Good morning.

Rain and very windy all nite. From 74 yesterday to 49 high for today. Those neighbors who raked yesterday have a big suprise this morning when they look outside.  Rain is gone but not the wind.  Granny is going to bake cookies and fix a meatloaf.  Happy Halloween.BOOoo

Aloha all. Sunny and windy Halloween. Glad you're OK, RT. Prayers for those officers, Fife. Have a busy day - soccer was cancelled - too wet (and that's the end of the season too) - October ended up with 21 days of rain, but the youngest has a Christmas choir practice, then heading into the city to celebrate my niece's birthdays, then back for trick-or-treating. . .

 Good morning,

Rt, Take care of yourself.  That is one scary looking puppy.  Smile

Fife, Condolences on the loss of your friend.  Prayers for the wounded.  We live in a dangerous world.

SirJames, You are having my favorite meal, prefer a good meat loaf to steak.

Laz, Bring the tractor on down, got lots of leaves for you.  Will have to get out Monday and get started on them I guess.  It is supposed to be sunny, also need to winterize the pond as it is to go down to 25 on next Friday night.

Had a pretty good cold snap for the past few days (for Tucson anyway). We got maybe an inch of snow on the site. Back at home and the adobe walls are slow to warm back up. Had the worst day of my over 7 years at the scope on Thursday. Here we are trying to get back into operation and everything just seems to be breaking. As of Wed night I couldn't close the doors. Ended up w/ a 10" gap in the roof and no idea why. Boss was leaving for a week and a half vacation and was already the centipede in the sack race. We had more people in the scope than you could shake a stick at and the blasted windbird went down again. Plus the 4WD was out on one of the trucks.  In the morning was in the shop and the doorbell rang and was cursing a tour or whatever. Opened the door to our most capable engineer. To me it was like Jesus in horn-rimmed glasses. After a lot of trouble-shooting we figured out the problem w/ the doors. Bad power supply. I hear Dave figured out the windbird and the flipping '97 Blazer in headed to surplus.

Had to leave early Friday morning for an appointment w/ the podiatrist. Here I thought they were just going to dig out whatever was in there a month and a half ago. 3 appointments and an MRI later, they are scheduling me for surgery. Want me to stay off of it for 2 to 6 weeks after the surgery. Work is going to love that. May be able to just wear some kind of boot, we'll just have to see. Will this ever end?

Chief - prayers and condolences for your family

RT - hang in there and hope yu are doing better

Mike - congrats on the 11 touches! Was some cool news I needed to hear.

Hope to make a run to the landfill later on w/ some of the last stuff to clean out the garage. Priced out the parts for the Corvair. Turns out the guy I was talking to was also diabetic and had blood pressure issues and we spent some time talking about that. Small world we live in.

Happy Halloween!

Flew through the house to drees for funeral home thing.  Now back to change into jeans and slipover.  Went for chilly and damp to hot.   Got some plants to pickup to carry back to the lake house.  Wanted to say thanks for all the kind words and prayers.  Good reunion [under circumstances] with younger step-daughter by EX, along with Ex's brothers and wives [they have always been my buddies and friends] and folks I use to live in the neighborhood with.

RT, get well but with face like below, you can't help it.

Brutus;

Noticed that Lionel dad shipped the Gateman on 10/23. Was on Legacy Station site earlier this week. They no longer had the Gateman listed. I called yesterday and they said they would ship mine out. Waiting for it to arrive!!!

Fife,

Sorry to hear about those officers. I hope the suspects get what they deserve.  You, as well as all of your fellow officers, have my respect.

RT,

Glad to know that you are feeling better.

The last two days have been very busy for me. I went to buy the harness to install the CD player in the Probe yesterday, and I got a suprise as I was walking back to the Sunfire. I see  this guy down on his his knees with a key in his hand ready to scratch the car. I came up behind him and scared him pretty good and he took off  across the parking lot. Fortunately, I got to him before he did any damage.

Did anybody watch Ghost Adventures Live on the Travel channel last night? I started watching at 8PM, but I accidentally reclinerized at 11.Zzz The show wasn't as exciting as I was expecting it to be.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s.  Fife, sorry to hear about the loss of your fellow officers.  Enjoyed a good junior high musical directed by the oldest daughter last night.  Very funny.  I spent today cleaning out a back closet that was overrun with stuff.  Boxed some of it and put out in the barn, and pitched a lot of dried out paint cans.  Still have to reorganize some things.  We have had relatively few trick or treaters tonight.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Had a few trick or treaters here tonight better show than last year where I had 3 I think in one group. Had about 15 so far tonight

Back from Trick or Treating with the youngest. Glad I still have one to take out. Bought his coat with me even though he said 'Iron Man doesn't need a coat' because it was about 35. Glad I did because he needed it. Went all over the place and came back to a house almost out of the bags of candy we bought - lots of kids this year - probably because it was a Saturday and everyone was home. Now to recover...

Fife, Sorry to hear about the officers.
Doug, We too just got back with the kids from trick or treating....son didn't want to go, or for that matter, dress up.  Daughter was bringing in a big haul and son wanted her candy!  Needless to say, wife told him "NO", and also, if you are not dressed you can't go asking for candy.  He was not happy.  We got home and daughter gave him half anyway...cause that is just the way she is.

Lots of folks out in the neighborhood behind us.  Normal deal is, someone hooks a tractor up with a long trailer with hay bails on it.  The kids ride along from house to house and all hit at once.  Some folks driving around from other neighborhoods, but not many.  Lots of police presence too.  Was nice to see them patrolling.

Well, wife is working tomorrow and I will be bringing the kids to church as well as on camera, so it will keep me busy.  We shall see, usually, one of our friends will come and get the kids from behind me while I am on camera.  Then, she will take them with her kids to Sunday School.

Chief, glad things went as well as could for the funeral.

Did work on the layout a little.  Did some plaster work with some colored plaster mix.  Also, did some work on the scratch building I am making.  Needless to say, my fingers have a fair amount of black paint on them and I will try to get them cleaner for church.  Should have used the Liquid Glove, but as usual, think about it after it is too late.

God Bless,
Dennis

RT,

LOL. My dad said the same thing when I told him what happened. I didn't think of that. Instead, I put my fist into the back of the guy's head, which bounced it off the door. I am not normally a violent person, but when someone tries to destroy something that I am working hard to pay for, that's a different story.

Dennis,

Where can you buy Liquid Glove? I could use that for work since I handle a lot of cardboard, and the skin on my hands dries and cracks badly.

Howdy guys!

Fife - prayers for those guys and families.  Bob - Hope your foot is okay soon man, you are right, it's just one thing after the other lately for us all.  Prayers for all of us and our loved ones.

Worked 6 hours of OT then picked up some goodies to take to a party.  Had chili and pizza there and watched Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein, which is always great!  Had to get home before dark though as Chewy does not like the kiddos in the yard.

TARDIS is ready and all systems are go, so let's hit that road guys :)

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

 Hello all,

Didn't get much accomplished today. Put the bagger on the Gravely this morning.ready to gather leaves and it started to rain, Spent a couple hours putting an electric motor back together and helping my son mount it on an old elevator he drug home from an auction. Seemed like a hassle but it will make less work to put the corn in the corn crib.

This evening I started to organize some in the basement and ran trains a few minutes. Going to bed soon.

Fife, prayers for your fellow officers

Actually bought some candy at the store in case some kids came by, figuring I'd end up taking it to the scope. Had 12 - 15 kids come by so I was glad I did. The TV is gone and the garage is ready for work. Would like to have the Corvair running soon, so I may use it to practice for assembling the MGB. Plus I want to do a nice job on the engine compartment on the B before I drop it in.

I'm not having much pain in my foot at this point, only when I step on it just right in bare feet or socks. But they would rather take it out sooner  than later and since I have had melanoma before they are being cautious. Hope it doesn't affect work much, but we gotta do what we gotta do.

Off to church in the morning. First time in a while w/ my schedule. Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Hi All,

Had a great day. Grandma and I went to the triplet's last soccer game of the season. It was wet and windy in Wixom, MI. Fortunately, the rain and wind gusts ended in time to go out with the robot (trip's brother) , ninja turtle, pirate and sunflower. Family sure makes life worth living. Going to the Gratiot Valley train show tomorrow. I have orders to "Just Look" . I will have to. Ordered a few items from the Lionel catalog and will owe Wild Bill.

Fife, condolences on the loss of your fellow officer.

Good evening all, kind of pooped out today.  Had to put in a new submersible sump pump behind my garage today.  Old one gave up the ghost last week.  Got a reducer bushing to connect my 1 1/4"drain pipe to 1 1/2"  discharge opening on the pump.  Tested OK and everything works fine.  Pump will pump 60 gal. per minute which I need when it rains to keep my garage from flooding.  Main work was cleaning up the area around the sump removing old mud, dirt, weeds and other debris.  Installed wire mesh screen around sump to strain out any large items from going in sump.  It was hot here today working in the open sun.  Probably got a sun tan and I was sweating a lot too.  Halloween is just about over now.  Had a few more kids than last year but it was all over after 9:00PM.  When I was a kid right after WWII, we used to stay out until midnight trick or treating.  It was the only chance for us not to affluent kids to get a lot of candy.  Kids now-a-days spend most of their night at the local park where games and treats are handed out and they have a big  bon fire every year which the fire department extinquishes after it is over.  Looks like the Phillies are headed for a defeat at this writing from the dreaded Yankees tonight.  Score was 6 to 4 last time I looked around the 8th inning.  Set your clocks back one hour tonight to standard time.

Good night all,

Ray

 Hey Good Sunday Morning!

Can't sleep, the idiots in the development behind us as still partying and very noisy.

Fife - Angel for your fellow officers - hope that punishment is swift

Had another great Halloween display and lot of kids.  Found out some come out from other developments just to see out display.  I'm impressed, glad they like the show.  It's all in good fun.

It was just me again, the wife watched TV, the Princess and son went out.  Princess made a cameo for about 15 minutes as the Queen of Hearts, then went out with friends, in costume.  Was home by 1130.

Tomorrow have to de-construct the front yard.  More fun.  Harley is back and runs good again.  Told the HD guys it would be back before Turkey Day.  We'll see if that happens.Banged Head

Yankees win and so did my Devils - looking good for the HOME teams - Giants need to beat the Eagles tomorrow and that will be the trifecta!

Check ya later!

Good morning all

Forgot to set the clocks back!  Oh well, internal clock had me waking up anyway.  Didn't realize it till after I had breakfast.  I'll go to church earlier and say my morning prayers in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

Well the layout is now offically history.  I had to cut it into four sections to get it down the stairs.  Next lauout will be made in modules that can come apart into managable pieces!.  I am going to start a list of improvements to make on the next layout.

Fife - I will include your fellow officer in my prayers this morning during Mass.

May God bless

Mornin' boys.  Wet.

Thanks for the warm wishes.  Bad guys ---> Dead.  Nuff said.

Wifey's co-worker brought her grandson over for trick-or-treat, and of course wanted to see the trains.  I hooked up the signals temporarily, cleaned off the benchwork, and ran a long freight for him.  He loved it...so did I.  Sat in the dark and let-em roll long after company departed.

Back to the signals; I just can't get them hooked up right.  Following the directions, but I know something is ommitted or in error.  May have to throw a thread up there.

Belated morning - just getting ready to work on the totem pole for my daughter and now wife started it.  Apparently there was a "miscommunication".  That'll teach me, lol!  Well, I am doing laundry and need to patch the concrete and I guess mow the lawn one last time this year?  Maybe just work on drywall and stuff in the basement if the ground is still too soft - we have had rain for days and days here, with just a few breaks.  TTFN!

Good afternoon everyone.  Had a great morning at Church.  Pastor just returned from preaching at the Michigan State convention.  Told us how depressed Flint Michigan was.  Lots of vacated houses and businesses.  Good to take stock of where we are and how blessed we are.

After Sunday School, took the kids out to lunch with another family.  Now, one of our friend's kids is here with our own.  They are all upstairs playing school (The friend was in my son's class the last two years).  I will try to get the house clean before SWMBO gets home.  Have found that keeping the bride happy, allows me to be happy!

Charlie, "Liquid Glove" is the name of the original, but I believe several off brands are now available.  Can probably get it in your local auto parts store.  Just tell them you want the lotion that you rub into your skin before getting dirty.  Essentially, it is a thick Lanolin lotion that you rub into your skin till about dry.  Then, go about doing your dirty work.  When you wash with soap and water, you will be amazed at how clean your hands get.  I will try Googling it to see if I can find it that way.  If so, I will post.

I am on call this coming week.  Hope it is quiet.  Have some big layout work I want to jump on.  I am ordering Dennis Brennan's book.  With any luck, I will have plenty of extra tips to add that "Pizazz" to my pike.
