I got out of work at 3:30. Because of the storm I headed to my mother's house to give her a hand in the morning before heading to work for storm duty at  noon to midnight and noon to midnight Sunday. (No life working for an electric and gas company that is short on people when a storm hits).Besides my Mom's house is 10 min. from my reporting location and I live 1hr away and my wife agrees that our 17yr old son and  son in law (who lives across the street) should be able to handle our snow removal. My Mom is 81 and a good home cooked meal is a treat. (Hope my wife doesn't see this) As of 7:30 there is no snow in Central Jersey. I am sure that I will have fun with all the nuts on the road tommorrow.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all with illness and personal problems.

Buckeye, hope your surgery went well.  I had some nose work many years ago for a diviated septum that was causing these migraine like headaches and that cured it.  Hope you have good results too.

Doug, that was a very nice number 96 coal loader.  I had one of those once but sold it.  Mine had the crank too.  It is harder to find than the motorized one.  I think it was one of the nicest looking accessories that Lionel made.

No heavy rain yet but I'm not complaining.  Heard on the news that D.C. is expecting record snow which will go down to Virginia and the Carolinas so bundle up Chief.  Whatever happened to global warming?

Later, Ray

Nothing but rain here.  Yards flooded.  The Fifey must be on duty as he has not posted.  From what I hear, DC and Fifey are getting blizzard conditions.

Talked to Mrs. Buckeye.  He is home and doing well [resting] after Dennis and I operated on him.

Long day with drugs.  The pain killers did their job, but my eyes and face are really hurting.

We have about 6-8 inches of snow on the ground.  My neighbors have been cleaning the drive.  Started at 10 AM and hasn't stopped.

Good evening all,

It has been Shohioing all day in SE Indiana.  Took a vacation day due to the weather.  Wife had to work so I did the housework today.  Watching "Numb3rs" tonight.  Good job on the surgery, Chief and Dennis!  Good conversations on the Tardis as well.  We certainly have a lot to talk about, but "What happens on the Tardis, stays on the Tardis".  Not much else going on.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  TBIL after "Numb3rs" tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

 Good evening,

We might have 2" on the ground now, it's been snowing since about 3:00 PM, but very light and slow to accumulate, which is GOOD.

Buckeye, Glad to hear the surgery went well, have a fast and as pain free a recovery as possible.

Snow blower is gassed up and sitting inside the garage door, when the snow stops.

To those living outside the snow fall area, have a great weekend.  The rest of us will try to get by. Smile

Gray day.  Snowed most of the day.  Luckey it was warm enough that it was melting almost as fast as it was falling - elsewise we would have ended up with 6 or 8 inches instead of 2 or 3.

My son made it home about 8am this morning.  Said it started raining in Macon, Ga., rained all the way to St Louis where it turned to snow.  Took him about 14 hours from Atlanta.

RockIsland - my wife was snuffing about my last order of bits and pieces for my trains - I think it totaled $18.  I just showed her the entry in my check book for this year's property taxes.

Brutus - I was thinking about going to the St Charles train show tomorrow, but with my son home, there is some work we need to get done that involves moving heavy things around the house - strike while the iron is hot, ya know.  There is a show in Kansas City the last weekend of the month - out of the way for you, but closer for me.

All for now.

In STL, it rained all night and day and turned to snow this afternoon.  They let the kids out of school at about noon, so I took off early.  Went to Walmart for supplies, had some pizza and watching some tv shows.  Some good family time.  Char can't talk, but they are giving her good meds for the pain and she is sleeping alot.  Every day is a day closer to being better.

Tardis is ready and I see all kinds of beacons, so better hit the road!  TTFN!

Hi GUYZ,

Went  to BARRYs after school and before storm, picked up buddy stuff, that BARRY didn't want to offer anything for.  But while there met up with new  RR fan and modeler his name is TONY.  We had quite a few laughs today.  Great day all is good with Da World.

SNOW but not here. Looks like the Ohio/PA front is meeting up with the one coming up the East coast and everything is pushing out to sea.  We should just get a dusting.  Hope no one gets more than they can handle

Buckeye, take some photos of yourself and post on SPF.  We promise not to make fun of you......or no more than normal.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ time.

Looks too good for Buckeye.

Rain has stopped for now.  Might get a dusting of snohio in the morning or just some light rain.  Everything is flooded.  Sumppump is going almost full time.  Grady's yard next door is like a river running out of his yard, down the sidewalk and into the street.  Bet pond is at flood stage or could have gone over emergency run around.  Problem here is ground is already over soaked so nothing can soak in.  Springs around the pond are flowing hard across the path.

Good night.  [hope Fifey is OK.  Jack, keep hoping it will go out to sea. snicker]

 Evening All !

I can relate to all of you with bad weather, we have had nothing but rain all day today!  Got 3/4", and more on the way for tomorrow, I think?  20% chance.  If it does come another 1/2", maybe.

Brutus, Glad to hear Char is on her way!  Long road, but will be worth it!!!!  My admiration for you buddy!!

Buckeye, Good to see you made it through the surgery.  Especially considering the medical team involved.

Pat, Just finished watching DVD #11, it is really good.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  (Cab ride from SE Wisconsin to Union Station in Chicago.

My camera class is fine, boring but about what I expected.  Languages are still a bit frustrating, but that's life here anyway.  Forgot all the features that are hidden in the camera.  Lot to try and master.  Looking forward to the Elements section, but that's a few weeks off.

Been working on a dumb intermittent problem on my layout.  After 2 days working with the power distribution, found the problem!!  A LOOSE ground wire!!  And of course the most common problem, and usually one of the most difficult to find.

Going to see about redoing a bridge tomorrow.  Going to remove a lift up bridge an repaint, reinforce, rewire, and reinstall.

Looking forward to NEXT Saturday, train show coming up!  What makes this special is boh Lionel and MTH will have a booth.  That is really unusuall!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and dont become snow bound.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is 32 degrees. About 6 inches of snow on the ground. Still snowing. It looks beautiful thru the bay window. Going up to 34 today with more snow until later.

Today is an easy day. So far. I plan on relaxing and running trains this afternoon. Not much else new.

Buckeye..Hope you are feeling no pain.  Don't shovel snow.

Dining car is late. I will watch down the tracks. Probably needs a plow to clear the way. The usual will be for breakfast.

Y'all have a great and warm Saturday.

Good morning.......

Jon.......IT SNOWED!!!! Finally we have a good old fashioned Buckeye Winter Snowstorm.  We always need one of these each year to cleanse the population of wimps.  Most of the departed head for NC because they feel right at home with the majority of the population.  The toughest of the tough in Ohio move to places like Buffalo, Northern Michigan or Iowa for the challenge.

Don......The medical team, named Bubba and the Colonel were relieved of their duties and taken to jail just before they sedated me.  I was very fortunate that my doctors were all graduates of THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.  I did chastise them about their donations to the university and that we need to see a 500 percent increase in their giving to our professional football program this next year.

Chuck.....I have your shovel all warmed up and ready to go.  I was really wanting to go out and take photos of the Ohio Central busting through the snow on a day like this.  I guess I will try another year.

Thanks guys for all the words of encourgement.  I am hurting this morning.

That's what he thinks.   Packed GRITS up his nose instead of packing.

Chief, wait till he sneezes!...Sorry Buckeye, you don't want to be doing that any time soon.  Glad all went well and before long, the pain will subside and you will be a new man.  You may have developed a set of black eyes....have some fun with it, tell folks it was not due to the surgery, but a frying pan when the bride found out what the train budget has been this year.Wink

Got windy here yesterday and it is still blowing hard.  Rained a good  part of the day and finished last night.  Hope this dries out soon as the mud is deep.  At least I don't need a shovel for snow!  We have a gun show in town today and tomorrow, so I will be taking the kids in a few moments.  Have some honey dos to tackle and then some layout work to do.  One of the guys at the hospital lent me a DVD on layout building.  Mostly HO stuff and had Tony Lash's layout as the O-gauge representative.  Did pick up some hints with regard to the rubber forms for the rock casting.  Perhaps that is what we will do today while the bride is at work.

Fife, glad you got through it OK.  When we were in Nashville last weekend, they had images of police cars that had gotten caught up in accidents.  Also had a Ambulance that was overturned.  From the stories told, it was not their driving capabilities that got them, but others had smacked into them.

Hope everyone stays safe up in the great white north.  Chuck, you don't need to be working too hard on the shovelling either!  Tis better to use a small coal shovel and take little bites!

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning, we got about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on top of all that rain, guess it was just a little too warm for the snow even last night.  I'll just let the kids scrape off the driveway in a while so they have some allowance money.  No plans really until tonight except some laundry and run something on my circle of track here in the livingroom.

Congrats, Steve, on the new job.

Our snow is similar. About 14" with drifts up to the knees (20"). Expecting another 6"-8" today. Shoveled in two short sessions this AM. SJ, I agree - this is heart attack weather. Will spend another 4 or 5 sessions before it's done. Fortnightly, my son will do the plowing.

Don - You are ahead of me. Just finished Disc # 4. Sounds like they are all great action DVD's.

Ole Timer - You better be careful what you say, or you may look like Buckeye after a frying pan makeover.

 Morning All !

Imagine the forum will be busy today, lots of folks probably spending the day at home.  This weather is something else, we have had ANOTHER 1/4" of rain overnight!  Definitely a day to stay inside, just heard on the weather station about Thunder-Snow in Baltimore, never heard of that before.  I mean it is so bad here I can hardly hear the TV, with the rainfall on the train room roof, it sounds almost as loud as if it were a tin roof.  Fortunately, not worried about the firewood problem here though, just turn on the electric fireplace, and it seems like it is immediately 10 degrees warmer.  Will probably have to make a trip to Walmart though, guess I will need to buy an Umbrella.  (Train room access is via the patio, I have to go outside to get in.  Don't have a door directly from inside the house, Urgh)  Enough about our bad weather here, I can appreciate all your discomfort back there.  One last comment, the temperature here has also fallen due to the weather, high is predicted at only 59 today, Brrrrrrr.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Fife,

Okay, I am stumped.  What is the Fifepup 2000? Sounds interesting.Smile

We've got at least two feet here.  I am not scheduled until 4, but I hope that the store is closed or they tell me not to come in.  I've been going outside occassionally to keep bruhing the PGT off, but I haven't even touched the Sunfire.  Come to think of it, I haven't seen it since early yesterday before the snow started.
