Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Sunny & 73 already in the Mid-Atlantic region. Waited at the slip dock yesterday, but Jack didn't show. So went to work, after I hurried back home for the uniform I left hanging up. Fifey-wifey home today, so I'm sure she'll find something for me to do. As soon as she sees me sitting at the computer, guess what area she has to clean...
Chief - That's a fine aviary you've constructed.
cheapclassics - Tellyawhatimagonnado... gonna help that open wheel series you like. Us NASCAR boys are gonna lend you DALE JR this weekend. Just prep a black car and put a "3" on the sides. The boy only has to turn one lap and park it, but the souvenier/diecast sales will keep that little series in the black for the next 5 years.
It's all about helping people.
Mornin' Fellas.OK... now this is going to sound really strange given my current state. I was given a Daily B&O RR Train Triva Calendar for Christmas. Yesterday they had a picture of 4 different lights used to illuminate the interior of passnger cars. Now I REALLY want to find 4 or 6 (not necessarily matching) lights that I can restore and wire to light the train room. Any idea were I might find such items?
Morning all
Chief - Did Lucy come home?
MAy God bless

88 - Are you looking for accent pieces, or functional lights? You can get RR lanterns at just about any train show.

DJSpanky Mornin' all! Looks like it's gonna be a hot one today, so I'm staying inside until I'm headed home from work. Saw my ortho doc today for my 6 week checkup - xrays and stuff. Everything looked good - he thinks the hammy problem was due to some scar tissue breaking away. Supposedly they go way up the hamstring when they disconnect the tendon for the graft. He says that should be the last of the problems I should encounter: I hope he's right.

Spanky, great news. You must be pumped! Sorry if I went overboard, was trying to give you some ideas or food for thought.
Brent.....you are alive, thank goodness. How's the healing coming along? Prayers for your continued progress, buddy.
Chief......aren't there pink flamingo zoning laws around Eagles' Nest? Bet your worry level hit max when Lucy came up missing. Glad to hear she found her way home.
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good night on the chat last night .... WELCOME ABOARD to a new passenger .... SPANKY ....
CHIEF .... I'll bet you were really worried to death when Lucy went missing ... I can only imagine ..
Still bringing more train items into the room to stack and sort .... hopeing plywood will go on sale soon .... 3 different plans layed out ... or a combination of all 3 ... I only want to do this once for a long while . Picking up a few more small items ... but I know there'll be more down the road .... Pretty much decided to do 2 different track systems ... one dedicated to TMCC and one totally conventional for my Williams' ....
CHARLIE .... will be looking for you tonight .... my fellow logging engineer ....
88 - Can't say I've ever seen those on a table. Perhaps jefelectric might have a source.
On the move. Meeting over and errand run. Grass to mow and trees and vines to spray. Then hit the road back to the lake house. Later.
BTW: came home and UPS was delivering a package. ??? It is my NRA Lifetime Member Minute Man statue with a big monument like thing with the Second Amendment engraved on it. Its big and heavy.

Aloha all. Sunny and pleasant in Chicago. Nearly everyone at home has strep, just in time for the weekend. I've avoided it so far....though it may be a good excuse for unlimited napping. Chief, that was a scary time with Lucy missing. We had a dognapping around here not too long ago. I thought I recognized the tower in your avatar photo, Rich.

We do here too. Not up there as everyone knows everyone and if someone drives in that does not live there, they are noticed. Actually those folks do not lock their houses nor out buildings [I do]. Actually Pam looked at a Yorkie in another town last week. Owner [supposed] said papers destroyed in a tornado [??] and no shot records. Pam thinks it is stolen.

Dognapping is not uncommon up my way but is hard to prove until/unless the dogs are eventually located, ID'd by a suspicious vet, or someone drops a dime. Some stolen dogs are sold off for experimentation or research, legitimate or otherwise.
We microchipped our dog, but I don't doubt for one second someone might try snatch him given the chance, even though he is a Doberman. Then with my luck I'd get a call from the police that my dog was recovered but that the perpetrator, now victim, will be suing me for "in abstentia assault with a deadly weapon" as soon as he gets out of the hospital and is able to post bail.

Spanky......bet Chief microchips the rascally beavers he has at his place so he and no one else can have them. When he gets enough of them through natural breeding expansion, he will open up a dude ranch of sorts for folks to come shoot them for a fee......thereby supporting himself in his "declining years."

I am too. Well, except Burg at 105. No one messes with him.
Meeting done. Lawn mower serviced [oil change, filter, air filter, blades and lube. Grass mowed. Whole garden has been tilled with one row tiller. Trees and vines sprayed along with garden.
Gone. May not be back until Thursday or Friday week. [probably will]. Crew coming Tuesday to finish porch.
Bye Bye, [may be driving into a severe T'storm]
Great news. Sir J. Well, I don't seem to have caught strep yet but am running around caring for others.
Can anyone tell me what is insulated track? Is it a piece that has fiber or plastic pins in each rail on both sides?
cnw1995,
I finally put up that avatar last week after a faceless 6 years or so on the forum. You missed my thread elsewhere on this forum where I was whining about how impossible it is to create an avatar. Finally got it up. Glad you like it.
Hi all !

Doug,
Insulated sections have a plastic pin in both ends of one of the outside rails along with cardboard insulators between that rail and the ties.
Today has been interesting. I decided to drive the PGT today, and everything was good until I got into the parking lot. As I was looking for a space, some idiot in a blazer backs out of his spot without looking and goes into the passenger side door. There is a minor uncreased dent and some small scratches, but no other apparent damage. The door cap, sideskirt, and window alignment were undamaged, so that is a good thing anyway. I called 911 to try and get a cop there, but they couldn't do that because both vehicles were driveable and no one was injured. I bought a Pops-A-Dent to try and get it out myself, but I have his info just in case. Why can't this stuff happen to the Sunfrie? With that, a Salvage title would be a blessing.
Rich,
Before I forget, welcome to the Pot.
Hello all,
Doug, and anyone else who may be interested. here's a link to some good Gilbert HO info.

Probe, Before I forget Kudos on your degree. What's it in?
Didn't take a chance on cutting Hay. Most of the corn will be in tomorrow. Don't like to do it but will probably be baling hay on Monday.
I'm late for bed, Nite

Work was work today - lots of rumors of changes, but we'll see. Killed zombies online for about an hour and a half, then had sandwiches for dinner and strawberry scones for desert.
Tardis is ready and i see a beacons all over the place. RT's turn to drive if he's not too tired!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Banks,
Thanks. My degree is in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Brutus,
Thanks for the heads up on that job source. Must have missed you on Live tonight. Check out Red Dead Redemption when you get a chance. I really really like it.
Sunny and 80's today.
Brutus - did you survive the storms last night OK? One of my co-workers went to St Louis to pick up his wife. He got to the airport parking lot the same time the storm did - so he sat it out in his car while she was still airborne circling until the storm cleared.
DDG - was that a young Jimmy Durranty singing 'I'll be Seeing You' on the VJ film?
Like Brutus - work was work. I'm picking up signals that some sort of change will be coming to our place too. I suspect a new department might spring into being, and I'll get a new boss.
For recreation tonight, I widened the driveway between the sidewalk and street by about a foot and a half by about 10 feet long. Dug it out, set forms, backfilled with sand, then mixed and laid six 80 pound bags of concrete. Got it done in a little over 2 hours. Who wants these exercise credits to shorten their run tomorrow?
All for now.
8N,
I didn't know Mr. Jimmy D. was ever considered "young". Maybe it's just being an old geezer but I enjoy the "old" music, who could ever forget "Goodnight Mrs. Kalabash, wherever you are".
Nite all, gonna be a busy day tomorrow.

Jim,
Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)
I bought a brand new car last year and proceeded, on Day 5, to back it into a 90 gallon garbage can at the back of my driveway.
If the body is dented or creased but the paint is not cracked or chipped, PDR is the answer.
Sir James, sending more nice weather your way today.
Hello all
Got down from the 'scope yesterday just in time to get over to get the engines. We were able to move both trannys and the parts of the disassembled engine, but did not quite have the moxie to move the assembled engine. Complete to carbs and alternator. A belt and a battery and we could have tried to start it. Ron owns an HVAC business and had two of his guys help me move the two engines this morning. I just wanted the complete engine, Ron took the rest.
Spent most of the day catching up on sleep and adjusting from telescope time. Got up in time for church in the evening. Neat service in conjuction w/ a Global Chant group. Spent late this evening checking out the new engine. Looks like I may indeed have a runner. Going to do a compression and oil pressure check tomorrow. If that checks out, I'll go for an outside the car start. I have to get up in the morning and go see Bill the guru of Corvair maintenance in Tucson and we will repack the axles.
8N - you guys built an interesting machine. Not sure I'll ever be able to work on water cooled car again
Rich-ho - welcome!
Chief - take care driving.
