IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s and a long day of meetings ahead of me. Spanky, sorry to hear about the situation with your parents. One of the side benefits of this forum is the increased "religiosity" that one acquires from this group. There are no aetheists in foxholes, cancer wards or this forum. Dennis, I am sure if you wanted to, you could find the basis for at least 10 or more inspirational movies from the accounts listed here amongst us. For all who need prayers now and for all who have received them in the past and who will need them in the future (I think that covers all of us), I offer my own meek petitions and I hope whatever form of the Deity you follow will help those in need.
I got an e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend (dopey grin time). I had the regular fare on the dining car before sending it to "Points East". TBIL, and I am glad the Lock-ons helped. I hope everyone has a good day.

I am taking this morning off to serve at a funeral later this morning. A friend had beat cancer 12 years ago, and then it came back. She was a great lady.
Rich (and everyone) – Sorry for the delay in getting the cars in and out in the exchange. I thought I had mailed out one only to find the person I asked to mail it forgot! This is why you will have two coming at you.
Bob – The 342(AC) is one of my favorites. A friend gave it to me. It was his when he a boy. The AC on some steamers was to note that it would operate on both AC & DC, as most AF trains did because they had a universal motor. There were some that were marked DC i.e. 342DC, which were DC only.
Spanky – God bless you for taking care of your folks! Unfortunately our culture is beginning to ignore the value of life of the elderly; yes a part of it is the proposed health care. OOPs was that my outside voice!
Chief – Amazing how conversation tone changes when others see your friends Smith and Wesson with you, wasn’t yours a Glock?
Mitch – We are seeing a huge increase in families coming to the food pantry for food. The dinner we held Saturday fed 516 people. The Deacons of our Diocese have a fund raiser every year and we raised $5000, and the money is coming to our deanery for our local food pantries.
Ray – Happy Anniversary! Are you going out for dinner?

Home Again -- Home Again Jiggedy Jog............ walked in the door last night about 10:40 after an unventful flight from Houston, that's a good thing. We by passed Denver on this trip thinking snow might be an issue, won't do that again, just too many hours in the silver tin can going via Houston. What a great trip to San Diego, truly a wonderful destination and the San Diego Train Museum was one of our highlights with our host Doug The next time we go we will stop in again, there are things we wanted to do but we simply ran out of time, also want to hook up with Don B. and Ray. We aren't sure when the next trip will be but a trip in February would sure be nice ...........
I have the laundry started and will head to the Y, the grocery store and oh yes---the airport! My cell phone fell out of my coat pocket while we were on the mini bus to get to the extended parking lot. The driver called our home # before we got here so I'll stop and pick it up this morning ........ it's always good to tip the driver

Morning. Wet and chilly. Had to take cough meds last night so been up itching since 4 AM [getting allergic to codeine] but not really awake. Reclinerizing a lot. Wake up and drink some coffee and go right back to sleep.
Glad to see the retired blow hard over the hill horn blower made it home OK.
Got things to do in the house and wifey is home. That means, "Do this." and "Do that." and "Move this." and "Move that." Then I say, "Do it yourself!" That is when I recoup my EMS fee I pay each year. I do need to move a lot of engine boxes to the attic. Carrying lots of her stuff to Goodwill.

Chief, one thing you can try is to take benadryl with the cough medicine. In most cases, that will help with the itching. Also, will make for a better sleep. You can get it over the counter. Just make sure you plan on a full night's rest as you will be groggy in the morning if you don't get enough sleep.

Its Chilly here too. I'm taking it easy for a few days. X-Rays confirmed my fall from the roof only twisted my ankle so nothing major, just some pain and swelling. Guess I'll be helping the wifo clean the house for Thansgiving, well I was up for that anyway.

DJSpanky, You've had a tought week, our thoughts and prayers are with you. My FIL is going though the early stages of dementia, still remembers immediate family, but not many others. If he doesn't see someone for a while, will forget them.

Sorry I’m on a downer here. I’m not. Seems like the more challenges occur, the more I look toward the Christmas season. At my lowest point last week, I still felt the tinge of excitement with the Holidays coming. I have the basic Thanksgiving shopping done, but, a short story....I was looking for a 25lb turkey and all I could find was 19-21 pounders. On the bottom of the freeze there was a big (BIG) bird and I hefted it up and put it on the side. Alas, no 25 pounder, so I looked at the tag – 29.45 lbs!! In typical guy fashion, I bought it. And, just so you know, I’m the one that has to cook it. I’m thinking left over until the 4th of July...., at least.
Still wrangling over money for PHL, geez, some HR people don’t have a clue....

Think I'm going to sneak away this afternoon, finish up on the shelves of a couple of weeks ago. Need to stretch the height of one shelf 3/8, so the desired cars fit. (Will check out how the Tardis shelves are secured, they are ALWAYS bigger than what they appear.)
Boy, was I really impressed with that Helix, sure wish I could incorporate it! Thought about the Dinning room Hutch again, but it was a fleating thought. Imagine.... Track coming out of the train room window, then on a ramp to the Hutch, (similiar to a hump yard), then off the yard onto the Helix, which is suspended from the ceiling and circumventing the chandelier, then coming off with a slight downgrade back thru the window, and connect to the track running around the ceiling of the train room. Hmmmm could do, wonder how many blocks? Or if it would require another TIU. Think its about time for Kay to go on a trip to visit her relatives.
Need to go, I want to go check out RR software, later...........

Lots of things challenging a lot of folks here. Wish all could be swept away with a wave of the hand. Guess sometimes it helps just to get it off your chest. Not my way; I tend to internalize alot. Running trains is good therapy.

A little cloudy, still near 80 for a high today. Supposed to cool down thursday night to the mid 50's for south Florida, anjdevil going to get cooler than me.
Been over to the Bachmann website on their forum equivalent or ask Bach Mann page. From what I can see, Bachmann is trying to boost sales of the Williams line by offering ready to run starter sets, complete with track & transformer. I bought a few Williams parts from Bachmann, also bought a new scenery item from Scene Scapes by Bachmann, cats with a trash can for O gauge.

I have been meaning to check in, but I've been busy. I just finished a lot of online work, and I need to study for the Ecnomics test tomorrow morning. The weekend was relatively uneventful with the failure of the DVD drive in Xbox 360 #2 being the most exciting thing that happened. I took it back and bought an Elite model to replace it.

Are you installing your games to the hard drive ? It keeps that dvd player from being used big time . It only has to read the disk once and then no more just to verify your game disk is in . Now that you have a bigger hard drive it's well worth it and the games load and run faster . My son's was spinng all the time ... I finally convinced him ... after his 3rd laser and second drive . Now it does'nt .
Spanky ... I had to backtrack alot here to see what was going on ... feel for you buddy .... all my prayers are with you . My mom went through that same situation too ... I know the feeling well . At times I just got extremely sad and other times I cried over her . Be as strong as you can ... they both will need you now . Don't get upset with your dad for not telling you ... just hold them both close and show them all the love you can ... some folks just don't tell others their troubles ... God would'nt have put it on your shoulders to bear if he did'nt think you could'nt handle it .

Well all of the items on "my" to do list yesterday didn't get touched, got shanghaied by SWMBO to wash windows and move furniture(again). Oh well, got groceries done early this morning and yard work done afterwards. Even had time to unpack saturday's trains and return them to their appropriate places.

Well we got to 51 today but the clock is ticken.
I had most of the day to myself as granny went to help a friend peel and prep apples most of the day. At least we have a gadget that peels things so that helped them a lot. Did some CTT reading and gave the new 0-8-0 a few laps. Banilla is waiting so come on by with the thingy.
Started out 50's and sunny. Clouds moved in later in the afternoon.
Got word that my recent e-bay refugees are on the way. Hopefully sometime this week......
Prayers for those in need, as there seems to be plenty here lately.
The turkey is thawing in the refrigerator, most of the other goodies are stocked in the pantry, about the only things left are obtaining pie crust, lemons, and topping off the propane.

Went out to Menards with the wife this morning, and boy was it sore after all that walking and I tried to play it cool with my crutches and/or the cart..phew.....
Chief, dock to dock that just sounds nav'uller(how the heck do you spell that?) from one who spent time on the doughnut in the middle of the night........(The doughnut was a floating tank used to catch oil that would get pumped overboard (bilge pumping) from a naval ship while tied up to a pier)

Now that I have the space, I will install as many games as possible. I spent some time deleting all of those trial games and videos to free up more space. With the 20GB HDD that was with both of the previous Pro models, I had to pick one game to install until I got tired of it. I've got Forza 3 installed, and I'll do the others tomorrow or Wednesday.
An interesting day here at the 'scope. Fortunately, I slept thru most of it. Lots of teething issues w/ the changes made to the system this year. The engineers just love to change things. You start to troubleshoot and realize you are comparing apples and kiwi fruit. Will try and hammer out the Christmas schedule tonight so I can finally book that trip. Oh, and in order to get that blower assembly out we are going to have to cut a hole in the side of the unit.
Was trying to find some track planning software that will work on Linux last night. Found an Xtrkcad program that is supposed too, but none of the downloads worked. I think they have some kind of a forum so I'll have to ask around.

There was a nice 342AC on ebay last night that went for only $117. And no, I didn't bid on it. That was tough trying to hold back on that one.
Good night. As I had said, Wifey at home, too much "junk". Moved things upstairs and moved things downstairs. Moved more up and more back down. Only thing good was moved curio downstairs to dining room. Took Youngest's Snow Babies collection [she has never gotten for her house] stored away and my Hallmark "Trains" collection put inside. Think that was a bribe for all the other rearanging I did. Got Dr's apt for stitches out and then a big bar-be-que meal. Then big bags of "Goodwill" to take away. I wear clothes out, she just wears them and gives them away. Sleep tight.
Morning all not a lot happening as at work today. Spanky been there done that with my mom only thing my dad past away about 8 years prior so it was just her. we ended up having to put her in a nursing home as we didn't have anybody to be with her. she would turn stove on forget she did go get in the car and forget where she was going or head in the oppiste direction she needed to go. Best of luck and may you have angles helping you.
Haven't really kept up with everything but did also read where Bill H. hurt his ankle trying to be superman from the roof so watch them jumps there as the first step is a big one hope your ankle mends well and quickly. take it easy there guy. Between you and the chief trying to jump piers I just don't know.
Well hopefully we have figured out whats been giving me my lightheadness my doctor took me off my cholsetral meds and they have seem to disapear so it must of been a mixure of my meds.
well there goes the timer on one of the carts so time to get going hope all have a good day.
