Good Morning,
Looks like another storm trying to come near Florida again from the tropics.
Dennis, thank you. I think that you are correct that Florida is a state that really took a very big hit in the wallet!! Almost every time I read something or hear something on the news, somebody is being ripped off down here in Florida. Criminals include politicians too down here, almost 5% of Florida's inmates were politicians who got caught stealing money or doing something else wrong.
I have a sister in Reading PA who has a daughter that is out of work and moving to NW New York state area with her boyfriend.
Sold off the RV we had in March, took a loss of almost $12,000.00 but at least we are rid of it. Also can procede with NACA program, as they allow you to own only one residence or house to qualify for help. If you own more than one residence or have a business building you don't qualify!! Not sure if an RV trailer would disqualify me or not, but got rid of it anyway.
I have seen model train prices go up very much this summer and would like to know what do they think they are doing? My opion is pricing everybody out of the market for new purchases. Mainly Lionel went up but also includes Bachmann's Williams line-up as well! Seems like it is a Sanda Kan or China distributor thing?

Aloha all. RT, my condolences to you and your bride. Cold and rainy. Opening day of soccer season and I am sick as a monkey on a banana boat. Huge cold I thought were allergies. So I'm flat on my back for the rest of the day. Not going to get to projects I guess. Bride took the youngest to the game. I owe her big-time.

Morning all. Cloudy. Need rain. Now we have tickets to see Garrison Keeler tonight at an amplitheater. Think we are covered but not sure. Got the Town's Mayor's seats. Thing is we need the rain.
Prayers for Lee and others.
Saw a thing on TCM this AM. About the Friendship Train right after WW II. Started in CA and we across the counttry getting food for Western Europe. Interesting. Saw big steam, F and PA units. Ended being pulled by GG1 [well was more than one train at the end due to length].
Later
PS: RT, sorry for the loss. Can be a real strong loss.

Phillyreading - ...just take care.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and cool 50 degrees. Going up to 74 today with a chance of showers.
Today is a busy day. I have some paperwork to do and the usual chores. Then, I may get a chance to relax. Nascar race tonite. Baseball is almost over. It has been "over" for the Indians for quite some time.
Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios reakfast. Then, it is off to "Points West".
Prayers out for all the 9/11 victims.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
9-11. prayers for all the dead and the families related to this great national tragedy. dont ever forget. hope pat is ok have not heard from him in a while. bet he is busy. anyone get any great train deals lately? anyone of our bro's who served in nam who has heart problems, can now file with va for agent orange as it is now considered presumptive. too late for me. everyone enjoy the day. navyjack
Evening all!
Just back from HS football game. It was a close one. Our school lead one of the top 5 teams in the state until the last 30 sec and then they tied the game. They won in OT. Too bad but our team felt great about themselves as it was expected that we would lose big to these guys. It was especially interesting as our team leading all game long kept the other crowd very quiet and we were at their stadium!
Hope everyone has a great Saturday. Prayers to all those needing them!
Regards, Roy
Prayers for jobs, houses, grandchildren, and for all our health and loved ones. Wife is doing a lot better lately and we expect she will be able to go back to work soon, on a part -time basis. We just have to watch and keep her anemia in control until her body is back to 100 percent
Joe - you gonna make a baked Alaska? SJ keeps that stuff frozen, man We'll pick you up first tonight, so you might be able to grab 2 bowls!
Signed up for 6 hours OT tomorrow and then we have friends coming over for dinner and cards.
Beacons on boys. Let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening everyone. Had a good day today. Picked up kids from school and then came home as both kids have a friend sleeping over tonight. Took them out for dinner and then they all had a blast with toys and such. Time for bed....we hope!
Lee, will keep you in prayer. I have a sister in the same boat up in NY. It isn't any fun. We are told the economy is turning around, but most can't see it. From what I hear, Florida has taken a very big hit.
Chief, another good rifle you have there. Have one of the general surgeons here who wants me to get back to reloading and doing the high power stuff again. He is trying to fine tune some of his rifles and wants to learn how we work up specific loads. I will have to get out my old stuff and get to it.
Well guys, tomorrow is a big day. Have plenty to do with the mission work, but also the memories of 9/11. Think we all need to pray for our country and each other. Too many folks seem to have forgotten about it.

Good Evening
Yucky 69 and cloudy today. 100 times better than winter though.
Banilla is safe in the freezer and I'm waiting for Brutus and the thingy..S.J.
Cloudy and muggy here today. Thunderstorms poping up tonight too.
My Alco B unit shell arrived today. That was the last of the major pieces parts needed for my all powered A-B-A project. My son was watching as I unpacked it. He expressed his amazement that parts like that are available.
Next step is to splice up a two motor chassis for the B unit.
Anybody out there got a brush plate for a 200 series Alco? One of the ones I have has a damaged brush holder, so even a damaged brush plate would probably have one good brush holder to salvage.
Prayers for health, employment, homes and family.
Later, all.
Good evening all,
Today I received an Ameri-Towne building I won on eBay. This is the first one of these type for me. They appear to be solidly built kits. I am going to start another thread to ask for some suggestions about painting/weathering it.
The wife and I are about to enjoy some decaf and relax together.
DJ Spanky - That's great news about your son's birthday present. I'm sure he will be thrilled.
Green97probe - That Mustang sounds very sharp. I hope the full-time job prospect works out for you and you can work out a deal on the car.
S.J. - I've been going to the hobby shops much more recently and it takes everything in me to restrain myself from buying something every time I'm in there. I'll be by for some banilla; I hope it's not burnt.
Good night,
Joe
Lee,
Hopefully, things will get better.
I've been wanting to post, but I've either been at work or looking for a real full time job. It seems like things are starting to look up in that regard. I went yesterday and checked out the 08 Mustang GT that I mentioned last week. It is a loaded Dark Candy Apple Red with black leather interior GT Premium. I will likely be going back to apply for a loan and see where it goes.
Lee, prayers for a resolution to your housing problem.
Navy Jack, hope your grandkids are doing better. Also you too. That Imodium is great stuff when you really need it. I first used it on a cruise once and the ships doctor gave it to me. When all else fails, that stuff seems to work.
Had friends over for trains last night. Lot of talk but not much trains. However that was good. We needed to catch up on each other's news. One buddy brought me two more victorian houses for my layout already painted. These are the ceramic buildings that people used for cookie jars but these are the right size for the layout.
Bad train wreck reported this morning near a rail yard where I used to work. One train was shoving a bunch of loaded gondolas loaded with pipe ahead of the engine and the other train was outbound in the opposite direction when they collided head on. Outbound train engine climbed over the cars loaded with pipe. One of the pipes penetrated the engine cab and pinned the conductor who's arm had to be amputated to free him. Don't know who was involved yet but it might be somebody I knew. I hope not.
I have to get back on the straight and narrow with my diet. I'm gaining too much weight. It runs in the family. Out of 7 kids still living, 6 of us are overweight. I'm getting a little short of breath sometimes. I have COPD but this might be aggrivated by carrying too much weight on top of it. I have a doctor's appointment later this month.
Have a good day all,
Ray
SPMan
Dennis & others, thanks for the prayers.
Almost 90 degrees again, looks like another hurricane missed south Florida!
However financial disaster tidal wave is sweeping most of Florida. Home owners insurance going up by almost 25% without any major storms in over 5 years. Just spoke to somebody I know from Lake Worth area, he was down in Fort Lauderdale and he said that one whole street he was on had for sale or foreclosure signs in every yard, looked in a few windows and NO furniture anywhere in the houses. Also my neigbor just told me of a housing development about 3 miles away that has 56 or more houses unsold, building contractor can't move these houses.
Three years ago, maybe more I spoke to somebody at a local hobby shop in West Palm Beach and he was moving to Arizona, said south Florida is too expensive to live here. The hobby shop closed a few months later.
At work the hours are being cut at the FL Turnpike, most people only get 24 to 32 hours if they get that anymore. My wife lost 15% of her hours at work, at the school district. We have NACA(the federal home save program trying to help us) and I sure hope they do something soon!!
Maybe things will get better for the winter as the seasonal people are due to arrive in mid to late October.
Hi Guys
Overcast and 70 today. Maybe.
I went to the train store with my friend this morning, so no burnt egg sandwich. I burnt a hamburger after I got home instead. lol No I didn't buy anything but it sure is tempting, got no more room for trains. Have a great day....S.J.
hello guys. when i got my laptop it had a 90 day trial with norton anti-virus. it ran out and i installed kaspersky anti-virus. ok so far. the grandchildren are still getting breathing treatments. they are better though and thanks for your prayers. thanks to imodium tablets my diarea is now under control. they should have used it to plug up the oil spill in the gulf. no more foreign food for us. need to find a place to get some good barbaque. dang it my memory failed......as pat would have suggested i should have had some grits. won a k-line crane on ebay. wife says i should not get small stuff so next time i will get an engine. maybe a scale williams gg-1. there is one now at a great deal, but just do not have the money. god bless all of you. navyjack
Aloha all. Cool here. Bad allergies last eve so in a bit of a fog today. Prayers for you, Lee and for Bank's son's job prospects. Look like the Sox' season is done - the Twins never lose.. Wow, Fife, a published photographer. That's so cool that I know you.
Woke up to 63 degrees, feels almost Fall like Maybe it will stay under 100 today!
Morning. Shower and shave and go to Raleigh to get flue shot. Includes Ioway pig flue shot. Then luncheon for all those in public service given by lady in Town each year on or around 9-11.
Congrats Fifey. Great job as usual.
Hope Bob is doing OK. Did not see a post yesterday.
Dennis, got a 742 in 30-6 for the big guys. The .243 is a great round and not a lot of "kick" in recoil. The rifle has a recoil pad built in. Very good shooter.
Have a great day. [Slipped red ink in Buckeye's printer at work ]
Good morning all,
Just finishing getting the kids ready for school: helping my 9y/o daughter pick out an outfit is not my specialty. The boy is easy: just throw on some shorts and a t-shirt. After I finish helping the kids I will go for a short run. It's a nice day today and now is a good time to run.
Fife - Congratulations! I suppose you will be sending all the coffee pot posters signed copies.
S.J. - I agree, the typeface is looking much better now.
Congratulations Fife!!!
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. "My" soccer girls finally won a game, 2-1, and it was on the road. The boys won at home 3-2. My first game could have gone better as we lost 8-1. I did play well (for my level of play), but things were a bit disorganized for us. I do know some of the players and I think things will improve. It was just nice playing in the fall. The field was nicely watered and soft to run on. The new conditioning program I am on seems to be working as I played most of the game and walked off under my own power. Prayers going out to those who need them (seem to be in particularly high demand). I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL and I can drive tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Great news on the train front: The Patapsco & Back Rivers RR (Elmer Hall) book just came from the printer's (GAZETTE), and 20 or so of my steel mill pics were published. To a railfan, this is as jazzy as having your layout in a magazine. Mr. Hall delivered my copy in person, and thanked me for getting the project started.
Morning all. Daily reading done, prayers lifted and breakfast over. Light day today, so I will head in later. Have a few birthday presents to pick up as son was invited to two birthday parties tomorrow. Good thing is that they are both at the same place, so we will bring him there then.
Plan for tomorrow is to drop off son's friend after the sleep over, then, son and I will head over to the mission in that neighborhood I mentioned last night. Stay there for a few hours and then to birthday parties. Will be a full day of things.
I have just been reminded that today is a day for donations for a child from our kids school. He has a disease that keeps him confined to a wheelchair and inside. They are going to build a addition to the parent's house for the kid to play in.
Hope each of you have a great day and weekend.God Bless,Dennis
It is a foggy 50 degrees. Looks like another nice day of sunshine and 72.
Today is an easy day. I plan on taking it easy and catching up on a few things to read. I will spend some time outside before going to PT this afternoon.
Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Friday.

I'll keep my font black on white. I do a lot of writing of proposals and reports. If I ever did one with red on white they would slap me silly.
