Got a tailgate full of turnips from garden and took to the pond for the deer.  Now I will not have to worry with them sprouting in my garden.  The little ones should turn under OK with bottom plow.  Rested most of the day.  Now for some chicken and rice soup [wifey made] followed by popcorn.  Never did get up to train room to run those new engines.  Later.

Good afternoon all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana, but there is a bright spot to the day.  Number 14 was on the podium in Brazil today with a fantastic drive from 16th to 3rd.  This is a great start to the season for AJ's team and perhaps they will get a win.  Watched that and then a tape of the F-1 race, won by Alonso. A good day to watch races.  I had a feast for breakfast: cereal, english muffin, bacon, a donut, juice and milk. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good afternoon everyone.  Was a great morning at church.  I was on camera for both the service, but then again for a Disciple Now program for the kids.  That part was very touching.  Some kids in their teens describing drug addiction, others from broken homes and still others victims of abuse who are forgiving the abuser.  Amazing the things these kids face and are able to get through.

Following services and then lunch, we went to the park and had a good time.  Got a number of photos from a old RR bridge near the park.  After that, we went to DQ for ice cream which I have not had in a long time....and it was great!

Have camera duty again tonight, so have to head out.  Also have an early morning with two big cases. Hope each of you is blessed this week.

God Bless,
Dennis

Chief, thanks for the pictures.  You're a handsome dude when you have your official ground breaking and cake cutting duds on.  I usually think of you with your grubbies on when I hear all your stories about hands on projects that you do with the garden, shooting range, lake chores etc.

Getting ready for church here.  Weather is beautiful today and just right for the charity "crop walk" that is taking place this afternoon to raise money for the needy and hungry people in the world.

Pat, I don't have anymore pets now because they do die too soon and I don't want to suffer the loss again.  Met a nice dog yesterday that was very lovable.  Her name was dolly and she was sort of a cross between a bird dog and something else.  Very friendly and loved you to death for just a little affection.  Those are the kind of dogs I like.  Not the guard dog types.

Have a good day all,

Ray

Afternoon all.  Took too much cough meds to stop a spell last night.  Then could not go to sleep until 1:30 EST.  Too until now to wake up good.  Got up at 8:30 EDT but reclinerized until now.

Thanks OT and Navy for the compliments.  I ignore the bad guys and their comments [jealous, that is all]. Wink

Happy B-Day Brent.

Speaking of dogs.  Lucy is a Habineese Schnauzer.  Hypoallergenic [guess that is how it is spelled] which means does not shed and kids with allergies will not react to her.  Loves kids but is an energetic thing.

Was raining this morning but sun is out now.  Better go to the pond.

May fire those new engines up and see how they run.

Thanks for the greeting Fifey, been a bit out of things lately 'Terminal Dandruff'.

1600 On a cold Sunday afternoon, winds have been blowing off the continenet for weeks now, temperatures consistantly 4-6C below par. Veering fron NE to N straight off the Arctic Circle. Too cold to let our brass monkey play out.

My grandma had a schauser - great dog!  When he passed, she got another just like him and that was a great dog too.  I would go for it, Jim!

Good luck with that cat, Doug - hope Kelly is feeling better soon too.

Laz - you are a dynamo!  I thought maybe you used those reclaimed 2-bys for your shelves, but red oak is very nice Thumbs Up

Laundry running - had natural bacon (smoked, no preservatives), some biscuits and omelets for breakfast ala Daddy.  Trains today and also zombies need killing.  God bless this Coffee Pot and all who sail in her Smile

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

We were "adopted" by an older female Schnauzer a few yeas ago.  She lived with us for 7 months before she died of an enlarged heart.  Hands down she was the best dog I ever owned.  She was always with the family, if someone was up at night she'd stay with them.  Always by the door to greet us home, loved car rides and made sure anybody unknown felt unwelcome.  She protected my daughter when she thought the princess was in danger.  We have cats, but I'd get another Schauzer in a heartbeat.

Dogs make great companions. We have had eight lovable dogs in our life time. They are all gone now. The problem is they don't live as long as we do, so it is tough when they die. Yours dieing in 7 months would be really tough. That is why we decided not to have a ninth dog. We have cats, but they are not the same.

I have a question, the kids have been wanting to have a pet and my bride have been thinking about another dog for a while and a wife's co-worker has a miniture schnauser they will give up.  They are a young couple with a newborn baby and they cannot give the dog the attention it needs.  It is two years old and housebroke.  Mary and I went to meet the dog yesterday, today we will see how the kids and dog interact.

What do you guys think about schnausers?

Smilemorning guys, hope everyone is ok.  wife is getting ready to go to church.  will have coffee and breakfast when she gets back.  she will bring me communion(she is a eucharistic minister), and we will have a good day.  i hope that everyone up in new york will be ok.  they have got bad weather i heard.  it is 43 here with steady rain, and all the piled up snow is gone.  i am hoping that several guys are going to come here today to let me see some of my trains run.  until then i always have youtube.  wife is cooking some egg-rolls and brats.  (weird combo- huh?) german-filipino all american.  wish all you guys could come over i would love to meet all of you.  wife has the best(decaff coffee) in northern illinois.  daughter-in-law(sicilian), gives us a real heinz-57 family, but grandson is so cute.  i would give my eye teeth for him. did not get to see him last night, but maybe today.  atlas engines look real neat.  very detailed, kind of like a giant ho engine.  you guys are lucky.  i am a postwar kind of guy when it comes to detail and features, but i appreciate the nicer engines, just personally dont have the manual dexterity to handle them without doing damage.  (a postwar steamer is more my type), old timer and other guys, you have a great relationship with your grandchildren too.  i am glad.  it takes away all the pain.  take care guys and have a blessed peaceful day.navyjack

p.s. chief those were great photos.  thanks

Her German Regular coffee is great to, as are her (and daughter in law) cookies. Bow

Aloha folks from a grey and cool Crystal Lake. So much for early church. Looks like I have to shepherd a group of Junior boys today. And they said I'd never be called as a substitute leader. LOL. Bob, I'll have to get that issue.  Jim, my only experience with the breed - they are yappy - which got old. Bride is under-the-weather so looks like I'll have to undo her latest cat adoption (which isn't going well) and babysit for the pastor's kids (and our youngest) tonight. Ah well. Installed the lighted watch tower last eve. Got to run the Brute at the LHS yesterday.

HI GUYZ,

49 and rainy yet.  Got to clean up train room today.  Take dog for walk then get a run in took off 2 days and my body is telling me to run some, so east 2 miles will be good.

OLE TIMER, yepper put in the peel and stick lites in display cases.  I wired 4 per case, each case is 40 inches and there are 4 cases.  I have them all together for 160 inches, so you can put a passenger train in it with engine and tender.  I used a CW80 watt transformer to eluminate the case, just a soft glow not harsh, looks cool when running trains.  I will post pics later.  It took me longer to do all the wiring then it did to build the cases.  I used cope and sticker joints and made them all out of red oak.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Another quick drop off before going.  Several folks have had thoughts of purchasing new starter sets and others will find some good deals at Hobby Lobby if they use the 40% coupon.  Here is the link to the coupon for this week.  I don't use the ON-Line version, but you can click the button and get the printable one to bring into the store.

Morning guys.  Getting ready for morning church.  This week, I can eat before Sunday School, which to a Baptist, is important.  Kind of like the story about children who were encouraged by their teacher to bring something representative of their religion.  Susie, a Catholic, says "I'm Catholic and I brought Rosary Beads", Johnny says "I am Baptist, and I brought a fork".

Got my Legacy set in, but I have a little scenic work to do and to get that adapter cable in.  Hope to at least take it for a test drive this week.

Good Morning all

Od Timer - I agree!  Grandkids are the reward for having kids!  This weekend the grand kids are saying with the other set of Grandparents and I miss 'em an hour after they are gone.

Going to be a busy day, dedicating and blessing a new Baptismal Fontat one of the Churches.  One of the members of the parish build it and we installed it Friday and Saturday.

Got to go May God bless

Just closed up due to high winds and frost. Spent some time painting the "perch" for the windbird. Assembled the snowshoes. Planning to try them out this morning unless the weather is too bad. Also snow-sealed the boots. Even though I'll probably wear the LaCrosse overboots they needed it anyway. Trying to make this set of workboots last a bit longer since I'm spending a lot of money on corvair parts.

Doug M - a few Chicago related items in the most recent Trains, especially a nice photo at the LaSalle Street station.

Chief - shouldn't the cake be at the dedication ceremony rather than the ground breaking ceremony? Gives a little incentive to get the job done:)

No train time yet this week. Been focusing on the windbird as next Wed. is maintenance and it goes back up then. Thinking about bringing Grandad's Japanese tinplate set up here. There are times when it would be good to run something around a track. Well off to test the bird in the shop. Too bad I couldn't put it outside, we just got a 35mph gust.
