Another very interesting day. Went to the first diabetic education class this afternoon. Mostly a one-on-one w/ a dietitian. Doctor was very nice, and it turns out we know some of the same people in astronomy. Was going thru one of my episodes at the time, somewhat worse than normal. At one point near the end of the session she starts to get pretty concerned. See where this is going? Yup, emergency room visit Number 5. Seems I can't go near a hospital w/o them getting a hold of me. Lots more bloodwork, another EKG, and a CT scan for more fun. We haven't done that one yet so what the heck. Several hours later my little episode is somewhat better and they cut me loose, and while we know more of what it isn't, we still don't know what it is. They were giving me a little grief about not taking the Prilosec, but the trouble is my doc told me not to take the prilosec. She was going to put me back on it Friday, but wanted me to wait until they figure out this next test. I do have to go to Phoenix for this one.
Dennis - what type of specialist would do the eating study? And what are your thoughts on GERD causing all this? Glad to hear your "incident" wasn't too damaging, was a good story though.
Time to collapse. More phone calls to the docs in the morning about the latest round of events. Too tired for a trip on the Tardis tonight. Just fly over and make sure I'm still breathing.

They might be in there 80's and 90's but watching the faces of 350 WW II Veterans arriving home tonight after a whirlwind trip to Washington DC to see their monuments sure lifted my spirits. They left at 6:45 AM this morning and landed tonight at about midnight, plane was late, how can that be with a charter?
With all the controversy about health care swirling around it sure is nice to see smiling faces and appreciative families, it's WAY past my bed time but I'm not tired. Just feel honored to be part of something to say thanks to The Greatest Generation.

So many roads, so little time.
Morning all. Up early for me. Got ground breaking for NC's first toll road. Then back by Town Hall, mow grass and then Lucy and I will hit the road to the lake for a couple.
Jon, great job you do with all those honors [Vets, fallen soldiers and etc.]
Bob, get well. Keep us posted.
Have a good one. Later.

Morning Chief, Someday, you will wake up with absolutely nothing on the agenda...now, wouldn't that be nice? Bob, GERD can cause a lot of different symptoms. They are finding more out every time I read a new journal. It is now being blamed for everything from asthma, to neuro deficits. This being the case, not much can be ruled out with it. With regard to the test, we are on uncharted territory here. If you were here, it would be a coordinated effort between GI, Endocrinology, Cardiac, and your nutritionist. Basically, one would take the lead, and with consultation with the others, take a full battery of tests while you eat a full meal with all the things that seem to have triggered your prior incidents. Blood, urine tests, as well as have BP monitoring and ECG. Also, have a barium swallow test for the GERD. At this stage, it looks like you would be a case for a write up, so you are looking at a University hospital setting.
Well, have to take one of the cars in for rotation and balance. Also have to build a shelf to replace the drawer in this desk so my bride will have a keyboard tray. It is a built in bookshelf/desk, so I am trying to match the existing wood/decor.
Gotta run, but I hope that everyone has a great day.God Bless,Dennis
PS: Jon, that really is a great thing you do for our vets. We have a Marine Base here and with all the action in Afghanistan, lots of folks on edge.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 70s. Had practice with "my" soccer girls. Did weights at the YMCA. Did some Second Life. Spent the day getting "caught up" at work. Submmbob, I hope they find out whatever it is that is ailing you soon so they can fix it. Dweimer, only had one engine go over the side once and had a tinplate caboose fall off due to a derailment, but I know the feeling. Jonadel, that is a great service you are performing. Brutus, those were good Buffy episodes last night. The large screen really makes the "dustings" more interesting. I had the regular fare on the dining car last night. Beacon is lit. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Aloha all. Beautiful day! Good 'ride' with Brutus, Sir James and even RT for a while there last eve. Missed the meteors - too hazy. Jon, one of those vet journeys came out of Chicago a month ago. I saw Ed Burkhardt in the Chicago Tribune yesterday - remember his days of owning the Wisconsin Central - well, they were featuring him because he's honorary Counsul General of New Zealand here - who knew. As a result of privatizing their RR... I love seeing this sign as I walk to the trains.

Good Morning
Sun is up and I want to trim the grass before it gets too hot.
Oatmeal and toast for breakfast, from here who knows.
I rode home with Doug M. and the boys last nite, RT fell asleep before the last stop But he is still a working man so he's entitled. Dennis, nice pic but sorry there was no video.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 60 degrees. Humid. Going up to 82 today with some sunshine, later.
Today is a busy day. I have some local errands to run and a bunch of chores to do, around the house. Maybe some train time later. I need to do some dusting in the train room.
Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.

I'm sorry, I can't keep up. I swear when I opened the forum yesterday, it looked different than it does today. I think I was seeing stars yesterday, yet I didn't drink that much on Monday night.
Well, we found Laz. When he gets a chance he will tell you about his new girlfriend who owns a fish camp, a 4x4, a rifle collection and a still.
Anyone every purchase anything from GOMOTORBIDS.com? I see they are an advertiser on the right side of this web page.

I checked out their web site. They have no O scale trains at all.

Ground breaking, [talk to Board members all the way there and back on three problems] two interviews and a citizen visit at the house. Finally got to eat a Hardee burger at 2:30. Mowed grass and need to spray wife's vine [little black critters attacking] but, you guessed it, started raining. Lucy and I are off to the lake.

Dennis I thought about this comment a couple of times today and the best I can think of is a honest answer and that is it would drive him nuts not having something to do for a whole day. No calls on the mayor line or, not having to cut grass or take care of the garden just can't see it happening.
Nice thought thou.
Evening all. Hows it going lazy mans night here taking it easy. Hope to list a few things on ebay Friday that got at the auction last night ( main reason for going but some of them got confiscated before I could claim them for ebay although it was the purpose supposedly by both of us lol)
Hope all have a good night beacon is on .

Good Evening All !!
Been awhile,S but still around. Havn't had a day off work since we got back from vacation. Not really surprising, but I ready to go again. Anticipate only having to work a partial weekend this week.
Sure been busy here abouts 19 pages! And just over a week, some gabby folks around here, knowledgeable but gabby. Hope that Bob's situation works out, couldn't imagine being allergic to food. Need to go back and see how everyone else is doing, in the meantime hope everyone gets to feeling better real soon.
Havn't done much (nothing) with the trains, did buy a second crossing gate, but its still sitting in the box. Maybe will get to it ssoon. In the meantime other little items keep popping up. But all it takes is time.
Have a quiet evening tonight, home alone. Think I'm going to just have a lazy night and watch a movie, (TransSiberian). Now that would be an interesting train ride.
Jon, Add my compliments to the work with the Vets, has to be truly gratifying!
Pat, The daily cartoons are fantastic.
Chief good to see you keeping busy!
I need to go back and catch up on all the activity. So until later hope everyone has a great evening.
Don
Good Evening
A nice summer day, low 80s. Got the grass trimmed and helped a neighbor lady drain here garden pond. She had let it sit without cleaning for quite awhile. Otherwise No Breaking News, just enjoyed the day. Banilla and SJ are waiting for Brutus and the thingy...S.J.
Evening all. Got home just a little bit ago. 4yo Son of some friends of ours was dropped of for a sleep over as the parents have to take their other son to Florida for a doctor's visit. He was born two months early and weighed in at 1.5 pounds. After all the troubles early in life, at 9yo, he is only about 3.5 feet tall. They are hoping some Rx will help him with growing.
Have quite the storm brewing here. Severe thunder boomers along with hail and high winds. Hope it doesn't take any trees down. We already lost power once, but usually, it doesn't go off, or if so, for only a moment.
Picked up some more foam for layout scenery. I am hoping to get some of that done this week, but we shall see.
God Bless,Dennis
Evening fellas. Been working on the layout here and there this week, as well as the rest of the train room. I'm getting things hung up, and things off of the floor. I picked up some foam road. I only got one roll. Turns out that Woodland Scenics isn't making it any more. I find it interesting because I have seen a lot of it being used on layouts. Most cost more to make than they profit. Regardless, if you find some, better snatch it up.
Went to the Columbus Zoo tonight for their wednesday kid's night. We try to go just about every wednesday. While I was there, I saw 3 couples that I knew. It's nice to see other families out enjoying the evening.
Have a good one!Wes
Good evening everyone--
Just home from a very warm/humid State Fair Parade, the only reason I go is that our oldest son is a band director and he brought his band in for the parade--160 high school kids, they did win the Governor's trophy. I parked close to the end of the parade and on my way back to the car I was forced to stop at a little pub that specializes in Blues only music, I stop there once a year for a cold one--it's important to stay hydrated I know, no lectures please.
It's going to be an early night for me, 4 hours of sleep last night just isn't enough for this old guy PLUS the Cubs are behind 12-3, pathetic is much to nice of an adjective for their pitching efforts, they needed to use the 10 run rule in the 4th inning tonight!
I'll bet all those vets are sleeping well tonight, pillow is calling me
Wes - they might just have a lot of product out in stores right now? Maybe make another batch when demand is up?
Train derailed here in town today - shut off power to some local business for a while too. Busy tracks, so I hope they have it sorted out already.
Tardis is ready and Mike's turn to drive - ready to go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
IIABSDISEI with temps in low 80s. Busy but productive day at work. Busy night at home. I walked to the YMCA and did weights and walked home. Paid some bills. Picked up sticks out of the yard. Smooth drive in the Tardis as most of the passengers were pretty mellow after the Old Mils and banilla were consumed. The rowdier ones were dropped off early (and you know who are so I won't mention any names...) I had pancakes and bacon on the dining for breakfast before sending it to "Points East" (an extra was sent to Georgia as Dweimer has been putting in extra hours lately working on Submmbob's case and another extra went out to Submmbob as well). Beacon is lit for pickup after "my" soccer girls have an intra-squad scrimmage tonight under the lights. Odds are real good for a 0-0 tie. I hope everyone has a good day.
Sun is up and heading into the 80s.
I think we shall go out for awhile this morning just to enjoy the day. Had a nice chat with some of the fellers last nite, then off to bed at eleven. Another friday the 13th on the wrong day but be careful anyway.......S.J.
Mike C. - On the Tardis ride last night, now I know why I was the last one picked up and the first one dropped off, and my ride only lasted 10 minutes!
Wes Whitmore I picked up some foam road. I only got one roll. Turns out that Woodland Scenics isn't making it any more. I find it interesting because I have seen a lot of it being used on layouts. Most cost more to make than they profit. Regardless, if you find some, better snatch it up.Wes

Wes
Wes, is the the foam roadbed that you are referring to? It is still listed on their web site. The reason I'm concerned that is what the new modular group is using as a standard.
John
Had a nice chat with Don Baker last evening, of course I forgot to ask him a question I have been wanting to ask so will call him later today. Been entering a few items in my train inventory program, need to keep it up to date. We had another .9 inches of rain last evening/night. Almost a daily occurance lately. Lawn is getting VERY high as it never dries off.
Back from Finland. Getting rid of jet lag and catching up on the Pot. Gonna take a while, as I haven't read it fro two weeks!
I'll post a few photos soon.
Had a great trip, but I'm glad to be home where it gets dark at night.
8N, welcome home! Glad you had a great time in Finland. I did a report on that country when in high school. Became enamoured with it, but have yet to make it there. Perhaps it will work out.
Mel, in Jax, I see that they will be having the funeral procession for Scott Speicher there tomorrow. Supposed to be 30 miles long to his final resting place. From what it sounds like, they are pulling out all the stops and giving him a very honorable send off. Glad to see our military heros getting the respect and honor they so rightly deserve. I am also glad the family has closure to this.
Well, we survived the added 4yo. Kid is very hyper and moderately agressive. We were able to handle it for one night, but boy, his parents deserve medals...not sure how they do it. even harder is that the father is in the military and gets deployed. Have a few projects to handle for she who must be obeyed, but after that, I plan on some layout work. I am coming to the realization that I really don't need any more "stuff" till I get what I have sorted out. Hard to move around the room. It'll work out. I am sure no one here has faced similar issues.
Have a great day,Dennis
Aloha all. Nice hot day. Took the boys to play mini-golf at noon when it was broiling - big dinner mtg with teen ministry leaders later. This morn was able to have coffee with a young dad to encourage him. Real work in between. Japanese beetles going crazy - filling bags of traps. Sigh. Have a great evening.Wes, hows the Columbus zoo? We werre deciding between visiting it or Toledo's after dropping off the daughter at college.8ntruck, welcome home...
cnw1995Wes, hows the Columbus zoo? We werre deciding between visiting it or Toledo's after dropping off the daughter at college.
Doug,,,,,The Columbus Zoo, no comparison.
COLUMBUS, OHIO: With all the news coming out of the Columbus Zoo with the birth of Beco in late March, we may have missed the announcement that the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was rated as the #1 Zoo in America by “USA Travel Guide” that gave published their Top 10 listed of zoos in the United States.
The Columbus Zoo made little fanfare of the ranking, but they have started using the designation in their publications including their quarterly publication the “Beastly Banner” as well as prominenty on their interactive web site. Congratulations to the Columbus Zoo.

Evening all!
Jon: We try to stop into a Famous Dave's Rib joint in Dinkytown when we're in MN, for ribs and live Blues! Great stuff!
Wes: Let me know if you need any more WS foam roadbed...I have half a box that I don't need. I can forward if you like...let me know. I'll send the slurry car car tomorrow!
Doug: We frequent the Toledo Zoo! Great smaller zoo for the kiddo's! Great place to see the hippo's and Polar Bears. If you plan to go let me know and I'll meet you there! We have a membership, and can get guests in as part of our deal. Monday is Lucas County free day so we avoid that day. Give me a call if you would like to go tomorrow.
Kurt
Welcome Home 8nTruck! Glad that you took the portable beacon so we didn't get lost! Chatting with RT and watching stuff on ebay - no bids yet. Mike and Patrick
