Brent,
It's what we do. Did you get that TV for the Sunroom that you mentioned a while back?
Since i have the 332 done for now, I've turned my attention to a 755 Talking Station that was in one of my junk boxes. It is missing the roof, reproducer, record, turntable, and most of the windows. Also, the base has significant peeling paint and surface rust. I got an original record, as well as an extremely nice 589 Mystic Station which is the non operating version of the 755. The reason I went for the 589 was that the only parts dealer that has the roof wants $65, and I got the complete 589 for $40. I plan on cutting a hole in the base of the 589 to accept the 755's mechanism. All that's left is to get a reproducer and turntable.
Good afternoon everyone. Been busy. Finished work early then went and picked up kids with my wife. Went out to our favorite Italian place for lunch...YUM! Had violin practice with the kids as tomorrow is the program.
Watched Celebrity layouts with Mandy Patinkin on RFD-TV. Given me some inspiration to get up to the train room to finish some projects. I am very tired as had little sleep this week, so after a nap, to the trains I go.
Brutus, please let Char know that we are praying for her quick recovery and return home.
God Bless,Dennis

What a cold snap here! Partly sunny but we have sub seasonal temperatures. Several areas awakened to frost this AM but not here (yet), the first for most in these here parts. The temps reached the mid 40s here today. Lo and behold, the grass has just about stopped growing, so now comes the onslaught of leaves......80% still hanging on to the trees. The calendar for the balance of 2010 is filling up fast!
Brutus.....your positive news was welcome, and the prayers will continue for your better half. Hope your dad's knee is coming along too..
So Brent.....what do you buy a woman for her birthday, one who has YOU?!?!? After that everything else seems cheap and trivial. I suggest life insurance on the male of the household.
Dennis.....my theory is you got a bad batch of ice cubes poolside on your vacation, should have stuck to straight up or bottled beer. Seriously, hope the meds are taking hold.
Joe.....your temps have me hoping we get some real Indian Summer here.
8N......hope the wifey continues her recovery and your knee is continuing to improve.
Chief.....with neighbors like yours who needs enemies? We have a serious overpopulation of deer, so the bow season has been extended to January to thin things out. Anti-hunting crowd not happy......but disease and starvation is far worse.
Chuck......I didn't read anything to the contrary, so it sound like you were able to clean up your place sufficiently to rid the domicile of the evidence of the wild you had while your wifey was out of town.
Bob.....not much from you on the Corvair van project. How's it going?
JimmyT.....did your reconfig of the layout turn out OK?
RT.......hope your injured muscles are coming around.
MikeC......as Roseanne Rosanadana used to say on SNL, "It's always something.." My kids are in their 30s and the only things that seem to change are the cost of the debacles.
Fife......I think you should take us all on a sail to the Caribbean.
Laz......is your rifle adequate to dispatch your bear?
I need to go now to listen to more political lies ads on TV. As hot as this election run-up has been, it has gotten particularly ugly. The incumbants keep screaming that the sky is falling and that any attempt to change horses midstream will cause the end of civilization as we now know it. That might be a good thing.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Jack,
It is still in progress, and all I need to do is get some L brackets from Lowes to mount some supports. I tried to screw the supports in place from under the layout, but that is very difficult given their location.
RockIsland52Brutus.....your positive news was welcome, and the prayers will continue for your better half. Hope your dad's knee is coming along too...

Good Evening
sun and 50s today.
We had a nice outing, granny and I but a crappy meal at Logans, it sure wasn't worth what I paid for it. Banilla and lime jello are waiting for the Tardis...S.J.

Sunny and 70's deteriorating into rain showers this evening. Supposed to rain off and on all weekend.
My wife is out of her back brace this coming Wednesday, with a follow up visit to the doctor a week later. Hopefully, she gets released to go back to work.
My last PT session for my knee was yesterday. It is a bunch better. They had me doing leg presses & other strength type exercises. Glad the clutch on my Cobalt is not like the old bear trap heavy duty variety that used to be used on muscle cars - my clutch leg was wobbly enough after the exercise that a strong clutch spring would have resulted in black marks in the parking lot!
EF at work. We have had a guy visiting from Corporate helping us organize and streamline one of the skilled trades departments. So far, we have several new status boards posted - one more place to copy information that is already stored in two other places. I'm not sure how much input he got from the guys who will actually have to maintain the status boards....... He was asking me about what else was needed for the new product board. I told him that the board was a start, but what would really be useful would be a staging area to collect the new tools in as they are waiting for assembly, since production machinery is being moved into the area I had been using this weekend.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - the some of the things we do in American corporations is downright comical - if you stay in the right frame of mind.
All for now.
Good evening all,
I finally left work around 10pm tonight; there's nothing like working an extra five hours on a Friday. Fortunately the family and I did not have any specific plans. The wife made burgers and brought a couple by the office. She and the kids played Uno without me. I'm off to bed now. I plan to take the older two kids to Lowes tomorrow morning for the Build and Grow workshop. The kids will be building Halloween bats.
Good night,
Joe
[quote user="fifedog"Harold - I hosted Tiger cubs with fifepup, but it didn't last, as he wanted to get his black belt (ironically after a karate exhibition at a pack night...)
Fife Im hoping the boy will stick with it all the way.I left before making Eagle and do regret it.The girls are both scouts and enjoy it.Oldest is working toward her Gold Award and the little princess moved up to Juniors this year.Oldest is camping with her troop this weekend. Found out my high school auto shop has prostrate cancer this week.Want to call him but not sure what to say.Fund raiser on sunday afternoon to help with expenses.Really great guy so there should be a big turn out.Hpoe all is well with everyone and have a great week.[/quote]
Good Morning Guys!
I'm in Jacksonville to visit my Princess, should be here until Wednesday when I drive the Daddy Wagon home. And at 15 MPG, it's gonna be a costly trip. Weather here is hot and 80'ish nights in the 60's.
I couldn't catch up on all the posts from last time I read (like page 17), so prayers for those that are in need.
Fife - Sorry I stood you up yet again, I was exhausted after out 175th parade and anniversary...didn't get to bed until 1 AM and neded to roll out at 0500...
I should blow through your area again Friday and I have to be back there 11/4 for the actual physical test.
Much firefighting has been going on, been busy with that and the job hunt up til Wednesday when I flew into Jax. We went to Universal for Halloween Horror Nights XX and that was fun. Drove the wagon from Jax to O town and back. Promptly broke the shifter cable and repaired that fo $50. Thank goodness it didn't break in Orlando. The shop I'm dealing with let me fix the cable right there at no cost other than me installing the part.
Well, I'm off to bed. Stay well, and I'll check back later if I can!!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Howdy guys - wow, running really late tonight! Finally got the kids to bed and just finishing some southpark episodes from the dvr. Plans this weekend include some grocery shopping, taking the kids to visit their mom at the hospital, and paying some bills. Other than that, who knows - we'll see.
Thanks for the prayers again guys. Char is doing better. She had noodles and gravy with chicken today, so that is some real food.
Just ordered a layout planning book by a guy named Armstrong after reading an article in CTT - sounds interesting.
Tardis already took off on remote control to Mike's house. Waiting for him to pick me up
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 50 degrees. Going up to 64 today with a chance of rain.
Today is an easy day. I have the usual chores to do and then a Nascar race this afternoon. I think I will watch it from the train room. Trains are due for a good dusting.
Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Mornin' boys. A clear but chilly 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Hosting 6 little princesses tonight for a birthday sleepover. Should be interesting. Littlest received a cotton candy blue guitar (special delivery). She was excited, but a little intimidated. Hope to go sailin' tomorrow, as it's s'posed to be pretty. Sounds like the Phils and SanFran are having one for the ages, but baseball lost me a long time ago. Kinda cool the Rangers are in.
anjdevil - It's all good. Had you came, we were gonna go out for a sail. Instead, watched football. There will be others... How did you do anyway? I go for a "swim" test on the 9th.
RockIsland - Nothing I would love better than to sail down to the VI's, especially during that Feb-Easter time frame. Actually reading about blue-water chartering lately.
Morning all today is a very sad day for me and sure many others. Today is 17 years ago the #@^% car bombed the marine barracks in bieruit I was one of the first ashore there and I still see this quite often in my mind but next 2 -3 days is the roughest for me hope all have a good weekend and please as aways remmeber those who fell for us and those who are still out there defending our freedom and our way of life.

Hi GUYZ,
Frosty here today at 32! Love this weather.
Went tp BARRYs after school picked up fasttrack. GUYZ all welcomed me back and had a good conversation about all kinds o things from YORK to the economy. Nice time, came home watered the new grass and then started to lay a track plan. Pondered it for a while and still not sure o well. Fell asleep about 10 and slept great. Today opening of PHEASANT season, me and BRO going about 230 till dark then go for a ride spotting deer. Come home and have a fire.
Stay frosty boyz,
laz57
at that time rt, the seabees were ready to go. no one had the balls to do anything. i remember a political cartoon showing the wisconsin looming over the burned out marine barracks like a castle with her 16 inch guns at the ready. i bet you guys were hot. navyjack. bless all those jarheads
Good Morning
53, the sun is hiding, rain later.
I had too much breakfast, no more till the # 3 grandsons birthday party this afternoon. Everyone enjoy the weekend...S.J.
Good afternoon everyone! Stayed up late last night making a bridge out of one of the track supports I needed for the second level. I need to paint it and install it, but got the main work done. Kids have the production today when they will play violin for a play. Most likely will have to take family out for dinner to celebrate afterwards.
RT, I think it was 27 years ago. Had a friend who was stationed there in the Marines. He was a forward observer and was pulled for the Granada invasion. Left, the barracks were bombed, he finished in Granada and was sent back to Beirut. I think after the bombing, he stayed on the New Jersey.
Rich, Glad you are able to spend some time with the princess. Hope you have a good visit and a safe return to Jersey. And when you need a bathroom stop at South of the Boarder, it is located in the gift shop.
Chief, good luck with the eradication. I have been answering a number of questions by some of the guys I work with. They are interested in getting a shooting club together along with some reloading.
Won a set of ABA F3s by Weaver last night. They are custom painted in Lackawanna livery and should look good on the layout. I don't need any more rolling stock, but for the price, I had to bite.
God Bless, Dennis
Aloha from a somewhat-out-of-the-ordinary Saturday. Rainy day for youngest's soccer game. Then helped a stranded friend by driving him to the airport. Now on the week's chores. Maybe run trains later? Sad anniversary RT. Nice win, Dennis

Dennis I have the date right in my head just not the math it was 23 October 1983
Just doesn't seem that long ago but yes its 27 years realized my blunder a little later but wasn't able to get back to computor till now been a real rough day for me.
Enough of my rants guys sorry I know a lot of you have same type of situations or know someone also been there or in owrst situations.
Got my NYC PA-1 last night haven't test run it yet but its nice
Good afternoon all,
I took the two older kids to Lowe's this morning for the Build and Grow workshop. They built Halloween bats with flapping wings. They have been playing with them since we got home three hours ago. However, I just spray painted them black so they will have to take a short break until they dry. At least now they look more realistic and scary.
We will be going to a church get-together later on today. It will be at a couple's home who have enough property to start a great bonfire. Fortunately, the husband is a firefighter in case anything gets out of hand. It should go well since it rained last night and this morning.
With the Yankees losing last night, I will not be watching as much baseball for the rest of the season. I will cheer on the Phillies when I get a chance. PSU beat Minnesota this afternoon, but that is not too impressive.
Fife – Have you seen the Christmas buildings at Lowe’s? They are pretty nice too and could work with O gauge trains. They have a few buildings from It’s A Wonderful Life.
Good day,
RT no problem with the rants. We got your back any time you need to unload. A guy from my high school was killed there.I pray God can help you find some peace today.God bless.
god how fast 27 years go by. i remember i had a target hanging up in my office with a pic of gadaffy in the middle. on one wall i had a pic of pres reagans head on rambos body holding a m-60. on the other wall there was a pic of daisy duke. we were young men then rt...navyjack. now those events exist only in history.
Evening Fellas.Spent the morning building new shelves in the garage. Got two built. The lower shelf is 12 inches deep, second is 18 inches deep. Both are 14 feet long. Want to get one more 18 inch shelf built tomorrow. This allows me to slide the table saw up against the wall. Really opens up the garage!Got the last coat of paint on the end table's top. It will be ready to put in place tomorrow. Still need to get the rocking chair polied tomorrow. The Q wants to change the color of the powder room from a dark rose color to tanish color. Bought paint this evening to do that tomorrow as well. No train room work again this weekend.
Intermission...some movie with Victoria Justin? (nevahheardofher) has the she-crowd's attention. Okay, observation...10 year old girls don't talk to each other...they shout! It's kind of like a junior set of the "View".
88 - to the Q.
60s today but stayed overcast. We came home from the birthday party early as a nasty bug has attack granny. I hope it doesn't find me. Some good football games today. Michigan state won a close game and the buckeyes ran away with a win. Banilla is ready and the beacon is spinning so come get me. S.J.
Fife - her b-day isn't till 11/8 - but we have start 'celebrating' 2 weeks prior and for 2 weeks after. By 'celebrating' I mean Brent has to clean the house, make all meals, drive her every where we go, and start buying her gifts... wait a minute... the only difference between now and the rest of the year is the buying of gifts... So far I have bought the following - that she knows of - palm tree plant for sun room, pot for plant, rocking chair, new contour rug and small rug for powder room, new bath mat for master bath, hair dryer, autumn themed table cloth for dining room table, and a decorative mat to go under the center piece... guess I love her?
Good evening. Play went very well. Kids did a good job. We left afterwards to take their violin teacher to dinner at our favorite Mexican place. Was a nice day.
RT, you know better....any such rants are well tolerated, you are amongst friends here. It seems many have had such experiences, and all have respect for those who have.
Fife, if they are not shouting at each other, they are texting. We had a guy over who brought his teenage daughter and her friend while I fried his turkey for Thanksgiving last year. The two teenagers stood right next to each other texting to each other for an hour. Rude to say the least. Oh well.
Thanks Doug. For $80 to include all three of the set, and all three are powered units, I think I did great. For the price, I couldn't go wrong. I will see if I can post a photo of them when the arrive.
I am really looking forward to election day being over. All the phone calls are a pain in the back side. Each time we come in from being outside, there is another celebrity telling me how to vote, etc. With any luck, I will get to do early voting on Monday and be done with it.
Well, I had better get off to bed. Hope everyone has a blessed night and great day tomorrow. Early morning church and plenty of things on the to do list.
God Bless,dennis
Howdy guys - running earlier tonight. Nice chat going with RT and now SJ too. Spent some of my (early) birthday money - got a John Armstrong book, a C J Freezer (sp?) book, and another book on canals in England through Amazon (thanks Powell Books!). Also 3 more Bill Cosby cds, and a Sinatra album.
Took the kids to visit with Charlene in her hospital room today - she's not neutropoenic so she can be around them a bit. It was a good visit. It looks like she has another full week in the hospital at least - we'll see. Please pray that her extended leave gets approved again.
Nice weather in Saint Louis today, but don't know the actual temp.
Tardis is ready so let's hit the road guys!
