Morning....Banged Head

Had a lousy night last night, couldn’t sleep...those morons behind us partied until 4AM, still couldn’t sleep after...running on ooooh, 3 hours rest right now.

Devils Sweep the season series of those Pesky Penguins...and did it in retro jersey style.  Gotta love that.  They now share the Atlantic Division lead...

Not much on the train front right now, bank empty, waiting for a refill, so I’m hangin’ in there.

Got some disturbing news yesterday, one of my friends from the Hemi Owners club died of an apparent heart attack.  Great guy and friend, I know his wife as well, from the early days...MATCO tool guy.  Leaves his wife and 2 teenage sons at 54...We lost another great guy....so sad...I barely can believe it (yup, my age as well). Angel

Angel for us and our intentions....we are all blessed.

Aloha. Another beauty day here in Illinois. Good Irish meal last evening.  Happy B-Day to 8n on your real bday. LOL. Not too much work today - first soccer practice for the wee lad later. Hopefully some 'puttering around' time too - looks like snow this weekend.

Morning.  Woke up at 5:45.  Got up and ate some breakfast and drank two cups of coffee.  Watched DVD'd Top Sniper and then reclinerized.  Just woke up again.  Cloudy and warm.  Might get some "spits" that were NOT forecasted last night at 11 PM.  I am now going to stop calling it weather forecasting but weather guessing.   Going to get 5X8 metal trailer Tractor Supply has on sale [$100 off].  Going to the gym.  Got ribbon cutting at 1 PM tomorrow and all are then leaving for the lake.  Middle to high 70's all weekend.

Hey, night take new engines out of boxes and setup in Legacy.  [about time]

PS: Mike, does that mean you are helping manage the handing out of AIDS [HIV]. Shock  Just joking .  Congrats man.  That is great.  I know how it is to work under astreesful situation and then not.  What a relief.  Congrats again.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps heading for the 60s.  Busy day at work.  Starting to do some transitioning.  To clarify the new job, I am staying with the same agency, but my supervisor will be one located where I am instead of three floors away.  Also I was part of the IT division before and now I work directly in and report to the HIV management.  To work in that particular field takes a certain mindset which I appear to have.  Thank you all for the support and the compliments.  I feel ten years younger already.  I am well and truly blessed.

Soccer scrimmaging was cancelled because none of the kids showed up (spring break).  I visited with my dad for a while instead.  After I came, Lucas, his girlfriend, my wife and I played some dice games.  I had the regular fare on the dining car as it rolled in from "Points East" on the breakfast run.  TBIL anytime.  Loved the green beer!  I hope everyone has a good day.  Prayers as always going out to those in need.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear and cold 29 degrees. Going up to a sunny 65 today. I'm beginning to like this weather.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I have a few chores to do. Then, putting everything away, when she gets home. No train time today.

Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast. Then, it will depart for all " Points West "

Y'all have a great Thursday.

8n.....since we were off on your birthday by one day (early), it appears we will have to start over and send you insulting birthday greetings all over againYou conveniently forgot to participate in last year's forum survey of the members' ages......we can only speculate as to the reason for your action and therefore assume extreme age-related insulting b-day greetings are necessary throughout today.

Let the greetings begin......again!  Happy B-Day Happy B-Day

By the way..... remember, your train will work a lot better if you plug the transformer into an electrical outlet.  Chief puts a yellow ribbon on his throttle control for this purpose and it sometimes works for him. Big Smile

Brutus - did you look at going after the other headlight from underneath?  Might be better access there.  A friend of mine has a Lexus.  Burned out a headlight recently.  It is one of the LED type headlights.  Cost him $200 to have it replaced!  I think he said he paid $175 or so for the bulb - that was the 'good guy' price - and about $30 for installation.

RockIsland52 - I resemble that remark!

Got the router and the modem playing together now.  Turned out to be a setting in the modem that made it act like a router in the way it assigned IP addresses.

Happy Birthday 88 and 8N! and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

Spent another day up here at the scope working on the windbird. Almost done, just a bit more wiring. Wanted to get up earlier, but I decided more sleep was in order after the last day or two. Dealing w/ some interesting personnel issues. Here's praying I deal w/ it right.

Mike - congrats on the new job!

Ol Timer - I'm mostly Brit myself and to my Irish and Scottish friends, I jokingly refer to them as "the colonies". "We invented the steam engine, you invented .... the hangover."Big Smile According to my grandmother, I should be wearing orange today, as I've got some Irish in me, but it's all Northern Irish.  If I was a farmer I guess I'd have to be an Allis and not a Deere fan.

Jack - I set the train up on the desk in the electronics shop, otherwise known as "my office". 0-27 just fits on it. It's the same room as the one in my profile picture.

Well off to try and key down a bit. Maybe run the train and continue to work on the battery eliminator. The 2025 is pulling her first freight for me, the 6472 reefer.

Thanks Bill, got your e-mail. I didn't see it in the on-line manual, course that don't mean it's not there.

Finished the billboard to surprise the munchkin, not totally happy with results.

Maybe I'll check and see if I can find some stickers to embellish it a bit.

Nice day, though I didn't do very much.  Shopped at Walmart and an auto parts store, changed a light bulb on the truck and have a spare now.  I thought about changing the other one now, but honestly I can't reach it!  I hope it doesn't burn out, I'll have to move stuff to get at it or something - maybe have my daughter reach in and get it out for me?  How silly!

Watching a neat show on PBS with lots of Irish music - love the Clancy Bros Thumbs Up

50 ish and still cloudy.  A little orange tinge to the clouds tonight off to the west.  Maybe some sun tomorrow?

Thanks for the birthday greetings, guys.  Either they are a day early or I've lost a day and it is Thursday instead of Wednesday -  enough going on at work that that could have happened.

DDG - check your e-mail.

All for now.  Got to try to get the new moedm and the wireless router on speaking terms.

Good evening.  Finished up the kitchen and placed most of the plants back in place and some of the furniture.  A few odds and ends to put back and that project can be scratched off the list.  We did violin lessons and all went well. Daughter is playing for her pre-school class tomorrow.  I think she will be playing 4 or 5 songs.  Wife will most likely go so she can watch over violin so it is not damaged.

Had dinner at Cracker Barrel tonight.  They have a great steak salad...yum!  Now it is time for bed as have a few big cases early on in the morning.  Once those are done, I can come home and work on the layout.  Big box from The Train-Station arrived today.  I picked up a coaling station and the cable for hooking up the Legacy to the KWs and TPC400.

Ole Timer, if you ever want to see a fantastic string band, the Annie Moses Band is a group of kids, all from the same family who are all julliard trained musicians.  I have seen them a few times and they are high energy with skills that will knock your socks off.  Don't expect the flashing and dancing...they are a Christian group.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good Afternoon,

I find it hard to beleive but the local Goodwill store in Lake Worth FL shut it's doors. South Florida economy is really in sad shape, even Goodwill is leaving! Also driver's license offices closing as well.

Trying to install a circuit for non flickering lights in one of my passenger trains. Will see how it works.

PAT .... Fabulous irish joke !  I think I liked it alot more than my wife when I read it to her ... all she said was ... uh -uh - yea ...  but I laughed me behind off .

Dougdagrump .... I never saw Celtic Women live on stage ... had to watch the video ... I think after my son and I's actions at the live Riverdance on stage was a main reason she would'nt go to Celtic Women when it came here ... nothin like that long line of beautiful female dancers a dancin and hoppin up and down ... legs kickin way up high .... Oh fond memories .... with everything bouncin in real life !  Kisses The girls said " the more and louder the applause the higher we kick our legs up ... so the son and I along with most men obliged ... standing and acting like wild fools ... dancers loved it .... LOL . Don't think wives in the audience did though .... Sigh  ... but who cared .... and you would'nt believe the gmynastic type  back-flip type poses the female fiddle player did for us ... laying there playing with pantyhose only showing underneath !!!!!      WOW !!!

Happy St. Patricks Day to ye all.  I'm surrounded by Irish.  My dear wife is 100% Irish so that makes my kids half Irish.  I'm the only one in the family that is not Irish.  My folks came from England.  I think I could go for some ham and cabbage.  Like that better than corned beef.  Had my last package of instant grits with some fried eggs this morning after doctor appointment.  Doc says I needed a B-12 shot.  Have to go back in two months for another one.

Here is an Irish story on St. Pat's Day, especially for you Irish and you Catholics. A little long, but I think worth reading.

 Irish Alzheimer’s

Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday and the priest almost fell down when he saw him.

He'd never been to church in his life.

After Mass, the priest caught up with him and said, "Murphy, I am so glad ya decided to come to Mass.

What made ya come?"

Murphy said, "I got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat.

I know that McGlynn had a hat just like mine and I knew he came to church every Sunday.

I also knew that he had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of church.

So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat."

The priest said, "Well, Murphy, I notice that ya didn't steal McGlynn's hat.

What changed your mind?"

Murphy replied, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 Commandments, I decided that I didn't need to steal McGlynn's hat after all."

With a tear in his eye the priest gave Murphy a big smile and said; "After I talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' ya decided you would rather do without your hat than burn in Hell?"

Murphy slowly shook his head. "No, Father, after ya talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' I remembered where I left me hat."

Ole Timer, Having grown up being a Ky Hillbilly the music out of the hills had it's roots in the old Irish folk songs and music. Hence the old saying for it to be true country music you gotta have a fiddle in the band.

Just finished a late breakfast/early lunch, good ol' scrapple & eggs. Dinner

Think I like the group "Celtic Women" better than Riverdance, more music and much less dancing.

Worked this morning on the lited billboard, finally found some nice cardstock. Hopefully will have it done this evening.

Brent, Happy Birthday to you sir!  I hope you get something with flanged wheels and stay away from them power tools!
Mike, Congratulations on your pending job.  There is a whole lot to be said for Quality of Life.  While I was offered a lot more money to come to a relatively rural area (we are 3 hours from anything), the quality of life is much better here.  Where I had been had me working 90+ hours per week and making less money.  I wish you well, and perhaps the impact left when you leave will encourage your current employer to improve things for the next person.  Just be both honest and respectful when giving the exit interview.  Never know if you may need a reference in the future.
Ole Timer, you rascal...and you live anyway?  I have seen people pummelled for less.  By the way, my great grandfather was notorious for having killed a British officer in the 1916 Easter Rebellion.

It is currently raining here, but I feel ashamed to even mention it considering all the rain that the folks up north have faced.  It is just a steady soaking, not heavy, but prolonged.  Wife and daughter are home, so a little time with them and then some violin practice this afternoon.

Y'all have a blessed day.
