IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s. Picked up Roger Carp's 101 Postwar Classics book at Border's. Looks like it will be a good read. We also saw one of "my" soccer girls play about 25 minutes in a 3-0 loss. She acquitted herself well. Wife and I went to Pizza Hut after the game and then to Kohl's. Missed some of the early trick or treaters, but entertained several with the ghost in the attic and the Black Caver Flyer running in the front bay window. It was a good day. Watched "Desperate Housewives" and then played cards with the wife. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast. Today was the last day for the Cleats comic strip. Always enjoyed it as it was usually soccer based. TBIL anytime and I can drive. I am you with you, Dennis, regarding the image of SJ in a thong???? I hope everyone has a good day.

Cleaned the hanging gardens out of the eves traughs this afternoon. Yup, used a ladder - no accidents.
Won a Railway Express Agency boxcar on e-bay last night.

I returned a little while ago from taking the older two kids trick or treating. The wife and baby manned the fort and handed out candy. We had a great day today: wonderful church service; some layout work time; and then trick or treating.
Here are two photos of my son's robot costume. It was a crowd favorite tonight and at his school the other day. The pictures do not show the lights so well, but I think you can get the gist of his get-up.

Good evening all. Came back from "Candyfest" which is a community project our church does. They get thousands of kids. Includes lots of rides and games with a positive message. Fife, congratulations on your great finds. Sounds like you made out very well. You know, even with the large haul of candy our kids made, there was only one almond joy and they gave it to me. At the time, I was painting some scenery and I said to just put it on the counter. By the time I had finished, my bride came along and snatched it! ARRRGGHH!
I am taking off tomorrow as bride has some computer class she needs to take and I will shuttle kids to school, etc. During the rest of the day, have to bale some pine straw and hopefully get some more scenery taken care of. It has been beautiful around these parts lately, so I hope to enjoy a little of the day.

Just got back from trick-or-treatin' with Cleopatra. Her pumpkin is full...only 1 Almond Joy (whatupwitdat?).
Glad I went to the train show. Scored the 6473 Lionel Horse Tranport Car (earlier yellow version with operating couplers on both ends) for $11. I've been pounding the aisles at YORK the last several years, and hadn't seen one for less than $90. Now all the little one needs is the blue Union horse car and she'll have them all. Also picked up the Lionel Army water tower for $30, and 7 boxes of Life-Like trees for $20. Notta bad show.

boy this is great summer weather, 80s. My sons inlaws live right on the water in Johns pass Fl. The bay is the waterway to to ocean.
We are going fishing in the Atlantic tomorrow morning. We walked a giant flea market today, that was for the ladies but I did buy a few small things. U'all have a great week....S.J.

Good afternoon all. Bob and Rob,, thanks for answering my inquiry on the FA2. They are really nice looking engines and I am looking forward to getting them going soon. Did some rock wall building on the layout....actually, the wall is flat on the table and I have to add a few more scenery pieces to complete it. Then, I will mount it on the layout.
Pat, been there, done that with the antlers. One of the things we have to watch for down here as we are over populated. We need to cull the herd a little this year. We typically walk the fields to pick up sheds before the harvest. For what it is worth, some knife makers and also some furniture and lamp makers will pay money for the antlers to make things out of. The prices they pay are worth the effort. We low pressure tires, it doesn't take much to puncture the tires. By the way, we have had some folks here with some new medicine for BRD. It has apparently been a problem down here.
Jack, nice costume....does it fit his personality? We have a most lovable mutt but he does tend to get into some food he shouldn't have some times. Halloween candy may be a problem. Have to keep the kids from leaving it where it could be taken.
Ray in a thong....now that is an image I could have gone all day without having. It most certainly would get a response like "Boy, you ain't from around here....ARE YOU!" Now, if you come down and don't start trouble, they may let you alone. Hey, they let me stay. I have since married one and fit in pretty well. Guess I was just born in the wrong place.

A question for Banks, or anyone who uses large farm tractors. Have you ever been out bushhoging, Etc and have a flat tire from running over a deer antler (no deer attached)? Did that Fri. Naturally it was the big wheel on the back. Had to have the repair truck out to fix it. Remove tire, patch tube, remount tire - $209.00.
Yet, some folks think us farmers are getting rich!?!?

The wife and I had the family over for dinner and our annual pumpkin carving......two 25+ pounders and two smaller ones. The girls cleaned and baked the pumpkin seeds, yummy!
SIL coming over at 4pm tomorrow afternoon for the Patriots game. We are then having a whole bunch of folks and their kiddies over for kiddy trick-or-treating and dinner late tomorrow afternoon, a very informal affair. Choice of shepherd's pie and beef stew. Yummy! I think I will have our first fire of the season as well......fireplace needs a workout, and everyone enjoys it.
So our secret agent 0027, SJ, James SJ, has safely infiltrated across the border into the South on his way to Florida. Dem rebs are armed, so I hope his disguise (thong) keeps them fooled.

Jim....if you don't mind me asking, what is the length and weight of your 5th wheel? Do you need a transmission cooler, an auxiliary radiator fan, or a power steering cooler in your truck?
The past 30 hours or so have been pretty busy for me. Yesterday after work and dinner (homemade schnitzel), I took the two older kids to the local high school football game. It was our first high school game this season. It was not good for the home team, Enid High School, as Tulsa Union whooped up them pretty good.
I spent most of today carving pumpkins with the kids. I helped each of the older two carve one of their own, and then I carved the largest pumpkins with three faces: one each for the wife, baby, and me. Needless to say, mine is the ugliest. After that I took the two older ones for a brief trick or treat run at the mall. It was very crowded and we did not stay long. Tomorrow night is the big night as that is the trick or treat night on the base. I have to modify my son's robot costume a bit; somehow it is pulling his hair. I will probably have him wear a hat - simple enough. I will have photos to share tomorrow night.
I just finished watching PSU beat Michigan which made for a great ending to a terrific day. The weather has been very comfortable and that should continue.

The Hangover is great. That and Step Brothers are two of my recent favorites.
The 589 station showed up today, and I wasn't sure what to do with it at first. I got to thinking about what RT said about rebuilding it, and then went to find my Dremel. I removed the mechanism from the rough 755 and used that base to make a template so I could cut the hole in the 589 base. I need to find some machine screws to mount the mechanism, and it should be good to go once the rest of the parts get here.
Wonderful sunny 70 degree blue skied perfect autum day today.
Had to go into work in the morning, but spent all afternoon working outside. Patching the concrete on my front steps, put the bagger on the mower and bagged leaves - got a head full of leaf dust too. Took my wife out for a steak dinner tonight for a fitting end to the day.
If anybody has concrete patching projects to do, look for a Locktite product called Magna-Crete. This is some seriously cool stuff. It is a two part resin system that contains sand. I mixed some pea stone in to make it more like concrete. It works like mortar or concrete and you can mix it anywhere between self leveling and dry pack. Unlike mortar or concrete, it sticks to existing concrete. It sets up to walking duty in about an hour and a half. Gets stronger as it cures over time too. I was able to repair the crumbling edges of my steps without laying any forms.
Stopped by the LHS today. Lots of people in the store. Nice discussions with some of the HO guys. The store owner's son's surgery went well. He is back at school with radiation treatments starting this week, then kemo (chemo?) therapy starting in January.

We've had a couple of pop up campers over the years. Currently back to tents, but the ground seems to get harder every time we go camping. My wife is talking about maybe getting a truck camper. Hummm - swap a LS engine into my '72 pickup. Six speed overdrive tranny. Maybe a blower too? That ought to haul a truck camper around adequately. Could probably even run it on E85 so it would be 'green'. Would be cheaper than a new truck to boot.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Took it kind of easy. Did the housework and straightened up a few things. Went to a high school drama club that they were using as a fund raiser for a local family. Was a good program, but far too few people there. Going to watch one of "my" soccer girls play in a college game tomorrow. Parent of one of the high schools saw me in church and said their daughter was selected in some all divisional games in November. May have to make one of those.
Some good news. Sister's son is in 8th grade, but plays in HS band. They practice pratically all the time they are not in school. All the hard work paid off as they won their class in the state contest today. Very cool!
I had a bran muffin on the dining car for breakfast this morning. TBIL and I can drive tonight. I hope everyone has a good day. I see where Tony Kanaan is a free agent. That would be so cool if he wound up driving for Sarah Fisher.
Just got home from doing the communion services at Lucasville Prison, kids and bride at the last ball game of the season.
Jim T - Thanks for the congrats on the 271. I bid on the mint set but it is out of my reach. I've bought a lot of AF off of that seller and he always has QUALITY items, but he also knows what they are worth.
Laz and Dennis - The 5th wheel we sold a couple of years ago. I liked that camper. I lived in it for a year when I was assigned in Oak Ridge. The truck camper is SWEET, but I am going to sell it and get a 5th wheel again. We had planned on going around the country in the truck camper, then we got custody of the grandkids, so that fell through. The truck camper is a bit tight for the five of us.

Finally in after being a road warrior all day. Beautiful along the Chester River and the C&D canal. Picked up a pink flag for the little one, and got a free pumpkin in the deal (can't beat that!). Ended treck with slurpees for all. $5 buys a lot of happiness.
Came home to find newest CTT (Christmas issue) in the mailbox. Paged thru it and looks to be a wonderful read. A lot of "classic" trains in this issue, which I hope will mollify some
Zane show is at Timonium this weekend;may have to go tomorrow AM for a fix.
