Good morning all,

It is supposed to get rainy and cooler in SE Indiana today.  I ran the Alaska set last night on the back porch with only a few pileups.  I went to the YMCA and did soccer drills, treadmill and finished off with weights.  I balanced the checkbook (always a chore), and swept the back porch.  Work was very long and today looks to be the same.  Looking forward to four day weekend.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after "V".  Fearless (and safe) prediction.  Donny Osmond will win "Dancing with the Stars".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning,

Just sent the wife off to work after preparing breakfast. Now the dog (yellow lab "Daisy") gets walked, I head for church. When I return it will be serious basement cleaning for Christmas. Need to make room for 25 adults and 25 children. If I dont log on again, a HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all. Please keep in your thoughts and prayers those who are unable to be with their families espicially those in harms way.

Mornin’

Cloudy & Gray today, in the 60’s threatening rain tonight and tomorrow.

Well, we killed the “fatted calf” so to speak, the Princess has returned home.  We went to Maggiano’s last night for dinner, then to Barnes & Noble afterwards.  Picked up the OGRR there, good issue, but CTT had the better issue.

Mrs. cleared cleaned the area and the Christmas decorations go up today, the Princess is in the swing of things, which, is unusual, as she would rather do Halloween.  I’ll take it.  For now, she is excited about the Holiday.  Live Christmas trees are out and the space is ready for our next live-in evergreen (a Frasier Fir!).

Just got word that I’ll have to fly to South Carolina and pick up a car, then drive it back here.  HMMMM....looks like I might have time for hobby shopping...we’ll see.Whistling

Angel for those in need - especially (Doug) those traveling during the Thanksgiving Week.

That’s it for now – will check back later!

Good Morning

50s and overcast again. Sausage gravy over biscuits for breakfast.

Sorry fellow yanks but I may have goofed. I got two little Marx cars for my collection off the bay last nite and while chatting with Brutus I noticed they would be coming from N.C. and he reminded me that they could have been spiked with  grits. So I will check them real good and burn the box. Maybe check the wheels with a magnet to make sure they are metal. No big plans for the day but me and granny will get out somewhwere for a walk...S.J.

Mornin' All.

Broke down and bought a car off da-Bay. It's the 6-16776 Holiday Railsonds Box Car, if it works half as good as the halloween boxcar I'll be happy. There is the TMCC one but I can't justify $160+ for a seasonal boxcar.

Did see a couple of Dept56 buildings I'd like to add if I can find the space, Krispy Kreme & Whitecastle. Dinner Clown

Gotta get moving, more stuff to do b4 T'day, really need to find my maple brine recipe for da bird.

Angel for those in need.

Fellas,

I haven't been on here as much as usual.  Just a busy time of the the year I guess.  I did want to stop in and say that Jack (3.5 years old already) and I got down to the train room last night and ran some trains.  Im' usually the one who runs them and he watches.  Yesterday he grabbed the DCS controller and went to town.  I walked him through which button to push to make it stop, change directions, go fast and slow, and fire the rear coupler, and after one of two loops, had it all figured out.  I put the cars on the track, but he would back the engine into the car, changed directions, and accelorated around the loop, then slow down, stop at the station, and  fire the coupler again to release the car and asked me to put a different one on.  We did this same action for 20 minutes.  He also blew the horn and rang the bell.  Kids are smart if you give em a chance, and DCS and TMCC really make it easy for them.  Now If I could get him to put a car on without sparks, we would be set.

Fife, hope she is OK.  Gonna put her through Fife's driving school?
Have been on the busy side with work.  Cheesecake went over well.  Went shopping today for ingredients for another to bring to the media room on Sunday.  Also picked up some items to make the bride and I a nice meal for Thanksgiving.  I will be making London Broil stuffed with Prosciutto and Mozzarella cheese.

I purchased a Lionel Consolidation in NYC livery.  I will post a thread to ask about opinions from Laz and anyone with experience with one.  Had originally wanted a Weaver VO1000 in Central of Georgia, but they were sold out.  They are also sending a list of other specials, so I may opt  for more.  This will be a Christmas present my wife has me buying for her to give to me.

Hope everyone has a blessed night.

Evening all, the ankle is feeing better, yet still swollen huge!

Funny story.. after dinner we (me, the wife, and the three kids ages 4, 6, and 8) were playing UNO and I had Gabe the 4yr old on my team.  This was the second or third time he had seen the game and so he was holding some of my cards and putting the matches on the stack.  We used a wild card cause we didn't have a match and when my wife asked what color, Gabe blurted out GREEN!!!!  Well we didn't have any green and were down to two or three cards..... so wouldn't you know it, as it came around to our turn it was still green so we proceded to draw and draw and draw some more..... I think I pulled about 15 cards.  My wife was rolling on the floor she was laughing so hard.  Some how we ended up wining that hand....not quite sure how, but it will always be remembered as the UNO hand that Gabe asked for the color he wanted, and not the color he had to throw down.... just priceless....

Fifey, hope all is OK [there goes the Ins. rates Shock].

Howard B, RI during the holdiays reminds me of, "Chestnuts roasting over an open fire."

Back to Home for the Holdiays.   To me Holly Hunter is the only good thing in that one.  Wifey love the movie [about like some of her family Wink ].  BTW: she has gotten over being ill.

Had a good Church Thanksgiving meal and short service.

Prayers are out for Fife's Princess, DJSpanky's family, Brent & Q, Dennis' ankle, Chief's finger, JImSP, 8nT's wife,  Bob, and all the rest of us and our loved ones.  I think I had 4 or 5 pages to read to get caught up just since Sunday night!  Dennis, Jon, Patrick and all others - thanks.  It's really humbling to have so many great guys praying for us.

SJ - good plan, can't be too careful!  Laugh

Doug - glad you made it to your Mom's house okay and hope that the illness passes ASAP!

8nT - it was around 50 when I went to work and then got up around 55 I think?  But, we had a big rain today.  Finally cleared off and my son had to go do the band thing at a local school game.  Well, they didn't bring his instrument from school, so he had to just sit there - he was totally bummed.

Short talk with RT today - glad you are doing better buddy!  Nice talk with SJ too - we were cracking Bill Cosby jokes, always great Smile

TARDIS is ready and just need to switch the atomic batteries to power and turbines to speed - here we go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Grey & in the 50's today.  Windy too.

Bummer about the missing instrument, Brutus.

Fifi - hope your daughter is OK.  This is one of life's 'teachable moments'.

Last month's reorganization at work is filtering down into the trenches.  A couple of guys are moving their offices across the plant into the area I'm in.  We are getting filled up.  Comments have also been made about the mismatched office furniture we are using and the fact that there are floors of empty desks up in the corporate office building.  Possible furniture upgrade?

Stopped by the LHS to check on my items ordered with November deliveries.  No indication that they are on the way.  Not really surprised, though.

Later all.

Another night at the scope. One of the engineers is up to check out some of the issues w/ the receiver and of course it's behaving right now. Will start shutting down during day shift tomorrow. Just me and the Taiwanese 'til Friday.

Fife - glad to hear your daughter was ok. I remember piling up my parent's Volvo when I was in high school.

Rich - Glad to hear your daughter is back home. Hope the holidays are good for the family.

We were gonna swap one of the blower motors from one of the other furnace units, but darned if there wasn't a light fixture in the way. At least we could get a decent look at the other side of the motor w/ a mirror so we could be sure to order the right one. I've always said if I ever meet one of the contractors who built this place I'm gonna be tempted to just haul off and deck 'em. Some of those guys prob couldn't have found their rear end w/ two hands, a road map, and a tour guide.

Got a pretty good deal on a KW off the bay. Should have plenty of power now for the whole set up now w/ the RW I repaired for the yard and/or accessories. Have been thinking of ZWs for a while, but besides the expense, I just can't get into the looks of them.

HI GYZ,

47 and rainy again.  Last day with kidos.  Then BUCK SEASON on Monday.

DENNIS,  I have the NYC Consolidation.  It runs well and sounds fantastic.  The only carp I have with it is the cherry switch they used for the one chuff per revolution of the wheels.  The cherry switch doen't catch up with the revolutions and when its going fast sounds all jumbled up.  Otherwise its a great puller and nice looking engine.

Stay frosty,

Good Morning everyone!  For many (not me), this is their "Friday" from work.  I am on call till Monday, so....  Anyway, so much to be thankful for this year.  While it has been a tough year, times like this also allow us to see the kind nature of so many of our friends and family.  Also, we are thankful for the number of years we have had the ones we love.  I am also thankful for this forum and for the hobby that has kept me out of trouble in most respects, and in trouble in others....SWMBO can attest to that.  But it has offered a great opportunity to pass along knowledge to my kids.

Brutus, Bill Cosby is an example of good clean fun.  Enjoy his comedy.  I really liked that one special where he talks about how Momma always said "Make sure you wear clean underwear in case you are in a accident!"  Now, if a truck is about to hit you, first you say it...then you do it.  So I keep a pair of clean underwear in the glove box to change into after "it" happens.

Got a package from ChooChoo last night.  It was listed as a Rock Island box car, but it was really a N&W...which I prefer.  Thought it would be as the photo showed the right one, but the box has RI on it.  Just keep that in mind for those who bid.  Go with what the photo shows.

Well, not much happening at work today.  Only one case to be concerned with (unless emergencies come up), but we try to keep the schedule lite as both patients and staff need to be with their families this time of year.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and mild (for now) in SE Indiana.  Did soccer drills (9 touches), treadmill (13:20 mile), and weights at the YMCA last night.  Watched "V", which won't be on until again until March.  Hmmmm....  Going to see "2012" tonight.  Dennis H., glad to see another Hoosier posting regularly on the pot so we can share superlatives about living in the best state of the country lol.  Dennis W., good words about the value of the pot.  Fife, sorry to hear about daughter's wreck.  Glad she is ok.  Will be on the road semi-early so I may not post tomorrow until late. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL, after setting the wayback machine to make up for the late movie ending.  I hope everyone has a good day and a good Thanksgiving.

I want everyone here to know how grateful I am for the support we give each other through out this and every year.  As Doug M., puts it on his signature line about "...band of brothers..", that is very true.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all.  Happy Thanksgiving Eve.  Lots of yuz giz have taken off while us hard working Social Security guys have to keep at our "chores" [wifey is still home, be glad when she goes to MIL's for baking].  Errands to run for wifey [carry clothes to Goodwill and pick up new lighted reindeer from ACE, old ones about had it].  Greenhouse to water.  Wish we could see some SUN.  Still above freezing.  Might hit the 33 degree mark this weekend.  Need to take some turnips to Miss Edna too.  Hope all have a safe and happy few days [today is one of the busyest travel days of the year].

Fife,

I hope your daughter is alright. I had a close call with a Mack dump truck four years ago as I was driving the PGT home after picking it up from the ATX rebuild. Realizing I missed the stop sign, I paniced and stopped in the middle of the intersection. I looked to the right and saw the truck approaching at about 40 MPH. I got out of the way just in time. I still have nightmaares occasionally.

Chief,

You SS guys are lucky.Wink I've got to work 8AM-2PM tomorrow.Sad

Where's the Phish? I have been wondering if he won that 600 on ebay, and the suspense is killing me.Smile I just bought myself a Christmas gift this morning, and I can't wait for Christmas now. This Flyer bug is terrible.Big Smile
