Ole Timer - So is that you I keep seeing on the freeways?

==================================================

Pat i always told my one buddy someday I'd get my revenge by driving 30 mph under the speed limit and keeping my left turn signal on .... sitting through green lights and also adding a half a pint of tranny fluid to my gas tank and ride around in heavy traffic smoking old  codgers  in the summer .... he said go for it .... but I have'nt got the ...... Whistling ..... LOL .

And it seemed when I had a saturday off to sleep in the darn cows would break out and my dad would come get me at 5:00 am ..... Banged Head

Belated B Day greetings Laz!  Sounds like you've been living life big, I like it Thumbs Up

Drove to northern IA yesterday as we are finally celebrating our families Christmas get together, weather goofed things up last week.  Awoke to -19 this morning and that's not the wind chill!!!  Supposed to warm up to 0 later today.

Sadly, I must agree with the Chief---we switched over to Verizon last July, biggest mistake I've made in years Thumbs Down  I will try next week to get their attention, crappy phones and their service areas are NO better than Sprints--in fact, worse.  I will go back to Sprint (which we had for over 8 years) in a heartbeat, it was rare when we had dropped calls.  Now it's at least twice a week with Verizon.

Sure hope I can sneak out the back door later and hit my favorite train store in Iowa.  Just need a little "me" time.

Jon

Laz, better luck today.  Good decision not to shoot Bambi.  That would not be cool.

Buckeye, congratulations on the Ohio State win.  Woody Hayes must be smiling somewhere.  Did not keep up with college football this year.  I was so far out of the loop, I did'nt even know that Oregon was favored.  They were outplayed in that first quarter so much I thought they were the underdog.

No activity here today.  I think I will just take it easy and  maybe make a few phone calls to relatives.

Cows like to wander on New Years Day. Looked out the window yesterday morning and there were cows eating grass in the front yard. Two years ago on New Years Day the entire heard went visiting a mile away to a neighboring horse farm.Disapprove Give them a chance and they will take green grass over green hay every time.

fifey - Great Old Year ('09) salutes.Thumbs Up

Chief - Who is your RFD-HD provider? Not available on DISH.

The Rose Bowl parade was on RFD-TV with their own coverage. The emphases was on agriculture - their float was an FFA float, they covered all equestrian units rather than cutting away for commercials, Etc.

Ray - Every year is a good year on the farm, even those that don't show a profit. As long as I don't go belly up-------Whistling

Sign - Welcome  AutoChris.

Kirt - I like the Avatar.

Ole Timer - So is that you I keep seeing on the freeways?

My Congrats to the CTT staff (especially to our moderator). No where else can you combine train talk and solve non-train problems.

Aloha all. Just 3 degrees this am, but sun makes all the difference. Six letter word for 'Model Train Scale" in yesterday's crossword: o-g-a-u-g-e! The writer must like toy trains because before Christmas he had six letter word for 'Toy Train Make" - L-i-o-n-e-l. Smile

Movie and games last night. Tree comes down today. Lots of reflection on past year and future too. Ran  trains too. Percy kept derailing on random curves - drove me crazy. Swapped him on other tracks and did the same. Thought his train was too heavy, still did it - but randomly. I think somehow he's lifting off the track - maybe coupler swing is too stiff. Took out a few switches - maybe the 1122s were causing problems but no. Anyway, something to ponder.

Morning all.

Cold and snowy in Southern Ohio. Got ethe 592 and 600 crossing gate bases painting done.  The krylon paint was dead on to match the AF light green.  I may go buy a case to have it if it were to be discontinued!

Laz - Good luck, don't forget the honeysickle thickets.  Great bedding area.  Food and cover, especially if on the south side of the hill.

May God bless

Morning all.  Got lots of ideas for the layout with all the stuff.  Even with the best of plans, it is going to come down to just placing things and see where they fit best.  I need to put the base coat of paint down on all the pink foam and then will decide regarding rest of scenery.  OF course all this will have to wait as we are heading to FIL's house for Christmas with him and his bride.  Hope everyone has a good day.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good Morning--

Laz: Done deer hunting with a compound bow a few times up here--never heard of anyone taking out a fawn/yearling either---that'd be strangeSigh

We had snowsqualls dump about 16" on our heads and the weatherbeguessers are calling for about the same by tonight------going to be interesting around here.

Morning Boys!  Coffee and Costco danish!  Mmmmmm.... I better watch it, or I won't be able to squeeze behind my layout!

It's 26 degrees here with fresh snow this morning.  The ski areas will be going full-tilt today.

More prayers for Fife's Mom... more birthday wishes for Laz.

Today is church de-decorating day.  We'll leave our tree up until we get enough thaw to drudge it our through the woods and off of the cliff!

THANK YOU ALL GUYZ, for DA BDAY wishes.  I hope I have another 53?

Well today being my Bday and all went out to the woods at 300 Pm.  Loaded up flintlock and went to spot where I saw lots o tracks the day before.  Staked out a good spot and waited.  At about 4 Pm saw some movement about 75 yards above me and yes it was deer. 3 of em I saw.  Watched them and another showed up.  They meandered down to me that took 45 minutes.  Was waiting and ready, hammer pulled back, I thought they'd follow creek around to be right in front of me?  Instead they came up upon bluff where I was sitting.  Small yearling doe showed up first about 10 yrds away then MOM.  I couldn't get a good shot at MOM and JR was so small didn't want to shoot it so waited then MOM snorted and away they went.  At about 60 yrds I saw MOM running and took a shot but missed.  Spent 25 minutes looking for blood but didn't find any.  I could have killed the little one but sometimes you just say no way, it not about the kill.   Oh well what great fun, looking forward to tomorrow.  There were 4 deer total and these were the closest to me.  Suppose to be real cold and windy tommorow, so we'll see what gives?  Great time and came home for sausage and mashed potatoes and sour kraught.  Ran trains for an hour NO PILE UPs.  All is good with da world.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the teens.  Welcome, Audiochris!  Roy, good to see you back.  Dennis W., hope you enjoyed your first Tardis ride last night.  (Remember, what happens on the Tardis stays on the Tardis).  You certainly seemed interested in the flight control area.  After a few more trips, we will get you certified to fly as we definitely could use some more "pilots" in the rotation.  Took it easy today.  Lucas took off to see his girlfriend so the "saucy wench" and I had the place to ourselves for the first time during the break.  We watched a tape of a stage show called "Tuna Christmas".  It is a family tradition.  Oldest called with some more pregnancy issues to discuss with her mom.  Nothing serious, but it is different for her this time.  Worked on some old Standard gauge track to make a nice 4'x6' oval with siding.  Scotch brite does wonders.  There is a Great Train show in Indy tomorrow, but probably will pass.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening everyone.  Got a lot done on the layout.  Getting ready to really ratchet things up a few notches as I need to figure out where to put all the accessories and buildings, etc.  that I have accumulated over the past few years.  My wife was right....I have so much stuff, that I don't know what I have.  Have made a list and took photos of the layout as it is now.  Will sit in front of the laptop and make a plan of what to put where.  Plan on getting some of that done tonight.

Great to see some folks checking in after being busy so much of the year.  Roy and the rest, you are missed when life takes you away for so long.  Glad things are well.

Chuck,

I think we can be confident Buckeye is glued to this game since the entire economy of Ohio depends on the outcome.

The good news for Buckeye is the win is now secured and Buckeye can breath again.

Congrats Ohio State fans!

HAPPY NEW YEARS to all and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Laz.  A little late but I've been watching bowl games most of the day.  O and Happy half time to Buckeye as OSU is leading at this point.  Pretty good game so far.  No trains so far, but we did take down all the interior and exterior decorations today.  Things can now get back to normal.  I always enjoy the holidays, but also enjoy it when they are over and can get back to a regular schedule.

Don't think I mentioned it but Jean did get me Big Game Hunter for the Wii this Christmas.  The SIL and grandkids have used it more than I have, but now the kids have to go back to school on Monday so I will get my chance. Smile

Happy Birthday, Laz, from one Pennsylvanian to another, even though I have lived in Florida since 1967.

Got through page 45 of the December Coffee Pot and page 3 of January's. Don't know how I got so far behind, but "they" sometimes say it's good to get a little behind every once in a while. (Ooops, hope the censors are asleep). Sange 2 services in St. Augustine Christmas Eve, Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church, did solo of "O Holy Night" as a solo during the preludes and did a solo/slash duet at the 11:00 PM service with an alto of "Of the Father's Love Begotten", in a plainsong mode. Both services brought home the true meaning of Christmas for me. Christmas afternnon, Madge and I boarded Amtrak's Silver Meteor and spent 5 days and 4 nights in the big apple. Weather was all over the palce. Cold rain when we arrived, cleared up and bright sunshine but stayed cold. Say "Billy Elliot", a superb broadway production by Elton John, the music was great and the dance sequences were fantastic. Saw the New York String Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, average age of performers was in the early 20's. Music to die for. Ate lunch at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central the day we arrived with Sister-In-Law. Last night in the Big Apple, we had an expensive but delicious dinner at TAO, pronounced DOW. It is in a coverted movie theater stripped to the brick walls with a two story Bhudda down where the screen used to be. Only draw back was the incredibly LOUD and bombastic music that the young people seem to prefer. Our conversations were a series of shouts. Got home yesterday, New Year's Eve morning. Amtrak's timekeeping beyween Wasington and New York on the Silver Meteor leaves a lot to be desired. Rode 1st Class on the Acela from NYP to WAS as first leg of trip home. Service and ride were excellent. The Amtrak personel on all the trains were several steps above trips in earlier years.

Happy New Year and prayers to all for a better 2010!!!!
