Aloha all. Back to work in a gloomy Chicago. It's grey because of the weather and the awful play of the Bears. Looks not too busy so far - I don't really need to catch up as I worked every day I was away. Chief, that fair sounds like it was a great time for the youngsters. I know my youngest would've loved it! Charlie, great video - thanks for posting it. Prayers for Mrs. Brutus. Hope she can come home this week. Daughter is home from college for a few days, so that's nice. Hope to run Thomas and his pals tonight while listening to MNF.

It was about 55 degrees when I woke up this morning and went for a run. Today's high is 84. It is sunny right now, but some rain show up later this evening. I believe it's supposed to cool down tomorrow - I hope so, it's October and way too warm for my liking.
I am work, but have time to post since one of the computer programs we use is very, very, slow. It should be an uneventful day here at work. I look forward to the Yankees game tonight; Petite is pitching and he has a great post-season record. I don't have much interest in tonight's MNF game.

Good morning all, Kind of a rainy day here and for the next couple of days. Makes good weather for running trains however. Five, count em, five Collie dogs next door look like a bunch of drowned rats with all that wet hair. They have dog houses but just stay out in the rain most of the day.
Celebrated my birthday which was back on the 13th along with my grandson who's birthday was yesterday. At church, the congregation sang happy birthday to him. They didn't know about me because I kept a low profile. We went out for a birthday dinner yesterday and returned home for cake and ice cream, I got a new Atlas scale GN box car, Railroad video tapes and a check from the wifey for more trains. Grandson got a game he wanted and a radio controlled airplane. Wingspan is about 48". It is a Piper Super Cub. Looking forward to seeing that bad boy fly.
Don, nice job on the shed. Looks real neat. Seems to fit in with things there in the yard. Too bad you didn't have room for a bigger one.

No wonder no posting from a certain guy. Be in morning for weeks.
Well, put up trail camera under shelter at cat feeder. I am feed up over 10 lbs of cat food in two to three days. One cat [maybe two]. Trail camera had 57 shots since Sat night. Got one and maybe two opossums and one racoon. The cat was there only a few frames. Moving cat feeder to garage [open two bay stand alone] and see what happens [might be a .17HMR thingy].
Off to County Commissioners by way of Northern Tools [got some nice things I need on sale].

Nothing new on the train front. I know that this will make the Chief happy, all that I have been doing is working. Senior leadership management still have not decided the fate of our shop. They thought it would be a slam dunk in closing but they have run into a lot of dilemas, for example where to get the work that we do done. This is all because it is a leased building and we don't have a building to transfer the operation. Snow: when it snows, I am not home and the Chief and my wife are real happy. A number of years ago, I worked a double, spent my rest period at the shop and returned home 2 days later. I arrived home wet and cold. My wife was sitting next to the Hot wood stove, all snoggled in a blanket and her first words were, my sister and I decided where we will go on the cruise this summer, Alaska. My reaction was, what are you nuts, why not someplace warm. It turned out to be the nicest vacation we ever had. We are planning on doing again this summer.

Chief - When you are trying to clear a huge crowd, the trick is to make every one leave away from the venue. We had to clear 30K cars a couple weeks ago for a Komen race, and everyone learned to make the immediate right into the closest lane. If you wanna go the opposite direction, go down and turn around...and wait. DAYTONA is probably the master of exitting a crowd. TEXAS Motor Speedway (Ft Worth) is the absolute worst.
rt - I good analogy I heard today was that the ravens' offensive coordinator had the keys to the ferrari, and parked it in the garage in the second half. Gotta get ready for the Bills.

Been kinda MIA for awhile, this weather has given me a case of the "blahs". Lovely weather if you are a snail or a slug, haven't seen the sun in what seems like forever. Drizzly, misty gray days, yuck. Now they are saying we'll actually have some real rain thru thursday.
The munchkin was here friday, spent the nite with us, so he and grampa got a lot of work done on the halloween layout friday and saturday. He had me working to hard, need to contact the teamsters. All the buildings are tested, placed, and wired. Got some more scenes to build and setup, fortunately I have enuff time to get them finished and do the garage decorations.

Stayed home today as I had taken a regiment of a new antibiotic while on the cruise. I now know of something I am allergic to. Have a rash from head to toe and all the dots have come together in one angry looking color. Just have to wait it out. Benadryl has minimal effect. Oh well.
Roy, I missed the post on what you are to be congratulated on, but by all means, CONGRATULATIONS!
Chief, good luck on your Varmint control...both 4 and 2 legged. It would be good if you were able to get those scoundrels on film, then there would be no doubt.
Wish I had some train related items to speak of, but have not been able to get back to work there. I do hope that by this weekend, we can make some progress.

Evening all trying to install TMCC in a older Williams trainmaster but having a few problems 1st and biggest don't have everything I need like wire nuts and good wire strippers but there doing. and no real instructions. have gone to site but this isn't normal engine as one instruction says On DC motor installs, attach the “common” to one of the motor mounting screws. Connecting to the chassis for “common” is not recommended. well only mounting screw on this one is from underside of the truck up threw the shaft and worm gear lol. Will be a good project. Theres not much for instruction. Chief may be calling you tomorrow lol

I was cold all day don't know if it's age or a sickness coming on. Finished my CTTs today got to pg 16 of the last one and knew without looking it was Norm's work. What a talent for weathering. Dennis, .22 Hornet, .22-250 or .223??? .17 is not stopping foxes unless heart shot or head. Hard to do when moving at over 100 yards. It took 3 shots at mine I shot over 100 yards. First one put him down but took two more to kill him [do not like to see animal suffer]. A small fox lying on the ground at over 100 yards is a small target in fading light.
Fifey, the clearing was easy. It was the getting there.
Well, moved the cat feeder. So far so good. Lucy and Finn chased something from under the shelter. Also some 1X4's had been pushed down. They could be living above on the tobacco sticks I have stored for "old time sake". Had a possum do that one winter [made a bed of pinestraw and lived there, no feeder then]. Pam saw pictures. Was two possums and one racoon. Only Nedles our cat. The other cat has gone.
Spent too much money today. Went to Northern and got some things on sale. Stocked up tool kit and tie downs for 4 Runner as I drive it alot now and tow with it too. Afraid I will be somewhere with trailer and need tie downs and they be in pickup. Funny thing. Been to Walmart, parts store, Lowes and Home Depot. Can not find a rubber trailer hitch ball cover. Bought three tennis balls at Walmart for $1.39. Will make one for 4 Runner hitch. Brushed it with my leg today. Now have to get the greese off of pants.
RT, if two can motors, wire one reverse from the other. If you don't, they will pull against each other. K-Line and MPC [motors in the trucks and motors on the frame] the black [or red] wire is + and white is -.

Doing testing w/ the computer types on site. A lot more "entertaining" than being up here and observing by myself. We are getting there, but will still prob get walked on by weather tomorrow night. Haven't figured how to re-program the weather yet.

Reading up on how to set up a block system on my layout design. CC is easier, but it's more money than I can really spend, plus for a 5' x 8' layout it seems kind of overkill. Dealing w/ the wiring setup in the block system is actually kind of interesting. I will be putting my electronic skills to use I think.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Tonight is the last regular season game for my soccer league. If we win, we get a bye in the first round. I worked out at the YMCA last night in preparation. Work goes well. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East". TBIL after the game and I left the keys for SJ to drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

haven't taken the time to post lately.
Busy week end. Spent Saturday helping put a new roof on nephews garage. In the evening I cleaned the track and prepped some engines for the grandkids visit on Sunday. The whole family enjoyed a dinner of home made ham pot-pie. Followed by train running for the grandkids. After a nap the Mrs& I put out some fall decoration in our yard.
One field of corn is picked with a very low yield. Only enough to keep for our use. We have one more small field of corn to pick. Hopefully it will cover costs. Soy bean crop looks good so far. 5000lb taken to the mill so far with (hopefully) that much more to combine. For the most part this will be a cash crop as we don't use much in our cow feed.
Brutus. Continued prayers for your family.
Phish. What backdrop did you use in last Sundays SPF. I'd like to find some and they look good.

Our outdoor fall soccer season ends the 31st, Mike. Re-read the latest CTTs. Ran Thomas and his pals last night instead of watching a bad MNF game. Lights and sounds are enough to restore the soul.
Morning. Nice fall day. Tree trimmers came this AM and did the Bradford Peartrees out front. Too many limbs and etc so I had rather pay someone. Slack day until Town Board tonight. "Kids" are out in the fence as the love the cooler weather.
Bob, the old sniper at work. Yes, a scope. Sctually I had to remove my glasses while taking the other shots. Sun was setting behind me and my glasses were "glaring" the image. Surprised I hit him on first shot.
Did a lot of checking on rifles and ammo last night. Leaning toward the .22-250. Savage has come out with a "cheap" bolt action called the edge. All reviews are great on this weapon.
Prayers for those who need it. One not mentioned on here but I know about.

The thunderstorms provided a great lightning show last night, and the storms continued all the way to this morning. It made me want to stay in bed, but I had to force myself to get up and go to the gym. I drove the kids to school because of the rain and then enjoyed some oatmeal for breakfast. I have a pretty full plate at work today, but will have time to take the wife out to lunch.

The rain has stopped and the sun is out. It has been a very busy day here. Motor vehicle accidents seem to be a big problem. We had 3 arrive this morning, with 2 being from the same location.

Think I have it but all wires under the hood here were black changed the 2 from middle pick-up to red as I had a piece long enough to do that but everything else is black may later on get some multi color wires and wire it to something I understand and can follow easily as all one color don't help you track it lol.
But think I have all almost done still need to mount speaker but need an adhesive for that as have to cut off the 2 knobs which your suppose to use for putting screws thru as they make it to big to fit in shell where I need to mount it. but it wasn't as hard as I was trying to make it guess should hook up a test track with TMCC and see how it works and all is fine. That will be a little later need to make something to eat hmmm looks like I missed breakfast will have to figure out what I want

Couple Fridays ago I received a call from The Q that her 525i wouldn't start. So when I got home I tried to start it and nothing. So I popped the hood to find the battery. BMW, in their infinite wisdom, decided that the everyday Joe isn't smart enough to replace a battery so they hid it! They were nice enough to provide you two color coded posts to use for jumping. But can't jump this beast with my battery charger nor the battery pack I have (not enough Amps), so I decide to back the car out of the garage so I can get some jumper cables on it... LOL... open driver's door, put car in N and start backing it out. Rear tires hit the driveway and it takes off! *** this thing is heavy! Well just as I realize I need to stop the car, the *** door catches on the inside of the garage wall between the doors... yeppers you guessed it... bent the door forward! So now not only do I need to get a new battery, but I have a door to repair! The Q was NOT happy!!!!!So in the morning The Q has the car baby towed to the dealer. Where she is told it will be $500 for the battery and between $4,000 - $5,000 to repair the door, and they can't do the battery without fixing the door first. She is then asked to 'review her customer information' while the repair rep goes to check out the car. While reviewing she notices a 'Customer Note' at the bottom which reads... 'NOTE! Customer is a complainer, discharge promptly!' Now if you know ANYTHING about The Q, and know the history this car has, you know she is completely justified in having complained to BMW... any how with her already being as angry as a badger in a fight with a polecat she didn't take this nicely. Needless to say we will NOT be going back to that dealer! So she has the car towed to another shop recommended by her father's mechanic. They get there and the guy tells her the battery is $175.00 (when The Q asked the dealer why so expensive she was told there was 'programming' involved. The shop owner told her 'like setting the clock and radio stations?') Then the door repair came in at $1,695... hope to get it back this Saturday.

Brent, the moral of the story is NEVER, NEVER, EVER take your car/truck to the dealer. They aren't selling cars/trucks like they use to, so they make it up on repairs!
