Back in town for a few days and back up in the morning. May have some snow up there. Of course we will have the receiver ready just to wait for the weather to clear. Have some more time to finish up the maintenance I guess.

Best Wishes Charlie!

Dennis thoughts and prayers for your mom.

Brutus - best of luck w/ your progress. D@#$ the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!

Jim - Another 302! Cool!

Wow, did I ever reclinerize.  Ate a Subway at 8, turn on TV and went away.  Lucy woke me up and took them out for break.  Came in to watch more TV and just woke up.  Drove all day.  Got to Mom's to turn around and drive back for two TV interviews.  Then off to hospital to visit Debbie who had to get started back breathing twice.  Doing better when I left.  Here is one of the interviews:

http://wake.mync.com/site/Wake/news/story/43696/location-for-new-wake-high-school-still-up-for-debate/

Notice the Yankee that the School Board has just hired do the talking and he knows nothing of the site.  The guy near the end is the newly elected School Board member who will be sworn in first of Dec.  He represents this district and says the site is gone.  All the parents and public say it is wrong place.  Old members are trying to force it through anyway before they leave.  BTW: Yankee will probably be looking a job in Dec.

Dennis, prayers for your Mom.

Charlie, we are waiting.

Bob, send the "weather" our way.  Need rain bad.  Spiting and light showers is all we can get.

Good night.

Good morning all,

It is foggy in SE Indiana.  Not that I watched much of "Dancing with the Stars" this season, but any interest I had is gone now that Sabrina (Melissa Joan Hart) was voted off.  The "saucy wench" and I went to the local high school band Halloween concert.  There were some people sitting in the aisle across from us who evidently had never been to a show before.  They talked and laughed incessantly.  We kept thinking they would settle down once the music started, but they just got louder.  Finally we moved to another section.  After that was over, I went to the YMCA for some weights and soccer drills.  Still trying to get to 10 touches in a row.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East".  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day (and thank you, Patrick, for commenting on "Liberty Meadows").  Thoughts and prayers going out to those who need them.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha all. Is it? Can it be? Yes, it looks like the sun - burning off the fog. We've had rain something like 20 days of this month - some record of sorts. Ms. Meadows is sure inspirational. Prayers for your mom, Dennis. Nice chat on the train ride home with Brutus, Sir J and Charlie - I noticed I'm approaching 295,000 miles of commuting on the former Chicago and North Western... where would that take me? To the moon but not back. Hope to run some trains tonight or at least move my big 'ol semaphore.

Morning all.  WOW, guess Mike and Laz are the only ones up this AM. Whistling  In fact, I slept till 8:20.  Lucy just got up!!!!  Burg just snoozes unitl "Sissy" gets up.  Then the world gets active.  Misty and warm.  Suppose top clear out.  Off to a big luncheon and then some free time before a reception this evening.  Embarq Communications has been bought by CenturyLink.  Requested to attend to meet new biggies.  Probably do news conference tomorrow endorcing the guy running for the last school board position.  Runoff but lady has dropped out and given him her endorsement.  Our crazy law says we have to have election and by chance he does not get the most votes, he does not win.  Then the present BAD school board appoints the person.  They will probably appoint the guy who is presently representing the district and was overwhelmingly defeated.  Now you can understand how bad the present school board is.

Later.

PS: see Doug M is up and posted while I was typing.

That was fast. Sun gone. Fog wins. I see Meadows is the name of the place, not the person. Still inspirational. Go get 'em, Chief!

Good Morning all

Chief – That statue is really neat.  Is it McCoy pottery?

Jim – Did you see the 4 piece 302 with the 650 passenger cars set on eBay?  Mikethegeek is selling them.  I’ve bought a lot of stuff from him.  They are nice but expensive!

Dennis – prayers especially for your mom.

The cold / flu / crud is going around the hose.  The boy and one of the girls and my bride have it.  It makes you want to wear a mask around the house!

May God bless

The Chief and the Jungle Girl. There has to be a few stories in that! I'll bet Don B can come up with one for the next SPF!

Pat

Pat, Remember this is a family forum, "Jungle Girl" would probably get me banned.  Now maybe something on Frank and his High School??

Jim,

There was a 4 piece 302 from a seller in MO on ebay the night that I bought the 1 piece, but I passed. There will be a Greenberg show in Monroeville, PA on November 14-15, so I'll request off work on the 14th and go.  Hopefully, I'll get a 4 piece there. If not, they do show up on ebay occasionally. Thanks for watching though. The last thing that I need right now is more 650s.Smile

Good Afternoon everyone.  Mom is doing better, for now.  She has had her symptoms relieved, but will have to wait till the 6th for the surgery.  Thanks for the prayers.  Was going to post early this morning, but SWMBO had a mission for me.  Daughter was dressed up this morning as a princess for preschool.  Tonight, she well be dressed as a "Japanese Princess", which is funny as she is Chinese.  Son will be a Clone Wars Trooper (From StarWars).  They have a "CandyFest" at our church tonight.

I am currently waiting for Fed Ex to bring a package from ChooChoo.  Won three box cars.  Someone Sniped me on a Wabash Hudson, but that's OK, I have too many right now anyway.

Jon and any other bike riders here, saw a program this morning called "Beyond Tomorrow" in which they were showing a new helmet from ReeVu.  It has a mirror system that allows for rear view at the top of the visor.  Allows you to get a good view of what's behind you.  No idea on cost.

Hope it is a good day for everyone.

Evening all,

Everybody is hacking and coughing except for the oldest girl and me.  I'm thinking I may go out and stay in the camper!

Jim FGood job on the bathroom.  Too bad minds could not be made up weeks ago.  Been there done that!

Jim - The 302 is one of my favorites and the 4 piece boiler is at the topof the list.  I really like the extra linkage that was put on on the late 40's and early 50's.  They saved the extra linkage for the top of the line in the late 50's and early 60's.

May God bless

Good Evening

Sunny 62 today.

looks like I will be losing $44.00 a month next year. Thats how much my B/CB/S is going up and since we are not getting a COLA this year.....Of course in the past B/C got most of the COLA anyway but this time, well you know I can't say it here.

I have had my banilla but there is plenty for the Tardis guys. Come on down.

Dennis and Brutus,

Sending prayers your way. Sorry I forgot to say that before.

Jim,

I saw that set that you mentioned. I'd love to have that, but I don't have the $$ right now. My dad received a 4 piece 302 for Christmas in 1948 or 49, but apparently my grandfather stripped it for parts in the 60s to fix another loco. All that is left is the boiler, steamchest, and pilot. I am determined to find another.

Dennis - prayers for your Mom.  Also, for all in need.

No rain today, although it was still damp and cold.  Supposed to rain until the weekend now I think.  Stopped and picked up some gravel, cement mix, and a board to use as a tool for the cement job.  Signed up for OT on Saturday and we have a party to go to later that day, so will work on the basement on Sunday.  Need to get some cardboard too, so I can make a template and drywall that one stair-wall.

Social Worker left a message - doctor is going to come up with a timeline for us for our next meeting.  I guess we need to schedule a meeting then.  Last time we saw him, donor medical examination was imminent and they did not schedule a monthly meeting for November.  I guess that changed, since they haven't asked insurance to approve the donor examination yet.  So disappointed in this medical team.  We will have to really pin them down on stuff this time, not just get blown off another month.

TARDIS is ready so let's hit it guys - blastoff!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Oh - we are apparently going to get a 2 percent raise this year, but they "carve out" a locality pay, so I will probably get like 1.1 percent in my locality.  Insurance overall is going up about 8 to 9 percent.  BCBS is doing away with our plan so we will have to move to a different BCBS plan.  I'm sure that will cost us some money.  Oh, and apparently the brainiacs in Congress and a certain White House want to tax us on the value of our health/benefits pacakge per Fedweek.  We didn't get a 5.8 percent raise last year or anything like that either, so we got the run around 2 years in a row now.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

 Brutus'

I retired from the postal service. We get no SS but our pension does get the same COLA as do people onSocial Security. So I too do not get a raise also I did not get a tax break but a 250 tax credit at the end of the year.

My health care plan is going up $32 more a month and a three month prescription for my insulin is going up $25 a prescription that's comes out to a $50 a month increase.

I also don't get the purposed $200-$250 one time payment. It seems like Federal retiree's get it all Right In The End

Evening all.  Been fighting on waste of taxpayers' dollars and I see Govt. Employees getting a COLA.  What!!!!!  How out ragious.   Its armed robery.  Stop the train!!!! Laugh  Us Social Security folks can't get a raise.  Well, that is OK.  If Govt Employees get one, means they have to pay more taxes.   Don't begrudge anyone who can get a raise.

Well, put in over 12 hours for the Town today.  Going to the lake tomorrow for a few days.  Good night all.

Guys... careful with discussion on SS COLA. You don't want to open that can o' worms here. Just be thankful you get to receive some of the money you've put in to the system. Those of us under 50 will most likely never see any of the money we put into that sink hole. And just an FYI - every worker in America sees their medical benefits expenses increase every year... it is best to end this discussion here.

Sunny and low 60's here in Sedalia.

Got back home Saturday at 11pm.  That trip was about 23 hours door to door.  Was wiped out on Sunday.  Watched NASCAR and reclinerized. Stayed home and took care of four weeks worth of stuff that had stacked up around home on Monday.  Back to work on Tuesday.  Yup.  The plant is still there.

Stopped by the local hobby shop to discover that my PE Elf hand car and girder bridge came in.  Had to test the hand car and run trains a bit last night.

While we are commiserating about raises and the cost of health insurance, I'll just mention that the company I work for is in Chapter 11.  No raises this year.  I'll be surprised if they happen next year, too.  Next week is open enrollment time for the health insurance.  I'm sure that will be going up $20 or $30 per month.  The bankruptsy court approved executive bonuses though. Grumpy

Brutus - you will get spoiled if you keep doing home projects the easy way!  With concrete AND plumbing, you made a wise choice.

Prayers for those in need.

Sure is good to be home!

HI GYZ,

55 and drizzle this morning to get to 62?  Last nite for GOLF tonite with BRO, then put  the clocks back an hour on Sunday morn.  WINGs & YUENGs tonite after GOLF.

SPANKY, might have to start thinking about a knee brace?  I have two bad knees and use a neopreme sleeve on the worst one when Mr. Art Ridus comes around.  The trapped heat in the sleeve seems to loosen up the stiffness.  For your V ball you might want to get one with side starps to keep it in place?  Good luck with em.

Good Mornin, Ya'll, from overcast Taxachusetts,

Sorry for my MIA status.  Life's alligators fairly under control now.  New granddaughter is thriving, and granddaughter #1 now realizes that she is not the center of the universe any more.  "What's with that?" she seems to be asking.  Grampy doing his best to help with this transition.......walked her down to the ice cream place last Sunday in a torrential rain.  Kids think it's fun.  Grandparents have another take on it. Smile  The women thought it was a good idea too.  Should have taken a wagon to haul the stuff home.  Nonetheless Dinner

Dennis.....prayers for your Mom.  JimSP, hope your family is doing better this morning and you are not next on the crud list.  Wasn't Charlie having a baby?  And Jim, don't kill the health care workers until AFTER they get this stuff straightened out because it will only delay things worse if that is at all possible.

Chief......sorry to hear about Frankie's pup.  Losing two in two years rips your heart out.  We lost two unexpectedly within three days of each other last Thanksgiving, but you guys propped me up,  Thanks again.  Wife and I still miss them terribly.  Not simply a case of going out and getting another.  As one poster said, they become like your child only they listen better. Smile

Weather forecast for Halloween is looking spectacular......partly cloudy and perhaps close to 70.  Granddaughters coming over tonight for dinner and to carve the massive pumpkins I acquired.  My wife cannot understand why I keep picking out the gargantuan ones.  Guess I'm still a kid in an older guy's body.  We will be hosting a houseful for Halloween, a family tradition.  Dinner, kiddie pictures in their costumes, followed by trick or treat, then sports on TV for the boys.  My daughter and son-in-law's friends with little ones always join us.  Our place continues to be party central of sorts, and their friends are our friends.  I am blessed with a wife who has created a family culture that keeps us all close knit and there for each other.

Thirty year old son has moved out, again.  Yahoo!  This time I have created a cause from some concern on his part as I have been continuously loading up his car with his junk, like I am saying SAYONARA for the last time.  We all know better.  They leave but won't stay gone.  Must be doing something wrong.  Any advice on this front would be greatly appreciated.  My wife makes things too easy for the kids, so he takes that to mean he doesn't have to leave the nest permanently.  I should kick it up a few notches, get a dumpster plunked in the driveway, invite the kids over on a ruse, and then declare "Dumpster or your car.  Pick it."  Then reclaim my basement for the layout I have been dreaming about FOREVER.

Later, gang.

Jack

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 70.  I will be doing yard work tonight.  I had a good work last night at the YMCA.  Weights went well, soccer drills went very well, and even did a half mile on the treadmill.  No TV last night except for Charlie Brown show.  I had a little extra on the dining car this morning for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  Jack, glad to see you are back with your observations.  Really have missed those, but understand why.  Fortunately not in your shoes....yet with returning kids.  TBIL, and I can drive.  Have the Old Mils icy cold as it will be a long day at work.  I hope everyone has a good day.  Thoughts and prayers going out to who all need them.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from “Paradise” Banged Head

Up to 85 AGAIN with high humidity – lots o fog today as well.  Same forecast through the weekend – 72 for the SPOOK-tacular on Saturday.  Have the backdrops up and the lights, just need the headstones and wire up the lights and SFX and we’ll be ready for the little goblins.

Angel for youse that need ‘em.  I have backtracked the ‘pot, but it’s early and I can’t remember all y’all – sorry.

Weekend in Orlando was fabulous.  Weather cooperated again this year, got to all 8 Haunted Houses and the replica Central Park was jam packed with jack o’lanterns everywhere (my favorite part of the park).  Actually went swimming Monday morning in the heated pool and then to collapse in the hot tub.  Tranquil 30 hours for sure.

Stopped in Colonial Hobby & Photo in O’town, picked up some 21st Century curves and some trucks for my MPC cars.  Nice place.  Will go back on next visit later this month or next.  Also got my Atlas O club car and the TCA-MG 3 car livestock cars this week.  Just got my milk car dock from eBay.

Project Satellite is gone – the kid that picked it up was thrilled and surprised I was that honest in the description.  He’s happy and I have a few extra coin in my bank – even though I lost $1500 on the deal – but it’s gone.

Hey Jack – Nice to see ya!

I’ll check in later – today at work is “school spirit” day, I, of course, wore my NJ Fire College (Professional Certification Edition)!

 Good morning all:

Hay Jon - I am itching to comment on the politics of the COLA, SS, Insurance costs, etc. mentioned by S.J., Brutus, Chief, Don T, Brent, Bill F. and others, but I promised you I wouldn't talk politics so I wont. All their posts remain so I guess the monitors are OK with them.

tim o'm - I like the Hershey Halloween train. Hadn't seen it before.Thumbs Up

Sign - Welcome back Jack!

Spanky - Bummer on the knee thing. Makes it hard to get under the train table. Thumbs Down
