happens in there, you can always shoot your way out. Watch out for those Yankee's sneeking up to your front porch.

AF53 RT - Thanks for the info. Just wondering then, why would Ebay allow a buyer to have at least 2 shipping addresses? I've had success with my alternate address before. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Ray

well she says she's hurrying but you could fool me lol.
Good morning all,
A rare mid-morning post. First of all, continued thanks to all of you for your support. It means a lot to the family. Secondly, some other sad news. To any one vaguely familiar with the 500, "the" voice of IMS is no more. Tom Carnegie passed away this morning. He was 91. He had a voice that resonanted over the track. He worked there from 1946 to 2007. Two of his famous phrases were: "Heeeeee's on it" and "It's a nnnnneeeeeeewwwwwww tttttrrrrraccccckkkk record!". For those who followed certain drivers there was another phrase that was either a favorite or not: "Annnndddd Mario is slowing down". He still appeared at the track from time to time during May and worked the PA system. He was a true legend and he will be missed.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
A cold start to the day this morning, but it will hit the 40s this afternoon. I guess later on next week it will be in the low-70s. I came home to watch the two older kids so the wife could take the baby to a doctor's appointment. The baby may have an ear infection. The two older kids did not have school again today.
Roy - You are right. We had records lows last night. I don't believe our furnace ever had a break last night. The Super Bowl story was very touching, and funny.
Don Baker - Thanks for sharing those great photos.
It's time to referee the older two,
Joe
Hi GUYZ, again
Had to run to bus duty, so only get a sec to post.
BUCKEYE, looks like lots o fun tonite at Carpet Central.
TRAINDOOD, I too am a big fan of Jeopardy. Gonna love this match up I'm rooten for us HUMANS!!!!
DON BAKER, AWESOME!!! Layout.
MIKE C. Prayers for you and DAD.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Frigid Taxachussetts,
Temps dropped to 5 last night. And last night my "cold baby" wife, who has a temperature comfort range of about 1 degree, watches the overnight weather forecast, then proceeds to drop the thermostat temperature 2 degrees before retiring. The middle of the night fight for the blankets was on. If you can figure that one out.......
MikeC...... your Dad, you, and your family remain in my daily thoughts and prayers. Strength, brother.
DougM.......-21 at your place? Don's neighbor would have to move activities indoors at those temperatures, or something delicate might stick to the apparatus. Not sure what the all-time low temperature has been for Crystal Lake IL. But -27 rings a bell for me in Chicago proper all the years I lived there. In 1979, or was it 1982 I seem to recall a one week stretch where the high temperatures for the day never reached 0. What also sticks in my mind is the vision of my neighbors who had completely filled their garages up with useless junk, then had to leave all their cars outside overnight. The junk-filled garage neighbors that didn't go out and start their cars every four hours or so in the middle of the night could be seen each morning, haplessly standing there looking forelorn, with their jumper cables in hand, looking for help. The smarter ones removed their car batteries each night and brought them into their house and reinstalled them each morning. I think that at those temperatures any exposed skin gets frostbitten inside of 10 minutes.
Buckeye.......wishing you loads of fun with your grandson, running the iron on the Buckeye Rugrat Runner Railroad.
AF53Ray and HudsonJohn........what is the sense of shipping your trains purchases to each other's houses. This would not fool my wife: "Oh, it isn't mine, dear."
DougDG......I hear you about the varmint population. The pickings are so good for the owls, hawk species, cats, and eagles up my way that they all had to sign up for Weight Watchers.
Brutus.......that was beautiful, what Char did to your daughter with the old replay of the "next day" school closings scrolling across the bottom of the screen. Women seem to then spoil the fun by coming clean far too early in the process. The men would extend the fun. They would hold their cards close to the vest, let the daughter run off, call all of her friends in the excitement, only to find out she had been had by her parents.
Hudson#685 .......Navyjack, look at the bright side, you got a $16,000 deck for $15,000........ Thoughts and prayers for all in need. Keep Warm, John

Keep Warm,

NavyJack........John has a point. And the deck will be new with the ability to add or delete..... things you want but don't have or have but don't want. Maybe you could even work under the insurance settlement amount in a way that, for the new deck, could include one of those retractable sunshades with the drop down side screens so the bugs don't eat you up after dusk
Later, gang.

dougdagrump dbaker48: .Going to make a trip out to Hemet tomorrow to visit a not so local LTS. going to check out some landscaping ideas. Here is what is currently planned, (Remember, Civil War era). Don, That guy does some great work, assuming it is the shop I am thinking of. At our last B-B-Q in San Marcos he brought down an HO scale laser cut model of the San Bernadino Station, it would have been huge by "O" standards but this was done in HO.

Don,

Doug
Yep same guy (Bob), he no doubt is a Master modeler!
Appologize for the photo quality, there is too much similiar color in the background. Bob told me to build this station, he got the ORIGINAL plans for the station and then converted all dimensions to scale. (HO) Then has a friend that does laser cutting. Made all the parts. They made molds for the 4 domes in the center. The detail is unbelievable and even the interior is done. As shown the station is over 5 feet, if it was in O scale it would be over 10 feet long!
He has an operating layou in the store also. Below are some other scenes he has done.
Don
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Good Morning
Warmer this morning, 6 instead of zero. Going into the low 20s today. Charlie came by last nite to transfer some things from my old laptop to this one. Always good to see him. My only plans for today is our friday meal out. Chief I hope you didn't take all the SS money, mine arrives on the 16th but with medicare deduction I don't get much as its based on my federal pension.

A bit of news post-Super Bowl - such a sad story...
A woman had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As she sat down, a man came along and asked her if anyone is sitting in the seat next to her.
"No," she said, "the seat is empty."
"This is incredible," said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"
Somberly, the woman says, "Well... the seat actually belongs to me. I was supposed to come here with my husband, but he passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we have not been to together since we got married in 1967."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that, that's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative or even a neighbor to take the seat?"
The woman shakes her head, "No, they're all at the funeral."
Regards, Roy
Morning all off today.
Mike C. prayers continue for your father.
Not a lot going on today taking wife out for dinner for valentines day seeing I work monday and usually by time I get home and we got ready just too late to go out for by time got back and have to get up at 5:30a just a pain so we look for a day before or after to celebrate that I'm off.
Hope all having a good friday and better weekend. I will be working but its still a good day usually.
No trains last night but did run them night before and will today. Time to go make some breakfast.
Good morning all from chilly Dallas Ft Worth!
Record low yesterday at 15. Temps to go up today - 30% of patio deck around pool is still coated in about 1 inch of ice/snow. Might hit 50?
Mike C - prayers for your father, you, and your family. Hang in there.
Chuck - I am with you - early spring would be good!
Have a great day all!
Morning. 25 and frosty big time but foggy. Going to 45. 55 tomorrow and then 60 Sunday. Lunch meeting. Really slept good last night. Lucy did not get me up until 7:30. Now for some breakfast.

IIABSDISEI with temps near 30 today. Spent last night running after stuff for dad and other details. I really hope things get settled down. Wife's checkup went well yesterday. Going to take a while for this to heal, but there is progress. They are prescribing morphine for dad to ease the pain. I hope it works as it did little for me. Hospice meeting went well. I know it is Valentine's Day weekend, but somehow I do not believe we will be celebrating much. Both of us are too tired. I had a donut along with the regular fare for breakfast on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
TGIF....Looking forward to the thaw predicted next week.
Marx will be running on the Buckeye Rug Runner Railroad. The same one that is in this photo
It has been running for 55 years, so it can run some more.

It is a cold 19 degrees. Going up to 25 today with some sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then, I will relax and do some reading. Sure hope Spring gets here soon.

Hi GUYZ,
3 here but to get above freezing!!!!
BUCKEYE and CHUCK, TGIF!!!!
TRAINS TONITE,
STAY FROSTY<
Evening all!
Demay (Joe) - the news here today said it hit -17 in Enid last night and a city in eastern Okie hit -30, coldest temp ever recorded in the state. Ouch! Hope the little ones get well quick!
Starting to warm up here and will hit 60/70 by the weekend!
You can get American Pickers episodes without commercials on the History Channel website if you do not mind watching them on your PC (and you have a decent internet speed). Our AT&T cable service has the episodes a few days later under the Free on Demand section. CBS also puts all their good shows on the Free on Demand. Discovery Channel does some of their shows. Nice as no commercials or minimal commercials.
Buckeye - What trains will be running on the Buckeye RugRat Runner Railroad?
Don B - like the track plan. Have fun!
Good evening all,
It is going to be about 6 degrees overnight with subzero wind-chill. It will warm up the next couple of days and it will be in the 60s Sunday and Monday - this OK weather is crazy.
We had lasagna for dinner, and not it's time to enjoy a fresh batch of homemade banilla. I did not run trains tonight; been tending to under-the-weather children. I did watch most of Rocky IV.
Good night,
Jim - I miss those days! How old is your daughter? As for American pickers, I'll look out for that episode, they do have some interesting finds!

Buckeye Rug Runner all set up in the living and dining room awaiting the visit by the Grandson.
Icey cold here in Saint Louis, but nothing like you got in Chi-town, Doug. I think we hit 29 today? We are supposed to get up to 60 next week. teaching a small class at work this week and next; but, scheduled no training Monday so I can take wife to the doctor and Tuesday as she has dental surgery scheduled to cut out a broken wisdom tooth. Still watching The Cape on dvr, but I can't decide if this show is good or not as yet. The last episode I watched involved a fight on a train that was pretty well done.
Wife played a good joke on our daughter a few minutes ago. This episode taped during the ice/snow storms last week and has a school closing scroll at the bottom. Char says - LOOK! School closed! Daughter looked up in time to see it and jumped up. Then wife started laughing and gave it away!
Recent American Pickers had a guy with a big collection of steam engines, steam tractors, and some actual rolling stock and small locomotives - very cool
TARDIS is ready, Freddy - icecream would be great, so let's hit the road!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good Evening
wow -21 I can only remember one time our temp was close to that. It's 10 now going to near zero. Warming up to the 30s after tomorrow. Banilla is ready and rootbeer if you want some. Lionel beacon is on so come on by...S.J.
Aloha all. It easily was -21 overnight yesterday, SJ. Heck, it was still - 15 at 6 o'clock this morning. All without windchill. But it's warming up. Supposed to even hit mid-30s by Sunday. Folks will be walking around without coats - funny how the body adjusts. Lotsa troubleshooting today. Our network folks switched DHCP servers a few days ago without telling anyone - so for the past few days, all our equipment has been dropping off the network because of some timing issues with the dynamic IPs. Spent all day figuring this out without finding anyone who in five minutes could've told me about this. Ah well. Maybe run trains later tonight?
John - That would be a different Box Car that came today at your house. The item we were going to work on at your house came yesterday to my house. Again, the issue, I believe is with Ebay. They allow you an alternate address for shipping but, from what RT has said, (correct me if I'm wrong RT) is that Ebay doesn't always give out, as a confirmed address, your alternate one.
Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,
Decent afternoon at work. Temps are to go down to 13 tonight.
AF53, Ray, the package has arrived. What else did you buy?
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Lunchtime,
It looks like most of us are in a for a cold day and night. The good part is that it is not windy here and there is no snow in the forecast.
Navyjack, look at the bright side, you got a $16,000 deck for $15,000.
Don, great looking layout.
