Evening all!

Hudson#685

Break Out Another Thousand.

John - That's a new one and I like it. I have a V-Drive 21' ski/wakeboard boat. Just hand over the credit card and smile.

Nice one here today - high 70's and will continue all this week. Maybe some sprinkles Tues/Wed. Nothing serious.

Wow Doug M - 2 B-Days and an Anniv in one week. the 16 year old with a new license will be the most expensive.

Hope everyone has a great evening and an even better day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Busy night at the 'scope. Closed and then opened again later due to wind. Replaced that relay we installed w/ my resistors w/ a 24V unit. Phase II works good. Phase III will be this summer when we can put it all inside a bigger project box and make it more accessible. Filled all three of the receivers. The wind chill has causing some issues w/ the big compressors.

Also got the Sakai switches working. I don't think they have ever been used before. They cleaned up very nice. I figured out what was wrong w/ the B side of the KW. I am kind of embarrassed but it was darn funny so I'm gonna tell you guys anyway:

I didn't realize the B throttle was on at the 10 o'clock position and off at the 8 o'clock position. Thought it was the other way round like the A throttleDunce. Says it right on the top too. I hazard a guess I'm not the first person caught by that. The D post winding looks to be open, but that's ok as I'm going to use it for the trains and not accessories.

I'll try and post a video on youtube of the 1615 pushing the snowplow thru the switches later.

Smilehello guys, it will be 71 here today.  old timer, i might be older than you so what does that make me?  i joined navy in aug 1 1966, straight to treasure island california then overseas. i did not get bullet though only agent orange.  laz57.....the running will do you good.  when i was your age was still in military, we ran 9 miles per day.  ran with the recon marines.  i remember the black sgt major, (first one in usmc), meanest man to other marines but treated us navy guys ok.  fife now i see why chief teased you about the yatchet.  it looks like a nice sailboat.  they need lots of care.  i worked part-time in  a boat yard in san pedro, california for clothes money for kids.  refinished lots of antique sailboats.  have great day guys. navyjack

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Computer power supply was on fritz when I first came in.  Busy with honey-dos last night.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning for breakfast after it rolled in from "Points East".  TBIL after "Glee" tonight.  Prayers going out to those who need them.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Aloha from what looks like a beautiful day here. NavyJack, you share a birthday with the bride who I'll be celebrating today Happy B-Day with all the (expensive) things she likes to do. Though Roy is right, the teen driver is the biggest deal. I'll come home early to take him to the DMV after school.  Why is Buckeye always greeting our smaller scale brethren in HO? Hi HO, Hi HO.  Wes, what a rocket!  You are doing the right thing prepping the room first. It makes a big difference.  Mike, you are right - it was Bugs.  Spanky, hope you're feeling better - resist 'scope creep'! or you'll never get done Wink

Sadsorry guys, i did not word that message right.  guess i did not drink enough coffee.  i meant it is 71 degrees temperature here today.  i am only 62 and my birthday is not till august.  i really appreciate the good cheer though,  but thought i should clear up the missunderstanding.  i will try to be more articulate in my words.  wes(old timer?) hope that you are ok and it is a bummer having to do all that painting.  the shays are worth it though i bet.  how did you get the mrs to agree to that?  tell me your secret please.  navyjack

Thanks for the "condolences"Sign - Dots  She's over 30, so a lil' TLC is to be expected.

I've not seen a spring as busy as this one.  We are writing proposals at twice the rate as last year.

HI HO, HI HO...............

Keep up the good work.  My SS deposit hits tonight at 12 AM. Approve

Morning all.  Slept late [Lucy woke me at 7:30].  She wanted to chase some squirrels from the bird feeder.  They have learned fast.  Use to they would sit in the trees next door and taunt us.  After a few fell to the air rifle and others got "burned" good, they run away or stick tight on the other side of the trees.  Fence keeps us from getting them.  Lucy is getting good at "treeing" them.  Guess I will take the air rifle to the lake and let her hunt some as no restrictions and fences.  She loves to garb them when they fall out of the tree.

Watched Pacific and cooked bacon, egg and toast.  Now to paint some more railings and posts.  OH, got to go to PO and mail taxes.  When you sell some property, have to pay 23% capital gains at my tax rate. Disapprove

Have a good one and send rain [getting dry here, just like the Farmers Almanac said.  Wet winter, early spring and dry spring.].

NAVYJACK,

HAPPY EARLY B DAY TO YA.  Yes I try to run at least 3 miles a day.  Been doing it for about 20 years now.  Knees sometimes really hurt, but I do feel good.  Usually take off fridays and sometimes saturdays, for huntin and fishin time.

Fifedog,

I could not resist a chance for some commentary about the last race.  You are correct.  Most NASCAR teams are based in NC, and if someone had not made a comment about someone else not posting since the Duke-Butler game, I probably would have let it go.  However since a Hoosier won the race, the timing was most appropriate.  I do watch NASCAR on occasion, but as you all know, my prime racing allegiance is to open wheel and to the IMS, which BTW, does host a fine NASCAR event as well.

Good morning all, Went for walk this morning and had a scare.  I was passing a lady walking a dog on a narrow path so I stopped and stood out of the way to let them pass (like a Southern Gentlemen should) and then after they passed me she fell down.  I turned around and found her laying on the side walk with a twisted ankle.  I helped her up and she seemed OK.  She was able to walk on it and continued on.  Thank the Lord she did not dislocate a shoulder.  That happened to my wife once at home.  Anyway, thats enough excitement for today.

Ordered some music CD's from a website I found last night of some vintage music from the good old days.  I ordered one of the items by mistake which turned out to be an MP3 download and I have no player for that.  Modern technology is a problem sometimes.  Fortunately the record company was very understanding and gave me a credit.  I was also able to add another CD to the order and saved on shipping.  It was a win win for both of us.  Nice to do business with good people.

I think I will break down and get a paypal account so I can buy and sell on the bay.  I used to buy from them for a long time but stopped when they went to Paypal only.  The local train meets are not very productive for trading.  Too many old geezers (like me) that don't want anything else or are just interested in the prewar trains.  I am only interested in the modern stuff now with all the bells and whistles.  I sold all of my truly collectable trains some time ago when the time was good for doing so.

Have a good week y'all,

Ray

Ray - You don't have to use Pay Pal on ebay. When you go to pay, and you do the correct clicks, you will have a choice of paying by Pay Pal or a credit card. You will have to wade through Pay Pal's propaganda, but it can be done.

Spirit of John Paul Jones was with me today. Pirate When WEST MARINE let me down this AM, went to my favorite pirate den, which had the exact fuel filter and neve-been-used housing I needed.  My partner had to stop by and help me loosen the fittings from the old housing, but got the new one.  No leaks.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 70.  Thought I would take it easy last night, but decided to get a hose reel to make life easier.  Three worse words ever written, "Some assembly required".  After getting it together, wife said it would not do what she thought it would.  I had tried to tell her that in the store.  One of these days she will figure out that sometimes I know what I am talking about.

Mike not a chance. There are days I swear my wife thinks I'm a dope.Oh well we do it her way first then I fix it later.

Good Evnin', Ya'll, From Crystal Clear Taxachussets,

Wife is off to the hair dressers.  Do I tell her she looks spectacular when she gets home or tell her she already looked spectacular when she left and looks no different?

Hudson....prayers for your buddy in ICU.  Sounds bad after this length of time.

Dennis......prayers for your wife's Ohio friend.  Way too young to be in this predicament.

NavyJack.....happy belated 70th B-Day then!  Happy B-Day

DJ.....hope all went according to plan with the repair of your joint (knee).  .Vicodin and percs.....Jerry Lewis' favorite appetizer.

OleTimer......when the Doc goes to lecture you, just tell him/her if it were not for people like you and me they would be unemployed. Laugh  On a more serious note, my sincerest appreciation for your service to your country. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Fife......nothing some green stuff can't cure.  Banged Head  Glad you are back in action.  Thumbs Up  When are you taking us all out?

SJ......so your lawn mower actually started? Wink

LAZ......hope your knees are not barking at you when you get to be my age.

DougM.....so how is it you get off the hook taking your wife out on her birthday?  My sixth sense tells me this "out with the girls" thing is a woman's trap.  At least protest and fight over her, then capitulate until she leaves to go out.  Resume the long face when she returns, the lost puppy dog look should suffice.  Make sure there is no evidence you had all that fun with the trains in her absence.  Big Smile  My condolences on the son reaching 16 and the driver's license event.  You won't see affordable car insurance rates for at least a decade or so. Laugh

Chief.....I'm STILL waiting for my tomatoes.  No squirrel carcasses, thank you.

Rich.....so how many speeders did you accumulate on the way back to FLA.?

Bob.......you've got some of us wondering if your scopes are spying on the AZ and NM female populations rather than the stars......

Later, Gang.

Evenin' All.

Back from the mueseum, no pile ups just some minor signal issues with the TMCC but the DCS ran great. Jon didn't make it in today, boy did he miss some Brownies. These things were a Choco-holics dream, you notice I said "were". Ashamed

Picked up an MTH L&N GP-7, finally found one at a reasonable price. Have wanted an L&N for a long time, I think of it as a tribute to my paternal grandfather who was a conductor for the L&N. Gave it a quick spin when I got home and the only thing I can say is Thumbs UpThumbs Up.

Happy B-Day to jack & jack !

Jack!  You know better!  You say something like "Wow!  I never would have believed that anyone so beautiful could be made even more beautiful, that hairdresser must be a genius!"  Laugh

Today was like Monday II - The Horror Returns!  So glad it's over.  Wonder what Wednesday will have in store?  One good thing, mother-in-law is visiting and took over cooking chores from me Smile

Fife - be sure to reef those tops'ls and trim that line!  Heel her over!  Arrrrr!  Avast!

Chief - sorry about those taxes.  I heard last week they want to add a VAT (Value Added Tax) here, like they have over in England.  I've bought things from Amazon.UK before and after Visa converts dollars to pounds, they used to then deduct out the VAT that I did not have to pay and the price would drop like 15 to 20 percent on a book or dvd.  No kidding.  This is just what we need to help our economy.  I'll get off my soapbox now Sad

Tardis is ready to go and Old Mills are ICE COLD tonight, so let's hit it boys!

PS - Happy Birthday to Kelly Murphy and the Jacks!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Another quiet night here at the 'scope. The wind finally died down earlier today. And due to the treeline, we can't go much below 15 degrees and at over 10K feet I don't think I'll see much of the local population.

I hooked up the Sakai switches to a loop of track this morning when I got off shift.  The 1615 definitely needs some weight in the tender for backing up. The Sakai switches are not as smooth as the 1122's but still interesting. I posted another video of the Mt. Graham, Arizona Eastern, and Desktop RR.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zvLhGrfkOg

Last shift of the week. Should be a fairly busy week off. Have to register the jeep, get the engine out of the Corvair, the Thursday evening service is back, and two training sessions (not flanged) for work next week. Plus more "socializing".

DJ - best wishes for a swift recovery! Hopefully you will be able to sit at the transformer console!

Good evening everyone.  Happy Birthday Jack and Kelly.  Was quite a day.  Went in early for a heart and then went on a scouting mission for movie locations.  Was fun, but my ankles are hurting.  Sir James, not to worry, no offense.  I will tell you that many folks are having to do "defensive medicine" in that they run a battery of tests just to make sure their is nothing, even though the patient has not had any complaints.  Too many jury awards for not catching something that was not at issue at time of appointment.  Another issue with some of the newer med school graduates, they are taught to compartmentalize issues and treat certain symptoms one way till that situation is exhausted, then, if problem still is there, they move to the next "box".  One example is like the case with John Ritter.  He was treated for chest pain under the "heart attack" criteria.  Then, after that was exhausted, they did a angio and found he had a ruptured Aorta.  Was too late.SoapBox

Fife, I like West Marine too, but as anything with a boat, it is pricey.  Glad you got the yacht in the water.  Look forward to a few photos of her riding the waves at sunset.

While watching the news, I see that Georgia has brought in a special AG to sue over health care.  The AG that is in support of Obamacare and is running for Governor this year.  Regardless of which side of the issue one finds themselves, it will be a mess.  Will be interesting.

Better head to bed as another long day tomorrow.  Will continue to pray for those who have asked.  I keep the list and remember the P.U.S.H. method: Pray Until Something Happens.

God Bless,
Dennis
