Looking forward to doing the Landsacpping.

Don,

That guy does some great work, assuming it is the shop I am thinking of. At our last B-B-Q in San Marcos he brought down an HO scale laser cut model of the San Bernadino Station, it would have been huge by "O" standards but this was done in HO.

Chief, The gophers here are so bad that the only thing they don't eat is concrete, the coyotes disappeared and the gophers took over. The owls, redtail hawks and cats haven't put a dent in the gopher population. Most everything has to be grown in pots.

Need to head to the train room and figure-out what to pack for tomorrow.

Have fun all !

p.s._Watch out for frostbite in those extremely cold temps.

NavyJack........maybe I am out of touch with this, but $16K sounds a tad steep to me for a 14' X 35' deck, even built from scratch, unless it is contructed with composites.  Maybe the price is jacked for the tear down and haul away. Does this include new footings?  What material for decking and railings?  In my neck of the woods, the carpenters are pounding the pavement looking for work.

I would say so seeing that my sunroom (14x16)/screened porch (16x16) project only cost us about $35,000! Now a lot of that work was done by myself and family and friends.

---

The Q was out of town last night but I didn't get anything done in the train room because I watched Iron Man 2 with the home entertainment center set at 'blow the windows out of the house'! Big Smile Was lots of fun... the cats didn't even bother me... think they were hiding from the noise!

---

Don - nice looking layout!

Still clear and colder here by about 10 degrees, relative to the seasonal highs and lows.  Down to 12 last night.  Emailed Al Gore about global cooling, no response.  Might dip below 5 tonight and "snow showers" forecast for the weekend.  What are snow showers?  Is that like rain flurries? Good morning all,

It was -11 when I woke up this morning and the windchill brought it down to -24.  The kids do not have school today, but I will be going into work shortly.  We had blueberry-walnut pancakes and bacon for breakfast.

Good day,

Evening All !  Morning All !  (Tried posting last night, but the server was down.)

Had ANOTHER good day!  As Doug said above, we had a windy day. Kinda wiped out all the pool cleaning I did earlier this week.  They are a lot of Flowering Plum trees in the area, and it looked like it was snowing.  Now I have all these thousands of small white flowers floating in the pool.  Will most likely get saturated, sink, picked up by the vacuum and clog the filter again.  Weather report just indicated that we should experience 78 to 80 deg for the next couple of days.  (SubmmBob, better take your bathing suit and some sunscreen and start working on the tan.)

The Honda is still in the Car Spa going through all the treatments.  Bad news is I havn't got a quote yet on the cost of this stay.  I'm not sure I reallywant to know.  Did get another computer back today, had to reload the OS, and of course that required Formatting the HD.  So trying to figure out what was lost.  Only one more to go, probably Friday.

Thanks to all of you guys who made it last night.  Really enjoyed it.  Hope the Tardis didn't get damaged by the pole.  If however was driving was paying attention to the elevation and not just the circular pattern it would have helped.  She wasn't hurt but wasn't ha[[y about the wardrobe damage.  Probably should consider putting some TFR or Heat Sesnors for detecting close nearby objects.

Going to make a trip out to Hemet tomorrow to visit a not so local LTS.  going to check out some landscaping ideas.  Here is what is currently planned, (Remember, Civil War era).

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear, blue sky day. Sun is shining. Only problem is that it is 4 degrees. No new snow. All of that went south.

Not much going on today except the usual chores and such. Might do some reading. Nap later.

Chief...Now you can build a snowman.

Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

OH NO!!!  Chuck, STOP IT.  Suddenly snohio falling hard and everything is white except the pavement.  Angry

Going into the 60's by Saturday.  First blast missed us and now this sneak attack.  Well, drink coffee and watch TV.  Later, move all the rest of the ammo, gun cleaning supplies and etc to the gun safe.  All the rooms are finished.  That is after three trips to Lowes with bad rope lights.  Switched to a 3' florscent tube [the new bright kind] fixture over the door way.  Actually better as it lights the whole safe.

Coffee and watch it snow.

PS: Mike, hope all goes well with you and family.

Hi GUYZ,

Little warmer here at 18 to get to 26.  Colder tonite.

ROY, I thought TEXASS is suppose to be warm?  WOW some weather you got there.  Might be payback for what JERRY JONES did to all those ticket holders?  Now for the lawsuit?

Good morning all,

It is very cold in SE Indiana, but should get above freezing by the weekend.  Caregiver gave us full report on the first night with dad.  I think we have a good one.  Got some equipment for him to make life easier.  Very busy at work.  Not much else going on.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.  I spent some time looking at Lionel R-T-R catalog last night.  May get a Halloween item.

Keep on training,

Evenin' All.

Beautiful day here, nothing but sun and blue skies. Strong Santa Ana winds all day, still blowing tonite. Spent most all day pulling up brick sidewalk, gophers had it so torn up I was concerned about anybody trying to use it. Now just have to clean up the mortar that was chipped off, and see if I can redo the walk a little more "gopher proof". Should have poured cement and topped it with half-bricks.

Saw where Lionel has the delivery schedule up for the RTR "11" up, my halloween pre-orders "should" ship in May/June/July. WhistlingWhistlingWhistling

Freezing cold in Saint Louis and we had a touch of snow today - enough to close some schools anyway.  Kids were disappointed though, because teacher friend who would bring them home had meetings and they were stuck at school until almost 3 anyway!

Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayes guys, they are working Smile  Continued prayers for us all and our loved ones and friends.

Father-in-law had an angiogram today, due to some bad test results, but he is okay and no significant problems were found.  He'll get to go home tomorrow.  It would have been today, but the doctor didn't get the order done before he left, so he was stuck there overnight!

Had a great time at Don's last night - lots of fun and frolicks!  Tardis is ready and some pecan icecream will be great, so let's hit it!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Big news report here this evening. It turns out that in addition to the 400 fans who were turned away from the doors of the Super Bowl - the Dallas Cowboys couldn't get in either!  CowboyWhistling

Good evening all,

It is very cold out tonight, but it should warm up a bit tomorrow.  I shoveled out our driveway and back walkway to where we stow our garbage and recycling containers.  I spent about two hours finishing all the shoveling this afternoon and I think the wife was a bit nervous - she was thinking I might have collapsed Broken Heart.  It took me so long because of the drifts and the amount of snow the snowplows pile up at the end of our driveway.  Oh well, I enjoy being outside for a workout.

We had breakfast for dinner tonight: biscuits and sausage gravy and fried eggs.  I did not run any trains tonight due to the garage being cold.  I played Wii, chess, and Dominoes with the kids after shoveling duties.

AF Ray - OK gets a decent amount of snow, but not as much as I was used to growing up in PA.  I've only lived here about 18 months so I cannot speak about it too much.  I do know ice is a big problem out here.

Good night,

Joe

Good evening everyone.  A quick stop over as I am on my way to bed.  Had another long day of it as we had a few add on cases.  Not too bad, but it just makes for one tired puppy.

Brutus, great news on Char....hope she continues with as few bumps in the road as possible.  I think it might be time for a very special Valentine's dinner with your favorite lady.

I think Roy is sending some of his cold air our way.  Supposed to have some sleet in the morning, but supposed to warm up soon afterwards.  Car is in the shop and so I have been driving the old truck.  Kids are looking forward to tomorrow as I will be dropping them off at school and they love driving in it.

God Bless,

Dennis

RT - Thanks for the info. Just wondering then, why would Ebay allow a buyer to have at least 2 shipping addresses? I've had success with my alternate address before. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hey Roy:    just to opine on the faucet on north wall; had a similar problemo, waited till warmer weather and cut wall open to check pipes and sure enough copper pipes had swollen over the years, just about to break. sweated new pipes in and added drip$1****$2for winter. can be purchased at any home center but i prefer genuine plumbing store. regular valve but with a knurled knob on top to let out expanding air or water so pipe don't break. permenent solution is six feet of heat tape. As far as global warming goes, we are in an eleven year sun cycle which has just started. this is caused by sun spots, expect more of the same for the next decade. Geeked  like the OL' Perfesser said "you could look it up"   so much for global warming AAAALLL!!!!!    Laugh   now it' off to watch season premiere of   "Justified".  he's such a bad$1***$2 gotta love it! 10pm est.   later.

Sturgeon-Phish

Evening all

Ebay can be frustrating.  Right now I am fussing with trying to use a gift certificate.  AARG!

Anxious to receive the American Flyer #595 A-Koostikin Operating Tool Shed  I'll pick up the reproducer later.

Take care and may God bless

Jim

Jim,

Wow.  Congrats on that 595.  I've only ever seen one for sale.  Would a regular Talking Station reproducer work?  I remember that the original reproducer for the 595 had an exposed paper cone that is usually damaged.

Brutus,

That is great news about Char.

I've been sitting here trying to locate a new upper tensioner idler pulley for the PGT, which has been difficult.  None of the stores have a listing for it anymore.Sigh  I did find a listing for the pulley online for an 02 Mazda Millenia with the KL V6, so that should work...I think.  Need to start stockpiling more parts.

I am still planning on rounding the corners on the upper level of the layout, and hopefully it can be done in place.  I really don't want to take it all apart if I don't have to.

AF53 As far as the seller if he sends to another address other than the confirmed address hes not covered by ebay's coverage for the seller.

Well ( okay sj I know your not surprised) I decided that I don't want to use dept 56 buildings/accessories I have ( new in box) for the layout.

not a lot going on here tonight I have a slight sore throat on the right side i thinking it might be some type of drainage but not sure.

Okay guys I have had TMCC type engines about 3 -5 years but have not had a layout to run them and discover a lot of the little tricks like tonight I figured out from reading the instructions a little better how to set my engines to a max speed so they won't jump the track. Whistling seeing as a younger person I use to only know stop or full speed or at least as fast as I could keep it on the track well most of the time.

Hope all had a good day talk to you all later

Warning! Warning! Warning!

Now that I have your attention:

Apparently when you purchase from Ebay and you choose an alternate shipping address ........ I checked the "view order details" and I did nothing wrong. I've done this before and it went to the alternate address. I was having an American Flyer passenger station shipped to Hudson#685's house for some restoration which I can't do at my house. Guess where it went???? Well, I called Ebay and they said the seller has the option when they "confirm address" with Ebay. Since I've never sold anything I didn't know this. Soooooo I guess the answer to that would be to include the address in the "leave a message" area.Bang Head

navyjack - ouch! And congrats and good luck with your son.

Don - I guess the guest list was too small? Confused

John - Make mine Black Rasberry! Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief - How many relatives were in the croud??? (No really, that's nice, congrats)

traindood - You're not alone!

Joe - How often do you this much snow in Oklahoma?

Home all day today and maybe tomorrow thanks to my father-in-law during the SB game.

Hoping all is well,

Ray

Afternoon all!

Well we got a coating of ice again this morning, followed by about a half inch of powdery snow. Schools closed again. It is 20 and wind is pretty brisk. One of our weatherpersons tried to give a scientific explantion as to why we did not get as much snow as originally predicted. The science part fell through when he got into the "snowflake factory" that should occur in clouds at 10-15 thousand feet...that did not occur this time...

Sooooo - why is the ice melting like crazy? Is this a consquence of global warming where ice is not as tough as it used to be? Wimpy ice?

Annnnd - if we have global warming - and the North Pole is melting - where is all this brutal cold air coming from? Are the Russions somehow manufacturing it with giant air conditioners pointed our way? Inquiring minds want to know.

Anyway...Record level cold tonight.  I will be baby-sitting the faucet that is in the north garage wall again tonight. I clamped an old hair dryer to my table saw and pointed it at the hole in the sheetrock behind the faucet. Go in and plug it in every couple of hours - maybe I need a timer? Nah - better watch it so I do not burn the house down.

Stay toasty all!

Good morning all, not much to report here at the moment.  Quiet day yesterday.

Don, Man! that must be some shindig you are doing over there.  Fire trucks and squad cars!  I have not heard about any rain either.

Brutus, glad to hear Char is doing better.  Prayers for perserverence for both of you.

Chief"s armory er gun rack seems to be coming along well if he can get the dang rope lights to work.

Finally saw a replay of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.  Glad I missed it!  Wish somebody would learn the melody, much less the lyrics.  Seems like when I hear "Oh Canada" sung for example, they seem to get it right most of the time.  Why can't we get ours right?

later,

Good morning all,

It's a snow day for us: no work and no school.  It was 6 degrees when I woke up and the high is 17.  I have shoveled half the driveway so far and I am taking a break for some coffee and lunch.  We received about 13" last night and there are still some flurries blowing around.  The bad part for us is we get a lot of wind which causes huge snowdrifts.  I have one snowdrift in my driveway that is about 3' high and 4' wide - at least I'm getting a workout.  And I still love the snow which makes me an oddball.

John - Thanks for the note.  We will be fine; we stocked up on groceries yesterday and we have nowhere to go today.

Chief - I have not hunted out here.  I considered taking up bow hunting, but with three young kids I don't think I would have the time right now.

The kids are watching Little House on the Prairie, and it's time for me to see what's cooking for lunch.

See you all later,

Joe
