 Good Evening!

Thanks for all the warm greetings, its OBVIOUS, that everyone is primarily concerned about my neighbors, as opposed to my well being.  Just goes to show how things work.  So being the courteous fella that I am, I went and checked things out.

It appears that everything is still OK, did find out that "the Mother" has recently moved in which could mean that some change could be happening.  I did manage make some arrangements for the "Tardis Guys", so load it up, and head out whenever your ready.  In case someone different is driving, (say Pat, Doug, SJ, Jack, or Jon) I also made arrangements for extra parking space.  (Just follow the signs like the one below.)

Had a very good day, and even very productive!  Thought I was going to get my laptop fixed tonight, but it fell thru at the last minute.  The new LCD was defective, so will have to wait for tomorrow.  But, that is still great.

Rich - The In-N-Out burger was recently deemed the best burger in Orange County.  They are really good, limited menu but high quality.  (BTW it was quite popular for quite a while their bumper stickers were very very popular.  It was simple, first line, "In-N-Out", second line "Burger".  As you would guess the second line of the stickers were modified, and appeared everywhere. (The B and R would be cut off) ).

Submmbob - Stand down regarding the allegedly windy condition, it was not significant, false alarm.  We got a light sprinkling and little wind.  Instead the whole area made the news as the Smogiest place in the country.  No question about it you have the best working conditions of anyone!

Roy - You've got to figure out a way of having some free time when you are out here.  Those trips are suppose to have some personal benefits also!

fife - The Oscar thing is all about a post Academy Award celebration.  What is peculiar is Chris is 20, and hanging out with a lot of the police and security guys.  And they are all buying him drinks all the time.  Seems like it was a good thing your Yacht wasn't moored down in Virginia.

Ray - I did look at the new catalog on line, (everything is either red or blue, due to my laptop), didn't see anything I need, so no intentions for now.  Glad Richard got some of his stuff back, and to think Temecula has been also reported as the most desirable places to live.  Ironic!!

Brent - Glad the surgery went well, hope the healing doesn't become painful.  For your own safety don't pay any attention to RT's talks about wiring projects.

I've been hearing about the "America - The Story of Us" series on the History channel.  Finally caught a little of it tonight.  Boy is it ever well down and informative, well worth the time!!

Later, made this too long again!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear and cold 36 degrees. Frost on the ground. Going up to 72 today with lots of sunshine.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I am doing a few chores around the house. This afternoon, I may run trains and do a little dusting in the train room.

Exercising went well in the Fitness Center, yesterday. I spent some quality time on the bike and the weight machine. I'm a little achy today.

Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Gentlemen, you are missing an obvious upside to the American Girl opportunity.  Getting wife hooked on this subject has many benefits.  One is that it simplifies Christmas and other girft shopping.  Just have her point out in the catalog what she wants and order it.  Two is that it makes train purchases so much easier.  If she objects, just mention "her" collection.  Ok, there is the cost factor and you have to endure the "How cute" phrases, but every silver lining has a cloud as well.  Scrimmaged at soccer last night.  Some good touches.  Will mow tonight.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL after yard work.  Don B, thanks for the added signage.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Smilegood morning guys.  saw a picture of rt's new chessie engine.  it looks really good.  i had to cool train buying for a while, my next purchase when it presents itself, will be a williams f-3, in illinois central orange and brown scheme.  i saw it as a boy and the train is real pretty.  (city of new orleans).  pat will like the song by ole willy.  changed my avatar to the patch of my last ship.  i was really p----d i found yesterday that my old ship was sold to taiwan for 27,000. real bargain huh?  taxpayer money at good use.   navyjack

Good Thursday Morning!

First off an announcement:

After an absence of 35 years, the Southern Division of the TCA is hosting a meet in the Jacksonville area.  The meet will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Orange Park, Florida on Saturday, May 15th. The hotel is located just a few miles southwest of Jacksonville right off of the I-295 bypass. The address of the hotel is 610 Wells Road in Orange Park. The meet opens to TCA members at 9 AM and to the Public at 11 AM and closes at 4 PM. Admission is $5.00 per Adult and children under 12 years old are free with paid Adult. Tables are still available for TCA members.

Though I am NOT a TCA member, I hope to be there.  I married and SWMBO has a tendency to change my plans....go figure Banged Head.

Sunny and not as cold as I figured, in the 50’s range so, though a bit chilly, my retired turnout gear served me well and I was warm on the Harley.  Up to 80 later.

Won a water tanker on the Chooch, should show up next week.

Princess got her 3rd making period report card..4 A’s & 2 B’s...thank God for this blessing.  AB honor roll!

Fife --- LMAO!!! LaughSmile,Wink, & Grin

Don & Ray.... I was in LA/Anaheim back in 1992, and missed the IN n Out Burger, though I DID get the T-Shirt and 2 Bumper stickers.  They sponsor a funny car driven by Melonie Troxel...and In n Out is imbedded in the drag race culture

That's wrong on so many different levels!Laugh

I got two tests out of the way, so that gives me a bit of a break.  Managed to get my first A in college in (and I am seriously not kidding) First Aid/CPR.  It was an easy class, and we even got to watch episodes of Rescue 911.

Good afternoon guys.  Bit tired as it was a late night and early morning.  Have an hour to kill and then I am off to KFC to pick up some dinner for one of the associate pastors for our church.  His mother died of pancreatic cancer and he is in the process of moving to a new house.  Then, it will be back to the movie set to finish one portion of filming.

I have seen a number of really great acts by some humble people over this past week.  It is refreshing to see.  I also took delivery of a Southern Tank car for my pike.  Wife just rolled her eyes when that showed up.  Not sure I agree with Mike, if SWMBO spent lots of coin on a American Doll, it would be my train purchases that eat into the budget, not the dolls.  Actually, my bride is great with projects and purchases, but she does like her furniture!

Hope everyone is doing well,

Dennis

Charlie, Sweet loco ! Thumbs UpThumbs Up

All packed and ready for tomorrow, trains in their tubs and chili simmering. Chef Still have to chop some sweet onions and grate the cheese to go with the Fritos for toppings. Dinner Hope Roy has a chance to come by before heading to the airport.

Later all, back to the kitchen.

ps_ Jim, I've got three of the upside down maters going, so far so good. Surprised they survived the planting, SWMBO bought them and when I say they were way to big that is an understatemant.  Banged Head At least I won't be providing a fresh "Salad Bar" for the gophers. Angry

Charlie - way to go!

Rich - sounds like a lot of fun, keep us posted and congrats on the kid's grades!

Wife likes to collect a few things, but we long ago decided on a sort of allowance system so we don't sit around encouraging each other to spend more and more dough!

Had a good afternoon today. Picked up my wife from the hospital, took her to lunch at the Saint Louis Bread Company (Paneras) where I had a mozarella and tomato sandwich, then went to Lowes where she picked out new lights for the kitchen. Guess I have some more work to do this weekend!

Doug - didn't set up the tomato hanger yet, although I got a metal pole with a crook/hook to hang it by the patio.  We decided against hanging it from the deck after all.  We'll try and get that set up between raindrops this weekend some time.

Tardis is ready and I hear there is banilla.  I have chips and salsa, so it will be a real party Smile

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 80.  Mowed the yard.  Wife swept the house.  After today, it is a four day weekend (Tuesday is primary election day and taking Monday as vacation day).  Weather permitting, reffing two games tomorrow.  Going to Bloomington on Sunday for family get together (Lucas turns 20).  I had english muffins with the cereal this morning.  TBIL anytime tonight.  Wife's finger doing better.  I looked at it for the first time last night.  Glad I did not see it earlier.  Ouch!  I hope everyone has a good day (especially SFR and AJ's team).

Keep on training,

Aloha from a sunny and very warm Chicago where I am back to work from my whirlwind 15 hour trek to O-hi-o and back to pick up the collegian. Silly me thought she couldn't possibly accumulate enough gear to fill the van as it was half-full dropping her off 8 months ago. Enjoyed listening to baseball on am radio and waving to the many OSP as I passed them on the interstate going exactly the speed limit. Saw lots of trains - coal, tankers, Southern: Serves the South boxcars.

The collegian must own every Amer Girl doll or accoutrement in existence in the mid-1990s - beds, books, clothes, not to mention the dolls themselves. I've stashed them away in case they're ever wanted again. The AG Store a few blocks away just prints money.

Jim - congrats on the A.  As someone who has the occasion to award them, that grade is well earned - nicely done!
Fife - I need a quick tutorial on getting rewarded for cutting the grass. Glad you're OK.

Smilehello guys, hope that everyone has a great weekend.  anybody have experience with williams f-3's? i would appreciate your comments about them.  wes i love your shays, but i do not think i could handle them without breakage.  my right hand is lame.  cant even hold a magazine. for the time being must stick with diesels and streamlined steam(do not have much breakable detail). received first issue of ctt in a while and liked it very much.  it is definitely the more professional of the mags available to us. my grandson loves chuggington.  he cant walk or talk yet, but he shows excitement and pumps his legs when the cartoon is on.  wife bought him an engineer outfit already.  i sent pres an email to keep good on his promise to help us disabled vets and straighten out our pay.  (so our disability from va is not taken out from our retired pay dollar for dollar).  if i retired from any other outfit other than the military i would draw both retirements.  (like mcdonalds ha..ha..  or civil service. called the disabled veterans tax. navyjack

Man I hope you showed that idiot with the knife what you keep in that holster ... and like REAL fast ! Be careful buddy .... at least it sounds like you saw it coming and he did'nt sneak up behind you with one .

Probe ... that's great taking the CPR classes ... ya never know .... you may end up saving someone's life some day . I think they should make that mandatory in all high schools now . My 2 cents  At times I've wondered why the old man upstairs kept me around .... then wife reminded me I have saved lives 5 times 3 from drowning and 2 from chokeing to death on food ... 2 grand daughters on candy I forbid to be in my house anymore ...  and you may too save someone .... no better feeling in the world .

NAVYJACK ... just found out the other day ... good old congress and a past president changed alot of requirements for VET benefits ... cut alot off and  and eliminated many . It was in that 1982 requirements change they started and told NO ONE about and 100's of thousands of vets lost benefits .... they did'nt find out until they now go to sign up for them . It was never released by news media , our wonderful elected officials or veteran's admin. to anyone .... just a big lousey surprise to all of us . Thank GOD you and I still have ours ... although less than we used to . They NEVER told vets they had to apply / re-apply after 1982 even though they were already in the system ...It's a  sneaking - lousey - underhanded hidden rule .... GEEZ .... would anyone think polititons would do such a thing ? SoapBox
