when i was on active duty in long beach, i bought a 67 camaro rs from a chief who was in the coast guard. it was an ugly green color and was all dented up. i think i paid a few hundred dollars for it. a technical school took on the car as a class project and for the cost of paint and parts, they cherried out the car and it was a canary yellow with a black top. i bought big tires and baby moon hub caps. it had a 327 engine and it was the fastest car in fontana ca at that time. wish i still had it. hearing you guys talk about your muscle cars reminded me of my one taste of one.
Good morning All
Cloudy with rain possible, going to 50.
Doug M. crabgrass killer now and then seed in about two weeks. Plenty of time for grass seed to take. Grannys at church but she whipped up some scrambled eggs for me to cook. No special plans for the day, take care all...S.J.

HI GUYZ,
34 and cool here but rainy later on. Yesterday cleaned work shop and train room. Was very dirty and threw out bunch of boxes and other junk laying around.
8NTRUCK, yepper I know the look. I just gaze out on the mountain when shes a talkin.
FIFE, CLASSIC absolutly. Grand Torino was very well done. Wish we had more people like CLINT.
Stay frosty,

Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Cold and damp here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Not too sure they will get an official race in Martinsville today. Speaking of things NASCAR: McDonalds just signed as a sponsor of McMurray (Daytona Champ)...could be big.
Wifey and I went to Harrisburg (again) for a log home seminar . Stopped by the Rockville Bridge for a few hours (again), then Prime Rib at Dukes (again). It was nice just spending time with her all day...kinda like a birthday.
Speaking of... Spank.
laz - Barber shop scene was an instant classic. (Gran Torino)
cnw1995 - Did the boys from KISS my Anthea show up at the fair again...? (Role Models)
Ole Timer - Good stuff.
Aloha all from a grey Crystal Lake where the youngest is going to Brunch with the Bunny with his younger cousins. He figures it's not the real Bunny who is probably busy with eggs these days but we've already worked out what to talk about with other little ones. I've been part of some wild egg hunts - with parents of kids with strong NY accents ;). John, I know you're paid for it, but thanks for all the tough work you've done restoring those damp parts of NJ. Jim, looking forward to the trolley shots. Bob, that's great that you found something you can cannibalize and actually use.Hope I can see the truck race. Off to church. Have a good day all.Any advice on overseeding a lawn? Not sure I can put down to the spring crabgrass killer and a bag of seed - I think one stops the other.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 44 degrees. Going to rain today. Up to 54.
Today is an easy day. The usual chores, and then, relax. I want to watch the Martinsville Nascar race from the train room. Need to run trains.
Pat..... Took your advice and watched the Truck race yesterday. It was good. I'm glad I did.
Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Good Morning and Happy Palm Sunday
Was real busy all day and today looks the same. This next week, Holy Week is a great special busy time.
Don & Wes - Loved the stories.
DougM - I put some trolley pictures in SPF thinking of you.
Well need to get started, I'm preaching this morning.
May God bless
Jim
Pretty good weather tonight, some winds, but so far below limits. Spent some time taking apart the old wiring from a rack we are readying for the VLBI run and scavaging the components. This thing dates from the early 70's when they were running the Crustal Dynamics Project, basically using radio telescopes to chart the motion of the earth's plates. Low and behold, I found some diodes that I can use in my battery eliminator. Seems interesting that something from the 70's helps rebuild something from the 50's in the 21st Century, for a geologist who works at a radio telescope. Go figure.
Don and Wes - great stories!
Chief - discussed w/ my co-worker and friend John (gun collector) the merits of your .17 caliber as I'd never heard of the round before. Very interesting.
On the hod rod front I've driven a few, but not owned one. I'd did have a 75 Cadillac w/ the 500. A heavy car (over 5000 lbs), but I still remember the first time I stepped on the gas after I rebuilt the carb and replaced the distributor (the weights were sticking). Wow.
Think I might clean and grease the Amtrak PA tonight and set up the loop in the shop again. Will try some more snowshoeing in the morning.

Had some good fortune today. (The OT worked out well.) In addition both my laptop and Chirs's have developed LCD problems. Talked with a friend and he said he would check them out on EBay. As it turns out 3rd party LCDs are available. One of the guys at the computer show , refurbbishes them, then sells them. He does very well He offered to replace both LCD for less than $150. All quotes we have received is in the $450 to $800 range. Great NEWs. !!!
On the train front, have a visitor coming over tomorrow afternoon. He previously ran HO, and has never seen anything in Command Control. Got the room cleaned up, checked out the engines, (Maintenance), and cleaned all the track. Wow, is everything working well! After I show him the "stuff", then have him run a "sequence" I have documented. It takes a Pass train, and runs a route between two stations, and then reverses and repeats the run backwards. Then the train is put on the siding for daily maintenance. The sequence requires quite a bit of switching and takes about 20 minutes to run. After he "finishes" I will show him how it is SUPPOSED to be done. I have recorded a Session for the same seqence, and will run it. Overall I believe it will knock his socks off! Should be a lot of fun.
Sure had a change in weather today! Was in the mid 80's, and very brisk Santa Ana winds. ( Westerly blowing, up to 40/60 mph. Warm air coming from the desert.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Don
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Neighbor mowed their yard today. Must not have anything better to do. Took wife to see "Wizard of Oz" while symphony played the music. She enjoyed it. Early birthday/Mother's Day gift. Also got to see Butler win while we were eating at the restaurant before the show. Did go to Train Express earlier in the day to get some standard gauge straight track I needed. Graham and Vitor are starting 16th and 17th tomorrow. Princess is 21st. Will Power is on pole. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good night all. Listen to Prairie Home Companion and then Back Porch Music on NPR. Think I dozed off around 8 PM and woke up a few minutes ago. Coffee maker ready and now to bed.
Enjoyed the reactions to the "Yankee Mom". It could have been a Southern one but there was no doubt in this one. Made me laugh as it was such a strong accent. Said to self, "Self, can't wait to tease my CTT buddies."
Sleep tight.

Good evening everyone, it has been a great day. Even with wife working, the kids and I had a lot of fun. We got up and played "Legos" with the kids. Then, after breakfast, we headed out to Home Depot. They were having some kind of 'event', and had a DJ, popcorn, hot dogs, bottles of water, flowers for the kids to plant and keep along with several crafts for them to make. I finished my shopping in about 20 minutes and we stayed for 3 hours doing all the other stuff. Kids had a blast, daughter even had her face painted. Then, we came home, kids took turns 'helping' me on the tractor cutting the rest of the yard. We planted a peach tree that we bought today also. Then, we burned a bunch of tree limbs and some pine straw. Finished working, make dinner for kids and bride as she came home just as I was giving kids their baths and now it is time for bed. We are all tired, but still, it was a good day.
Bride volunteered to work tomorrow as they are short handed with a full patient load. She was supposed to do the "we care" for church tomorrow, but now that falls to me. Hopefully, they will have a extra that can handle that as the director of media called me tonight and needs me to do lights for the service.
Rich, Tifton is about 20-30 minutes away from me. Next time, if you have spare time, I will buy you lunch. I will have to give you info to contact when the chance comes again.
Regarding muscle cars, I didn't have a real one. Did some modifications to a Monte Carlo I had back in the 80s, but otherwise, I was fairly subdued. Father had a 64 Chevelle with the 327 short block. Had a switch next to the shifter to turn out the rear lights when they would drag race at night. He also had a 58 Olds with a bored out engine that he used to race out on Long Island and in English town, NJ.
Time for bed. I hope that everyone is having a great weekend. God Bless,Dennis

Sunny and 50's today. Thunderstorm rolled through late in the afternoon.
Got the weed & feed down, spaded the veggie patch, hung a little drywall, shopped for ceramic floor tile, and replaced the batteries in the protable phone. Stopped by the LHS too. His Lionel catalogs have not arrived yet. Probably Tuesday next week.
Going to try to stay up late and watch the F1 race tonight.
Laz - your wife is only talking about curtains? I've got a bathroom project I'm still working through the details on, and my wife is talking about rebuilding the deck, rebuilding the front porch, adding another bathroom and a major landscape rework. I just give her 'the look'.
All for now.
Good Evening All
Never made 50, just 40s.
That yankee mom should have never been that far south in the first place, send her packin.
I have some banilla and home made apple pie. Hmm maybe I'll save the pie. Ok brutus swing by and pick me up....S.J.
ChiefEagles Started Easter egg hunt for 4 "levels" of kids. Over a thousand kids showed up. What a crowd. Only heard one Mom fussing up a storm about how the event was run. It was very definite that she was not from the South. Yes, she opened her mouth and YANKEE came out.

Don, the reason your wifey was sick for several days after the wedding was she realized what a mistake she had made marrying you. [tell her I said that, or I might the next time I talk to her on the phone]
Check out my post on the Lioenl CC2 steamer. Unbelievable. Lionel is not telling folks this before the buy them. I wanted everyone to know before they got into something they were not aware of.
Later.
Back from Medieval TImes. Couldn't convince my bride to wear her princess outfit from Halloween. Youngest dressed up and enjoyed it all immensely, and was very relieved when all the slain knights came back to life for their bows at the end. Quite the wedding stories, Don and Wes. Glad your son is still married. Roy, that's a heck of a wreck - thank goodness your dad was unscathed.
Putting in a little OT today, setting at the office waiting for a customer to come in, going to try and put a "hybrid" ink system in his printer. Waiting for him to arrive.
Wes, when you talked about wedding day snafu's, have to share;
We got married in 1979, after the wedding 3 different receptions -
- Primary reception, no problem and a good time, THEN.....
- At my parents house, while dancing one of the guests had a heart attack and died. (He was dancing with my Mom.) Bride and I left out of a side gate before all the authorities arrived. She had to climb a fence in the wedding gown.
- Go to her parents house and her Dad has a heart seizure, her brother was a paramedic and they resecated him almost immediately.
The next day we left for the Honeymoon to Northern California. Got 120 miles and stayed in a Honeymoon Resort, the following morning she was extremely dizzy and light headed. That day we travelled 30 miles, and had to get a place to stay. She was naseous and couldn't keep her eyes open. So while she slept, (all day) I took pictures in a neighboring garden area. The following 3 days she was a lot better, but not a 100%. Then we ran into a severe rainstorm that lasted for 2 days. Since she had some relatives from Wis. that came out, they went to Vegas. So I dead headed to Vegas, (seemed like the best option, since nothing else was working.) Got to Vegas for 2 days, and everything was OK. (Considering her parents, grandmother, and 2 elderly aunts were there.)
Then, on our 1st vacation, the night before we left, I went to the races with my Dad. One beer to many and I fell, breaking my ankle. 3 surgerys later, and a year in a wheel chair or crutches, finally got over it, for the most part.
Now its 32 years later, and everything has been pretty good, ever since. (Some people did tell us that we should have never gotten married.)
Morning/afternoon all!Sunny here and warm. Son has 2 soccer games this weekend - both at 3 pm so with travel kinda tears up the day.
anjdevil2 John, my '70 roadrunner is hibernating in NJ with my brother in law...another ex-Greenfield refugee, has been 99% restored, so what the guys saw oooohh 20 years ago isn't the same car..rebuilt numbes matching 383 and 4 speed amongst other things.

I had a '70 Plymouth Satellite, same car as the Chrysler Roadrunner. It was fire engine red with black vinyl top with the 383, automatic trans, and the Carter 4 BBL. I still have my gas and mileage book from it (a habit thrust upon me by the ol' man). 6 MPG on mid-test (maybe my lead foot?). Hated that torsion bar front end. It got totaled with my dad driving it. He was on the freeway access road by our house (Houston) and he got rear ended by one of two boys drag racing off the freeway exit ramp. Car went on its side, through a fence, and ended up in a neighbors back yard. The ol' man came out OK. The father of the boy that hit my dad dragged the boy over to our house and made the boy apologize in person. Don't see that anymore. Probably would be labled as child abuse.
Hope everyone has a great day today!
Regards, Roy
Ole Timer Son's wedding was great yesterday ... in fact I had alot of fun there . He almost had a panic attack I think .... this is one for the books ... everyone was in and taking pictures at the wedding ... they wanted to go to the park and take more with the lake and scenery .... well everybody rushed into vehicles and rushed over there . My son rode with his best man and buddies ... his wife was supposed to ride with her female friends and bride's maids .... she lingered to talk to new relatives and the girls thought she was riding with others ... 3 of them were blondes so they left ... yea - you guessed it ... everyone was at the park ... about 5 miles away .... and guess who was'nt there ... only one person ... THE BRIDE ! Left alone at the empty wedding ... by the time she walked up to where the maids had parked ... everyone was GONE ... LOL . I told my son that was almost the shortest marriage in history ... since she's a full blood Britt .. I told her .... there's an old saying over here " ONLY in AMERICA " ...

Great story, AH she'll have something to laugh about 50 years from now.
Blueberryhill RRGood Morning from Blueberryhill.... It is a clear 34 degrees. Going up to a sunny 60 today. Today is an easy day. Got a lot done, yesterday. PT went well. Using a cane more. Need to store the walker. Too easy to start using again. I think I will run trains this afternoon. No Nascar race today. Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast. Y'all have a great Saturday. Chuck

Hay Chuck, the NASCAR Truck Race is today at 1:30 on SPEED. Usually the truck race has more action than the Sprint or Nationwide races (in my opinion). I like Kevin Harvick for this one.
With the Sprint race tomorrow, and being at Martinsville, this should be a good race weekend.
BTW, you have the right idea. watching the races from the train room is the way to go. My problem is I still haven't run the satellite cable out to the train bldg. Got to get on that.
Morning..again
looks like 60 today and windy mostly cloudy
I have a seminar today and have to make a visitation...and it could be expensive...then church at 5

The Demon left me in 2002 during a divorce, I had owned since 1974..had a 360 manual automatic 727 ran 13's before it left..the engine and trans are in my Aspen station wagon...
I'll see if the bride is coming with me otherwise I'll head out on the bike.
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Nice and sunny here but cold at 29. Going up to 54. Not much happening today just regular chores, then off to church for Palm Sunday service then out to eat. On HBO is GRAND TORINO tonite so thats what I'll be watchin.
Good Morning,
A chilly 27 but a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore. The best part of today is that I have a the weekend off. We pushed yesterday to finished what had to be done. I feel sorry for the people that live in the flood prone areas of NJ, but I would have definitely moved or before buying, looked over the flood plain maps. As I was talking to this 1 Deli owner in Bound Brook, he was complaining of the flooding and blaming everyone for his problems, I politely asked him if he considered moving. He looked at me as if I was nuts, and went on ranting and raving how this is HIS HOME and no one can force him to move. I know that I will be back there for the same reason before I retire. Many areas that never flooded before were hit hard.
Rich, I spent many hours with "The Greenfield Boys". They asked me to ask you if that is a "Road Runner" or a "ROAD CRAWLER". What does that mean???? When I mentioned the Demon, I got a chuckle and some eyes rolling.
Spanky, the Camaro sounds like a nice ride. I had a couple Camaros, a 1969 and a 1971. Both with 350s and 4 speeds. Now I am a Tri-Five Chevy & early Mustang (Or is that RUSTANG) fan, I have a 1956 Nomad waiting to be rest-rodded when I retire. I am contemplating building a removable O27 layout to fit in the back after dropping the rear seat and running it off an inverter or remote generator when taking it to shows. I also have a 1965 Mustang with over 500,000 miles that I used to commute to work with that I just enjoy playing with now. It has a 289 with a 4 speed.
My main project for the day is to change the electric PTO clutch on my tractor and make repairs to the hydraulics (I thought that I saw enough of this) on my log splitter. My daughter is having 4 big oak trees taken this week and I do not turn down firewood.
My thoughts and prayers to all with problems and illness.
John
Good Morning
A cold start at 23 warming to 50.
I'm not sure about today yet so just enjoy your weekend.
S.J.
A quick Aloha before I run off to church small group. Taking the youngest to 'Medieval Times' today - an arena where they have knightly battles and they feed you. Tres expensive but he's thrilled. Looks like there was more hoops mayhem last evening. Have a great day everyone.
Good Morning from Sunny but cool Southern Ohio,
Lots of stuff to do today.
Laz - Be careful on the addition.
Another quiet night at the scope collecting photons. Re-read my favorite book on the transcontinental railroad.
DougM - I get to the other scopes once or twice a month, the VATT more often since our windbird is on there roof (but hopefully not as much now). We have a good working relationship w/ the other scopes and try to remain a team effort up here (it's a long way to the hardware store).
RT - someone's gonna be on the carpet for that little foray.
Well off to find a pillow after a train video.
