Good morning guys (almost noon now)!  Stayed up until nearly 1 AM for some reason, but slept in this morning so it's all good Smile

Thomas is upgraded and will put a link on the Sunday Photo Thread too.

Afternoon all.  Great day.  Sunday School and then a Hardee's chicken biscuit [Southern Fried Wink].  Just finished making a 1/2 gal of sweet tea for the day.  Triple digits and high humidity so will stay inside today.  Will go check pond and sit for a little "meditation" as a quite peaceful place surrounded by town and vehicles.

Pat, you got some funny jokes.  Get my laugh everyday from them.

Brutus, great job on the Thomas.

Folks from Ioway always exaggerate when telling their "tales". Whistling   Comes from breathing the hog farm bouquet.  In this case it is really over exaggerated due to the lack of oxygen to the brain.  That is the the results of an "over the hill" band teacher who blew his horn too much. Laugh

Need to run some trains and shoot some photos of all the scale NS box cars I have.  A "baked" CA guy told me he had never seen one.

Have a great week ahead.

Thanks guys - no, that's the original whistle board, but the ERR card seems to be sending a longer pulse than a transformer does?  They had me put a resistor between the DC Commander board and the whistle board, in the trigger wire, which was easy.  Plus, it's getting about 18 volts from the track to the whistle board, so that might be making a difference?  The whistle board is separately powered from the engine pickups.

Aloha everyone. Back from serving on camera at church. Boy, I love doing that; video directing is more like work.
Fife - compliments on the tackle, and thanks for serving us. Bob, I love going to a planetarium show. Need to visit the Adler one of these days.  Mitch, the youngest starts school in just 9 days - in a multi-grade room. Should be interesting. Just tried buying software through an approved vendor from work for the daughter's computer - what a joke - verify your eligibility. Eligibility verified. Try to buy. You are not eligible. Sigh. Another phone call for Monday.  Brutus, Thomas looks great. After all my angst, that's just how his whistle - I guess I'd call it a horn - sounds - and Percy and James too. Thanks for the video reassurance.

Need a good office/computer chair with arms?  Go to CVS Pharmacy.  $29+  Easy to assemble and great.  Has power cylinder to adjust height.  Needed one real bad.  Just finished assemblying.  Folks at the pond shooting and fishing.  Guy taught all ladies Carry Conceal class.  Neighbor up the street and his son were fishing.  Hot and humid.  Cooking tomato, okra, onion, bell pepper, long horn pepper, cyanine pepper and jalapeno pepper soup [few spices thrown in].  Last year it was so hot, I burned my lips and they peeled a few days later.  UMMMM  Later

I was hoping I would hear from D Baker about the Bull Frog Snot.  He must be busy.

Chief sounds as busy as a one armed paper hanger again (as usual).  Puts us all to shame.  I like tomatoes, okra, bell pepper and all that stuff but can't handle the hot ones anymore due to bad plumbing.

Got a call from my youngest son who is in Ohio today.  He went to a train slide show or something like that in Cincinatti yesterday.  He went to the NASCAR race today where ever that was.

Had a good operating session today with the trains.  No wrecks!  Changed a tire on my Hudson yesterday and put a dab of crazy glue under it.  Did'nt work out right, so stripped it off and put a new tire on. Works better now.

Chief, with all those gun classes etc. down your way, must not be many burglers in the neighborhood.  I would'nt want to tick anybody off down there.  Sounds like they are all armed and dangerous.  Only gun I ever had besides in the military was a 12 gauge single barrel shotgun my Dad bought during WWII before the freeze went on stuff like that.  My total bag was one squirrel, one possum and one crow.  Saw a deer once but all I had was bird shot in the gun.  He went by me about 25 feet away being chased by dogs.  I just waved goodbye.

I'll take a ride in the Tardis tonight if it comes by here.  I know you guys are out there.  I can hear you breathing.

Have a good evening y'all

Good evening all,

It was a beautiful sunny day in north mid central Ohiozo with the temps in the 90s.  Fortunately we watched the race from a shaded, breezy fourth floor view from the main straight tower where air conditioning and all sorts of liquid refreshments were only a few steps away.  Other than Team Red finishing 1-2-3, the race was perfect.  Ryan Hunter-Reay brought AJ's car home in fourth for the best finish of the season.  After the race, I was able to talk to Ryan, shake his hand, and get his autograph.  He is a nice personable fellow who took the time to pose with some of the younger fans as well.  Got to meet some of the other drivers and get autographs.  Host company (Westfield Insuance) even found a traffic free way to leave the track.  We were on I-71 20 minutes after leaving the grounds.  I have been to heaven now and it is wonderful.  To answer your question, Patrick, I am not sure I could feel the same way about a NASCAR race.  I grew up with Indycars, been to the 500 since 62 when I was 7.  I like some of the NASCAR drivers, particularly Tony Stewart (who can drive anything) and Jeff Gordon, but the passion is not there like it is for Indy cars.  There is too much history and too many memories that are forged into my psyche that are associated only with Indy cars.    I got to talk with one of the owners of the 98 car today.  The history of that car number and the family that is associated with it (Ajanian) goes back over 50 years.  A J has over 50 years there.  Andretti's go back over 40.  Penske has been with it almost that long.

I had pancakes and sausage this morning for breakfast on the dining car.  Beacon is lit.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Ray - if that wasn't you in the layout room on the Tardis all these flights, then who was it?  Hmmmm, we might have to check for infiltrators!  Mike, you want to drive tonight?

Sir James will have to be our first stop if we want to duck in under the storm I guess, so let's get going!  Charlie is not on the scanner, but with the invisibility cloak engaged we should be able to pick up Kurt too Smile  Doug, it sounds like a whistle to me, but I've listened to a lot of loud music over the years, so maybe that's it?

John - it was super easy.  I can email you the schematic for Thomas that I found on the Lionel site if you want?  I think my next project for conversion would be Percy, if I had Percy...  Hmmm!  If you do it, let me know - I'm sure you'll do a better job than I did Smile

I put white polystyrene in the windows on Clarabel to match Annie.  Need to check and see what the output is on the "headlight" control on this ERR card - doesn't say in the instructions?  I think I might wire that to some lights in the passenger cars to light them up some day.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Back from our couples small group (we're the oldest, uh most experienced pair there). Great job, Brutus! Mike, sounds like a memorable weekend. I've been to Indy for the 500 once and it was quite an experience.

Good evening from a hot and sticky deep south.  What a wonderful day!  We had a special service at church that went about 2 hours.  I was not scheduled, but ended up having to work camera 1.  My neck and back feel it, but a small consequence.  The big announcement is that our church has paid off all debts.  Mind you, this is all done with tithes, not movie money.  Since we live in the 9th poorest congressional district in the country,  it really is a miracle.  The note on the church is paid 11 years prior to due date.

Second part of the discussion was that the extra money from the church will be used for missions.  We are opening two churches, one in San Francisco, the other in a part of Baltimore, MD that is in the middle of a drug infested part of town.  Also, we are funding a church in the suburbs of Baltimore that will function as a support for the inner city church.  Great to see God working.

Tonight, I met a family from London, Ontario who came all the way down here to visit our church.  They had all kinds of questions about the movies and how our church has been blessed.  Got home a bit late, but when I did, the family and I watched a DVR'd show on the Susquehanna RR, with lots of steam action.  It's all good.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead.
God Bless,
Dennis

Stormy night here in Michigan.  Actually stormy on and off all weekend.

Houghton Lake was beautiful on Friday night..however it rained Saturday and into this morning.  Got the boat out this afternoon, however the water was pretty dirty from all the rain and the fish were not interested.  Drove home to Detroit to severe weather here. Lost power but its back...

Mornin' boys.  Suns comin' up and 75 already, here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna be a hot one.  Have court this AM, then work this afternoon.

Did get Mom out on the bay for a few hours yesterday. CoolYeah!!  It was a nice sail, and we were heeling at 20 degrees for a few stretches.  Went to Outback for din-din, but all I wanted was a bacon-cheeseburger...and a few pints o' Fosters.  Came home and jumped in kiddie-pool with youngest, had fun splashing wifey.  Got to talking about maybe getting a 24' above ground...

cheapclassics - Sounds like a great trip.

SPMan - Try sending Don a PM.  Also, sometimes it helps to use bold type and a splash of color to get someones attention.

Thanks Buddy.  Wifey sent email from work saying the same.  Guess no weedeating the pond bank and etc.  Yes, tripple digits with high humidity.  Town Hall and errand day for me.  If you are off, ride the breezes on the water.  If you work, A/C in car and do not make many stops.  No "traffic work".   Frankie has SWAT school at a training center down east where it is hotter.  Oh well!!

Must agree, that is a better breakfast than GRITS.

I had red hots and egg.  Watched Elk Country Chronicles on DVR.  Also part of Extreme Trains but it was one I had seen before.  Now to get moving.  Have a great day.

Good morning all,

We had a nasty storm pass through last evening, no serious damage here but around the county, there was quite a bit. 5000 out of power, lots of trees down with one falling on an occupied car. Also a boat load had to be rescued from the river as the storm came up really fast. Today is forecast to be the hottest day of the Summer so far for us, may reach 100 with very high humidity. I was out for about 15 minutes so far to pick up a few small limbs and that was enough for me. In basement now.  Looks like this weather is widespread.

Fife, That sailing sounds like a good way to spend time on the water.

About to take a break and see if my soup is ready to eat.  Started off with Cliff Dweller mix from CO and added a few things of my own.

Another hot and dry day here. Nights seem to have been cooler recently though. They are looking into setting up this test in Scottsdale. Well, at least I can visit my friend in Tempe and Roy's Train World in Mesa while I'm there. If nothing else I need to get some smoke fluid. The 2026 smoked on the test track at the scope, but ran out the first time it was on the oval.

doug - where did the scraper and grader cars come from on your SPF pics? Would like to set up an all Seabee train someday. They may use camo color schemes now, but when I was in it was all green. Our battalion  had yet to convert over to BDU's when I got out.

Brutus - nice work on Thomas!

And did Chief actually say there was something better than grits?

Time to make some breakfast (not grits, alas) and try and get something done for today.

jefelectric - Towards the end of the trip, I turned to my mom and asked her if she thought of anything else while we were out.  She answered, "No."

She gets it...

She also commented on the switchers working the ore dock.  "Rails and sails, Mom".  Laugh

She got that too...Cool

Fife--resist the wife's recommendation for an above ground pool--BIGGER SAILBOAT on big water would be much better investment Whistling

Stood the flag line this morning at a Viet Nam vet's funeral, this was the 5th funeral this summer that Agent Orange was mentioned............... complications.  It's pretty warm today with not much wind, the gentleman next to me started to faint because of the sun and heat, I saw him going and passed off my flag and caught him--he was really out of it for quite a while.  Shade and water helped, the medic was there when I left.

Tonight is the send off dinner for 350 WW II vets in DM, their flight is early tomorrow, can't wait to visit with them tonight and greet them late tomorrow when they return.

Having fun in the train room, purchased more Artista figures Sat.--they sure don't go very far.  We have tried over the years to add more people on a regular basis, they sure add another layer of interest.  And I thought the layout was done, silly me, what was I thinking?

Gooooood Afternoon!!!

Fife – Nice tackle, not bad for a Ravens fan......Whistling

Brent – nice progress on the additionBow

Another adventurous weekend for sure.  Made my HOG orientation and Owners meeting and to say it was informative would be an understatement.  Left there to visit a salesman I know who is in a new place and then met the wife for lunch at 1.  Of course, while we’re at lunch it poured.  I got the bike dried, then found the plug wires wet, finally got home at 4, oh, yeah, tried to beat the next shower on the way home flipped the gas to reserve and ran out 1 mile from home.Banged Head  Safe to say, my arms and legs are sore from pushing 600 lbs home in 95F heat & humidity....chaperoned the Dance team at bowling, and to bed late.

The younger cat decided he wanted to rearrange things on the dresser Sunday morning Banged Headand I was up at 730.  Got bagels and coffee for the wife and myself, repaired the oldest’s Daytona (rear wheel cylinders and new bearings).  He was wanting to install a new axle shaft, but I had enough and declined for that yesterday.  Purchased the lumber and screws as I already have the glue.  Have to get to cuttin’ wood soon.  Made leftovers for dinner (roast beef, pork, rice, AuGratin potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy).

Of course, watched the Yankees this weekend and I would have been happy with a split.  Great games and we win all 4.  Smile,Wink, & GrinVERY happy ‘bout that.  NHL Opening day is about 50 days away, then I’ll really be happy!!!  Smile,Wink, & GrinOh, yeah that football preseason is starting...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Ran some trains last night, having issues with ZW, Legacy, the Bridge.  Direct wired it for last night.Banged HeadBanged Head

Evening fellas.  Got some time today (while Jack was asleep) to work in the train room some more.  I got most everything unboxed/unpacked and put on the layout.  Set up DCS, got some trains running.  I started setting buildings up in logical configurations (no power), put some bridges down, etc.  Ran trains for over 2 hours!  It was great.  Doesn't happen often enough!  Will have pictures this Sunday.

Layout is very quiet.  Indoor/Outdoor carpet on 5/8" pine plywood.  Only real different is the carpet, so that must be the real silencer.  I'm digging the classic look of the carpet!

Have a good one!
Wes
