HI GYZ AGAIN,

Forgot to tell ya, I also picked up the new LIONEL CATALOG yesterday at BARRYs TRAIN SHOP.  Nice stuff especially the Heritage series of the NORFOLK SOUTHERN SERIES with the PRR SD70s and the NS BLUE SD70.  Real nice.  Also the little TRACKMOBILES are real cool but at $299, MSRP wow don't know bout that one.  Pick one up or go to LIONEL.com and check it out.

Mornin' boys.  Raining and 64 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Chief - Sell me a marine battery charger.  Really.  The one on my sailboat (30 years old) is disconnected, and not supplying any juice from the 110 feed from the dock.

anjdevil - Aren't the Russians still in Georgia...?

Phish - 46.  What a shame.  I run into so many people that the world would be better served with their early exit...Sigh

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again.  What a difference a week makes.  Although the scores do not reflect it, "my" soccer girls displayed great effort and improvement in play last night.  The JV lost 7-0 and the varsity 4-0 to  a top 20 team in the state.  I was really really proud of the effort and intensity they showed.  If they can bring this level of play to their remaining games, they may salvage something from this season yet.  I had an extra donut on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it to "Points East".  I think we picked up everybody that was on the scope last night.  It is amazing what else that scanner shows (most of which I cannot mention here :-) ), but as they say in Vegas, "What happens on the Tardis, stays on the Tardis!"  If I am not needed in the driver's seat, I will gladly "navigate".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

fife,

your photonic humor brought a smile to my face. Smile

BTW, there is a rumor going around about a special delivery here on the Blue Board Central.  The Old Guys down at the coffee shop have been talking about it all week.  I took some photons that I am sure you will enjoy seeing on SPF.

Have a great day folks.

Good Morning

Cooler but sun is shining.

Well we rode home with Doug M. last nite but the local transit changed their website and I could not find the route. Good ride anyway. Big breakfast this morning means a walk and no lunch. Hmm wonder whats for supper:). I guess I will preorder the Strasburg Docksider even though they do not have one, I like the little RR. Have a great day...S.J.

Fife--there seems to a clog in the artery of the car exchange, someone is sitting on 2 and possibly 3 cars that need to be sent on.  I don't have one, Don B. doesn't have one and apparently you don't either, hmmmmmmm.

Fife,

Did you hear about the college student in your and 88's area who took matters into his own hands when someone broke into his garage?Thumbs Up I read the news story online yesterday.

Jim,

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Bob,

I replied to your PM.  If you talk to your brother, ask him if there is a strong gas smell when the car runs. If there is, it is a very easy fix.

I got more work done on the layout yesterday, and I have a very sore back today. I got the elevated tracks done, so I am going to start on scenery asap. The Flyer 21166 that I got on ebay finally arrived, and I will be opening the box shortly.

Hello all,

Just a quick check in on my friends during lunch.  Not sure what the weather is like outside, no outside access from here.

Thank you for the condolences for the loss of my friend.  I have no doubt she is in the presence of the Lord, but her family misses her desperately.

Won another car off fleabay; a 23743 Track Maintenance Car.  I had one already but this one is in better shape.  I am not into boxes but it even had the clearpack box.  Maybe at some time I will get time for some new pictures.  I am preaching this weekend and the homily is still in rough draft so there are a few hours in an already crowded week.

May God bless

Jim

jonadel - I think we are a month behind.  Ehh, things happen.  Don B has Kurt's car now.  Jefelectric just got two.  Nothing on my pike at the moment.

Sorry about the cars fellas. I was neck deep in stuff from work and home and got a bit behind. I have photos of Doug's inspection car and Jon's JD car to post as soon as I get a few minutes. I haven't received word on the next shipment from NC.

Been off and on for the past few weeks and not sure when I'll be back on here on a more regular basis. York is not looking good for me unfortunately. I will make it to dinner on Thursday if someone can let me know when and where. The sunroom/screened porch project is taking a lot more time and money than I would have hoped, and my vacation time is dwindling... just too much 'Life' I guess. Sure do need a vacation... from work, from home, etc.

Fife - I didn't even catch the photon-fun the first time. Must still be adjusting to the altitude:)

Well off to start climbing around the telescope.

I just finished cleaning the 21166. I spent a considerable amount of time looking for screws to remove, but I finally noticed that the boiler snaps onto the frame.Banged Head It was very dirty, but it looks to have very few miles on it. I forgot how cheaply made these 21166s are. There is so much plastic that I thought I was working on something else.Sign - Oops I have been thinking about customizing this 21166 since it is of little interest to collectors. I am thinking of adding a working headlight and fan driven smoke unit. I have to open my hotbox reefer to see if the smoke unit receives track power.

Hello all.

Been too busy to keep up on all the forums, thought I would drop in and say hi and see whats new.

I see most of the gang is still here.

Sounds like the car exchange thing is still up and running.

I have joined the NMRA recently, and have a layout(lionel display layout) under construction have 2 loops up so far one is actualy done the other is waiting for me to decide how to elevate it. There are two more loops to be added as well. I like both toy and scale trains.

Jon - I remembered you and your son biked across the northern mid-west. I agree about the completion time of Mount Rushmore. It appears now as much time is spent on maintenance as on building.

RT - How about a Georgia beach peach?Whistling

Brutus - Didn't get to drive last night - maybe to night. If not, there is always Don's neighbor to play with (go fish?) TBIL

Mike - I agree "What happens on the Tardis, stays on the Tardis!" Fortnightly for me!Laugh

I have read a lot abut the "car exchange". Is anyone willing to say what is it and who can be apart of it?Confused

 Evenin' Guys...

Was up to the mid 80's today and rained a bit in the afternoon, partly cloudy the rest of the day.

Princess has quit the school dance team and has gone back to a outside dance school.  She is in pointe class and was aasked to try out for the senior dance company which (not surprising) she made.  She has been reunited with her first instructor whom she hasn't seen since she was 6 or 7 (she's 17 now).  She is very happy with this so far, so we'll see how it goes.

Jim Phish - Angel for your friend

The Interchange Cars (Coffee Pot Interchange) are a like a traveling piece of rolling stock, every month the rolling stock goes from one place to another, getting "face time" on your layout, then on to the next person on the list.  Some are dated and autographed on the car, some have way bills and some have some history of the car from which it came.  My car is a NJ Zinc slurry car.  My favorites are things from NJ (like you couldn't guess), so that's what I sent out.  If all goes well, I should have my car back by the New Year, having traveled North to PA, NC, MD, IA and as far west as CA.

Right now, I have John F's Lehigh & New England Boxcar by WIlliams.  WOW!! A really nice item.  Pictures are on last weeks SPF.

If I left anything out, someone will correct me for sure.

OK Check ya later!

HI GYZ,

FIFE,  I'll have NS OIL CANS on this Sundays Photo Fun?  Hopefully?  I got them out of the box but didn't put em on the tracks yet.  Tomorrow, gonna run em if it rains.  Or if it doesn't rain I'll be playing GOLF, against BRO.  Stay tuned.

Any of YUZ GYZ click on the blue arrow to take you right to the poster, and just get the top of page then have to scroll down?  Mine must be broke cause I can never go right to the poster of the thread.  Just my observation.  Frustrating!

Stay frosty,

Called and figured out the delay on my GP9 and it is supposed to be here tomorrow Thumbs Up

Checked out the Lionel catalog online - that Dewitt Clinton (Why do I always think it's Clinton Dewitt?) will eat up a big chunk of my train money next year (I assume!), but that's about all that got my interest.

CXSect,

             Welcome back.

I pulled the smoke unit out of the hotbox reefer, but I decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to put it in the 21166 due to the plastic boiler. So, I took the 21166 downstairs to put it on a shelf. Then I saw my 1946 2020 Turbine, and I remembered how much I hate lamp type smoke generators. After some time at the kitchen table, I have a one of a kind 2020!Big Smile Puts MTH smoke output to shame. Pics and possibility video to follow in the near future...

Mostly sunny and low 80's.

SJ - Will you be able to post pictures of your new Texas Special B unit on SPH?  I was considering one.  Seeing pictures would be interesting.

Bob - the poster floating around our office about meetings goes something like this:

Lonely?, Board? - Schedule a meeting!

You will be able to talk to people, look busy, HAVE DONUTS!

Meetings, the proctical way to waste time.

I stopped by my LHS and picked up the new Lionel catalog.  Nothing really screams at me, though there are a couple of items that whisper.  I don't remember who mentioned it, but the Mt. Rushmore box car is neat.  The Federal Bailout Mint car is kind of nifty too.

Later all.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI (as a refresher for those who are using the "home" version of the coffeepot, that stands for It is another beautiful sunny day in south east Indiana) with temps in the 70s.  I did weights and some treadmill work at the YMCA last night.  Watched "America's Got Talent" last night.  The chicken farmer won, which was no big surprise.  They had some interesting guest acts, ranging from Rascal Flatts to Susan Boyle to Shakira.  Shakira, omg, she is very....flexible.  If Don's neighbor is one tenth as limber as Shakira, it is a wonder California has not fallen off the edge with all that....movement.  It will be interesting to see if "my" soccer girls can bring Tuesday's intensity to tonight's game.  I had an extra donut on the dining car for breakfast in addition to the regular fare.  TBIL, and I can drive after the game as my voice will not be worth a hoot after the games tonight.  I hope everyone (especially "my" soccer girls) has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 64 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Been super-dee-dooper busy at work.

Chief - Have to get back to you on the batteries.

CPI = Coffee Pot Interchange.

About this time last year I read on one of the other sites about guys that were exchanging cars to run on each other's railroads.  I then put out feelers on who might be interested in such an exchange, and at the end of the day, we wound up with a dozen participants.  The idea is to have each car forwarded each month to a new "home", with the car making at least one appearance on Sunday Photo Fun, so that the participants can track its progress.  Some of the more creative members have worked extra hard on story lines, to the delight of everybody.  At the end of the year, each car will have travelled over 7000 miles, from coast-to-coast, in 9 states.  To me, my 70's era LIONEL Chessie Hi-Cube boxcar was already one of my favorites...having it travel across the US, spending time with friends, will make it that much more special.

Once this round is over, I'll give it a hiatus for a few months, then put out feelers for round 2.
