Chiefie - I'm more of a blueberry or pumpkin muffin kinda guy.
Ole timer - I have a K-Line sawtooth factory on my layout. It has a grey plastic sign with "RETRO MANUFACTURING" printed across the door. What I want is to replace it (or stick a new sign over it) with a sign saying "FOOTER'S DYE WORKS". Looking at some archival pics, this would have actually been painted on the bricks with white lettering on a black field with white trim. I'll have to give it some more thought.
Morning.
"First things first." Barry, will you take your Canadian COLD air back!!!!!!!
Now I can say. Slept late. Cooked some breakfast. Sat down to coffee and breakfast and watched the DVR'd RFD-TV's Trains and Locomotives. It is the segment on the Rio Grand RR. Pretty good.
Kool, will look up your video.
Fifey, you forgot to tell us about the donuts at the DD.
Mike C., yes we all are proud of Lucas. He has come a long ways from when he was "sick" to now. I know you are proud of him.
I see Fifey, OT and others are helping Mtn. Goat with his new layout.
Will get above freezing today and the sun helps. Tomorrow the same until evening. Now they say some snohio Thursday night into early Friday morning.
Shipping out the traveling box cars today.
Stay warm and stay out of Ioway the US's Siberia wastelands.
Later.

Chuck ..... just don't over do yourself buddy .... please take it in slow steps !
Pat .... Al Gore surely is'nt in Maryland .... I don't know where he's hiding out ... if he comes here I'm gonna snow ball the sucker ... he may look like this when he leaves = ... I used to be a darn good pitcher and power hitter in my youth .... lol .
Fifedog .... could be .... I'm an old hillbilly but don't know what in the world a sawtooth factory is .... LOL . I have a bunch of vintage sign gifs also ....... all kinds ... with mounting holes and even rusted areas that look darn cool .... if you want I can email to you . The guys here print and stick them to signs or buildings like they used to back when . Being on sticker paper you can put them anywhere and even change them easily ..... you can edit and print them in different sizes .... one sheet of sticker paper makes a whole bunch . Let me know just exactly what it is you want on it
Jon ... speaking of those bra wires .. one got down inside our dryer once and shorted and fried the circuit .... ..... costing me a new dryer ! How it got there is beyond me . I forbid the wife of buying them anymore .... like that worked .... she listens so well ....
LAZ ... I've been shot-down-outbid alot lately also on Ebay... don't feel pregnant . But like you say 1,000's more of the same will come by . So many sellers now price at full retail OR MORE ... I thought ebay was for bargains ... well it used to be ....
All you Florida guys .... I myself can't believe the extreme cold down there ... ridiculous is'nt it ? I guess only the California folks are lucky .

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 20 degrees. Snow on the ground. Not getting much warmer today. If this is "Global Warming", then I hope to hell we never get " Global Cooling".
Today is a resting day. I think I overdid it a little yesterday. Knees ache and legs are stiff. I wish I could feel that good every day. Maybe soon.
Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck

Based on your recent wintry posts I have a Question for Jon, fifey and Lee F:
Where Oh Where is Al Gore?
Warmest winter on record????

Good Morning,
Cold south Florida morning, 36 currently near West Palm Beach FL, about 62 miles north of Miami FL. Overnight low was 32 for most of the area, anjdevil probally saw mid to high 20's around Jacksonville FL. The only thing missing is a bunch of Penquins or Polar Bears!!! It was extremely cold to me even putting out the recycle stuff this morning. I have the heater running since sunday night as it has been that cold.
Was watching the news last night and the weatherman said it actually snowed in Miami FL in 1977, didn't stay on the ground long but it did snow. Personally I saw snow flurries in Stuart FL(about 95 miles north of Miami FL) in Feb. or March of 2001, no accumulation. South Florida does get snow!! It may not last long but we do get snow on occasaion.
Sold a boat trailer yesterday, it had a built-up cage on it but the guy who bought will remove it and said he will use it for his small boat. Yahoo!!!!! More stuff gone, maybe I can spend a few dollars on train stuff. Still waiting to hear about the RV on consignment.
Took out electrical service, 240 volt circuit, for RV and will replace it with 120 volt circuit. That way I can recharge the riding mower's battery when it gets low without having to run two or three extension cords. I found a small metal box that I may build up a little and put a lock on it and put the little battery charger inside the box and keep it outside near the mower.
You guys up north stay warm!! Even south Florida is freezing!!!!!
Lee F.
Kooljock - How the What the Glad you caught the problem. Even gladder I've never had that issue...
Mornin' boys. Stopped by for a coffee at the DD, and Mr Singh and I were commenting on the temps. He informed me that back home (INDIA), they are experiencing the same cold shock. Their homes are not built with heating sources (warm climate), and they have been sending plug in heaters back to their families.
Ole Timer - I am in need of a sign for a sawtooth factory. Interested?
Who's the plumbing pro?! I AM, that's who! I snaked the laundry outflow pipe and found wires from underwire bras about eight feet down. And they were covered in a plug of crud!
Thanks to Lowes, all is well now... except for the ceiling that needs to be painted, but I've been wanting to do that anyway.
Hey, I just noticed that my layout video is embeded on the CTT web site. KOOL!
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI before the Shohio hits the fan tomorrow. Yesterday was a great day. Other than some work related frustrations, (and even with that I still got done all that I wanted/needed to get done for the week) it was quite pleasant and some nice surprises. I got to scrimmage with three of the high school kids at the YMCA last nght for almost a half hour. As much as I enjoyed it, I was really tired when they had to leave and not too disappointed when they did. The only other activity I did there was weights as the scrimmage took care of the drill time and the treadmill time and was far more fun. Then I spent an enjoyable hour and a half discussing Second Life in a phone interview. Finally the "saucy wench", Lucas, his girlfriend and I spent some time playing a game. Lucas was majorly ahead most of the game, but I passed him at the end and he just missed passing me back on his last turn. We are both fairly competitive and I was ROTFLMAO when I just barely beat him. It was hilarious. Chief, I showed Lucas the comment you made about him a couple of days back. He was quite impressed. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after I get back late from Indy tonight. I hope everyone has a good day, digs out from the Snohio they already have and that the white stuff stays north of US 40 on Thursday and Friday.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good morning-
Got some more snow last night--about another 6" of the dang stuff---had to drag the snowblower out for the second time since last evenin'
Going to see about picking up some more survival basics today and maybe ---if'n I'm really lucky see whether I can't just slip by the LHS and see what is there---
Have a warm good day ----
Hi GUYZ,
25 and snowy here today got about an inch over nite. Gotta work with kidos today to get these projects done. Lost out on a 20th Century set by Lionel last nite, on the bay, oh well there will be more.
Stay frosty,
laz57
Morning everyone. Been up for some time now....why???, I don't know. Couldn't sleep past 0400, so got up and said prayers and did my reading for the morning. Trying to think my way through a area of the layout that has to cover 15 inches high by about 30" long and also incorporate two tracks cutting through it. Was thinking either a coaling facility, or perhaps a peanut plant with silos. Have plenty of examples around here and they would certainly do the job.
Bob, even if you love your work, it is still work and we all need a little time away from it. Our pastor, who loves his work is on a month's sabbatical (every 10 years, the church gives staff a month off). Anyway, a time to refresh, think anew, and just take stock of the important things in life. Every once in awhile, things remind us of what is most important. Yesterday, they had a funeral for a 3yo boy who had gotten out of his mother's van and was behind it when the mother was backing out. She ran over and killed him. His 7yo sister is in my son's class. A tragic accident to remind us of how precious life is and how soon it can be taken.
Chief, stay where you are! I fear that if you head to Ioway you will be ambushed by some of that Yankee snow and forced to eat "Cream of Wheat". We are facing low 20s early this morning, but should get up to low 40s later. Too cold for me. Ray, I don't belong, but one of the guys at work may. I will ask him later this afternoon. He has lived in the area forever and is also a conductor on the SAM short line. He has a lot of memories of the ACL and other local RRs. THis was a stop for the ACL passenger trains.

Good Morning all,
We did not get the predicted more snow, but it is < 20 degrees outside. Need to get to work. I'll check in during lunch.
May God bless
Jim
So tired, reclinerized as fast as I sat down. No meetings or anything scheduled for tomorrow. Sleep and rest. Stay warm all. Good night and sleep tight.

8ntruck .... good luck on your engine ... hope you win . SPman ... Don = DBaker you lucky rascals ..... I'm freezing ....
Happy New Year everybody!
Came back to the scope after a long day of travel from CO only to be closed all night due to weather. Train kept losing electrical power on a least one engine and was delayed four to five hours. Was a good trip but no sleep that day. Receiver cooling system went on the fritz so we packed up and went home on Dec 31. Pretty much slept thru New Years. Never been a big fan of that holiday.
Back on the scope for a couple days with not much to show for my days off. Receiver is finally being cooled back down. I go back down Thurs morning for a couple of doctor appointments and then back up Friday night to cover a couple of shifts for a guy in the Guard. Yes, this week will not be too much fun.
Laz - belated happy birthday!
Brent - the shark nose Baldwins are beautiful!
Brutus - sounds like you and the wife are getting closer to the big day!
Hope that 2010 will be a better year for all. I know it was not one of my favorites. Foot is doing better, still know it's there, but podiatrist is happy (and she did not see the pictures of me on top of the scope:). They are fitting me for orthotics.
Work has been frustrating and burning some of us out, but I'm still happy to have a job. Just trying not to focus so much of my life into it after last year. There must be life after telescope...
I'll post some photos of Amtrak and the #2005 later!
May we all this year have the courage to change the things we can, accept the things we can't, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Another beautiful sunny day here - just like Don's - bright blue with the occasional contrail. Little lower temperature though , -4 this morning and the high was 15. Dressed properly, days like this are really enjoyable days to be outside.
Living here in Missourri has taught me to appreiciate Lake Michigan. It provides some moderation of temperatures in Michigan, giving slightly cooler summers and slightly warmer winters.
About 50 minutes until the auction on the Marx 666 I'm bidding on closes. So far, so good....
After I win the 666, I'm going to have to decide how to adapt it to my Lionel rolling stock. The choices are to replace the trucks on the Marx tender with Lionel trucks, or just replace the tender with a Lionel tender.
About all for now.
Evening All
27 degrees.
Got Brutus and Doug M. on chat. Ran some trains today and have banilla ready.

Good Evening from Blueberryhill....
It was a cold 20 degrees today. We got another inch of snow. I took the car for a ride and stopped at the local gas station for Coke. Went well. You definitely need 4 wheel drive to get off and on the hill.
Dining car was here early this morning, with an omlet.
I hope y'all are having a great evening.
STILL COLD!!!!! Home from lake house. Frankie and I installed new power under the house [cable was there but not on a breaker in the main panel] and then installed exhaust fans with lights in both bathrooms. Then piped and vented them out the gable end vents with dampers. Now things are better. Kool, I know who to call if I need plumbing repairs. Howard, better get out the apple cider and have a warm drink. Later.
Chief, up north we have indoor plumbing so we dont pee icicles.Well the wife is on a tear. The day before Christmas my son brought home a gift bag from school with a Baby Ruth in it.Yesterday they made bird feeders with seed that contained peanuts.Guess they want to test out his Epi pens. Hope everyone plays it safe with this cold weather.
LawsonFarmsRR Ditto fifey's weather here. Don B - I am truly sorry you have to suffer from such monotonous weather. No snowmen, no snowball fights, no crisp invigorating air, no exercise shoveling, no glistening trees, no dormant grass, no winter kill of bugs. Pat

are getting bad. On a serious note, I have been without my lower partial plate for the last couple of days while it was in for repair. Got it back today and now I can eat again without injury to myself. I just wondered, if any of you guys in the South or anywhere else for that matter belong to the ACL/SAL Historical Society. The reason I ask is that they published a little story of mine in the latest issue of their magazine "Lines South" about riding ACL trains in my youth. I still need to get a copy for myself. I suppose they will send me one sooner or later. A friend of mine in Virginia told me that he had seen it. Sorry for the shameless promotion but I am anxious to see it. Nothing else earth shaking going on out here. Took down the outside Chirstmas lights and will probably undecorate the tree tomorrow.

What a day, SHEEESH, the next time I retire............
Still crazy cold here and winter storm warnings beginning tomorrow at noon, Buckeye & Blueberry & Rich--I know you three are happy for us I sure hope the Roseyville Rascal shows up here this weekend, if he does I'll try and get a pic of him putting his tongue on the flagpole!!!!!!!!!
Our winter so far has been a tough one, some corn still in the fields and snow removal budgets are 2/3 gone at this point plus the heating costs for schools have far surpassed their projections. Not so much fun for those folks in charge of the budgets but we will survive and laugh it off in future years.
The fireplace feels simply wonderful tonight along with a glass of Chardonnay following a special dinner, it is Friday night......... right??
Time for the game. GO HAWKS!!!!!
So many roads, so little time.
Got home just in time for bride to take daughter to Ballet/Tap dancing, so I'm home with our son. Going up to check on layout as I did some painting and want to make sure one spot came out right. Then, check on a idea about building a coal mine/tipple...but we shall see. Also, we have a serious game of Lego Indiana Jones 2 to play on the Wii.....I am sure the kid will kick my backside.
Still cold outside. The crops are in trouble around here. Also, the cotton is still not completely harvested because of the rain that delayed things. Farms down here are taking it on the chin. Also, the latest report has Georgia as #3 in new bankruptcy. Best get to it. Hope y'all have a good night.

‘Afternoon, Gents
Right now, a lovely 44 was 25 at 0730, going to 15 tonight. WOW I thought this was Florida....guess not, feels like....JERSEY!!!
Son’s birthday last night, Mrs. made him Baked Ziti and a Yoda pillow with a matching blanket. Cake for desert with candles.
Hit the bed at 930 last night, was just too tired to stay up. I have some new meds for my sinus issues and 1 for my stiff left arm. Feels like a hangover right now.
Sent in my invite to the dinner on the 16th, so just need to book the flight, fares went up $80 overnight , go figure. Will try to stay up a bit later to book flight, hopefully it will be a little cheaper or I’ll have to fly up on Friday.
Got a Lionel 8600 switcher off OGR, $28 shipped, and matches my ATSF switcher. I’ll try to gold leaf the Lionel Lines engine and tender, maybe a few other things. No smoket or headlight, but I’ll try to change that.
OK, that’s all from Penguin Paradise – I’ll check back later!

Doug, Best would be a socket, metric/standard ??, or maybe even a small crescent wrench. As a last resort would be a pair of pliers with a steady hand.
