Back from Raleigh and the haunted trolley ride and the haunted Mordici/Joel Lane House. Wifey wanted to go to it. Was not that bad [or good either]. Wifey had some of her family over for hot dogs before we went. Got there and they were giving free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks. Wifey had not done her homework on this event.
Now for some halloween cup cakes. Later

Pretty busy day. Got the hair cut. Started taking the layout down. Jim, your words keep going through my mind about the rebuild will be better made it not quite as sad. Preached the homily at Mass came home and youngest daughter in from Cincinnati. She took the grandkids to the orchard and got apples and pumpkins. We carved pumpkins. Lots of fun.
May God bless
Jim
Hello all,
just a quick sip before bed.
Chief, condolences to Frankie on the loss of his pet. I had to put down our two year old Doberman three years ago. He had a nasty habit of biting. Talked to several animal behavior people and the consensus was best put him down before he hurts someone. Twas a sad day.
My main reason for stopping in tonight. I found the link to the Horseshoe Curve web cam. You may also want to check out the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.
2nd half of the day wasn't to bad. I mssed it any way because I had to work.
Altoona Train Show with my grandson in the morning. I may go to the office in the afternoon. depends on my mood and the weather. It's supposed to be nice but I really should get some more work done on the project I'm bidding.
I'm off to bed.
prayers for all who may need them

Evening All,
Sorry to hear about Frankie's Dog, sounds like neglect to me also. Should have been monitored!
Will get some photos up tomorrow on SPF, wish it ran all weekend, instead of just Sunday. Won't get my photos up till tomorrow night. Won't have time tomorrow am, have to be at the Show at 5:30am. Looks like we will be working weekends till the first of the year. Then hopefully things will change.
An update on the "dancer". There seems to be some change in the "tenecy". The old man still lives there, with the girl, and her boyfriend lives in the garage. (3 bedroom house?). I think one of the neighbors reported to the city someone was living in the garage. Anyway he is moving out, or something. Two dumpsters where brought up and they have been filled twice, meantime it appears the police have been doing "progress" checks. They show up every couple of days, with a clipboard, make an inspection then leave. So don't really know what is gong on. (By the way, the old man IS from the UK, not sure wether Scotland, or England.)
Haven't had anytime with trains lately, looking forward to getting back their soon! Next weekend for sure, company coming in from Milwaukee so will have a BBQ Sat, and will certainly need to run them for 2 nephews.
Good Night and Good Bless
Don
Good evening everyone. I was quite busy trying to get things set for today. Bride was at work all day and her sister and family arrived around 5pm and MIL showed up about 8pm. Bride got in shortly afterwards. Dinner was Pappa John's Pizza and desert was the earlier mentioned bourbon chocolate pecan pie and brownies. I made an extra pie for the Tardis ride and another for the media team tomorrow. (don't worry, alcohol evaporates in cooking, just leaves the flavor).
I am sure it will be an early morning as I'll make breakfast before heading to church. Then, we will have lunch and head to the pumpkin patch for some fall fun. Also, wife wants more boiled peanuts.
Upto the New York/New Jersey layout in CTT. Would have finished the issue if I wasn't so busy with other tasks, but at least I get a little peace and quiet in the "reading room". Hope everyone has a blessed night. Looking forward to seeing Sunday Photo Fun tomorrow night.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Morning all
Just a quick check in before going to unlock the church. I got the SFP started. Hope all enjoy a great day
Hi GYZ,
Cooler here at 48 this morning and leaves all over the place. Gotta suck up leaves with mower this afternoon.
STURFISH, saved those pumpkin seeds for next year and plant your own. We use to do it and had vines all over the yard.
BANKs, buddy of mine is going out to NEELY TRAINS in ALTOONA. He bought some stuff from him at YORK, and told him he'd give great deals if he goes out to the store. NS Oil can set he was selling at YORK for 600 bucks. That was 25 bucks better then I got it for.
Stay frosty,
Good morning
Cloudy and 48

Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Sunny & 54 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Fall colors seem to be at their best right now. Spent last night at the dock, playing cards with some buddies. Even presented a little sailboat trophey to the winner. Then I battoned down the hatches and spent the night on-board. Interesting being in a bunk. Cozy, yet cramped.
Morning boys! Got up and made a big breakfast for the family, now I'm waiting my turn for a shower and company was due here about 5 minutes ago. Maybe they will be a little late! TTFN!
Hello everyone!
Sorry I haven't checked in lately, college, family duties and friends have taken up every waking hour of my day. I don't even get enough sleep anymore, but thats probably to be expected.
My photography hobby has been keeping me sane. Last Saturday, and today, I caught pictures of the NH&I shortline running out of Warminster Station, destined to arrive in New Hope. The pictures turned out well, in my opinion.
I've actually set my sights on a new camera by Canon. It's the new EOS 7D with an awesome 15-135mm stock lens. It's still not available on the market yet, but when it comes out, I'm definitely going to buy it.
School has been really good actually. I love almost all my teachers, but some of them are a little iffy. I've decided to change my major, from criminal justice over to journalism. I've found than I really like to write, and I'm hoping to land a job with any of these three magazines: National Georgaphic, Road and Track, or Sports Illustrated. These three magazines include all my passions, so I'd like to work for them.
Anyway, here are some pictures for you guys to look at! Enjoy them.
Colin
^ The crossing has no arms, just lights. I was still shocked to see people crossing the tracks with a train literally 10 feet away from them, coming right at them.
Morning all. Cloudy and breezy. Not suppose to be cloudy per weatherperson. Guess he forgot to look outside. Well, he did say the high thin clouds were not showing up on radar. Mighty cloudy to me. Being lazy today. Feel a little "off center".
Colin, good to hear from you. Those folks need to ride the NS Operation Lifesaver train and see the presentation. A train hitting a car is like you running over a aluminum soda can in the highway.

tmcc "college boy" - Good lookin' GP30 (my favorite diesel). Still surprised to see the cat poles still up in that area. Thanks for checkin' in.
Chief - We have numerous RR-xings in my area, which occasionally I'll sit on when I see a train approaching. ...like moths to the flame.

SIR JAMES,
When playing against DA PROs, do they give you tipss, like keep your head down, slow easy back swing, keep that arm stiff on backswing?
Quick check in before heading back to church for a class before services. Colin, good to hear from you. You may also want to include Popular Mechanics into the roster of potential employers. That also hits upon some of your passions.
Still have MIL over, but the rest of the gang left.Fife, perhaps you are becoming a navy boy! The story of your sleeping in a cramped hammock got images of Gilligan's Island in my head. Looks like you will have plenty to occupy your time come retirement.
God Bless,Dennis
dwiemer - Timeline for "semi" retirement is 5 years away. Lots can happen between now and then. Three kids "should" be headed to college, while wifey and me will be headed to WV. Sailing will definitely be a part of those plans. For now, it's just a pleasant distraction.

Engineer see vehicle sitting on the tracks and not moving, he has to go to emergency. To take engine out of emergency, train has to come to a complete stop. Not funny to engineer.
Been at the pond most of the afternoon. Just walking in the woods. Found fresh emplty can of kernel corn. Some corn in the water. Jones boys been trying ot catch the big grass carp I have in there. Wonder how many more times they have done this and I did not know. So fresh, had to be yesterday afternoon after I visited or this AM. May have been there and heard me coming, hid in the woods, waited for me to go over the dam and then ran home. I went to the back cable first to check it. Then came to the range and shot the match grade SW .22 some. Notified all the users and PD, Jones Boys are now trespassers. Sat on truck tailgate at top of the hill where I had feed deer corn at the bottom. One deer kept snorting at me over and over. Guess she did not like the new calone Pam bought me. I smelt different so she did not know me. Funny she would not leave but stood in the bushes next to truck and snorted. Time for some food. Later.

ChiefEagles RT, I have found that if I go to an auction site, it is ChooChoo. The rest I do not trust.
I have as a whole done very well on Ebay. Ebay has gotten where its basicly in the favor of the buyer over the seller. Although I have had great deals with choochoo basicly charlie theres a few on there that I think charlie is trying to run off as they buy stuff then relist it at a very high price will also list it on ebay at same time. I like charlie also but most of his auction start a little higher than I would see on ebay but then he don't have the traffic either so when he list low a lot of times you get ir at a low price.
TMCC.....Good to hear from you.
Yard work today. Mow and mulched grass and leaves. Brought hoses in for the winter. Pulled out the tomatoe plants. Took down the patio umbrella.
Back to work tomorrow.

Good evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio
IT was really nice outside today. I spent a good part of today packing up the things on the layout. Looks pretty empty. I'll take the legs off the table and see if I can get it out of the bedroom without taking it completly apart. Oh well, time to start planning the next one. I guess I better find a space first!
Going to do a little reading before heading off to bed.
Aloha and good evening. Back from church 'trunk or treat' - the youngest loved it. Boy, did the Bears get shellacked today - they looked terrible. Raked some leaves for him to jump in too. I guess it is raining now. Back to work tomorrow. Never did get to trains.

Jim,
There is a season to everything. Just consider that this layout has had it's season and now its time for the track to lie fallow. Before you know it you will be assembling another Flyerville. I have always appreciated your layout, its compactness and sense of whimsy. I'll miss seeing new pictures of it. I am sure that you have lots of photos to continue to post. If there is anything in S you need to see just let me know, I might be able to go digging through the S gauge boxes and post a picture for you. In the meantime, just remember there are a many Flyer lovers out here who are saddened for your loss.

Hello all
I was checking some E-bay auctions and decided to have a quick sip before bed (won one lost one)
Got a pleasant suprise this morning. Wife, daughter and grandaughter accompanied grandson and I to Train Show. I spent only one dollar but left with a great deal of satisfaction. Saw a lot of train buddies I get to see only once or twice a year. All were glad to see my family. Several remembered the kids traveling with me way back when.
Laz- I've known Dick Neely for many moons. He signed me in at York on my only trip there 20+ years ago. I've never been to his store. When I was dealing with him most he was still working out of his home. Great Guy.
Well I best get to bed. I never did make it to the office today. I'm planing on getting there by 4:30 tomorrow.
Prayers for all who may need them
