Aloha all. - 3 this morn without the wind. Went to the movies last eve and then a late supper at a local BBQ.  Back from church and watching the Bears struggle. Ran trains too - got four going for the first time in ages. First Thomas around his short inner-most loop around Baker Field. Then swapped my most reliable engine, the 520, on the next outmost loop with Percy who responded spendidly with the longer Sodor cars around Fortner yard. Then started James and the Express around the outermost loop through Eagles Ridge. Finally, had to manually throttle-jockey 520 with the Polak Coal Co. cars on the fourth loop. Nirvana.

Back from lake house.  YAM DANKEES!!!!! Angry Us nice Southern gentlemen share our warm temps and grits and sweet ice tea.  All you do is send us your COLD WIND!!!!!! Disapprove Left the lake house, it had warmed to 22 degrees with winds at 13 mph and wind chill 9 degrees [per my indoor wireless weather station].  Was 19 when I got up and stayed that way until 9 AM.  Edge of lake is beginning to freeze.  I know Howard and Kool are really cold.  I hope Ioway is frozen solid. Evil

Got one chore done [insulated hot water line from hot water heater to kitchen which is on the other end of house] on Friday afternoon.  Went to friends' house for blackeyed peas and collards.  Rode golf cart.  Was not bad when I went.  Left at 7:30 PM and it had turned cold and windy.  Glad I did chore on Friday as would have had crawl space door open yesterday while it was only 31 and wind blowing 10 mph.  Stayed in most of yesterday watching movies on new channel the Direct TV lady fixed me up with.  Lucy and I did ride the golf cart to the dumpster and back.  She snuggled close to me to try to stay warm.   Lucy and Burg went out only a few times.  Lucy usually runs "wild" while she is there.  She never stayed gone over 15 minutes at the time.  She was cold.  Burg was out, did his "business" and back in.   Suppose to stay like this for several days.

Sad news for Rose Bowl.  OSU won.  I'm sure other team was bribed. Whistling

Off to watch some TV [new HD channels on Time Warner cable] and eat homemade spaghetti.  That is warming.

Later.

JON ..... fabulous video .... i think you missed your second calling ..... movie production !

Sister in law called from Florida keys said it was in the 50's down there .... said she's freezing to death ..... LOL ..... walking around and sitting wrapped up in a blanket ..... yea she turned the heater on too .... said even her little dog shivers when he goes out to do his business Laugh  She should walk out my back door .... 18 degrees with 10-20 mph gusts .... it would probably freeze dry her dog ....

 Good Morning boys & girls,

Like RRCharlie says cold.  Low in the 20's (was 26 about an hour ago, now 30, high of 48 later.  Cloudy & breezy.

Princess arrived home safely and was glad to be back.  Happy that's she's home.  Had a good time.  I was up until 1 and crashed.  Cats woke me up at 7AM Banged Head.  Hot cup o'tea with candy canes was good.

May do a little last clearance shopping later, will be hitting the last night of Winter Wonderland in St. Augustine, where it will snow at 7 & 9 pm, ice skating, horse carriage rides and all the fun stuff we used to do up in NJ.  And now, the weather to go with it.

We'll have the Christmas Tree up until at least Epiphany, going to book my trip to NJ soon.  Found out that I may have gotten a nice bit of luck.  Greenburg show in Somerset, Open House at the NJ High Railers in Paterson and of course, my firemans dinner and 175th celebration.

Maybe I'll crawl back to bed....see ya in a bit

Good morning

It was 4 degrees at 7:30am, 8 now, sun.

RT good hearty breakfast, nothing to grind your teeth on. Had a nice chat with RT and Brutus last nite and they reminded me to shut off the outside faucets. I had forgotten. Need to thaw them and leave them open. Have a great Sunday...S.J.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Sunny & 19 (with face splittin' 45 mph wind gusts) here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Funny, the term "greenhouse gasses" has not been heard from inside the beltway this week...

Took Wifey to local diner for brunch yesterday, then had to escort her to the movie house for a screening of IT'S COMPLICATED.  Couldn't help but notice that I was one of 3 dudes (which I tried to show solidarity with high-5's as they walked by) in the audience, and the rest looked like middle-aged mother-daughter tandems...  Still, one of the better chick-flix I've had to suffer.  Spent evening over grandmom's house.  Lots of family in for a sudden death, so we bought pizza for everyone.  Came home and watched SE7EN (Morgan is my favorite actor) on Dish.

Today, laundry and undecorating fifedom.  Maybe watch a football game from Oakland.

sir james - Got to call for oil delivery this week.  Oh well, was a mild November.

dbaker - Congrats on your big purchase.

Blueberry - If you can't crack that throttle, check out Kooljock's video to cure that Jones.

Good Morning

Had to get up earlier to go do some more snowblowing with the neighbour---got the elderly people's driveway down the street done---we ended up with close to another foot of snow yesterday evening so now we're at about 3' of the stuff----and they're predicting more as the snowsquall warning is still in effect. The current temperature is -13C with the windchill at -22C as the winds are blowing at about 30-50kmh. Just wonderfulGrumpy

Audrey and I are going to attempt to get some shopping for basic survival foodstuffs this morning--as the snowsquall machine fires up for another daySigh

You all have a safe day----Smile,Wink, & Grin

Just shoveled 14 inches of Al Gore dandruff from the walk out to the garage.  I fired up the Jeep, and took the dog for a ride to the gas station.  It's 10 degrees here, and the snow is still falling.  Now Mrs. Jock is yelling at the dog for melting all over the house!

This is my last Communion Sunday as Chair of the Deacons, so I'm in charge of the elements.  Snow or no snow, we're going to church!

Then maybe I'll break some Blue Laws and buy some taller boots for my girls!

Watched some Looney Tunes, then made a template in the stairs and carefully cut out a sheet of drywall to fit - moving it up the stairs and "BIFF" the corner disintegrated :(  Oh well, I kept the template together, so I can redo it.  This time, I'll do it in 2 smaller sections, make it easy on myself and my sanity.  Had to apologize to the wife for all my swear words though Sad  Never got to the trains, just took a shower and got dinner.  Nice chat tonight with RT, SJ, Wes and Charlie Thumbs Up

Barry - why don't you take a turn driving tonight, it's a lot of fun, just don't do the loop-de-loops like SJ!  Let's go!

Jim,

What was the Krylon color that you used for the green on the base? I tried the Super Clean that you recommended for stripping paint, and that appears to be doing a fantastic job.Thumbs Up

I was able to get the 342AC that I got for Christmas running last night.Yeah!!  Someone was inside the tender at some point and had the wiring to the plug all messed up.  I unsoldered everything and went back through with the diagram to set everything right.  It runs properly now, but I will take the engine apart just so that I can be sure everything is in order.

Ran trains for an hour NO PILE UPs.

Evening folks!

Don't know about this global warming stuff. Just about used up all our firewood here - usually have about 1/4 cord+ left over each year. I have just 1/4 cord left. Been in the 40's and low 50s each day - freezing at night. Probably be 70 next week?

Wife and I went to local steak place and sat at the bar having a couple of drinks and a couple of appetizers for dinner. Watching the Texas Tech raiders in the Alamo Bowl.

Regards, Roy

Good Evening from Blueberryhill....

It was cold today. No new snow. Going down to 13 tonite.

Today was an easy day. Didn't do much. Leg was sore, so I didn't venture to the train room. I wish I would have built it on the first floor. Tomorrow has to happen. I need to run trains. I feel this deep passion to crack the throttle and watch the engine move the cars forward down the track.  Pheeewwww......... That's bad.

I have been eating very well. Had a bowl of Cheerios and an egg omlet on the Dining car this morning. Then, I sent it to " Points West ". I hope it wasn't empty.

Y'all have a great evening.

 Evening all,

Was a Beautiful Day here today, somewhere between 75 & 80.

There was a train show in Anahiem today, right across from Disneyland.  The issue is parking is $10, admission was $7, so wife said she would go and walk through Downtown Disney, (which is free), and drop me off at the Train Show.  What a deal!  I ended up with a major purchase of some plastic road signs, and a bunch of plastic Parking Meters.  That was it.  Then went over to D'land, and walked through the Shopping area.  Man was that crowded!  Lots and Lots of Red Shirts and Oregon shirts walking around.  Disney sure did well today, given that admission is around $90/person or so.  We ended up having a great lunch and watched people walk by.  (Filet Mignon Cheeseburger?)  Never had that before.

Then did an interview on a talk radio station for one of our new product lines, and exchanged some stuff at Sears.   Going to have to work tomorrow at an outdoor swap meet.  Will be trying out a new display, running a printer using an inverter and Marine 12v Battery.

Evening all

Just checking in.  Boy, there is a lot of American FLyer activity on the forum!  That's great, but the additional interest may cause me to loose some auctions Smile,Wink, & Grin

I finished the restoration on the two 592 and the 600 crossing gates. I am very pleased with the way they turned out.  I need to order a small gate and decals and they will be done.  I'll post some pics of them then.

Stay warm, it is to get really cold tonight

May God bless

Evening folks.  Had a nice day up at FIL's.  Did have a nice view of a Genesee and Wyoming engine.  Was not able to stop and take a photo though.  Nice paint scheme, so I will have to make that a "to do" list addition.  Going to get on the layout as I want to get some more painting done and start placing some accessories to see if it "works".

Well, best get to it.  Hope it is a great one for everyone.

Sunny and maybe up to 20.

Happy Birthday, Laz.

As much as it pains this Spartan to say it, I'm glad the Buckeyes won.  Actually turned out to be a reasonable game.  The first half started like it was going to be a blow out.

I sent an e-mail to our favorite publisher about the defect in my Pocket Price guide.  The answer came back that there will be a new one arriving via mail next week.

My wife brought home a copy of The Idiot's Guide to 2012 from the library.  Interesting reading, mostly about the Myans.  Had to overlook some glareing errors on astronomical facts, though.

All for now.

Good afternoon all,

It is partly cloudy and cold in SE Indiana.  A belated Happy Birthday to Laz!  I will hoist an Old Mil in your honor on the Tardis tonight!  I did go to the YMCA today to do soccer drills, weights and treadmill.  Did over a mile on the treadmill.  Finished a book on the excavations around Jamestown.  Took a little while but it was interesting what they were able to recover. I had bran muffins on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
